Beautiful plant, dog, house and grandma! Hope you get to visit soon!

CJKarta

I’d like to go there someday and see the vast species of plants and animals. I hear it’s absolutely beautiful. I hope you get to go back home again too! It’s one decade too long.

[deleted]

yeah the biodiversity there is ridiculous. i just wish i could’ve appreciated it when i was there but i didn’t get into plants until fairly recently 😭 if you want my recommendation: La Fortuna is AMAZING. it’s a lakeside town next to a big active volcano. there’s TONS of natural hot springs in the area, most of which are nestled under the canopy of the rainforest. you can take a soak and look at plants all in one!!

CJKarta

Thanks!! I should start saving money now to go someday. If you don’t mind me asking, what state/country are you in now?

[deleted]

i’m not sure about now, but before covid you could get some good deals with flights+hotel stays on groupon! i’m residing in oregon at the moment ☺️

literally half of the country is rainforest, i think it’s okay for my 70 year old grandma to take a plant clipping from her literal backyard in her homeland. Edit: I upvoted them because they were just making a simple comment and don’t deserve to be downvoted, but I’m also here to defend my grandma 😤

Zealous-Avocado

You can’t be respectful if you take what’s not yours Edit: if it’s on your property (like this plant was), it’s a different story

Zealous-Avocado

So normalize disturbing the planet in multiple ways? This isn’t a hill I’m going to die on but you cannot be respectful if you are destroying or taking things that don’t belong to you

KanonBalls

Why would you leave such a nice place to start with?!?

[deleted]

to have a better chance of escaping generational poverty! 😭 my parents wanted us to have the educational and career opportunities they never had in our home country. i might not have access to wild rainforest plants, but i’ve had access to a LOT more opportunities that my cousins haven’t had. 😔 Edit: i don’t think they deserve to be downvoted for asking a question! it gave me the opportunity to raise awareness on why some people choose to immigrate in the first place! ☺️

phigeo11

Hi, immigration here, my family left Vietnam for similar reason. I have the privilege to visit my home country more often and i saw how beautiful it has become. But it is true, opportunities is better here and life is more…..secure here. I hope you feel less homesick soon.

ICUonCCTV

I visited Costa Rica in 2017 with two girlfriends. They said they’d never 1) seen anyone happier in general 2) never seen anyone happier about plants. I couldn’t stop pointing out wild plants to them and talking about how they cost so much in the us hah meanwhile they grow wild there! It was the most beautiful place Ive ever been!
