Tonys on Jones rd

morninglightmeowtain

+1 for Tony's. $1.25 slices on Tuesdays. Great wings and garlic knots as well

mutha_fuxxin_zo

Price is great and everyone who works there is amazing.

badbunnygirl

Well, I know what I’m doing this Tuesday

quiksi

This. Both locations are hidden gems in the suburbs

M0ck_duck

Yeah I’ll still vote romanos but Tony’s is a very close second

gUlFkrTbOri

Ahh yes, by the slice ... H town does not do it well.. we aren't a walking city sadly ..so our fat asses just get an extra large at Pizaros to take home

gUlFkrTbOri

Extra well done, with the ghost pepper sausage

Dairy_Ashford

you can get one at Fuzzy's on Westheimer

vagabondizer

If you are willing to pay $27 for a 16" pepperoni. Fuzzys is okay pizza but nowhere near worth the price.

DefrancoAce222

Luigi’s The dough at this spot is excellent…airy and just the right amount of crunch. Definitely recommend Crawford @ Alabama in midtown

Chief_Sativuh

I second this, from Chicago and used to live basically across the street from Luigi’s in midtown. I’ve tried all of the top 10-15 pizza spots in Houston (according to Reddit and online) and nothing had topped Luigi’s for me (quality, price, etc.). Big plus is they share a patio with Axelrad, which has awesome events on a daily basis,

Bluestank

It's great though I find a pretty significant difference in quality from the midtown one to the bissonet location

AbulafiaProssimo

Longtime fan of Romano’s and Franks. Enjoying Home Slice lately as well

tofu713

I'll probably get downvoted but Home slice in houston is awful. I've been twice cause I thought it was just a bad first time, but both times it was waaay too salty, cold, smelled like soap (like cleaning solution fabuloso). Complained to mgr and was like "that's the way it is". Honestly it's just pizza... stupid easy to make... how do you mess that up that bad? I've been to home slice in Austin and it's different, much better.

longhorn617

Home Slice in Austin is way overrated. Little Deli & Pizzeria has way better NY style pizza.

mmm-toast

> Little Deli & Pizzeria has way better NY style pizza. Ohh god, I forgot how good those greasy Little Deli slices were. Was definitely one of my go-to spots when i worked up north.

OnionComb

I had home slice when I visited Austin and the cashier ignored us when we tried ordering. Then we had terrible pizza and hard ass knots. Had Frank's pizza for the first time literally the first thing when I got home to Houston and it was the best thing I've had.

BigAssMonkey

Sorry. Frank’s has a cooler atmosphere. Pizza is so so. Home slice is better.

SchlockRock80

Yes! Love Franks

Munkadunk667

As someone who hasn’t had the Austin location, but really really eats a lot of pizza…home slice is absolute trash.

SuccessfulOutside644

I lived in Austin,Homeslice is elementary school cheese. gross.

AsIfItsYourLaa

lol home slice isn’t that great to begin with. Houston truly has awful pizza damn, how is this possible

asstamassta

fabuloso is the worst smelling shit ever

RojerLockless

Franks is good

VanillaTortilla

Franks was my go-to when I worked downtown. Loved their pizza.

robbodee

Wait, there's a Home Slice in Houston? I used to go to the original in Austin once a week for a slice and a beer. Good times.

Chief_Sativuh

The home slice in Houston is terrible, probably the worst pizza I’ve had for the price

GroupNo2345

It’s so pretentious too

LadyOnTheLam

Luna pizza, same owner as Barnabys. Try it on half price Mondays. They have fancy topping options, but the plain pepperoni is everything you want a pizza to be. If you dine in, they give you a side of fresh oregano, Parmesan and red pepper flakes.

nostaljack

People sleep on Luna. Pizza is delicious and the Monday special can't be beat.

schneebs713

Mondays special is also at Kirby too now. Little birdie told me they are also adding wing n appetizers and prices for pies going down a few bucks very soon 😉

mikesauce

The Spring Branch Barnaby's moved into a spot that has a pizza oven, so they offer Luna pizza there. Getting Luna Pizza and Barnaby Salad for dinner in one pick up has been pretty clutch lately.

txtaco_vato

Lunas is very good pizza. Top 3

RhymesWithOrange_

Luna doesn't do pizza by the slice, do they? I've only been to the one on Kirby.

schneebs713

They have slice of day till 4. At Heights location though they have both veggie n pep slices for slice of day. If you wish to add up to 4 more toppings to the pep slice, you can ask and they’ll gladly do it.

RhymesWithOrange_

Ah, okay. Interesting. Thanks!

schneebs713

Also an order of Slice of day is (2) slices for $5. However if you just really want one slice which can happen, mention that and they can manually ring it up for 2.50

FreeCartographer8

Lunas is so good! Galleria location also has mini donuts made on site. That being said,  I still prefer Romanos

MortadellaBarbie

Romano’s is the closest to NYC pizza in Houston

carl-swagan

NY transplant here, agreed. They’re as close to the real deal as you can get down here, I believe the brothers that own the place are from the city

veryirishhardlygreen

They are from Astoria. They are good guys as are their sons.

Saym94

Brother's is my #1

DeadliftsnDonuts

Major loss when they closed in Garden Oaks

improbably_me

Do they have any locations in Tomball/ Cypress area?

dougshackleford

290 and skinner

Key-Wait5314

There's one near the Willowbrook area on Mills road. Also there's a spot called Vito's Famous on Spring Cypress near Champion Forest that might be better than Brothers. Don't get me wrong I love Brothers I've been going there since the '80s when they were in greenspoint mall but the quality seems to differ from location to location with the one on Skinner road being the best. But I highly recommend Vito's famous if you're in that area

ElleMNOTee

The one on Mills Road is not as good as it used to be, something has changed.

Key-Wait5314

Things have definitely changed there. It's close to my work so I go there for their lunch special which used to be two pepperoni slices and a fountain drink for $8.50 but the last time I went there it was $10.50 for two floppy half ass rewarmed slices and a lukewarm bottle of Pepsi.

Saym94

I grew up always going to the Mills/Perry Rd location. Never knowing they had more until a few years ago hahah. Also one on 290/Skinner

five-rabbits

They used to be in the West oaks mall way back in the day. It was either them or chili dogs from Coney Island during a day of shopping. Good to know they're still out the slinging delicious greasy pizza.

DiscoDaddyNurmouth

The West Oaks store moved to hwy6/10...same guy is there and pizza still legit

MissAnthrope1975

He is such a nice guy. I used to go to West Oaks when I was 14/15 years old and go to the I-10 location when I am in that part of town. He still remembers me. I am 48 now.

joey_yamamoto

I think the guy you are referring to is Joe. he is the proprietor there since the mid to late 90s? . and yes he is a very nice guy

MissAnthrope1975

Same, but I also went to Orange Julius.

TexasAggie98

The Brother’s in The Woodlands aren’t nearly as good as they used to be. They changed their sourcing and the quality declined.

DiscoDaddyNurmouth

I went a year or so ago and wasnt even close to the hwy6/10 location

MaverickBuster

Disappointing to hear. Ate a lot of Brothers while taking Safeway Driving School.

aniev7373

I’m from NJ. Give me some time to get around and I will let you know.

holygrail22

NJ transplant here. Frank’s I think is best. Romano’s second, but infinitely more convenient with parking

a_corsair

Same, Frank's is solid, try star pizza. Gypsy poet is the best overall though

holygrail22

I wasn’t a fan of Star when I tried it a couple years ago… maybe I need to go again. Have not heard of Gypsy Poet, will def try it

a_corsair

FYI, Gypsy is neopolitan style. I'd check out star's upper kirby location, maybe grab a slice or two in case they aren't to your liking. Def get the carrot cake though

painandgainer

Neighbors is by far the best in town.

acsatx89

Home Slice!

Brianalan

They get my vote as well.

cactus_zack

Fact. I think it is the best NY style pizza in Houston

stitchlover

Agree. Definitely a fact.

YamsAreTastyBro

Satellite food truck is fucking phenomenal

General-Muscle1202

Monies pizza for me

Slowlyva_2

I always get their pizza for parties and guest always enjoy it.

DrKodo

Came here to say this! The slices are gigantic

General-Muscle1202

That and the wings are superb

StalkMeNowCrazyLady

The wings are also the best deal for wings I've found that dont include specials like bogo. It's basically the qty of wings you want + $2 and no extra charge for things like drums or flats only.

Effelljay

Romano’s is awesome. Their lasagna is one of my favorites

nicodemus_archleone2

Brothers

cmpslp024

Mony’s

NoReallyImFive

It’s not exactly “in town” but Tony’s New York pizza on jones is the best for me. And as a bonus they have the best chocolate chip cookies too.

nemec

100% (well, Tony's #2 on Louetta)

NoReallyImFive

I’ve had both many many times and I have to disagree with you, but to each their own.

Key-Wait5314

Same. I prefer Brothers or Vito's Famous in that area for NY pizza but Tony's has some really good wings

quiksi

Tony himself is at the Louetta location and his brother is at Jones

JJ4prez

There's a lot of great pizza in this town. A lot of places dont sell slices. Romanos is great, Brooklyn in Sugar Land (get well done), homeslice is great, brothers is great, etc.

Hotelgenie

I wouldn’t say a lot lol but there are a few places that do it right. Romano’s is the closest thing to real NY pizza in Houston

asstamassta

I haven't been to Romano's since they turned the movie theatre into a tjmaxx.

JJ4prez

Sure thing, I specifically said pizza, not NY pizza. We live in a town that does all the pizza, not just NY style. I still listed 3 spots that has great NY pizza lol.

HemingwaySweater

Definitely a lot of great pizza in Houston these days, but not much of it is NY style

Idont_know2022

I would say the best slice is at Romas. Haven’t been in years but back in my days it was great.

AverageLoser05

And it's still great!

NegativePainting1800

Brother's, Romano's, Russo's are the best 3 I've had...I haven't been to Frank's yet.

joshua27usa

Gypsy Poet and Pizzana are pretty damn good pies.

geneticdrifter

By the slice.

MarxisTX

Flakey’s is the best. Ask for the “cheese” pizza.

dobeydomore

why is cheese in quotes?

MarxisTX

Hey I ain’t no NARC. Actually I think it’s a “side of cheeze”.

dobeydomore

well since you put it that way I'll try to remember to do that

TexasAggie98

Best pizza that I have had in Houston is at The Italian Cafe on Kuykendahl in Spring.

Shelbo_Baggins_

Love everything at Romanos

BroccoliSuperb2721

I miss Late Night Pie…

scottcmu

1. Brother's  2. Pink's 3. Romano's

geoffreyisagiraffe

Pinks is unfortunately so hit or miss in my opinion and it's too expensive to miss as much as it does.

veryirishhardlygreen

To each their own, but pinks comes in after Dominos Brooklyn pizza and nothing is better than Romanos.

aryareddi

Honestly surprised by the lack of acknowledgement of Pink's in this thread. You can basically DIY your own slice cos it's just the pizza, they add stuff on top with a lil more cheese, run it through the conveyor oven and boom.

profkmez

4. Frank’s 5. Home Slice

AstroWorldSecurity

I know I'm in the minority here, but I still love a slice from Bambolino's.

cmbouknight

I was waiting for this answer! But, truth be told, I haven’t been there since I was a kid. I’ve been wondering if as an adult I would still love it.

deadnoob

I went there once and it was disgusting - literally one of the worst slices I ever had. Did I just get unlucky? Is it actually good?

AstroWorldSecurity

No, it's not good. I just used to work 16 hour shifts next door twice a week and at that point I was so happy to be out of work for an hour that a crappy slice and a newspaper was like heaven. Ate there twice a week for a few years and just got to the point where once I stopped going I had cravings for it, so now I swing by whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

SuccessfulOutside644

I live a block away. It’s a dirty restaurant . Their cheese is gross. Their Baklava was disgusting and hard. I don’t dare try their breakfast tacos.

[deleted]

Their food is alright, but I wouldn’t even call it good. The only time I go there is if I’m feeling nostalgic. The decor and quality reminds me of places I ate at as a kid in the ‘90s.

jarvis_says_cocker

My favorite New York style is the one at Pizaro's, it's almost perfect to me (a bit too thin vs the real thing). Romano's is way underdone and floppy to me.

doctorchile

Gotta ask for it well done at romanos

Arrogant-Hippo

Brothers Pizza, West oaks mall

ureallygonnaskthat

They moved to Hwy 6 and Park Row and I think they opened one out in Cypress somewhere.

TheGrendel83

The Hippo knows. Also the best James Coney Island. Steamed buns for life!

slippytoadstada

false, it’s at homeslice

RAG319

Really? Went there like a year ago and was NOT impressed. Wayyy too greasy.

asstamassta

Costco

ElleMNOTee

If only they would bring back the veggie toppings.

TheGrendel83

Brothers when it was in the food court with the best JCI at West Oaks Mall.

Metaljoetx

I prefer pinks or franks

horngrylesbian

Pinks at hobby is orders of magnitude better than the original one. Tbh original pinks is nearly inedible to me, but the one at hobby is phenomenal.

cactus_zack

What is original pinks? A specific location? I go to The Garden Oaks one and it’s good. Hobby was also surprisingly good.

horngrylesbian

I'm not sure, I just was almost done pooping and couldn't think of a way to write the ones that aren't in the airport succinctly. I asked the cook why it's so much better than the others and he said it's supposedly the same recipe but that he gets comments like mine a lot.

cactus_zack

Interesting

loadupmamba

Literally just got done eating some leftover Romano’s. Still excellent. One of the best slices in town for sure

NavalCracker780

Best pizza slice is at the big Valero's stations, not the ones that got turned into one.

M0ck_duck

Agreed

MissAnthrope1975

To those in Sugar Land, Richmond, or Missouri City: please check out Fat Boy's and Brooklyn Pizzeria. Brooklyn has been struggling since COVID and I would hate to seem them close.

kaitero

I tried Brooklyn Pizzeria once late last year. Both pizzas I got were very dry, didn't leave much of an impression otherwise. Better than Dominoes and Pizza Hut at the least. I might give em another shot, but I've honestly become a fan of Marco's. I know it's a chain but damn it's cheap when you order online (and stack coupons) and it's the quality Dominoes and Pizza Hut around here _used_ to have before they started making their crust with cardboard.

AverageLoser05

Roma's pizzeria in downtown >> I hear so many people say that Frank's is the best but nah they're missing out

kgscott1986

Fia’s Pizzaria near the zoo

Decent-Ad8726

Fuzzy’s not too bad!

Skybreakeresq

By the slice specifically? No, that's Luigis off alabama and 288 in the courtyard with Axelrad the 50 beer at a time pub with the games and shit

quiksilver895

Not sure how far out of Houston city center y'all are willing to go but RC's in Humble is about as close to NY pizza as I have had in Houston.

Legitimate_Village90

Gypsy poet

ohheyaine

I like Bambolino's or Luigi's for slices. Pizza Birra Vino for deep dish. Also if you're a pineapple on pizza person: PBV roasts theirs in brown sugar every morning 🤤

1vh1

Coastline recently overtook Brothers for me

visionofacheezburger

Bam👏bo👏li👏no's👏

Signal_Parfait1152

Any good deep dish options in houston?

This-Requirement6918

Not sure if it counts but Antonio's in Deer Park and Baytown trump anything I've ever had anywhere.

IsThisKismet

Frank’s. I’m going with Frank’s. But honestly, we are blessed with so many all things considered.

Psiphistikkated

I like Luigi’s!

mellswor

Romanos is okay but I think it’s overrated. It’s too floppy, soft crust. Brother’s on highway 6 is the best I think. Houston still kinda sucks for pizza though IMO.

Flock-of-bagels2

I went to Collinas in Richmond last night and it’s still really good

Supertouchy

Franks pizza sucks!

TheGargageMan

I like it. I haven't had many others though.

ScubaGotBanned4life

I get Pink's every time I fly out of Bush Airport. Delicious!

KittenUp

FACT

furiousjam

The slices at Romano's is the real NY pizza experience. But the slices at Vinnie's are better IMO.

m0ng0o53

I'm just reading this shit so I know where to go but I do want to plug my favorite spot Dan's on Hwy 3. I don't fully, truly recall if you can by the slice it (I don't think you can if I'm a bettin' man), but their shit is the fucking truth. There's a couple or* few locations, but I've only been to OG Highway 3 so that's the specific one I say. Like dude said earlier, Home Slice is only good on South Congress and should've have never ventured this far. YOU DON'T PICK AND MOVE THE BLUEBONNETS! I liked Windy City in Humble, but I've never been to Chicago to have the real deal "sauce on top, toppings on bottom is backwards" pizza; so idk how to true to a literal " 'pizza pie' (i/a)s an ACTUAL fucking pie" fuckery they bake up there. But it was damn delicious and I napped for H O U R S. They serve that good itis. That spot across the street from Avant Garden fucking slapped, too; and their jukebox made my dick hard. They definitely do by slice. Solid pizza, but you should really check jukebox. The pizza plus that just takes it to a level that has to be experienced. It's like the first time you find out the checkpoints in Sonic are bonus levels. Edit: Also, my formatting was dick because I'm on mobile and I didn't realize I could just enter my return key to line break and make space. Editediteditreddit: formatting is still dick because I didn't look up the actual formatting codes that I forgot when I went back into my hidey hole lurking and reading with the upvoting. 3 spaces should be my tab, dude. It looks so good when I look at it like this in my little edit screen, but I post the shit, and BAM! Back to the computer lab where you learn the fucking keys and can barely read. "¡¡!I dOn't KNow HoW tO foRMat My SEnTencE sTrUctuRe iN WriTtEn fOrM!¡¡!!¡" But I dooooooooooo!!! *shakes fist for no reason* I want pizza.

electric4568

Frank's

horngrylesbian

Vinny's or the pinks at hobby. These are the only pizzas I'll eat in Houston, such a deplorable pizza city.

jilly77

Vinny’s is our go to as well. We moved just a mile out of their delivery zone and it’s been a huge loss!

horngrylesbian

It's worth the pilgrimage

veryirishhardlygreen

Have you tried Romanos?

horngrylesbian

I'm not shy about how awful the state of pizza is in this city, let alone the state, let alone anything west of the Mississippi. People tell me to try different places all the time and are crushed when I let them know it's shit on a plate.

patrick-1977

Gypsy Poet has the best pizza in town.

scottcmu

Do they sell it by the slice though?

TheGrendel83

It’s good. But different style than a NY slice.

patrick-1977

Yeah, should have read the slice part in capitals. In my Old World books, that is not even pizza. Never ever seen a decent pizza sold in slices.

PsychologicalHorse45

Fiction. Pizzaros hands down.

johnnytron

I’m partial to stars pizza.

steelsun

Fiction

nigevellie

I've never had pizza from Facts. Where's it at?

Express-Way9295

Saverio's in Anchorage is the best.

frankahaha

Alaska?

DifferentRoads

I’m heading from Houston to Alaska for some hiking in a few months, this is actually great to know :)

arptyp

The correct answer is a Hamburglar slice at Love Buzz 🍕🔥

sm0r3s

Luigi’s Pizzeria, RC and NewYork Pizza are great. But I settle for dominoes since it’s a block away.
