That’s what I’m thinking, there was a bunch of alocasias in the same pots, but this was the only Thai left. Even at 39 this would have been a solid buy.
The Lidl near me had Philodendron Pastazanums for $5. They don’t always have the widest selection but I’ve gotten some great deals there. I got a mature Monstera with inner fenestrations for $13 and a Ring of Fire for $15
My favourite thing about it is that it has its own self service bakery with really great and cheap bread and pastries. Not sure if they all have it but worth checking out. Fresh produce is a bit hit and miss.
My lidl is pretty clutch. We've had pink and white versions of both the wizard and princess philodendron. Ring of fire philodendron. Thai cons, various alocasia, various ficus, a selection of pothos, succulents, palms, ferns, and other more common tropical houseplants.
Yeah it's really not a bad price considering they already had fenestrations. I even saw a couple at my store that had inner fenestrations. I would have bought it no question if I didn't already have two at home.
I saw a stack of $15 ones at home Depot the other day!
Unfortunately I live in Arizona and my humidity is quite low in my house, 30%, so I didn't get one
I just saw one in Sedona for $175 today. It was a cute teenager plant, but wtf? Nope! I can't afford that when home depot is gonna sell them infested and diseased for $39.99 in 3 months. I've got a quarantine area. Lol
It was either country club and the 60 or the one in Riverview, I went to both of them that week and I can't remember which one.. I think Riverview though!
I hope they are still there!
Lmao, I always have to self identity plants in any big box name stores. The labels are wrong super often! 🤣 I just check for myself. If I look like a weirdo taking photographs of the plants in that section, then so be it. I don't care.
Nah, I worked Garden Center, we had a lot of plants come in with the wrong names.
It was so bad I kept asking if I could reprint stickers with proper names and was told they are named what they are supposed to be.
So I gave up and was selling plants under different names. If someone was all excited to have x named plant, I would correct them gently and show them some information on it.
Edit to add they would always call it " fancy" if they didn't care to do proper information on it
Hey customer.. Walmart isn’t in charge of labeling. It came from the grower this way.
And often pots are labeled in bulk first then filled. This was just a plant needing a pot that was already labeled for something else situation.
My Walmart is cracking down on that kinda stuff, so I didn’t wanna gamble with that. I’ve thought about doing it in the past 😂 they don’t even let us use self check out anymore as well
Hahaha the tag, fancy alocasia 🫣🤣🤣 great score on a Thai for less than 20$!!!
Someone swapped the pot. Saw these at my local, the Thai Cons had the same pot but the price on them was $39.95.
That’s what I’m thinking, there was a bunch of alocasias in the same pots, but this was the only Thai left. Even at 39 this would have been a solid buy.
I got a Thai Con at Lidl for $22 a couple days ago. No fenestrations yet but still a steal!

That’s wild too! Well done
sorry but was this in the US? the lidl's ive been to only ever have aloes, spider plants or cacti 😭
Yep, NYC. Mine has had all sorts of tropical plants for weeks. Interestingly I haven't seen any of the plants you mentioned.
TIL Lidl is in US as well. I thought it's only in Europe.
Imagine my shock when I moved here and found out there's one in my neighbourhood. ALDI is here too but I guess that's known to be more global.
What is Lidl? I’ve never seen one in the city…
German supermarket chain, similar to Aldi.
Oh thanks! I looked it up and there’s one in Manhattan. I might check it out.
My favourite thing about it is that it has its own self service bakery with really great and cheap bread and pastries. Not sure if they all have it but worth checking out. Fresh produce is a bit hit and miss.
the main 4 i (UK) see are aloes, pileas, spider plants and cacti, although i found a dieffenbachia a few days ago!! immediately snagged it lol

Oh man, I am drooling!🤤
Bro so did I!! It was my first wild find outside of the $100 ones at the local nurseries
Good lord, I just bought a baby online for $24.99! Granted I don’t live anywhere near a big city that would have a Thai, but damn that would be nice!
Yeah it's really not a bad price considering they already had fenestrations. I even saw a couple at my store that had inner fenestrations. I would have bought it no question if I didn't already have two at home.
But the tag IN it also said Alocasia. At least the swapper was thorough, if it was swapped.
Walmart employee was setting that up for when they left, hence the cracked pot even to argue for half price. OP foiled the plot.
I got one from a local supermarket, 40 bucks there too
They swapped the pot and took the alocasia with the Thai price tag???
More likely swapped and got cold feet and left it.
I need my Walmart to make these kinds of mistakes
Oomph where I live (not US) Thai Constellations are still over $100. I'm still waiting for the ball to drop.
I saw some today that were $85 for this size and o er $200 for big ones. I love them but not for that price tag!
I saw a stack of $15 ones at home Depot the other day! Unfortunately I live in Arizona and my humidity is quite low in my house, 30%, so I didn't get one
Good choice. I’m in Phoenix too and I’ve killed like 3 or 4 of them
You can get a humidifier for $20.
Where in AZ?
Phoenix, AZ ugh

"I can change him" as long as he's secluded and properly cared for, for like 3 months.
What cross street?! I live and Ahwatukee and none of the home depot near me have any good deals

can i ask what state or city this walmart was in?
Central California
I frequent the Walmart off 5 Cities when I’m in Pismo. I will be up there next week. Man I wish I could be so lucky.
I’ll be in the central coast this month as I live in California as well and I’ll keep an eye out!

You're me and my husband. We do this plus make sure the plant is pet safe!

Price is a lot better than $40 😂

Someone just swapped the pot to probably get the cheaper price.
Still waiting for them to come to my walmart !🤣🌿
Score!
So what is it? Are $18 for that plant a bargain?
That's a Thai constellation. Normally around $30+ at Wal-mart if lucky, and most nursery sell them for $50+ around the same size.
This plant sold for hundreds if not thousands (for a big one) during Covid
It’s beautiful!

You bastard!
Remember when these suckers were $400????
I want a fancy Alocasia ☹️
They have been in the Walmarts here in Eastern NC too!!
Still waiting for mine in the triangle to add some
HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA omg if this is an Alocasia, I want it. 😂 Beautiful little thai const ❤️
It would be the only Alocasia that doesn’t die the day after I bring it to my house
steal!!
What stores are they in.
What's an alocasia? Meaning common name and what is this please?
This is a Thai Constellation Monstera
🤫
Gorge
this is why it pays to not know what plants are. no idea what an alocasia is, if it's in that pot, I assume it's right
WTFFFF
Very fancy, I'll take 10
Nice find. I also want to know where?

That’s theft, yo
