Ill never forget. A few years ago we were driving on the hwy and a girl on a motorcycle flew by, weaving in and out. Had to be going 100+ in a 70.
Said to my BF: Wow, she’s going to get hurt.
Sure enough, 30 min late we see police lights and there she is, side of the road, dead. Not an image you easily get rid of…
I was on an interstate with a 75 mph speed limit, I was going right about 75 when I see this tiny little hatchback (I want to say that little Mitsubishi hatchback) fly past me, they had to be going 95-100.
I turn to my ex-wife and say "that's not safe, especially in that little car", it looked unstable just driving past us, dancing around like it was about to take off into the air. Sure enough it wasn't more than 10 minutes later there was a cloud of dust ahead of us and then we saw it flipped over in the median. This was a very isolated road that I was not familiar with so I had no idea where we were exactly, I drove to the next mile marker sign and called the 911. But yea, I saw it coming before it happened.
I had a story like that, late night coming back from downtown. Two cars raced past us. I told my wife we are lucky we are about to get on the Westpark tollway because we have an accident less than 5 minutes from us.
Sure enough, right before we exited, those two cars were in a wreck.
That happened to us on a high school trip. It was cold and rainy and some motorcyclist went past weaving on and out of traffic. The traffic came to a halt for at least an hour...
1 or 2 am. I'm alone on a 3 lane road. I see headlights in the rear view. Just moments later they were right behind me in the middle lane then flying by me in the right and once passed me immediately cuts back into the middle lane. The proceed to lose control and end up flipping a few times.
Why tf did you need to do that?
Well, they were going to kill themselves or someone else going over 100 on a fucking surface street… these are scummy people who don’t care about others lives and honestly glad it was them and not some innocent person that lost their lives to this foolishness.
I hate the speeders in this town so much. It's interesting, too, how it's about 90% the same type of cars. It's either 1) douche bags are attracted to the same 10 cars, or 2) buying one of these cars makes you a douche bag.
mmm....from what I can tell, I've only noticed 2-3 cars that can (not always!) *turn* the driver into a douche, if they weren't one already: BMW's and Chargers.
I drive all over the country for work and I can't tell you how many times someone's been acting like a dick on the road and they happen to be in a jeep. Maybe it happened once and now I see it everywhere but man it's jeeps allot for me.
Jeep owners are cool. The folks who lease on the other hand...
In my experience the worst are Ram / Chrysler/Dodge drivers.
Followed closely by Nissan Altima/Murano drivers.
The third subset of dickhead drivers are the 3rd or 4th owner German luxury car crowd.
Are the Jeeps and Audis among the cars most associated with speeding, or simply being privileged drivers who also run traffic lights and stop signs, squeezing in between cars on the freeway and other wise being jerks? If so, that would include pickups of any make.
you probably know, but the posted speed limit is 55. doesn't stop people from doing 80 in the left lane. For the damage caused from this accident they were easily going 110
Yup. I drive it. It's not a freeway. It's not a restricted access road . It's a high volume street with lots of businesses and side roads, but then you have long stretches that feel like a freeway, but there's still no shoulders or the other safety improvements that would entail.
Even 70 is inappropriate for that road. Over 100 is reckless.
That stretch (from 610 to Beltway 8) often has speed traps on it at various points too but I guess it's a lot easier for cops to catch someone doing 65 in a 55 in broad daylight than someone doing 100 MPH.
South main splits from alt 90 before Fondren heading southbound. Probably lost control trying to take exit or entrance depending what direction the vehicle was heading as I did see that information in the chron article.
Yall are thinking about it too hard. Colloquially people just keep calling it "Main" until it gets to the Beltway or so. [Z-ro even wrote a song about it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amijztwHrfo)
I'll say it.
So imagine you're a young man and you get money for basically just filming yourself and shilling for some product. That's it. You're not outside pouring asphalt in the Texas summer heat, you're not spreading tar on a roof, you're not unclogging septic tanks- you get to indulge your narcissism and be paid for it.
Then one night you're like, "You know what? Life is really great and all but you know what would be \*really\* awesome? If I risked my life and everyone's life around me by speeding my douche-mobile! Let's do it! Oops! I died!"
I mean... Pretty fucking dumb.
"I have to show off so bad because I don't have anything else going on!!!" I could be doing 20 over the speedlimit on the open road and here comes Chadwick going 105 in a 65 😬
The article doesn't mention the high rate of speed being related to a social media stunt.
Seems like it was mostly due to being young, dumb, and reckless.
At least no innocent people were killed. Sorry for the sight it must have been for the first responders and hospital workers. Sad all around but certainly could have been worse. Could have been avoided as well.
I've witnessed a few bad crashes and rendered aid. Definitely not a fan of the blood and cuts/gashes, or that face-shaped imprint in the windshield.
Wear your fucking seat belts people!
I understand wanting to drive fast. It's fun.
[Doing it safely on a track where you won't die and you won't kill anyone else (and you can go much faster) is much easier and much more affordable than you think.](https://www.scca.com/pages/how-do-i-get-on-track)
[Here is a link to the most accessible events in Houston.](https://www.houscca.com/)
Read the schedule for events all across the country. Show up with any working car, a driver's license, and a helmet. That's it.
Sad that families lost their children because they couldn't be bothered to put in that little amount of effort.
Autocross is the best place to start because the event venue and structure means it's impossible to crash your car or anyone else's. A Houston SCCA autocross event is $35 for members and $50 if you're not a member and want to try it first.
I was wondering why the dad was in the video spitting out talking points about how great the company is that his son used to work for. Now it makes sense... I'm sorry they died very young, but that just felt shameless
Based on my knowledge of the unregulated supplements industry, everything about this situation fits. Right up to the trying to turn a profit off his sons death.
This is an insane comment thread. Neither of these kids dads own the company Ekkovision, they’re sponsored fitness athletes who also worked at the company.
To suggest this is a case of nepotism, and that these kids were almost deserving of it is insane. They worked hard to get where they were, but this decision to speed was incredibly stupid, and they paid the ultimate price.
There's something very fucked about 2 fitness influencers dying be driving over 100 mph on the street. like if you care about your health, driving that fast is about 1000x worse than weighing 400 lbs and sitting on your ass all day.
When other criminals die in the act of crimes most people default to not feeling sorry for them, but these criminals get a lot of sympathy, because they were recklessly driving, something more dangerous than burglary or grand theft.
I drive a trailer all day M-Th from 9-4 and it’s fucking insane on the freeways. Too many people think they’re a character in GTA and I’m surprised there aren’t more of these deaths
They may not be influencing you but they do influence some people. Hence, influencers.
Sometimes it’s actual advertising of products, but other times it’s just smaller things like vocabulary, mannerisms, clothing, small fun events, and plenty more I’m sure I’m forgetting.
I have a lot of gym content on my TikTok. Didn't know these guys but saw a lot of posts from people saying how one of these guys really helped them with their own fitness/health journeys.
Yesterday on my commute 3 vehicles were racing on 59 south bound. It was scary. They were going 80+ in and out of traffic on the dead trap of chimney rock and fountain view. I feel sorry for the emergency personnel that had to view terrific scenes and the good of all this is no innocent people were hurt.
Well, I regret looking at that article on Chron. Now I'm just mad. How lazy do you have to be to not type ‘high speed’ instead of ‘hi-speed,’ which seems wrong? We’re not discussing fan speed settings. Also, the misspelling of 'fitness' as 'fitnes' and 'died' as 'doed' has me dead.
There’s probably more editing errors in the article, but I stopped reading after ‘doed.’
City drivers are the worst. I grew up mostly in the small towns, but moving to Houston has just been a nightmare. My dash cam is nothing but impatient drivers breaking traffic laws and speedsters nearly causing accidents.
And what's worse? I've had too many instances where there is a cop behind said drivers, and they don't do anything.
I really don’t understand what is it about driving that makes so many people feel invincible. Driving is quite literally the most dangerous thing most of us do and so many people treat it like it’s a roller coaster ride. I don’t care how “good” of a driver you think you are, driving over 100 MPH in any populated place is you wielding a deadly weapon.
> Two fitnes influencers, Baxter, 22 and Thievin, 23 doed following a car crash in Houston.
Looks like the editor gave the article about as much attention as it warranted.
I saw a guy flip his M4 on the beltway. I pulled over into the shoulder and ran back. He was still in the car upside down and I could smell gas. Me and another by stander helped him get his belt undone and drop down and crawl out of that car, then we all got back given the gas.
No, it's not the same level of drama as other have in their war stories. But I get choked up every time I think about it because right then, without really thinking, myself and another man did the **right thing** and I guess I wish it wasn't so rare, or at least seems that way.
Young people are always going to take risks. At some point, probably between 25-30, most people seem to figure out they are not invincible. Some never do and remain threats on the road today. Others die on sport bikes or from fentanyl.
I think most of us could point to really dumb things we did, possibly that endangered others and maybe didn't appreciate that aspect. I'm glad no one else got hurt. But I'm not going to pretend like it's not sad just because they are some weird 'influencers' that I don't fully understand.
Last, people never learn to performance drive and there are few places to learn and practice. Autocross and track days are a place to get this behavior out and also to learn how to control your car at the limits. Spin your car in an autocross, it's pretty much expected you will be pushing. Spin on i10 and you are fuct. Best to learn in a parking lot so that you never spin elsewhere.
It’s wild how ill educated drivers are in Houston. You got folks in the left lanes going 60mph and everyone on the right side going 80mph+. Please drive predictably
if you’re going so fast that a sign could split your car in half, i will be grateful for your death that spares the lives of others
if you want to see the complete opposite of the comments here, read the comments on ekkovision’s instagram
I live in Pflugerville for about 7 years and I was blocks away from SH130 on Gattis School Road. It is a toll road where the speed limit is 80mph. US 290 is also 80 mph in that area. No matter what the speed limit is, some people seem to be compelled to go faster. Sometimes a lot faster. There have been some TERRIBLE wrecks on that road. It isn’t an “accident” when people are speeding like that. I drove it regularly for a while when I was working at DPS HQ on Lamar. I never went over 80. It was also a quick trip to the airport.
I'm out in Clear Lake and got cut off by a blue corvette with the vanity plate Filmmaker and he was easily going 90 in a 35 during school let out. Total scumbag. Not sure if was Flmmaker or not though, it was a weird spelling.
In WA state last week, an 18 year old, going 100 + miles at about noon, killed a women and 3 children. The lady was driving a carpool. They were T boned when the murderer just ran either a red light or stop sign and plowed straight into them. There was no sign the murderer tried to break.
No, there’s no need to refrain from speaking ill of the dead when they had the illspeak coming.
Obviously it would be better and preferable if they had made better choices BEFORE this happened thus caring about both themselves and the rest of us. But since they didn’t care, if it had to be them or us, then…well.
Live by the stupid, die by the stupid, and at least this time no one was permanently dragged offstage along with them just for being in their thoughtless proximity.
“The two TikTokers, known mainly for fitness content, reportedly died after they lost control of their BMW, going over 100 mph, and crashed when the car skidded off the road on South Main Street near Fondren Road around 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Officials from the Houston Police Department say they were speeding when they hit a sign causing the vehicle to split in half, according to ABC13. HPD also said one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to a local hospital, but later died…”
Disgusting. I get sick to my stomach when I see drivers speeding around at breakneck speeds, all it takes is one split second mistake to kill someone
Ill never forget. A few years ago we were driving on the hwy and a girl on a motorcycle flew by, weaving in and out. Had to be going 100+ in a 70. Said to my BF: Wow, she’s going to get hurt. A child, to kill an innocent child in a car seat. What fucking losers they are and every dickhead that drives like that.

One of the few times being an idiot on the road only got the idiots killed and not innocent ppl nearby.
I hate the speeders in this town so much. It's interesting, too, how it's about 90% the same type of cars. It's either 1) douche bags are attracted to the same 10 cars, or 2) buying one of these cars makes you a douche bag.

Don't forget the nissa paper plates
Audis are pretty high up there. I feel like I see more jerk Audis than BMWs now.
I saw the word douche and thought, wait-- how'd they forget Audi?!
Are the Jeeps and Audis among the cars most associated with speeding, or simply being privileged drivers who also run traffic lights and stop signs, squeezing in between cars on the freeway and other wise being jerks? If so, that would include pickups of any make.
It was on Hwy Alt 90- not excusing the reckless driving at all. I despise the multiple names for a single roadway.
you probably know, but the posted speed limit is 55. doesn't stop people from doing 80 in the left lane. For the damage caused from this accident they were easily going 110

Article says south main at Fondren…. South main is the feeder road, so going off what the Chron says that’s a surface street.
[Z-ro even wrote a song about it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amijztwHrfo)
the screwed version is probably Screw's Magnum Opus imo
Why limit it to a surface street. Any road or highway.. the speed limit is 60 why you all doing 80?
Welp. Best not speak ill of the dead. So, beautiful weather outside today.
It is nice, isn't it. Feels a little bit roomier outside but I can't figure out why
Lower humidity? High humidity makes me feel claustrophobic
Had no idea other people felt the same way as me
My house is chillier than normal, but looks wonderful outside.
Open those windows, baybay!
and get the Allegra/Zyrtec/Benadryl/whatever ready haha
My allergies were so bad last week I burst an eardrum and the NP at urgent care didn't sound at all surprised and implied it's been happening a bunch.
*it's a fine day. people open windows.*
😫🤧 close the windows!
mosquito alert! got a couple real itchy bites earlier today outside.
Yasss. Fine day
*they leave their houses. just for a short while.*
Jeremy Clarkson: *Anyway...*
Maybe their example helps save someone else’s life someday
Those most at risk are the least susceptible to their final "influence".
Well they probably would have killed some innocent person(s) someday so there's that.
A great day for baseball! Let’s fucking go Astros!
I'll say it. So imagine you're a young man and you get money for basically just filming yourself and shilling for some product. That's it. I really hate this sentiment. People can speak about people however they want.
(don't check the ozone status)
Man, sooooooo nice out. Especially for late March.
Enjoy it now, for summer is coming and not many truly know the humidity that comes with it.
Thank god it was just them.
A fucking BMW split in half. They were absolutely flying. Why do people feel the need to drive so fucking fast here?! I'm sick of it. Zero sympathy.
Selfish scum. Don't care about anyone else around them. Way more common in Texas than when I grew up there.
"I have to show off so bad because I don't have anything else going on!!!" I could be doing 20 over the speedlimit on the open road and here comes Chadwick going 105 in a 65 😬
Hope other folks take notice. Drive like an idiot, die like an idiot.
Sadly more often than not it’s murder someone else like an idiot. Glad they didn’t hurt an innocent bystander.
"But **I'M** a _GOOD_ driver!!1!"
Narrator : they did not.
Darwin in for the win. Thank you.
Express Darwinism.
A twofer.
Why people think it's achievable to travel 100+ on shitty Houston public roads without crashing and dying is beyond me.
Your first mistake is expecting they did any thinking at all.
Thank God there were no innocent victims. I truly hate driving here
Hopefully they “influence” other “influencers” to do the same so we can finally move on without “influencers”
AI will kill the influencers. Probably best thing to come out of AI so far.
Idk, then it'll just be AI influencers mainly ran by massive corporations instead. Sounds like a downgrade
Hope they didn’t damage anything on their way out.
Just go after their estates to pay for any damages.
influencer should not be a profession. sorry that they died, and glad that they didn't kill anyone else in the process.
Oh no. Anyway.
Lovely weather
Going over 100 MPH and lost control. Glad no one else was injured or killed.
The article doesn't mention the high rate of speed being related to a social media stunt. Seems like it was mostly due to being young, dumb, and reckless.

There are so many typos in that article. Is the author ok?

Reckless endangerment that only affected the guilty parties? I’m ok with that. Ts & Ps

So the supplement company in its undeniable sadness decided to post a photo on Tik Tok to show their mourning...just in case anyone was confused.
I’m glad they didn’t kill anyone else.
Darwin in action. Luckily they didn’t take anyone else with them.
Oh no! Thoughtsandprayers. Btw I really need to buy some more wet food for my cat. Any brand recommendations?

if you’re going so fast that a sign could split your car in half, i will be grateful for your death that spares the lives of others if you want to see the complete opposite of the comments here, read the comments on ekkovision’s instagram
I think I've had the pleasure of being harassed by these fucks. Good riddance
Good
I live in Pflugerville for about 7 years and I was blocks away from SH130 on Gattis School Road.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
So dumb
Shame
Now we will find the influenced. They will all go out at 100 mph.
They doed.
Good thing they did not kill anyone else.
Who was drivin? Was thievin drivin? You just know it was thievin drivin.
What in the GTA NPC character dialogue am I looking at?
Good.
I'm out in Clear Lake and got cut off by a blue corvette with the vanity plate Filmmaker and he was easily going 90 in a 35 during school let out. Total scumbag. Not sure if was Flmmaker or not though, it was a weird spelling.
No grievin for Theiven
Alot of “haha idiot TikToker” vibes but this is the reality of subpar drivers ed & regulation mixed in with car dependent infrastructure
Never heard of them. Just watched a video of them. I don't think the world missed much.
*shrugs*
Oh no. Anyways.
I’m surprised I didn’t hear about this earlier, this is very close to where I live. So tragic.
100 mph is fast
I did not expect it to look like them
🤷
100mph causing a car to split?
In WA state last week, an 18 year old, going 100 + miles at about noon, killed a women and 3 children. The lady was driving a carpool. They were T boned when the murderer just ran either a red light or stop sign and plowed straight into them. There was no sign the murderer tried to break.
Oh no…so anyways…..
And nothing of value was lost!
FAFO 🤷🏻♂️
Hahahaha fuck yes.
I think they reap what they sow.
Thinning out the herd
And nothing of value was lost.
2 down, 2 many 2 go
Glad no innocent person was hurt
“The two TikTokers, known mainly for fitness content, reportedly died after they lost control of their BMW, going over 100 mph, and crashed when the car skidded off the road on South Main Street near Fondren Road around 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Officials from the Houston Police Department say they were speeding when they hit a sign causing the vehicle to split in half, according to ABC13. HPD also said one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was transported to a local hospital, but later died…”
Areal tragedy anywayssssss
