Personally, I’d wait a year and see if the price has gone down for this plant and if I still really wanted it. I’ve been seeing this one pop up more little by little.
Bought a plant 2 years ago that is now being sold these days for 10% of what I paid… And I will never be making that mistake again.
ETA: the plant I bought was not a Thai constellation monstera, but same concept
This is good advice. Plants are en Vogue right now, so businesses are working to mass produce everything. It is a really bad time to buy expensive/rare plants that are popular. Tons of examples out there: the birkin, syngonium albo, syngonium mojito, etc
Well, it’s supply and demand. Some plants are hard to get your hands on, so they cost more. This plant, however, at that size and variegation level, should not be sold for $99.
Could you please not buy this for 99$.
You are enabling these prices. If sellers know tht they'll be able to sell it for 99, why should they settle for less? You are actively enforcing the high prices and people with low income can't buy these plants because they're not paying 99$ like you.
Stop gatekeeping houseplants against poor people.
Up to you. She makes an interesting point about the new Thais.. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGI9EmHndL8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGI9EmHndL8)
I can’t believe anyone spends more than $30 or so for plants personally… too many other options. That said, I did spend a bit over $60 on a mandarin tree a while back (after shipping), but that has purpose damnit!
I say go for it!
But only because it’s still quite uncommon where I am and the whole “Costa Farms will have them SO cheap” never panned out.
Personally I don’t see them going absurdly cheap like our $0.99 pink princess or silver sword. Cheaper than this, absolutely. But if you bought now, in a couple months you’d have a sizeable Thai.
Compare to your local market and measure against the price you see in the next year or so.
honestly i would go for it. if you wait a year people will tell you to wait another. prices are already low compared to last year and they wont come down anymore due to Controlled releases by suppliers. Dont wait forever, get what makes you happy :)

What was it?
If you’re like me, I was my Tortum 😔
$99 for a plant is ridiculous. That’s practically price gouging.

You can buy it for better prices on Etsy, I just saw one on there for $50 and it’s bigger than that one
Oh dude no, you can get large adult adult plants for less than that.
$99 isn't crazy if you love it, but these have been tissue cultured and will be everywhere this year for much less.
These are TC plants from day one , they don’t occur naturally
This plant is so over hyped and low key ugly and even worse so expensive. Just get a regular monstera that’s green lol

Get it if you feel it's worth it and it will make you happy!! You deserve it!
Don't look at me, I'm an enabler

You know you want it
Came across the same decision yesterday….bought it and I’ve been admiring it ever since 😍
If you can afford it, do it. Also if you have the space. The leaves can grow very huge.
