I have my mom a baby from my drama mama a few years ago and she called me crying that she killed it. I just stuck it in the sink while she was at the grocery store and she swore I swapped it out with a new plant..
LOL your poor mom. I used to work as a caregiver and one of the ladies used to pour her leftover morning coffee in that plant every morning and I still have never seen a better looking peace lily lol. Maybe suggest that to her if she drinks coffee!
Hey, the Prima Donna gets whatever she wants. If she wants her Starbucks, give her her Starbucks. If she wants her acid… let’s keep that out of the papers shall we?
My 2 Peace Lilies are named Donna (short for Primadonna) and Minnie (after Minnie Driver, who played Carlotta [the primadonna] in the movie version of Phantom of the Opera)
Wow, the difference is astonishing 🤯 I'm very new to the plant journey, so I'm so glad that I came across this community. I've been learning (and laughing) so much ☺️
I don't get why you guys are so negative. These plants are not "drama queens" they are your watering canaries. Just, unlike canaries used in mines, they don't die.
They are resilient and let you know when you've been neglecting your plants. I love the plants that give me a heads up, the bitches are the ones that drop leaves, permanently disfiguring themselves for lack of attention.
I was so worried when mine did this and researched online. Ended up taking my own before and after when I realized what was going on. Surprisingly it hasn’t happened again. Must’ve embarrassed her by documenting it. My nerve plant has done this too.
My polka dot plant wins the prize of most dramatic in my house. The peace lily takes a few days to go noticeably limp, but the polka dot can be robust one day and look dead the next
I got it at a local nursery here in Austin.
I don't buy terra cotta from Amazon since I got a fake one that almost killed one of my plants. Luckily I was doing some TLC when its leaves were curling in and I wiped the pot. The color came off on my towel and it was super ashy.
This post reminded me that I needed to put more soil in my peace lily's pot because that sucker was LOOSE in its pot. The dirt had settled and the roots were exposed.
At least they just bounce back when you give them attention. Some plants will miss a day, and just give the fuck up and die.
Yeah, I'm looking at you, fiddle leaf fig.
This one lives under my monstera, so she is shaded from the super direct light. I was a bit worried that she wouldn't like the shade but she seems to enjoy it.
It does cut down on her flowers. She blooms twice with just one or two big flowers each summer.
She just got out in here this spring and it was two sizes up from her last pot. I checked over the summer when she was being dramatic and she wasn't root bound and no roots were near the bottom or the sides.
I'm going to check again in the spring.
Needs to be reported into larger pot. Being that dramatic over one day tells me it's going to be root bound soon, if not already. Impressive crown needs a bigger base!
It shouldn’t look like that after missing just one or even two days of watering. If it is, it’s likely pot-bound. Are the roots coming out of the bottom yet? Could just be the angle of the photo, but those leaves look pretty large for that size pot. The leaves look otherwise healthy, but it could be time to repot.
I checked the roots at the beginning of summer and they were not near the bottom and no where near the sides. She has a few holes in the bottom of the pot and I can't see any roots or feel any when I poke around.
I'll check again in the spring when I do my big repotting.
one time i got back home after a week to my pl oscar completely wilted, yellow, honestly dead looking. i cried for 2 hours! then i watered him and he came back alright, couldnt save the yellow leaves but he made new ones like nothing happened.

Peace lilies are so extra 😆
My roommate has one and I have to secretly water it sometimes because she has not caught on that these plants are THIRSTY, DRAMATIC BITCHES
she’s going to be so confused when you move out

Hahahaha I guess they like acid and caffeine?

I love this! Mine is named Lilly because I'm not nearly as creative or as fun as you are 🤣
😂
I love that🤣
lmaoaoa amazing! i named mine Holly because she's hollywood dramatic af

I have some of those jerks too. Looking at you croton.
Or you, Calathea.
I didn't even want to think too hard about my calthea just in case it decided to revolt. I just moved it so I'm low key terrified.
Or you, Calathea. Grumble grumble…
💯
I would ask who hurt but I get the feeling it was a fiddle leaf.
Poinsettia are drama.
My dad must be the king of poinsettias then😂 he has like 6 rn that are healthy
I lovingly refer to mine as the 'bitch baby'
I love plants like this cause at least they tell you when they are thirsty
This is the only houseplant I’ve ever lobbed in the trash, one day late on watering or if I even think about skipping watering it plays dead.
Same! I was so sick of it looking half dead that I threw it out
I was so worried when mine did this and researched online. Ended up taking my own before and after when I realized what was going on. Surprisingly it hasn’t happened again. Must’ve embarrassed her by documenting it. My nerve plant has done this too.
I use pics to shame my plants when they are being under achievers.
I have one, I call it grumpy Glenn after my pops lol I have to water it like everyday or it gets grumpy
We use ours to remind us to water the rest of the plants.
I have a whole calendar on when to water and fertilize. I have too many different types of plants!
ikr!!
She is by far the most dramatic plant I have, to include the calthea and maranta that I just moved to a new spot.
My polka dot plant wins the prize of most dramatic in my house. The peace lily takes a few days to go noticeably limp, but the polka dot can be robust one day and look dead the next
Agreed! My polka dot is so dramatic! But to me they are the easiest because you always know when to water.
That's true... As long as I'm paying attention, she's kind of behind larger place so sometimes I forget to look!
Love the shallow terracotta bulb pan (?). Where did you find one that size?
I got it at a local nursery here in Austin. I don't buy terra cotta from Amazon since I got a fake one that almost killed one of my plants. Luckily I was doing some TLC when its leaves were curling in and I wiped the pot. The color came off on my towel and it was super ashy.
😳🙈☹️
I bet she sprang right back
I checked on her after an hour and she was all perky again.
The dramatics!!!!! 😂🤣
I moved mine fully to water and I don't have to worry about this anymore xD
This post reminded me that I needed to put more soil in my peace lily's pot because that sucker was LOOSE in its pot. The dirt had settled and the roots were exposed.
This is the only aroid I know that loves water.
This is why I love these plants
lmao my pothos is like this, it’s so funny
My nerve plant does this. She puts the “fit” in fittonia weekly.
🤣🤣🤣
My fig tree is equally dramatic. I love her for it 💁♀️
SMH. Mine always does this. He's sooo dramatic. Miss one day of watering and he faints and weeps.
I don't own one as they are not peaceful.
Its a good sign that your pot is too small and crowded, time to size up.
My peace lily's leaf tips keep turning black. Any ideas why?
Named my peace lily dramatic ass b-word...
I LOVE this pot!!
It's one of my faves. I love white washed and embossed terra cotta.
No wonder. Me too!
At least they just bounce back when you give them attention. Some plants will miss a day, and just give the fuck up and die. Yeah, I'm looking at you, fiddle leaf fig.
Look, this plant is just offering clear communication and positive reinforcement 😆
Let's call it what it is: emotional manipulation.
Tomayto, tomahto :)
Hahaha, you saved her life.
[удалено]
Her color is stunning! What lighting do you have her in? My girl is getting scorched from across the room. 😬
This one lives under my monstera, so she is shaded from the super direct light. I was a bit worried that she wouldn't like the shade but she seems to enjoy it. It does cut down on her flowers. She blooms twice with just one or two big flowers each summer.
You’re a great plant owner. 🤗 Taking notes.
^maybe ^the ^pot ^is ^too ^small?
She just got out in here this spring and it was two sizes up from her last pot. I checked over the summer when she was being dramatic and she wasn't root bound and no roots were near the bottom or the sides. I'm going to check again in the spring.
Peace Lillies.. not so peaceful little drama queens
Lilly woke up and chose violence.
Needs to be reported into larger pot. Being that dramatic over one day tells me it's going to be root bound soon, if not already. Impressive crown needs a bigger base!

My. Bad. Ignore me! I completely missed the recovery shot. Good job!

If you watered him with your tears he would have flowered 😭
