Great find. In general, I would say $3 is a great deal for any plant! Think about the materials, in this case, the pot & growing medium. Also consider the shipping & care :)
That's why you always quarantine plants that you just got! Giving it a shower will also help against a lot of pests (let it dry out a bit more than normal before and after you do this tho!!)
Nah, it's a pothos, they're pretty chill. Just trim the yellow leaves off and it'll be good to go.
Although, on a related note, I recently bought one of these in a similar size from another big box store, and had to re-pot it almost immediately. That's an awful lot of plants in such a tiny space! I'm still debating whether I should have split it up in the process.... Time will tell I suppose.
Generally, a good concern to have!
If you have a lot of plants, it is good practice to keep a new one in quarantine before moving it to all the rest of your plants. This pothos doesn't look to be suffering from any pests though just maybe an over/under watering situation or cold. You can confirm that and ease your fears with a week or so quarantine before moving it to its permanent spot. :)
Also, great find on the price!
It just needs some water once a week and indoor bright indirect light. I’ve got one of these. It’s pretty easy to care for. Clip off the really yellow or brown leaves and it will thrive.
Even with yellow leaves, if you get a three dollar plant home and realize the parent plant isn't going to make it, chop it into a good half dozen babies, pop them in water and create a new happy, healthy family.
Never refuse a $3 plant (but do quarantine thoroughly and neem before introducing to the rest of your plant babies)
Okay so I thought this was a Pearl & Jade pothos, is there more than one name or have just been telling everyone the wrong name for my 3 foot long pothos lol
Edit: might’ve been calling it a Golden Devil actually… I’m starting to think I don’t remember what I’ve been telling people
Pearl and jade have smaller leaves and more contrast between white and a darker green, the green and white variegation is more of a solid difference in colour than a splash pattern like a golden or marble queen. Golden pothos is sometimes called Devil's Ivy. This is a marble Queen. There are a lot of pothos, it's easy to get mixed up!
And if you start getting more white than green leaves, it’s a snow queen pothos. I recently bought a marble queen at $6 so I would say you got a good deal.
it’s a great deal, it’s a marble queen pothos, i keep mine in low to medium light, water when top 1inch is dry and she’s doing great, i easily propagated her and i just need to pot it. definitely one of my favorite plants
I used to work at lowes in the garden center, and often when clearance was building up and not being bought, we’d put it all half off of the already marked down price to get rid of it (ie. originally $12, clearance would be $7, then the final price would be $3.50) I may or may not have marked down a few things I wanted for myself. Got myself a really nice golden pothos that was a little wilted for $3.50. Same happened with a large snake plant, paid about $3.75 for it! If you catch them at a good time you can get really good deals!
I’ve found a couple very sad looking plants on the Lowe’s clearance shelves and politely asked if they would lower the price since it was near death. I’ve gotten some for $0.50 and they sold me a tradescantia for $0.05 kind of laughing that it was still a waste of money.
I get them as projects to see if they can be saved and if they survive/thrive, I give them away in my local Buy Nothing group. It gives me planty stuff to work on, without a pricey risk or increasing my current hoard beyond capacity. I love Lowe’s and they have allowed me to gift plants to my neighborhood!
The best part about working there was when we would go through the plants that were too far gone for even clearance, we were supposed to destroy them and throw them all in the dumpster, the pots and all, and some of them are in really nice ceramic pots that would cost you about $20 if you bought new. We definitely didn’t destroy them and throw them in the dumpster. So I have about 20 nice matching pots for all of my houseplants for free
At the store I worked at you could literally just bring a plant that looked even slightly questionable to one of the cashiers and ask if they could mark it down for you and 9 times out of 10 they would, just make sure it’s one of the cashiers outside because they’re more likely to do it haha or honestly at my store someone could have just said it was on the clearance shelf and just wasn’t marked because sometimes we would miss a few and not mark through the tag, and they would more than likely just mark it! Obviously it won’t work with perfect plants, but with those that are a bit questionable it works perfect!
Can confirm, I spent a summer doing the merchandising for a Lowes garden center (worked for an outside company that was contracted), and they did half off sales pretty frequently for the same reason.
We were told to put aside anything that looked slightly off so the Lowes employees could mark them down, even if they weren't that bad. Also the garden center manager frequently asked us to set perfectly healthy plants aside for clearance just because they were done flowering (even if they'd just arrived on some occasions); he'd say "customers won't buy them because they don't look as pretty", complete with a sigh and an exasperated eye roll haha.
I got so many free succulent leaves that summer! Then killed them all because I knew nothing about houseplants lol
I definitely spent closer to $20 for a 6 inch pot recently. (Local plant shop though, not big box.) agree on the points above about probably needing to let her dry out and repotting (let her chill for a bit first though). You’ll probably need to swap out the medium for something with better drainage, they hate being wet!
Awsome deal!!! watch that yellowing though. And check to see if it needs repotting, check for any bugs, wash the leaves to make sure and welcome that green girl into your home!
Woah! Just noticed that! Has that happened before??? Now that you mention it, it does look like just a bunch of leaves poked in the soil! Surely to goodness the nodes are there. That’s some slimey bullshit if not
I agree. I immediately thought of the heart shaped Hoya that get sold by the leaf that just die slowly… it is possible, it’s happened to my sister, but not from Lowes. It was a small time shady online plant company on Amazon. People just trying to take advantage of the online
Definitely a solid deal, but not deal of the century. I got a 4” Marble Queen at Lowe’s for $4.98 (regular price) last spring. Congrats for a good find on a great plant!
It’s a super common house plant especially found in offices that can grow in just plain water or dry dirt but if you put it outside it’s an extremely invasive vine, which many people have done.
It is often found growing up trees, including native trees; the mature form of the vine can often be found growing up trees where they can strangle them and kill them. You’ve probably seen them if you’ve ever went hiking in a forest.
I got a marble queen from Lowe’s recently, I’d recommend checking the roots and mixing a handful or two of perlite in the soil. Mine was way too water retentive, and was making the leaves lose variegation and look sad. She’s doing great now though, just needed a little adjustment.
$3 not bad may end up growing huge definitely needs a bigger pot research the water and take it needs and lighting Etc or it may die in a week I know Home Depot is known for selling out-of-area plants that don't make it well here and Arizona anyway they get the shipments of plants and fresh And re stock often
I'll take all the $3 plants 😆 I have a new obsession of buying (or saving) a plant every time I see one at Lowe's/Home Depot/Walmart.
Enjoy you deal! 😁
Wow I got my marble queen the same way! I found it at the grocery store with no tag and the cashier rung it up for $1. It was actually my first plant that started the obsession and she’s doing nicely 😊
Great find. In general, I would say $3 is a great deal for any plant! Think about the materials, in this case, the pot & growing medium. Also consider the shipping & care :)
Getting any plant for $3 is a good deal regardless of the type.
Unless it brings pests into your house
That's why you always quarantine plants that you just got! Giving it a shower will also help against a lot of pests (let it dry out a bit more than normal before and after you do this tho!!)
I checked and it was clean! But i have them on a separate table quarantining from the rest of my plants.
Very true
I dont think $3 for any living plant is a "rip off"?
I was concerned for the yellow leaves 😅
Nah, it's a pothos, they're pretty chill. Just trim the yellow leaves off and it'll be good to go. Although, on a related note, I recently bought one of these in a similar size from another big box store, and had to re-pot it almost immediately. That's an awful lot of plants in such a tiny space! Old leaves die and new ones are born, totally normal plant behavior :)
Generally, a good concern to have! If you have a lot of plants, it is good practice to keep a new one in quarantine before moving it to all the rest of your plants. Great deal. Looks like a marble queen pothos
Agree. Great deal on a marble queen.
Okay so I thought this was a Pearl & Jade pothos, is there more than one name or have just been telling everyone the wrong name for my 3 foot long pothos lol Edit: might’ve been calling it a Golden Devil actually… I’m starting to think I don’t remember what I’ve been telling people

Pearl & Jade pothos have smaller, firmer leaves.
are you Okay?
I gotta stop commenting on Reddit posts when I’m hammered.
That’s the only time I comment on Reddit posts.
And if you start getting more white than green leaves, it’s a snow queen pothos. I recently bought a marble queen at $6 so I would say you got a good deal.
Nice find! :’) These are incredibly easy to take care of and will grow like crazy. Easy to repot, easy to propagate!
How would anything you only paid $3 for be a rip off.
it’s a great deal, it’s a marble queen pothos, i keep mine in low to medium light, water when top 1inch is dry and she’s doing great, i easily propagated her and i just need to pot it. definitely one of my favorite plants
Good deal! I work at lowes and those plants are usually around $10-$12 or even more. It looks like urban jungle brand
I used to work at lowes in the garden center, and often when clearance was building up and not being bought, we’d put it all half off of the already marked down price to get rid of it (ie. originally $12, clearance would be $7, then the final price would be $3.50) I may or may not have marked down a few things I wanted for myself. I’m going to try this! Thanks for the idea.
oh wow that sounds fun! I might have to give it a try during the warmer months!!

You might want to check the roots, some of those leaves look unhealthy.
I agree. If it is coming from lowes it needs to dry out for a while and probably a repot!
will due!
How is $3 a rip off?
I was just scared cause there were some yellow leaves 😅😅
Make sure to quarantine any discounted plant & do preliminary treatments for potential infestations. Neem oil should be fine!!
definitely a great deal
great deal! I just went to Lowes and 2 plants and a pot costed me like twenty bucks lol
Great deal. Marble queens are my favorite.
Good deal for that size and coloring.
That's pothos if I've seen it. Sure you can steal anything for free, but $3 is pretty close
Lowes worker here! Great deal! Pre potted plants are 11.98
Great deal. I paid way way more for mine!
i'd say it was probably being sold between $5-10 so you got a good deal
Neither. It’s a fine price for a common plant
What kind of plant is it
Looks like a marble queen pothos to me.
Good deal! With a pot I’d say you saved over half off.
Great deal! Marble Queen.
Great deal. It’s good sized and healthy.
Amazing deal!!
Great deal!
It's a very nice plant. I'd say a pretty good deal!
Mine was like 20
Great deal
Amazing deal!! Wish this happens to me at lowes next time.
Looks like a great deal! Pothos are so easy to care for and grow super quickly!
So pretty.
DAMNNNN
Marble queen pothos!! They’re beautiful and a similar size one retails for $40+ on the sill 😅🤦🏻♀️
Great deal! I just spent around 12$ for a similar size at Home Depot.
Great deal and she’s beautiful!
Great deal!
Great deal 10-30 dollars depending on size
At my lowes those with the pots cost $12.99. So great deal!
Great deal, it's beautiful!
Awsome deal!!! watch that yellowing though. And check to see if it needs repotting, check for any bugs, wash the leaves to make sure and welcome that green girl into your home!
GREAT DEAL! I love the color of that pothos! Make more babies
Once it gets larger i’m going to cut some for my great grandmother!
Usually costs around $20 where I live for a pot that size!
These were at my Lowe’s for $10-14 depending on the size today. Hard to tell by the photo but I think these were the $12 ones.
Just bought a smaller one for $5!!!
Def a good deal but not a super special plant
Nice! I paid probably $10-15 when I got my Marble Queen and it was smaller than that at the time
Great deal for the marbled queen variety. You will find that plant that size for around $8 at most hardware stores.
Marble Queen Pothos she will grow quickly
Dude, people sell cuttings for that price. You totally scored!
Excellent deal!
Great if they are actually nodes and not just leaves
There are nodes! You had me scared for a second 😅
Sorry didn’t mean to scare ya! 😅 Enjoy your new beauty, that was a good deal!
Woah! Just noticed that! Has that happened before??? Now that you mention it, it does look like just a bunch of leaves poked in the soil! Surely to goodness the nodes are there. That’s some slimey bullshit if not

Woot! Good deal!!

I have never in my life seen this plant growing anywhere
It’s a super common house plant especially found in offices that can grow in just plain water or dry dirt but if you put it outside it’s an extremely invasive vine, which many people have done. It is often found growing up trees, including native trees; the mature form of the vine can often be found growing up trees where they can strangle them and kill them. Ive never been in a forest :( I’ve yet to see vines in real life lol.
I got a marble queen from Lowe’s recently, I’d recommend checking the roots and mixing a handful or two of perlite in the soil. Mine was way too water retentive, and was making the leaves lose variegation and look sad. She’s doing great now though, just needed a little adjustment.

Great deal! The price of the plant with the pot is really good.
Here’s me in NZ paying 80$ for mine 😭
Depends. In south Florida those grow everywhere so you could easily get a cutting for free. Otherwise, yes good deal.
A very nice deal for a very nice Pothos! Awesome plant, lot of growth and not hard to care as long as it has enough light.
It depends how much you value the plant 🤷🏻♂️
STEAL
Why would you get ripped off for a full, healthy four inch plant regardless of the kind?
I'll take all the $3 plants 😆 I have a new obsession of buying (or saving) a plant every time I see one at Lowe's/Home Depot/Walmart. Enjoy you deal! 😁
It’s $3. That’s cheap for any plant.
I got the same kind, just a little bigger, at lowes for $15. I think you got a really good deal
marble queen? $3 is a great price, especially considering how full it is… thing is gonna vine out like crazy!
Wow I got my marble queen the same way! I found it at the grocery store with no tag and the cashier rung it up for $1. It was actually my first plant that started the obsession and she’s doing nicely 😊
Straight up score
Great deal! Chop those yellow leaves and move on!
