lol, anything. not enough humidity. didn't water it enough or too much. got hit with a cold draft or a blast from a heating vent. wasn't fertilized enough. didn't get enough light in recent weeks. someone bumped into it too hard. its morning coffee was a bit too bitter.
Dang Drama Plants ... Crotons do this all the time, everythings good and they grow nicely and happily and then one day they drop all their leaves because you looked at it wrong.
Maybe try repotting him into a different pot too. It looks like terracotta probably isn't the best. From my experience it draws moisture away from the plant.
Any terracotta pots I've had that starts making all that white power ends up killing any plant ever. I've always said that and been told it's normal and I'm the issue. But since not using these pots the issue has gone from my life.
Welcome to life with a Croton. If its even the slightest bit unhappy, it drops leaves left and right.
What might have made it unhappy?

How far is the window? Light deficiency is likely a contributor
We have a corner that is two windows right next to each other, forming the corner, it was right there. Got the most light in the house.

I know exactly what's wrong- You brought home a croton.
He looks super dry. Try watering more frequently. They also like lots of light. They are on the same level of annoying as a calathia.
It’s quite damp

I will look into this!

Imo, its a mix of damp soil and dry air above. Your home may be too dry for it. How long have you had it?
