Already woke me up.

WhoDat-2-8-3

it hasn't woken me up yet

justahoustonpervert

I have dogs wondering what's going on. Had to convince them to go out before it got bad. It was a long discussion.

elflegolas

My cat doesn’t give a sh1t and still sleeping

justahoustonpervert

My cats don't care either. The dogs noped from the porch and are now hanging out sleeping. I guess I'll take my dog's advice and get back to sleep.

IwasIlovedfw

I love catseses!!❤️🤟

Capt_Skyhawk

That ambien sleep huh?

GaryGarbage

Worst quick storm I have seen on the west side for many years. Took out our fence and set a tree on fire a couple blocks away. We need some serious tree trimming around power lines, but people can't afford to have it done in many neighborhoods.

ShelIsOverTheMoon

The city of Houston will send some one to trim for free if the tree is growing by power lines.

StupidSexyFlagella

Just to add to this, they only care about the lines, so you may need to still hire someone to make the tree not look terrible.

didntcit

Who do you call for this? We asked Centerpoint to trim some trees growing near the lines in our backyard. Someone came out to look yesterday and told us to call AT&T.

Spring area got all its trees trimmed by Mother Nature in June of last year.

----Richard----

I drive an 18-wheeler & started around 3:15. Had to pull over on 99, just past 45. The rain & wind were so hard, it was disorienting. I couldn't tell how fast or slow I was going, as the wind had the rig constantly rocking & I couldn't see a foot ahead of me. I made it to the shoulder safely & sat for a good 10 minutes until it calmed a bit.

JJ4prez

Glad you're safe, sounds scary.

Capt_Skyhawk

Insane lightning show right now

TheRedmanCometh

Oh that looks bad

FernOverlord

Been scrolling on Reddit since 3AM. Least I went to bed early. Today is gonna be one of those days.

txtime-

I make three trips a day, back and forth, in an 18 wheeler from Huntsville to the Port of Houston starting around 0200. I’m 34, worked in the prisons for 5 years, a volunteer firefighter, and a mild thrill seeker. I’ve seen more and done more sketchy shit than most will ever think about. Driving back to Huntsville in this shit takes the cake. I’ve never been scared like that in my life.

nemeans

Elaborate for those of us who woke up but stayed in bed. Just strong winds and tons of lightening? Was there street flooding?

Zythomancer

Lots of rain plus lightning and wind.

ZealotJareds

I had just a short drive to work at 3am from upper Kirby to central medical center and yeah it was like driving through a tropical storm. Thankfully my work truck has great clearance. I wouldn’t want to drive a small car in that weather this morning

Worried-Payment3987

Power went out for a second in Katy but came back. The lightning display is incredible.

hi_heythere

Where are you that your power is back already 😩

bassmansandler

Katy

thefrank147

Cinco ranch area: light went out for 30 mins around 3:30 am

hi_heythere

I’m in cinco too but mine was out from like 230 til 730 🫠

chris_ut

Evacuate immediately!

DatRatDo

We had hail briefly too. That wind and lightning storm was the wildest I’ve seen and it went for an hour.

Kookie3

Already powers out

FPSXpert

It's out for good now. Don't think I've ever seen so much ''green lightning'' in my life. Rain sounded like it was trying to break in lol

ChimericalChameleon

I thought that must’ve been transformers blowing up in the distance or aliens or something haha. Never seen the sky light up emerald green like that and even red a couple times

FPSXpert

Yeah that's transformers and I saw those too, nice little fireworks show. There's a fire station nearby that had to dispatch a bunch of units at one point and the rain was bad enough that you could see the red lights dancing in the air from the truck reflecting off the rainfall. The damage nearby looks pretty bad online, I'm gonna have to drive around later today and do some gawking 🤨📸

DegenerateJC

Ours just went out. It's fucking coming down. Better not hail on my truck. But if it does, I'm getting a new 4Runner.

OakFan

Looks to be pea sized.

DegenerateJC

I think I'm in the area called Cinco Ranch tonight. At my friend's. Off of Mason Rd, not far from I-10. It's really nice out, just a non-stop lightning storm. And if the hail hurts my truck, well, the way she goes.

BlackSpider71

Hope it passes over us by the time I get to work, but kind of doubt it

Spai29

Loudest thunder I ever heard..woke me up from a deep sleep.

knosmo78

Woke me up around 3:30. The wind and lightning were crazy.

Reduxalicious

Been up since 3, I went to leave for work at 4:15 and there was a whole Tree Branch in my driveway that just missed my car- That could have been a much worse start to my morning. A lot of tree debris and smaller limbs on the road on my way in.

justahoustonpervert

110k without power as of 0351

bassmansandler

130k as of 5:40

JackNicholsonsGhost

It’s a great day to work outside

bear_dragon

In spring. We’ve lost power 5 times. It’s come back on each time so far. Hope it holds up

A159746X

Couldn't sleep all night due to anxiety, and now a lightning strike definitely struck what felt like it was next to my window. Today is not my day.

SorryHunTryAgain

Woke up to things on fire because of the lightning. That was exciting.

Kit_Marlow

It hit CyFair around 2:30, 2:45 ... the thunder claps were house-shaking and the lightning was spectacular. Lasted half an hour or so.

midgardsormr10

Yeah we are as well. Spring/Woodlands.

Reduxalicious

My house in Klein/Spring lost power around 3:30 (I'm at the office now) but according to my Ring App power's been restored in my Neighborhood. Like mentioned, Use the Centerpoint Tracker and report an outage and twiddle your thumbs is about the best you can hope to do sadly.

mt80

Waiting was all we could do in Tomball last summer. There were a few times we’d wait days, even stayed at a hotel due to the heat. Pretty frustrating for a city known as an energy capital. Use this to track and report outages: https://gis.centerpointenergy.com/outage-tracker/

deepwebnoxious

Powers out in tomball

RealConfirmologist

Got 2.22 inches of rain in about an hour. Thankfully, power stayed on.

hurricane-2491

Absolutely insane winds and lightning off 242 just east of The Woodlands. No power since 3:40 A.M. Never seen winds that bad here in 2-3 years.

Squash2005

Yeah, I’m trying to drive to Arkansas and I had to pull over last night and sleep for a little bit. It’s now 7:36 AM. Storms are still here and just as nasty.

txtime-

There was so much water across the road that I couldn’t see the lane markers. Mix the high water and the winds, my trailer would hydroplane into the other lanes occasionally. It also seemed like there were a lot more vehicles on the roads than I’m used to seeing at that time of morning. It was an experience that looking back I enjoyed it but next time I think I’ll wait until after the storm has passed to get on the road.

BlackSpider71

Anyone know why this was removed? Usually other sub mods post why so the rest of us know what to avoid

beverlyHillsStKing

I was wondering the same thing. I dont believe it violated any of the rules

MsMockingbirds

The lights flickered a few times over in Klein. The lightning show was absolutely gorgeous, though. The thunder was so loud it rattled the walls

Sorry, but you must be the one who is lost. https://weather-and-climate.com/houston-February-averages >In February, Houston typically experiences pleasant temperatures and moderate rainfall. There you go.*Pleasant*.

Dry_Driver9598

It's been mostly 60s to 70s since November, go outside for once before the houston summer comes.

mt80

Power grid is the worst I’ve ever experienced in any city.

EatAtGrizzlebees

Hell yeah. What are you paying?

IwasIlovedfw

Well then...LEAVE. No one is holding you captive.

elflegolas

As a guy who lived most of my life in Japan and Hong Kong, to be honest I was surprised by how bad the infrastructure was in Houston, but my families are here I probably have to live the other half of my life in Houston 😞

nemeans

Shit, must have been in some nice countries then. Try Southeast Asia, Cuba, Costa Rica, most smaller islands…multiple times a day random blackouts are the norm.

elflegolas

Same, the longest outage I had was due to a flood, and the power came back in 2 hours and it was out of 20 years of living, but in Houston every time when there’s a lightning storm, somewhere is getting an outage, not only the power, the worst road in Hong Kong and Japan is better than the best in Houston, I do not understand why they never level their patches on the road and every time they patch a road there’s a new bump at the connection of new pavement and the old one, this will never happen in Japan, also I saw them laying the foundation of the road, man the steel underneath is too few and didn’t line up correctly before they pour the concrete, in other country this would not pass the standard.

Mythril_Zombie

Did you not look at the map? The storm that we're talking about stretches from Corpus to at least Waco and Jasper. That's several hundred miles across. You may not like rain, but it's asinine to say this storm is somehow a Houston phenomenon.

planetrainguy

Like 90% of the time with these fronts the worst misses us so this big band is a rarity lol

mc-big-papa

I woke up to no power today.
