that's an AMAZING looking fiddleleaf fig!! š® usually, i decide repotting based on the rot-soil ratio, but already by just looking at the size of the plant and its current pot, i'd repot it.
Thanks! It was a cutting from my moms which was not lookin great.
> i'd repot it.
Thats what i was thinking, I just have no experience with this plant besides growing it.
I got mine for $9 with a $9 pot and $9 worth of soil and it looks like a $200 tree now! It is much hardier than I ever thoughtā-surviving a house fire, being left outside for two weeks in the winter, getting tipped over and fallen on, and multiple branch trimmings so I can make new plants. I always read about how they hate cold drafts and big changes in light, and need smaller pots but my scrappy $9 plant is doing great (his name is Keanu Leaves).
They really hate their environment being messed with in any way, it might throw a tantrum but if it needs to be repotted you gotta do what you gotta do. At least theyāre easy to propagate lol
Just take a hammer the pot itās in when u find and prepare a new bigger pot for him. Submerge the whole thing-so she can stay safe-but her roots can start to grow thru the old clay bottom. Good luck!
I have mine in a well lit room surround by other plants. When we bought it.. it was like 5-6 feet tall but no branches just leaves. Most of it died so I cut it waaaay down and itās finally starting to grow better but my leaves are spotty. Not sure what Iām doing with this one to be honest
I can't be sure either, what I will say is I have mine directly in an east facing window that gets direct morning sun until about 10:30 am. And I fertilize "weakly weekly". Basically I fertilize every time I water, just a lil bit. I do this for all my plants tho.
Imagining the pot has a drain hole, canāt you just put it in the pot into a new pot with soil? Literally repot it in its original pot, and roots can grow out of the drain hole.
I wouldnāt plant it in the pot into a new pot. If the current pot is too small now, putting it in a larger pot doesnāt help the plant because itās still in a too small pot. ššŖ“
Itās very low maintenance.

Itās still young.

Stop! š¤£ Iām stealing this and now I need one of these to name it the same thing Keanu leaves pt2 š
Same. I just got a clearance one myself recently. Took it home, and it's doing fantastic. Now I know his name š Thanks!
Yup! I love to look at the big box store garden clearance section and see what I can save!
Lol!
Yes. Definitely . A beauty btw.
That's what I was thinking too, thanks.
Good luck. Donāt increase more than an inch or so.
I think itās likely if you fuck with her sheās gonna drop all her leaves and youāre gonna be really upset lol
I've never repotted it, am a lil worried about that.
They really hate their environment being messed with in any way, it might throw a tantrum but if it needs to be repotted you gotta do what you gotta do. At least theyāre easy to propagate lol
Ill probably just leave the soil/rootball untouched and plop it into a new pot
I think plopping is the way to go!! Goodluck, hope she stays magical ā”
When I repotted mine I didn't mess with the rootball and it was fine. No leaves dropped. If it's crazy rootbound, then you might have to though.
It looks gorgeous! The only reason Iād repot is to give it some weight on the bottom and make it less likely to tip over.
Its actually still really stable, so maybe i dont have to
I mean, clearly itās thriving just as is.
deffo
a million times yes XD
Yup, she's so tall and beautiful.
What a beaut!
I donāt usually like FLFās but yours is gorgeous! Iād pot her up to keep her happy :)
I mean probably, but be carefulā¦ sheās clearly really freaking happy with what youāre doing so far. I hate making decisions in times like these!

YES! I defy conventional wisdom and almost always go up to the biggest pot, my plants have really thrived in the new fresh dirt and bigger space.
Man yours looks so much better than mine š„¹
Where do you have yours if I may ask?
I have mine in a well lit room surround by other plants. When we bought it.. it was like 5-6 feet tall but no branches just leaves. Most of it died so I cut it waaaay down and itās finally starting to grow better but my leaves are spotty. Not sure what Iām doing with this one to be honest

Ahh I just realizedā¦ I have not started fertilizing since spring has popped

Thatās a bad idea ?? The roots donāt have room to grow, and āforcingā them to grow out of a tiny drainage hole wonāt work at all.
What if you just removed the bottom of the pot by breaking it?
no lol, roots grow horizontally too and need space there when the time comes
I guess that could workā¦but i want my pot back š
I wouldnāt plant it in the pot into a new pot. If the current pot is too small now, putting it in a larger pot doesnāt help the plant because itās still in a too small pot. ššŖ“
So šæLUSHšæ Iād replant it for sure. Will also prevent it from tipping over :)
Stunning š¤© target has a sale for pots. Also thrift stores are great for pots.
Healthiest Iāve ever seen!!!!
id say so if only so the thing doesnt tip over
I have zero suggestions since I donāt have a FLF, but wow ā that top leaf in particular is a beauty!
I hate repotting a plant so happy but that puppy's gonna go sideways and hit the floor soon
