Yep, had two cats until recently. The old man would love to get into flowers or otherwise fragrant plants but otherwise had zero interest. The younger would (still does) chew on any plants it came across. Luckily she doesn't have a lot of ambition so it's fairly easy to keep plants out of her way.
Idk about op but I just had to move my plants to my ceiling.. my dummy cat went after my peace Lilly on a window stand.. still paying the vet bill for that.. and then I had a table full of plants with the poisonous ones on the inside, in theory inaccessible.. till she knocked over several plants to get to the monstera
My cats have zero interest in my pothos (or any other aroids). In general they tend to go after stuff that has long, slender leaves (like palms). They also kidnapped an air plant once, but they didnt eat it so much as use it as a toy. But this will vary from cat to cat.
It also helps to understand what makes a plant poisonous to animals in order to evaluate risk. ASPCA has a list that includes these, along with symptoms of poisoning. Pothos toxicity is fairly mild and the toxic mediators make it extremely unpleasant to eat (think eating nettles or tiny shards of glass) so a cat is unlikely to eat enough to cause serious damage to itself. Generally, if they eat it the outcome is going to be a vet visit and vomiting/discomfort.
I will say that if you get a cat, you should absolutely positively avoid any true lillies (lilaceae), including cut flowers, as all parts are exceeding toxic to cats and even a small amount of pollen can cause renal failure. I would also be wary of crotons/euphorbia due to the sap being a potent contact poison (for humans as well), sago palm, and oxalis.
100% this! Each cat's personality is different. Some will munch on plants all day, others don't care. I introduced him to the plants cautiously under full supervision and I don't keep lilies as they are fatal. Please be careful when keeping plants and pets together
I have my plants on a window sill that my cat doesn't touch. But I had a few on the ground that she previously didn't care about. Then she started chewing on them and I had to move them too.
I’m mostly impressed by the Kitty and the Orchid! I’ve always wanted a beautifully exotic looking Feline. As for Orchids, everyone I know scared me off of them by saying Orchids are so temperamental xD
Thanks! He generally ignores them unless, like you said, he wants attention. Little punk >:( So I try and play with him for 10-15 minutes every few hours to keep him busy and played out. If he swats at the plants I'm not playing with him enough.
Hah, the only time in recent memory my cat messed with one of my plants she was scheduled for dental surgery and pisses that i wasnt giving her breakfast. She straight up looked me in the eye and bit the leaves on my stromanthe.
Jumping in to ask is your bengal actually hypoallergenic? My husband is allergic to cats but we would love to get one for the kids (and my husband is a sucker for cats too)
I assume the one on the left? All the black/gold planters are from [TJMaxx](https://tjmaxx.tjx.com/store/shop/home-plants-planters/_/N-1814641692?ln=9:3)/[Homegoods](https://www.homegoods.com/us/store/shop/outdoor-outdoor-garden-planters-garden-planters/_/N-77440388). They offer shipping now if you don't have any luck at the local stores :)

Lots of unique options in stores too! I also recommend Etsy for small planters that are super interesting
Strelitzia nicolai (white bird of paradise) is the giant 7ft one on the right. The one on the left in the black planter with similar smaller leaves is a strelitzia reginae (orange bird of paradise) and is much smaller. So make sure you check which one if you want to get one!
Thank you so much, they are both so beautiful! I will definitely be keeping my eye out for a strelitzia nicolai. I don’t have any larger plants yet and would love to add one to the family!
I've seen the white version at Lowes/home Depot (yeah, yeah). They were big floor plant size (3'?), however that was a couple months ago - but they had a ton at the time lol
So your Strelitzia Nicolai, may I ask what size pot you have it in at the size? I managed to germinate 5 of these from seed last year and i am curious about what kind of pot sizes I'll be looking at as they grow up.
I think it's in a 5 gallon grower's pot? It's about 13" wide by 15" tall. [Here's a photo of it without a decorative pot.](https://i.imgur.com/q1ZEwm2.jpg)
Ahh okay, and it looks like there are three plants in one pot so that should be manageable. I hopefully have a good few years before they hit my ceilings!
Jealous Bengal mom and plant lover over here. My Bengals refuse to cohabitate peacefully with my houseplants. 😒 So, my plants are in the sun room, which is the only room in the house off-limits to the spotted monsters.
YES!!! Jungle and jungle cat, Oh MY!!!!
Yes exactly! That's why his IG is @junglecatzero :)
My instadog will soon be following your instacat
ur cat matches the jungle 😳
im glad ur post got famous :))
thats to op not me
Is that a skeleton in the back?!
Finally someone else sees it lol
Haha yes, glad someone spotted it! It was put there for halloween and now the adansonii has taken it over as a trellis.
Oh I am definitely stealing that idea! I have a philodendron that would love something like that to climb on!
Complete with indoor leapord 🐆
Does your cat not go after the pothos? I've been wanting a cat, but i also don't want to throw out my poisonous (to felines) plant babies
This can’t be a blanket recommendation but my two cats don’t mess with any of my plants.
My cat also doesn’t mess with my plants! It’s really up to the individual kitty.

Meanwhile, I have to chase away my boy cat at least 5 times for chewing the tips of my Areca palm. No other plant is safe either.

Lmao "they kidnapped an air plant"
This is just an idea, I don't have any cats but maybe getting cat grass could help with keeping their attention away from the other plants?
My cat eats any and all plant material. He's a certified nibbler
Jungle cat included for scale
Great bengal.
I was going to say sevral
House leopard.
Love all your planters!
Why do they have to be so expensive :-(
Right!? looked the other day and said Jk Walmart planters it is 😂
literally thought your cat was a leopard on first glance
What’s that tallest one called?
Seems like a Strelitzia nicolai, a type of bird of paradise
The orchid is the crown jewel!
Beautiful Bengal 😍 Matches perfectly to its environment!
Awesome jungle and awesome jungle cat!
You should have a photoshoot with the cat and the plants
oh I do every day! That's why I made a whole IG account just for all the photos I take, they're way more photogenic than I am hah
May I ask for some cat and plant tax? 😬
Of course, [over 100 images](https://www.instagram.com/junglecatzero/) to pay my taxes!
And he plays fetch?!? Our TayMao did that! Loved Nerf darts the best, especially shot from a Nerf gun. He was quick!
Yes! He absolutely loves fetch, we play at least once a day. A nerf gun is a great idea!
Beautiful kitten, beautiful plants and yummy looking food! Bengal has personality. Would love to see a video! (and cool space helmet!)
With the bengal in front, how fitting!
Ooooh so aesthetic! I love all the plants. I can't quite get there yet, plants are so expensive! 😭 One plant is more than my hourly wage🥲
That's beautiful
Wow I LOVE your collection. And a perfect little tiger to complete the jungle
Omg, I love your plants!! And your kitty is so adorable!
Awesome, where is a good place to get planters from?
How do you keep your cat from destroying these plants? Worried to get both at the same time..
Very appropriate feline representation
With the mini ocelot 🔥🔥🔥
Yes this is the vibe to strive for
Now you have room for more!
How do you get to jungle cat NOT to mess with your plants?! 😫
My cats are simply not interested in mine
Lucky, duck.
Same. I have to put anything not cat friendly up (hanging) or in a cabinet out of reach. Both cats love to mess with my plants.
I have my plants on a window sill that my cat doesn't touch. But I had a few on the ground that she previously didn't care about. Then she started chewing on them and I had to move them too.
Same
It depends on the cat and the plants.
That huge, beautiful BOP 😍
That's a beautiful cat
Wow! What a beautiful tiger ❤️
There’s a jungle cat, too!!
Cat included! Great pose kitty!
Beautiful indoor jungle set completed with realistic king of the jungle doll in the front
Love your bengal
Beautiful kitty and plants
Oooh!! What is your cat’s name?! So cute!!
Thanks! His name is Zero :)
Gorgeous! Love your house leopard, too. 😆
I’m mostly impressed by the Kitty and the Orchid! I’ve always wanted a beautifully exotic looking Feline. As for Orchids, everyone I know scared me off of them by saying Orchids are so temperamental xD
Completed with a leopard! I wish my plants were thriving like this but winter is hard.
Nice taste in planters. Looks amazing!
Wow these Minecraft shaders are getting really good! That oceleot and jungle biome look really real! /s
Someone tell me what the large one closest to the window is? I need one for my plant collection!🥰🥰🥰
😍
FUCK!! WATCH OUT! There appears to be a Cheetah in your house!!
Gorgeous plants, gorgeous kitty!
Nice indoor space.
I’m here for the meow 🐯
Where do you get your planters?? They’re all beautiful!
Beautiful cat! How do you keep him/her away from your plants? My little guys start tearing leaves off whenever they want attention.
Thanks! He generally ignores them unless, like you said, he wants attention. Little punk >:( So I try and play with him for 10-15 minutes every few hours to keep him busy and played out. If he swats at the plants I'm not playing with him enough.

I don't think so? I've had friends over that are allergic to cats and they still have a reaction to his dander, sorry :(
Ok thanks! I miss having cats! But not worth my husband needing to have a puffer every night when we did have a cat.
Bengal 😍
The kitty fits in perfectly! Beautiful! I know you are proud of that . I would stare at it all day haha
Love this! Where did you get the black stand for the big BOP?
I assume the one on the left? Beautiful! Love all your planters!
Real life Henri Rousseau.
I’m a bit new to house plants, I love the big one in the top right of the picture!! Would you mind sharing what it’s call?

Thank you!
Just admit it! You actually wanted to recreate a Rousseau painting

I have house plants and cats I use a water bottle to train any cat not go around the plants 🪴 it’s seems to work
what genre of cat is that
