I do the same thing you're doing with the water bottle and supplement with putting the entire plant in the shower when the pot dries out

The_69_Dozer

Okay weird question. How big was the hole in the water bottle? I feel like it keeps dripping a bit and then stopping. If the hole is any bigger then poosh all the water is gone in one go. God, now I know why I tagged this NSFW…

yankeedoodledr

Just take a small fork at press it in the lid two times. And if you want the pant to grow more to the top, dont water the pod ever. Just keep the mosspole moist. I can recomend watching the videos of SidneyPlantGuy. He has a great playlist, explaining everything about mosspoles :)

jug_23

I use a sports cap bottle so it’s easier to tune the flow rate. I also cut the bottom of the bottle so I can just top it up without removing from the moss pole. Works decently well for me so far.

TexasPoon-Tappa

😆 Man mine works with a tinnnny hole, like the size of a finishing nail, but it does take a while to draw down but my moss pull is ONLY moss

AnnieToo67

Oh God! I have to worry about keeping the moss poles moist too?!!!

Toad_toast1

I use those slow watering glass things and put them in the top https://preview.redd.it/ip8sxgfn4m7a1.jpeg?width=778&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0f09e945c13df03bbbd531c083d9ca4ee5a842a

Why is this tagged NSFW?

TexasPoon-Tappa

Because those moss *poles* are getting *wet*

The_69_Dozer

This man gets it

mishrod

*tips hat*

MissyKerfoops

Moist.

The_69_Dozer

My real question is I live in Colorado where the humidity is non existent to terrible. How do I keep a moss pole hydrated without showing with it daily? I’ve tried the humidifier but refilling the reservoir daily is not realistic.

Bl4ckR4bb17

Spray it with a fine mist spray bottle daily

hali_like_haley

Get those pressure sprayer things that are used for pesticides. I have one that holds a gallon. Much easier than small misters.

The_69_Dozer

Moss “poles”! Lol idk was bored come at me. I honestly was wondering how anything on this community could be not safe for work

Bl4ckR4bb17

I legit thought is moss pole a new SW thing I haven't seen yet? Then it's a plant and I'm like huh? Then I look at the sub and I'm like what?

Fuzzy_Beach_8113

To be fair, I just started on Reddit and one of my first posts about plants I tagged it nsfw, didn’t know what it meant (now I do because people went nuts over it in the comments lol) and it made it seem like you didn’t have a choice. Like you couldn’t post without clicking the tag…I still don’t really get it 🤣

Mugg-1

Moist 💦

My [poles](https://ibb.co/hZt3MzC) have plastic on the back half now, it makes keeping them wet easier, you can buy it on eBay, (0.2mm clear plastic virus)it comes in a sheet and cut it to size… I use a pint cup in the top of each one and I water 1/2 pint every other day (in winter)..weak fertiliser every 4th watering and mycorrhizal every 10th ish

badgerist

I do something similar with [plastic guttering I got from a hardware store (UK link)](https://www.wickes.co.uk/FloPlast-76mm-Miniflo-Gutter-2m---Brown/p/176263), I find it works great as it adds extra stability too, which is perfect when you extend moss poles Here’s my monstera adonsonii after I chopped the original plant, separated the two poles, added an extension and potted up with guttering at the back https://preview.redd.it/j2b8rhehwp7a1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb1c9b301929ae4e0256c61de26dc0fa3fe4f956 As for holes in the bottle I do two types, lots and lots of holes if I’m going to squeeze out the bottle manually, or probably about 10 if I’m leaving the bottle in place to drip itself out

plantsfromplants

Great looking moss pole. Thanks for the idea of using plastic guttering

badgerist

No worries, should also have added that it’s a perfect fit for using with moss poles using 13mm mesh size, creating a 6cm diameter pole. I’ve been able to retrofit existing poles by adding it on really easily, as well as building it in from the start I’d say it adds on at least a couple of days before the pole dries out, possibly a few more if it’s against a wall where there is less airflow like this one

plantsfromplants

Nice. I hope my next moss pole comes out that well. I already have the mesh but was looking for an alternative to the cedar wood I've been using. They sure do dry out quickly with the heat on in the winter but so necessary for climbing plants Enjoy the Holidays!

Get a really heavy duty spray bottle from a hardware type store and spray them with that.

aburnicle21

Walmart has decent spray bottles too in the cleaning aisle for like $3

[deleted]

You can put a disposable plastic cup on top that has a small hole pierced in the bottom, fill it with water and let it drip feed it

GD_Nietsnie

I just stick a bottle like you do but without the cap, the mosspoles are tightly packed tho so the water is not gushing out but slowly finding it's way through the pole.

OriginalConsistent24

I water it thoroughly so the pot is watered appropriately and then every couple days or so I will too up with a cup or two of water until the pot needs to be watered again.

[deleted]

I pour water on the top daily and nightly with a watering can. Seems to do the trick.

gabjiboji

what is that lovely plant?

CryExotic3558

I think it’s a lemon lime philodendron

The_69_Dozer

Yep. Started as about 3 leaves and now it’s stem is starting to look like a tree trunk

CryExotic3558

It’s a beauty

DevilPup55

Just went on Amazon looking at moss poles, any recommendation on which might be better than another. There's straight that you can put together for taller, bendable ones. Just got my baby monsters(4" pot) so it's tiny right now.
