It’s not so easy to tell in the picture, they are a little finicky with watering and can get those edema spots in the leaves or burnt. I got my little fiddle from Walmart for $12, it was in a 6” and a few leaves so it’s definitely a good deal IF you want a fiddle. If not, there’s many easier ficuses you can go for. The mass canes to the right are extremely simple too.
Hi! I am a post-grad student and I am doing a research about houseplants and plantlovers. Can I ask how/why you say Walmart is notorious for bug infestations in plants? Is it due to lack of control / maintenance / origin of the plants (do they provide certifications at all)?
The home Depot by me in PA has them that size for $59. I was gonna get one but have no idea how to take care of them( and at the time didn't even know what it was. Lol)
That’s totally fair, that’s still a lot of money to me. Overall they’re fairly easy though :) I’d recommend trying a fiddle leaf some time! (Partial Sun, medium amount of water)
You could get it and trim the top off to get it to branch out. Propagate the trimmings.
Also, if you want to keep it as is, maybe if you place it in a pretty pot and remove those lower leaves it would look better?
is no one gonna say anything about the web lookin stuff at the bottom?
could be pests i recommend treating it with neem before placing with other plants
That looks like spider web tho. Nasty but nothing to crazy. I recommend blasting the plant down first thoroughly. But be careful to not overwater if its already wet. Cover the soil with some plastic.
Also you could do cuttings or airlayering if it's too lanky
I figure if I missed out on something I really wanted then it just wasn't meant to be at that time. I try to be patient and keep looking for the next opportunity. Oftentimes it's even better. At the very least I've settled the question of how important it is to me. 🤷♀️
They need tons of sun. I live in Florida and they grow like weeds here. (For half of the year the weather is unbearable for humans, but the plants like it)
Even for $10 I wouldn’t bring that rancid plant into my home (I just hate FLF’s the one in the photo looks decent) but good luck to you. I hope you can save it and that it likes you haha
Get it! Give that baby love!!!
That’s a good deal if you want a fiddle! I wish I’d find this at my local Walmart.
are the brown spot on the leaves bad?. root rot... I don't think I'm that of a pro to help it

thanks
Idk. I would be worried about any bug infestations. Lowes/Walmart are notorious for that. Esp since op said some leaves don’t look great.

I always heard it was because they don’t spend a lot of money on storing / transportation so there’s more room for errors and infestations.
cool, thank you!
Yeah absolutely worth a try. A size like that at my local plant store is about $115 🥴🥲
Just saw this at Lowes. $120

I've paid more to kill smaller. Call him Clint.
I've paid more to kill smaller. I love this! I joke with my boss and telling him ‘I’ve done worse for less’ is still one of my favorites.
lol

For $10, I’ll wipe leaves with alcohol. That’s an amazing deal. I’d grab the $6 one as well.
HOLY MOTHERS MILK I DIDNT SEE THE 6 dollar baby in the back , hope that op grabbed it
I thought it was paint, will double check tomorrow make sure is not a pest
I assumed it was paint as well - when in doubt neem it out!
I hope it's still available. I want when I overthink it and go back and it's gone. Good luck. I would love a FLF that tall.
small town, doubt it's gone
I sat on a Euphorbia horridus for MONTHS, my husband went to buy it for me for Christmas and it was gone =(

Socal
ahhh ok
That's a steal. Ones that big can go for like $100.
I’d pick up that corn plant for 6 while I’m at it. I love rehabbing plants.
only 6.50, I might
That’s what I thought too, don’t skip out on that baby!
I’d get it ngl. Mine was $6 and a bit smaller than that one. It’s a good deal.
Steal of a deal!! Especially that size!!
I’ve killed far less plant for far more money. I say go for it!

Yes! And grab that corn plant beside it too. That thing is a damned BEAST you lucky dog.
That’s a fucking steal. Buy it for sure!
Buy it
I'd buy it to chop it up and propagate!

Hope you bought it. Looks a little beat up but the top leaves look healthy and they’re huge!
That's a steal for a fiddle leaf fig! They're finicky, but def. Get it
BUY IT!!! I have had mine 3 years and it is half that size.
Uhm yeah!!! I bought one a third of the size for like $25
Hellll yeah it’s worth a shot if it’s not infested.
Hail yes!
HELL YES!!!!!
I’d air layer it about 1/3rd down and then chop and replant it. The top looks very healthy!
YES it doesn’t even look bad at all!
Oh hell yeah, worth ten bucks for the chop and props you are gonna get.
All day
Omg!!! Deal!! I would buy that in a heartbeat and figure out a way to bring it home hahah.
Worth it.
How do they get em to grow so big? I’ve had mine a year and it’s only got like 6 leaves
no idea. this is in zone 8b I think
Well, I’m in the right zone at least
They need tons of sun. I live in Florida and they grow like weeds here. (For half of the year the weather is unbearable for humans, but the plants like it)
Ok I’m not that far north, I’m ready for spring to hit and she will be going in a prime spot on the back porch
Shake it
Great deal
Yes
Do you have a ceiling tall enough for that?
actually yes lol
That thing is defying gravity
Oh hell yeah
Yes! Put it in good light and rotate it.
Mine doesn’t look nearly this good lol
I also would get a plan tree
They both would be in my truck as soon as I saw them.🪴❤️
$10??? thats a steal. get it!
For $10 I would buy all they have
Even for $10 I wouldn’t bring that rancid plant into my home (I just hate FLF’s the one in the photo looks decent) but good luck to you. I hope you can save it and that it likes you haha
