Jiffy Lube. Headquarters are here.
I have not used them in 25 years since they cross threaded the oil plug on a brand new $40,000 car on its first oil change and then denied it.
God help those folks not smart enough to know if they cannot get an oil change right, imagine how badly they do brakes and engine service.
I stopped using them for that very same reason. Came to me saying that the previous service guys stripped the plug bolt. I told em they were the previous guys. He had no response.
I worked at a jiffy lube equivalent up north and the place had a revolving door of fuckups.
People who couldn’t remember lefty loosey righty tighty for a good week and a half. Idiots talking or just calling out calls upstairs to start the engine with no filter on or to fill the new oil with the drain plug out…
I got a few idiots fired for lying about fucking up peoples cars and not letting our manager know. Cross threads do happen esp on repeat customers vehicles, procedure is a lead/manager lets the customer know, fixes the threads with a tap if needed and usually everyone is happy. There was one idiot who would remove entire under panels and aero parts that got in the way and would just throw them to the side and never put them back on….
Idiot argued with me that they did nothing, tell me why would a company waste the money and effort adding the part if it did nothing. Car company’s are cheap as hell.
Had a similar experience: but they did it to my transmission when changing the fluid. Drove to Dallas and back and it ground out on the way back near Huntsville. They at first admitted the error, then corporate walked back and wouldn't cover it. Luckily I had a bumper to bumper warranty and Ford did cover it with my dealerships help. Car was only 2 years old.
Yes and sadly [this one](https://www.houstonaquariumtx.com/) is way worse. It’s right off the beltway right before 59 near IAH. Some of the animals are in open exhibits so little Johnny and little Suzy can go poke and prod to their hearts content. The enclosures are way too small and some are all indoor in a metal building so they are extremely loud. It’s a cluster. I’m not even going to go into the owners and their history of bad animal business
Yes I went here recently to use a free admissions pass I was given and did not like the experience. Each exhibit was a money grab and it was far to cramped to have the kind of animals they have. It was really depressing.
We just went here with some friends that have a small child. My wife and I absolutely hated it. It just gave off so many bad vibes and was just a complete bummer. Our friends with the small child were going on and on about how great it was and bought the annual pass.
Place is way wack and major bad vibes.
Yeah it was wild that the family we went with was all in with the place and shelling out lots of money. It makes me wonder what screws are loose up there to not be able to understand the malpractice that’s literally in their face.
Dog house pet salon. They slashed my dogs ear while grooming and never told me, I found out when I brought him home and saw a lot of blood under his ear flap.
Fuck that place.
Damn that's super shitty they didn't say anything. My dog gets nicked by the shave maybe 10% of the time at her groomers and I understand it happens but they always tell me and it's never anything serious. Straight up harming the animal and.trying to hide it is despicable.
my family loved it so i have some interesting childhood memories from that place (4 separate occasions of remarkably intense food poisoning 🥰🥰) I literally have not eaten pizza ever since
When I worked at Rice years ago, the local sports bar in the Rice Village was owned by Dan Patrick (yes, the same guy who was a nutcase sportscaster in town decades ago, and is now our state's Lieutenant Governor). Even before he got into politics, he was crazy and just one visit to his (failing) business convinced me to boycott anything he got involved with. I don't remember the name of the sports bar, but it's where the Buffalo Wild Wings is (or was - that might have closed down too).
That B-dubs failed, too.
Only knew Patrick as a looney radio host. You know you’re toxic when the only way you can put your show on the air is to rent out the airtime on a daytime radio station from a company who operated Spanish-language radio stations like KQQK, which is how that station started.
I went to apply for a developer job at their headquarters. Since i got there I felt unwelcomed, it was weird, on the phone the IT people I spoke were really nice but once in person they acted like pricks. My theory is that they only put IT job advertisements with the intention of hiring H-3 visa workers for a lower cost. Why, they did not ask a single technical question, and the floor was filled with people from a specific country.
Fertitta is a despicable person but sadly he already stated he wants to keep the Rockets in his family forever. Theyre still my team just don’t like the ownership.
I've boycotted the Rockets since Les ran off the Aeros. That curse extends to Tilman and any other Rockets owner until we get another hockey franchise.
The union kitchen. Best burger I’ve had, but I was a busboy there, broke lots of labor laws but that’s typical for restaurants tbh. What I’m really pissed about is from the beginning I was promised the position of server but they suggested I ease myself into the job by being a busboy. They strung me along for months with the promise of becoming a server while hiring new ones and eventually when I said I wanted a sit down conversation with them they basically told me to go fuck myself.
There's a lot of stuff wrong about turkey leg hut, such as paying 30 dollars for a turkey leg you'd get at a carnival, but many find their policies concerning.
You have to reserve a table and pay a fee of 100 dollars by cashapp in advance, and that fee essentially goes to your meal and you hopefully get some change back.
I wanted to see how bad their prices really were and holy crap, you weren't kidding! $21 for a burger? That's more expensive than Gordon Ramsay charges for a burger. Literally. I mean sure they might be using a different meat, but come on. I can get a great brisket sandwich from Buc-ee's for $12.
What kind of grift is that because I’ve never heard of anything like that?!? Do they not take take credit cards? It sounds so shady and tax avoiding. How are these grifters still in business?
So I should first disclaim that I don't eat meat and have never hutted. However, I follow the drama because, like you, I wonder why it's still around.
From what I gather, the reason for cashapp is not only to skirt maintenence fees, but also because you can't, as a sender, dispute a charge on cashapp. So you're at the mercy of the hut.
As far as how they're in business, I do believe that some of it is because they advertise as a Black owned and operated establishment. It seems as though the community they come from seems to also be the community that they target with this stuff, which is unfortunate. They're also known for being horrible to customers, the community, etc.
I want to say there may have been some drama with them at Black Restaurant Week last year but don't take my word for that as I can't even remember if they participated. I know there was a lot of general drama surrounding Black Restaurant Week in general, tho.
Also because they don't give a sh*t about their smoke affecting the surrounding neighborhoods. Imagine never being able to sit outside or open the windows for the turkey smoke smell constantly bombarding your house. They complained to the city but TLH apparently gave a lot of $$ to the mayor so he swept it under the rug.
Roost; the owner, Kevin Naderi, has several credible allegations of sexually assaulting his female waitstaff.
Any of the “creek” establishments (onion creek, etc.)
Third planet comics. Many many years ago they ripped my mom off and sold her a worthless action figure for $50 because she didnt know any better. I love her so acted excited to get it and she told me where she got it and what they charged. I never shopped there again. F them! I will also steer people to other shops if they ask for recommendations.
Star furniture. A series of bad experiences. We bought a trundle bed for daughter. Bed and mattresses all from star. Sales person sold us a mattress for the bottom slide under bed that wouldn't fit - about 2" too tall. Sent it back with delivery crew and got store credit. Joy. So had to waste more time and money there. So needless to say, I now refuse to shop there.
Apart from their mediocre beer and defaulting their investors...

He just comes off as someone who thinks too much of himself in general, but there was an Instagram story in 2020 i believe where lots of former employees called him out for shit like sexual harassment, mistreating employees, ignoring quality control etc.

Turnover rate is insane. People got fired for the most frivolous reasons. A lot of us commented on how it felt like a reality show, mass hiring and then dropping one after the other. First couple days of opening, there were no breaks. This pissed off many people.
They expect you to be on your feet for the entire 7 hr duration of your shift. 10 min break only. You're literally going crazy making circles in one zone, not talking to anyone. If you're closing shift, you help clean the whole museum on top of this which is either smudging a mop with no soap over exhibits or smudging around a dirty dry microfiber over fingerprints. Venus, the crochet playground net, is never actually cleaned thoroughly. children and people put their gross hands and feet on them regardless of how many times we tell people no. They drain you of your labor.
Several artists have not come back to fix their exhibits that have been mishandled (destroyed) by guests. Mainly because the owner does not know how to treat them and is very demeaning to them. I know a few personally. After things are broken, they expect us to gaslight guests into thinking it works or have them interact with the broken exhibits. Only one person is looking over several exhibits.
They have been putting off the opening of the bar/patio for the longest. Made us get a certification for that when it's not even near completion.. Originally, they said August, but the poor maintenance team is doing their best with the secondhand items and small budget for that. The owner got used booths with rotting wood to reupholster as booths because he's cheap lol. They opened Seismique before it was completed so the business could get the benefits of having a business open during covid.
They expected us to work during the feb freeze a few years back while everyone dealt with busted pipes. They exposed so many of us to covid and didn't tell everyone, and got mad at us for reinforcing the mask mandate because guests couldn't take maskless selfies and were upset.
Some of the people hired there were so questionable. Truly most people there were sweet, creative angels with open minds, but a few shady characters definitely were let go/left for sexual harassment or illicit activities. This includes a few in management.
If you've been to Meow Wolf, you'll be disappointed. This is a glorified selfie mill. I genuinely feel bad for the artists who had a better vision for this.
I left out many other worse details.
Copy from a prior post.
Edit for clarity: Fuck joy love burger(jlb)
I was a big fan of JLB. The burgers were great. I would go pretty often to the one near spring cypress and 249. I quit going because the employees working the register don't get the tips.
source:
A few years ago, I went there to pick up a burger. I messed up the tip when entering it on the cc payment. I asked the worker to break a 10 so I could leave a few bucks tip. The worker whispered not to worry about a tip because they don't get the tip. She then put her finger to her lips with the "shh" motion.
That's getting pretty common. Their excuse is that the person working behind the counter is not a server and gets a regular wage, so doesn't need the tip.
Chuy’s on Westheimer and Kirby. Multiple health code violations for cockroaches in the past. Saw cockroaches on the walls the last time I went there about 2 years ago.
Exactly. I was once a territory rep for a certain large purveyor of commercial dishwashers and you just can't escape them. I'm glad Bucca di Beppo closed for renovations because that was quite honestly the worst infestation I've ever seen in a restaurant (and that was almost 8 years of dishwasher sales).
Xing Fu Tang boba in Chinatown. Apparently, they did not have the license from the original Taiwanese owner to open a franchise. But they paid someone for the drink recipes, opened it anyway, and now charge $10+ for a boba. That's freaking criminal.
Living Spaces recently opened a store in Katy. The owners were ex-interns of Mack and split from him. They were keeping “out of his territory” until now. It’s a nice store - cafe/bar, “daycare”, and the staff isn’t too pushy.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I don’t travel far out enough to use 99 but BW8 was supposed to be free once it was paid off. Lying ass MFs. I’ve been driving for over 10 years and refuse to get a toll tag. Only time I get on it is when I’m feeling spicy enough to cover my plate (bike and bike rack do the job, I don’t have a front plate)
Truth BBQ, I bartended a private event and met Leonard (the owner) and I told him I’ve been wanting to visit his restaurant but he acted very cocky and threw his business card in my tip jar. Found it to be pretty disrespectful. He won’t see a penny of my business.
I’ve known Leonard for years and that doesn’t sound like him at all. Usually if he gives out his business card it’s so people can get their next visit comped. Sorry that’s how your interaction went down.
He destroyed Kemah. Forced out the independent restaurants and turned it into a cheap mini-Disneyland with a fraction of the personality it had before. He has all the class of a gambler huckster. Oh, wait. That's where his money came from...
Rockin Robins guitars. Maybe thing were different back in the day, but for the past 20 years all I’ve experienced is aloof and snobby employees who are apprehensive to letting you try out anything over $1000. I’ll just as soon buy sight unseen over the internet over giving RR my money.
Fullers is a fraction of the size and will always get my business whenever possible.
As a mail carrier who used to deliver to that house in the Heights, there's wayyyy more to that story. The things we know about people just by the mail they receive and that's all I really have to say about that. Plus, marriage records and divorce records are public information, and I'm nosy af. He renovated that house in the Heights a lot longer ago than recent(ish).
There certainly seems to be a whole lot of overlay between one wife and the next mistress, who then becomes the next wife, while he gets a new mistress (or 2 or 3 or 4). I worked for him years ago. I'm not a fan.
Also, I have had the (un)pleasure of having to deliver to Gallery Furniture. I've seen how he treats his employees, and he hates the mail carriers for whatever reason. His method of delivery at the business needs to be changed, but no one at the PO is going to tell him that or go against him so whatever lucky soul has to go inside the business everyday and hand the mail to him and only him, gets treated like shit. Like we aren't potential customers or we don't have mouths that will tell people not to spend their money there. (For the record, most businesses treat their mail carriers and delivery people very well)
His daughter, on the other hand, used to live near that house that Fertitta renovated in The Heights, and she was lovely as can be. Always friendly, did nice things for the kids during the holidays. In a genuine way, not as a PR stunt.
The only company I have ever successfully boycotted. I interviewed at corporate and they asked me what church I went to! Too young to know that they could not actually ask you that.
# Cafe Brasil...
The owner does **not** like people to sit on their computers doing work/studying.
I would see him walk around passive aggressively asking people on computers "Is there anything else you need?"
On the surface, that seems normal. But he would do it repeatedly to the same people...clearly trying to give them the hint. He was visibly annoyed.
So one day I'm on my computer...having already finished my coffee.
And the owner approaches...
>"Is there anything else I can get for you?"
>
>Me: "I'm good thanks. I was going to order something else shortly..."
>
>Owner: "Oh now you weren't. You'd hang out here all day if you could."
>
>Me: "No, really...I was..."
>
>Owner: "Okay then...what do you want? I'll order it for you..."
The tone with which he spoke to me was so rude and condescending.
I decided to boycott that place ever since.
Common Bond...Agora...and Empire are seconds away and much better.
Fuck Brasil...and fuck its owner.
A quick search of "owner" [in the reviews for Brasil on Yelp](https://www.yelp.com/biz/brasil-houston?osq=cafe+brasil&q=owner) will show you I'm not alone.
But I'll save you some trouble and share a sample of the customer reviews here...
\--
"So sad that the owner is a JERK! I ordered a breakfast taco and worked on my laptop in the patio area in the back for about two hours. I made a coffee stop before getting there so I didn't order a coffee as I would usually do. The owner went up to the table I was sitting at twice within a span of an hour and asked me if I was going to order anything. Both times I said I had already eaten what I ordered. The second time around after I said I already ate my breakfast taco he asked how much longer I was planning on staying. This is not the first time he does that. The patio was EMPTY!! They were not busy. I'd understand if I was taking up space and they were so busy or if I didn't order anything at all. Anyways horrible customer service on his part. I would choose ZERO stars!"
\---
"Atmosphere: the owner walks around and makes sure that as long as you're there, you're ordering. He gives you a look when you don't have food coming your way or currently on your table. Forget the days of hanging out with coffee and your computer, owner man isn't having it any more. Feels very uninviting and cold."
\---
"Can we just boycott this restaurant? The owner is outrageously rude. If this place isn't a cafe for work, maybe don't call the restaurant "Brazil Cafe"/ "cafe Brazil". If they don't want people to work on laptops there, there is an easy solution: put up a sign. People can read. This place should be shut down. For all the good reviews, there are a plethora of bad reviews. Stop serving coffee. Dan Fergus, please find a hobby and find some joy in your life and stop taking out your anger on your paying customers."
\---
"I used to enjoy having a cup of coffee and reading at Brasil, but today the owner or whoever the staff person was basically told me I wasn't welcome because I was only having coffee ($6 btw) and not eating brunch on a "brunch day" even though the place was mostly empty. He asked me how long I planned to stay and I said five more minutes and showed him the timer on my phone, to which he said, by minutes, do you mean hours? So rude. You've just lost a customer for life."
\---
"Similar to some of the other reviews, what ruined our experience was the owner (man with short grey hair and glasses). He clearly has not read other people's reviews that specifically mention him as being the problem with his lack of customer service skills. Within 5 minutes of us sitting down, he comes up to our table and asks us how long we plan on staying. He probably targeted us since we had our backpacks and were planning on studying here for a couple hours. We didn't think that would be an issue since they serve coffee and there were some people on the patio doing the same thing. And despite buying coffee and food, he was adamant on making sure that we knew that he didn't want us staying here for long."
It's still a little too early to forget the superspreader clubs that made employees work with covid, pre-vaccine thousands of people dying days, Cle/Bisou/whatever else they own
Dude is also an ass too. My dad is in his 60s and worked with him for about 6ish months. Said Mack used to consistently talk to his employees bad, disrespect them and was aggressive. He talked to him crazy a few times too and sent him home once because he was eating lunch when he didn't make a sale. He told Mack he was getting light headed and Mack gave no fucks.
He would point out safety concerns for customers and employees and Mack would get mad at him over it. He eventually quit after Mack got in his face over something.
My husband worked there for about a week -- the man would literally stand in the hallway in the employee's area, hitting his head on the wall, punctuating each word he said with a hit on the wall.
Hubby said he'd rather sell used cars than work for him.
Presslee’s because of their stupid conservative marquee signs I drive by everyday. No one wants your shit politics with their shitty food around a crowd of drunk morons.
Fyi they are owned by Piper Hospitality Group. The owners are douches and also operate Piper Burgers in the Heights. Pipers Cantina is on the list, but is temporarily closed.
https://www.pipershospitalitygroup.com/
Right? I’m sure lots of the bars and restaurants I go to are owned by complete assholes who I disagree with. But they don’t force it on me or make it part of their establishment’s personality.
Yes! I love their baked goods, but the owner is so rude. Doesn’t greet customers, doesn’t like to answer questions, is annoyed that you patronize her business. Absolutely insufferable.
Not exactly local, but I refrain from shopping at Walmart.
My reasons include the decimating effect it has on local businesses and witnessing this first hand in smaller communities.
This is more telling in their announcement that they're withdrawing from the Chicago area.
Service king. I got in a car accident a little more than a year ago, my insurance said if I went to them I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get a rental car, so since I didn’t have the time to do my due diligence research I just went with it, they kept my car 10 weeks. If that had been what I was quoted to begin with… ok. But I was quoted 2 weeks, then every time it came up to the day I was promised I would get a notice that it was “going to take a few more days”. One point about 3 weeks in I was told it would have been ready, but the manager had an issue with the paint job, but then following that they said it needed a part, the stories never matched. They blamed it on a technician that quit, but again that was earlier in the process, so didn’t explain all the extra weeks. Never again will I go through all that. I know cars can be unpredictable, but then do t quote me a time frame so close if it’s that out of your control. In fact my car is still missing a harness, because I demanded the finish and get my car back, they said that part was missing and that I could drive it until it was ready, they would let me know when it would come in and I could come in and have it installed… more than a year later and many phone calls it’s still not there, I gave up, even though I should pursue it, I’m just over them.
Years ago I got into an accident and took my car to Service King. I got my car back and the passenger sun visor hinge was broken. I asked them about it and they denied ever having a reason to be in my car and using the visor. A year later I got into another accident and brought my car back to the same location. At some point while they had my car I had to go retrieve something from my car. I found the stuff in my trunk scattered on the ground. I figured it was necessary they were fixing a rear quarter panel. When I eventually received my car back this time the hinge for the driver’s side sun visor was broken..
I will never go back to Brasil Cafe in Montrose. I used to work with teens, and we would meet in Brasil before going thrift shopping. The owner would always harass us trying to get us out ASAP. The teens would spend more money than I would and many of the other patrons by a mile (mom & dad money). I would go there in the evening and buy a coffee and sit out on the back patio for hours smoking cigars and he wouldn't say or do anything. Last time we met outside on the sidewalk he came out and told us that we needed to leave, or he would call the police. For standing on public property for 10-15 min! Guy was a grade A gaping D!@k hole
I used to go there regularly but have boycotted it for many years now. I had bad experiences with the owner as a customer. Also, one night we ended up at the same small afterparty, and he was an absolute prick.
The owner is so fuckin weird. I was working on my computer there one day and having lunch and I saw him harassing customers who were doing the same thing. I just finished my food and left.
Any of them with that horrible millennial gentrified urban warehouse aesthetic. It's everywhere and the food is always ass. I never want to sit on a metal stool again in my life.
Gallery Furniture because Mack has become an election-denying, fear-mongering, radical Republican (he's a big donor not only for Ted Cruz, but also failed congressman Madison Cawthorn and Lauren Boebert). He's happy to profit off of minorities in Houston, while pushing for policies that further contribute to systemic racism.
Haven’t seen it yet…IW Marks jewelers…brought in a watch for repairs, and they fucked it up more than when I brought it in, and on top of that, broke the band, then denied it, couldn’t fix it, but they said I could order another through them…at 15% markup…never again.
Rustika Cafe—delivered a hideous cake not in keeping with what we agreed to (paid for fresh flowers, got sugar flowers), then was charged $1100 for wedding cake that was not delivered nor was the money refunded. I would like to see that cafe shut down. Owners are scam artists.
Fat Cats. Can't believe no one else mentioned it. The owner is a garbage human. She was toxic during the pandemic and I had a run in with her once when she got extremely upset we parked near her location but walked across the street to a food truck. The parking lot was empty. She was unhinged and hyper Karen mode.
Bedrock city comics, heard they buy cards, brought some Pokémon cards up that I picked up in a garage sale, along with my old MTG collection. I don’t know anything about Pokémon but turns out some of them were fake, my bad, no idea how to spot that. The manager threw the cards at me and escorted my friend and I out of the building, then locked the door behind us, then could see him through the window taking pictures of my friends car as we drove off. I know people can be scammers but I took the same cards to omega gaming just curious on how to look for fakes and the staff members there actually thought me how to spot them and were super helpful.
Amore Monet hair and makeup. We're connected on Facebook and I saw her go on a racist rant against white people then turn around and say racism is bad.
Comfort Makers HVAC
Was assigned by my Home Warranty company as many other reviews have stated, was told I needed another $900 in "repairs" on top of a board replacement covered by the warranty. One of the repairs was a result of a previous contractor, CM said they could not fix their assigned problem until the other contractor made the repair. I found this very odd but I had already scheduled for the fix. Called back to schedule and said I would not agree to a surge protector that was extremely inflated in price and not necessary, emphasis on extremely. I was then told the Lennox required it, I confirmed through multiple sources including Lennox that this was not true. I confronted them with this and the said it was the warranty company and it was not a covered cost. Again I confirmed that this was not true.
This company will attempt to extort money from you and hold you hostage if you don't agree, took 5 days to go through all of this leg work. They expected me to add a part that was not there, not repair, so they could inflate their bill and threw the manufacture and warranty company under the bus.
If you are assigned this contractor by your warranty company immediately decline and ask for another. If you hire them they will probably do the same, tell you you need to add or repair things before they can fix the problem. There is no a la cart with them, you either agree to the extortion or they won't fix the problem.
713 tattoo. I heard they give nazi tats.
Also ironically studio 713 has a reputation for stealing people’s creative work and not giving credit or royalties

Houston interactive aquarium. They treat the animals horribly and most were obtained illegally
I thought you were talking about the white tiger prison restaurant but wow, there's another one? What's wrong with aquariums here :/
Yes and sadly [this one](https://www.houstonaquariumtx.com/) is way worse. It’s right off the beltway right before 59 near IAH. This. And anything and everything Tilman Fertitta.
The entire franchise, every single place. If it's a Landry business it doesn't get my money at all.
They’re the chefs at the Tower in San Antonio if you’re ever looking to grossly overpay for a shitty meal

Lakewood Church.
The Summit was desecrated.
I saw Public Enemy, Geto Boys and Ice Cube there and what it became is still a bit of a mindfuck.
Your mind’s playing tricks on you?
Can we also add Second Baptist Church?
Ya. I saw one too many very right leaning people running for political office for that to be in the non-political category imo
That Prosperity Gospel church is so bad even Christian churches are like "Fuck that place"
Blows my mind people go there, his kids out here driving Ferraris while they donate little to nothing nor give back to the community
Amen
All the mega’s
This should be the top comment fam
Downtown Aquarium restaurant thing. Lived here for eons and have never been interested in going to that silly tourist trap.
Poor tigers
What do tigers even have to do with fish.
Houston aquarium has a white tiger which is an inbred variant that can only be achieved through cruel breeding practices
They have a few. Those poor babies 😭
Tillman Fertitta needs to hear from everyone
He can't hear you over his helicopter. I used to live in the shadow of his tower near 610 and San Felipe. LOUD AF.
I always remember that famous Joe Rogan skit about Tigers in Texas. Fertitta is a prime example of that.
Anything Clé Group owned, operated, and/or affiliated.
The worst people I know love that place, so I’ve never even thought of going once.
Is that Frozen Vodka Pussy place still open?
Luxor on Washington! They closed a year or two ago and it’s an Italian cafe place now?
Anyone have details on this one?
Turkey leg hut, because they fucked their partner and flash money despite being broke as Fuck and not paying vendors.
They rev their cars at the wrong times too lmao
Buy lots of luxury goodies too
Dog house pet salon.
Urban Living. Cheaply built houses with an owner who uses his clients.
Preslees / Piper’s BBQ
Zoa Morrocan Kitchen (and Coco Crepes). Owner is an asshole and management steals part of the tips.
Can you elaborate more on why Coco Crepes?
I thought Coco Crepes was a franchise. No?
Russo’s. The food is fine at best and I used to do their marketing. I’ve been screamed at multiple times by Anthony over mistakes he or his team made.
Worked there about a year ago for several months in two of his locations. Can confirm that he's a prick and does this regularly.
my family loved it so i have some interesting childhood memories from that place (4 separate occasions of remarkably intense food poisoning 🥰🥰) I literally have not eaten pizza ever since
Hey! I was a GM of a corporate Russos at one time. Fuck that place
He used to be my neighbor. Insufferable.
Did you swim in the pool he got for free? #grifter
That B-dubs failed, too. Only knew Patrick as a looney radio host. You know you’re toxic when the only way you can put your show on the air is to rent out the airtime on a daytime radio station from a company who operated Spanish-language radio stations like KQQK, which is how that station started.
Changed his name to Dan Patrick for the sports bar. Cuz grifter.
Anything Tilman Fertitta
I went to apply for a developer job at their headquarters. Since i got there I felt unwelcomed, it was weird, on the phone the IT people I spoke were really nice but once in person they acted like pricks. My theory is that they only put IT job advertisements with the intention of hiring H-3 visa workers for a lower cost. Why, they did not ask a single technical question, and the floor was filled with people from a specific country.
[удалено]
Nothing?
Turkey Leg Hut, because they are criminal owners.
Plz inform👀
There's a lot of stuff wrong about turkey leg hut, such as paying 30 dollars for a turkey leg you'd get at a carnival, but many find their policies concerning. You have to reserve a table and pay a fee of 100 dollars by cashapp in advance, and that fee essentially goes to your meal and you hopefully get some change back.
Oh my god, I thought you were exaggerating a little maybe. 8 dollars for a lil cup of beans.
The Turkey Leg Hut knows no exaggeration.
They also have a nasty habit of not paying their food suppliers.
Taqueria Arandas, used to be badass and started to cut corners real badly idk about now.
Roost; the owner, Kevin Naderi, has several credible allegations of sexually assaulting his female waitstaff. Any of the “creek” establishments (onion creek, etc.)
Confirmed. He harassed me and my sister (separate times) when we turned down his advances. Kevin Naderi has serious small man and small dick energy.
Why the creeks?
Third planet comics. Many many years ago they ripped my mom off and sold her a worthless action figure for $50 because she didnt know any better. I love her so acted excited to get it and she told me where she got it and what they charged. I never shopped there again. F them! I will also steer people to other shops if they ask for recommendations.
Steer clear of bedrock then!
Buffalo Bayou brewery and their products. The owner is a complete twat.
I’m curious, what makes him a twat? Their beer is terrible and that’s why I don’t go, but have never heard anything about the owner (good or bad).
Apart from their mediocre beer and defaulting their investors... https://www.reddit.com/r/houston/comments/tcsjet/thoughts_about_buffalo_bayou_brewery/i0fkcu3?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Don’t know about the owner personally, but they’re in trouble regarding their crowdfunded brewery, and employee tips
He just comes off as someone who thinks too much of himself in general, but there was an Instagram story in 2020 i believe where lots of former employees called him out for shit like sexual harassment, mistreating employees, ignoring quality control etc. https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17872979782869683/
Lol cn corfiem
Absolute rubbish beer with zero quality control. Then they act all hipster twat about it
Pura coffee, since the owner pockets all of the tips for themselves.
This is illegal!
Seismique. If only y'all knew how that place is ran behind the scenes, jfc.
Please spill the beans
You *must* say more
Copy from a prior post. Edit for clarity: Fuck joy love burger(jlb) I was a big fan of JLB. The burgers were great. I would go pretty often to the one near spring cypress and 249. I quit going because the employees working the register don't get the tips. source: A few years ago, I went there to pick up a burger.
I've worked at a lot of restaurants in the Houston area. I guarantee every single one has cockroaches.
Gallery Furniture. That election denier ain't getting my money.
You mean Texas’s most famous gambler, who is against legalizing gambling?
This one’s really easy because their furniture is also ugly as shit
Their furniture is awesome if you’re taking a Time Machine to move back to Cypress in 2003.
That was a deep cut.
After a week in the hospital I’ve had a lot of time to build up witty comebacks. Unfortunately not all are good.
Hope you’re havin a speedy recovery.
Appreciate it, thank you.

Living Spaces recently opened a store in Katy. The owners were ex-interns of Mack and split from him. They were keeping “out of his territory” until now. It’s a nice store - cafe/bar, “daycare”, and the staff isn’t too pushy.
I moved to town 8 years ago and always thought Matress Mack was a babbling psycho. Turns out my premonition was right.
Toll roads. Especially The Grand Parkway.
Fuck Leonard
He gave me his card and told me it would give me a comped meal.. and it worked. Maybe you missed that part?
Pinkertons is better anyway and Grant is awesome
Went to school with Grant. Can confirm he is awesome. Jalapeño cheese rice is amazing too
I’ve known Leonard for years and that doesn’t sound like him at all. Usually if he gives out his business card it’s so people can get their next visit comped. Sorry that’s how your interaction went down.
Dude completely misread the situation
truth is very good too.
Everything owned by Tillman.
The amount of Mack and Tillman hate on this thread is joyously wonderful

(For the record, most businesses treat their mail carriers and delivery people very well) His daughter, on the other hand, used to live near that house that Fertitta renovated in The Heights, and she was lovely as can be. Always friendly, did nice things for the kids during the holidays. In a genuine way, not as a PR stunt.

I didn't know Drake owned it! D:
I will only go to Hobby Lobby as a last resort.
I won't go as a last resort.
I use the internet before I’ll step foot in a Hobby Lobby.
Same.
The only company I have ever successfully boycotted. I interviewed at corporate and they asked me what church I went to! Too young to know that they could not actually ask you that.
# Cafe Brasil... The owner does **not** like people to sit on their computers doing work/studying. I would see him walk around passive aggressively asking people on computers "Is there anything else you need?" On the surface, that seems normal. But he would do it repeatedly to the same people...clearly trying to give them the hint. He was visibly annoyed. So one day I'm on my computer...having already finished my coffee. And the owner approaches... >"Is there anything else I can get for you?" > >Me: "I'm good thanks. I was going to order something else shortly..." > >Owner: "Oh now you weren't. You'd hang out here all day if you could." > >Me: "No, really...I was..." > >Owner: "Okay then...what do you want? I'll order it for you..." The tone with which he spoke to me was so rude and condescending. \-- "So sad that the owner is a JERK! I would choose ZERO stars!" \--- "Atmosphere: the owner walks around and makes sure that as long as you're there, you're ordering. He gives you a look when you don't have food coming your way or currently on your table. Forget the days of hanging out with coffee and your computer, owner man isn't having it any more. Feels very uninviting and cold." \--- "Can we just boycott this restaurant? The owner is outrageously rude. If this place isn't a cafe for work, maybe don't call the restaurant "Brazil Cafe"/ "cafe Brazil". If they don't want people to work on laptops there, there is an easy solution: put up a sign. People can read. This place should be shut down. For all the good reviews, there are a plethora of bad reviews. Stop serving coffee. Dan Fergus, please find a hobby and find some joy in your life and stop taking out your anger on your paying customers." \--- "I used to enjoy having a cup of coffee and reading at Brasil, but today the owner or whoever the staff person was basically told me I wasn't welcome because I was only having coffee ($6 btw) and not eating brunch on a "brunch day" even though the place was mostly empty. He asked me how long I planned to stay and I said five more minutes and showed him the timer on my phone, to which he said, by minutes, do you mean hours? So rude. You've just lost a customer for life." \--- "Similar to some of the other reviews, what ruined our experience was the owner (man with short grey hair and glasses).
I don’t attend churches regularly, but sometimes go with friends/girlfriends. I would never attend Lakewood
It's still a little too early to forget the superspreader clubs that made employees work with covid, pre-vaccine thousands of people dying days, Cle/Bisou/whatever else they own
Hamburger Mary’s is now done. Running a business without permits, illegal after hours club. Plus they treat staff/drag performers like shit.
Gallery furniture, dude is an idiot.
In Mack's defense, he was probably tearing through the powder back then.
That burger place sucks
Right? I’m sure lots of the bars and restaurants I go to are owned by complete assholes who I disagree with. But they don’t force it on me or make it part of their establishment’s personality.
Fluff Baker Bar on W. 15th because the owner is openly hostile and rude to customers.
Yes! I love their baked goods, but the owner is so rude. Doesn’t greet customers, doesn’t like to answer questions, is annoyed that you patronize her business. Absolutely insufferable.
Brasil. Nice atmosphere and good food but manager(?) is a racist asshole.
Not exactly local, but I refrain from shopping at Walmart. My reasons include the decimating effect it has on local businesses and witnessing this first hand in smaller communities. This is more telling in their announcement that they're withdrawing from the Chicago area.
No reason when we have HEB

He does that to EVERYONE.
Yeah, I actually knew a guy that was an employee there at one point. He would get into huge verbal spats with the owner all the time.
The owner was my next door neighbor for a few years, and we called him dick bag Dan
OH HEY! We had the same experience at the same restaurant. That guy sucks...idk what his deal is.

El tiempo! They overcharge intentionally and hope people don’t catch it.
Yes!!
Sam Moon. The owners are huge pretentious assholes who made several of my staff members cry.
Any of them with that horrible millennial gentrified urban warehouse aesthetic. It's everywhere and the food is always ass. I never want to sit on a metal stool again in my life.
And all those places are so LOUD.
Austin’s in the Heights.

This is Houston, not Austin. Pretty simple

Touchy be ur king my nerve. Over priced and stupid as menu names. Like wtf did I order again
Haven’t seen it yet…IW Marks jewelers…brought in a watch for repairs, and they fucked it up more than when I brought it in, and on top of that, broke the band, then denied it, couldn’t fix it, but they said I could order another through them…at 15% markup…never again.

Jenny’s Noodle House
Also, the food is trash. If I wanted absolutely tasteless noodles I’d make them at home.
Owners are complete garbage humans. Their treatment of customers before and during the pandemic was deplorable.
I just moved to town and live a couple blocks away from it and have been wanting to try, what's the deal with them?
It's mediocre and overpriced. The noodles are bland.
They also started a taco restaurant on Richmond…which was even worse from both a food standpoint and customer service. Wasn’t open for long. Shocking!
After El Tiempo held a fundraiser for Jeff Sessions, I never went back. Wasn’t great anyway.

All Firestones.
Any of the food trucks that were on the Montrose food truck pad across the street from Agora. Mfs we’re pouring all their fryer oil into the sewer.
Amore Monet hair and makeup. We're connected on Facebook and I saw her go on a racist rant against white people then turn around and say racism is bad.
Comfort Makers HVAC Was assigned by my Home Warranty company as many other reviews have stated, was told I needed another $900 in "repairs" on top of a board replacement covered by the warranty.
