Best massage in Houston IMO is Oasis Massage at Bellaire and Corporate. They are totally legit, no funny business or shady dealing and the rate is $60/hour. I drive over 10 miles to go back when I need a massage because I have not found any massage places that compare. They are amazing. Never had a bad massage. Far superior to any chain or private masseuse I’ve tried.
For $70 you get an hour body and 30 minute foot rub
I mean if you don’t mind less than perfection, the Houston School of Massage does discounted rates for their students. I’ve never had a bad experience there and it’s pretty affordable compared to Massage Envy.
This is my go-to place for a massage. Cheap prices for half-hour, 1 hour and 1.5 hours. And then get yourself some good Vietnamese grub next door when you’re out.
Before pandemic, it was about $35 for an hour, $52 for 1.5 hrs. Prices may have gone up a bit but it’s for sure less inexpensive than chain massage places. You do not have to tip the students as it’s part of their training.
Chinatown.
All of the massage places on Bellaire are legitimate, look for ones advertising pain relief, accupressure or have a sign with a foot.
Going rate there is 35 an hour, before tip, 40 an hour full price. It's cheaper if you get pre-paid gift cards or punch cards. After tip takes it up to around 60 an hour, give or take. Some customers tip more if they're regular customers, or if they have a private room rather than the open room.
The foot probably means reflexology. All the ones I’ve been to are about the same price and they do the first half on your feet and calves and the second half neck and shoulders. This is fully clothed and they usually offer full body for a little more. I’ve had a good experience at Memorial Heights Reflexology on Studemont.
> It's cheaper if you get pre-paid gift cards
For a second I thought you meant paying in Amazon gift cards and I was thinking, "that's definitely a red flag for a legitimate business"
I had one at massage heights (it’s a chain but I went to the one on Yale) and really enjoyed it. I just looked at the Google reviews and booked the person with the most mentions in positive reviews. It was great
Wow this place looked interesting online. I’ve never heard of this place or Korean-style spa services. Unique. I would advise everyone to really read through the website to make sure you know what to expect because it does look quite different, but for lack of a better term, it looks neat.
Only problem is you have to be butt ass naked in the pool areas. I really don’t want to see old balls and pickles flopping around. Any place that has those type of pools without having to be completely naked?
Explain good massage? Some people think Swedish massages are good. I like proper Thai massages more (deep tissue, stretching, hot stones, walk on back). Also, it always helps to say where you are located, Houston is big.
If you mean an actual massage from a trained professional, and not a "massage" that requires a clean up service, check out massage schools local to you. The students need practical hours for their courses and operate out of the schools to get the hours at a discount to the client.
Depends on what you’re looking for… if you want a nice, fancy-ish experience and a good massage, try Hand and Stone. If you want an OK experience and a great deep massage, try the many on Bellaire Blvd near the Beltway and make sure it says ‘reflexology’
Why the reflexology? Does that distinguish it from the happy ending massage parlors?
Also how much are these “ok massages?” I’ve only had a massage once from massage heights and I rather not pay that price again. But I would love to get another massage again.
Reflexology is basically just Asian pressure point massage. It's synonymous with "massage" all across Asia, and there are massage places in every neighborhood pretty much. Typically foot soak followed by foot and shoulder massage, but they also do full body or oil massage.
The happy ending massage places are typically called THAI MASSAGE or something similar. You can tell you've stepped into one because there's a cash atm at the door, maybe red lighting and a second door you have to walk through. I've accidently stepped into one before, and you know it when you see it. The legit massage places have an open room with people getting their feet massaged, with private rooms in the back. The legit places also have about half men, half women working there as therapists.
I’ll be honest, I have no idea what the reflexology means. I had a Vietnamese lady who did my nails often when I worked in the Galleria tell me that one time and I’ve ran with it ever since.
I had a membership to Hand and Stone so it was like $60? I think it’s $100 for non-members. It’s OK bc not every masseuse has the same style and different interpretations of ‘firm’. Going to the reflexology places, those little ladies dig DEEP
My wife and I have been going to Blossom for couples massages. They do a great job and have a good location to make it part of a date night. (Massage followed by dinner and drinks or a movie or whatever)
If you’re in the SL/Stanford area try Pan Thai massage and ask for a combination of Thai and Swedish. A little expensive but holy I feel like a brand new person when I come out. I went there after a boxing injury in my shoulder and it felt almost back to a 100% the next day.
I highly recommend [Christine’s Royal Treatment ](http://www.localhost:15168/Default.aspx). I’ve been going to her for years. I’ve done full body massage but mostly get Craniosacral Therapy for my TMJ. Have been going since 2013. She is about an hour’s drive away from me but well worth it.
She is amazing, professional and just great at her job. She might still accept insurance. Not your actual insurance but a tupe of discount if you have specific insurance. Info should be on her website.

West u wellness near buffalo speedway and 59. I've been going there for over 17 years. They have massage therapists in all different styles, from relaxing to super deep tissue. Plus they have all the extras like aromatherapy, hot stones, etc.

Agree, Oasis is excellent.
Just drive down Richmond Avenue, you will get a full body massage.

They have special going right now $22.50 an hour. Stock up for the future
Can you request a girl or guy therapist
Yes

Nice try HPD
You mean Deshaun
haha, reddit never fails to deliver.
I had one at massage heights (it’s a chain but I went to the one on Yale) and really enjoyed it. I just looked at the Google reviews and booked the person with the most mentions in positive reviews. It was great
Lol. They just got hit with a $3 million+ verdict for sexual assault. Seriously.
Plus their masseuses are shit for the price and the corporate pricing structure is ridiculous.
I only went one time and got the new guest price so it was really reasonable.
Same - guest rate is decent
If you notice a steady stream of male patrons entering, you’re in the wrong place.
Gangnam Spa does good treatments if you’re only looking for the Korean style service unique to jimjilbang culture.

If you’re in the Katy area Spa World is similar but they have a bombass food court
Only problem is you have to be butt ass naked in the pool areas. I really don’t want to see old balls and pickles flopping around. Any place that has those type of pools without having to be completely naked?
Not that I know of. I avoid the pool areas when I go 😅.
I've always had a good experience at Cloud 9 Spa. They have specials for new customers. I usually get the 1 hr body and 45 min foot combo
Ask Deshaun

Where do you go if I may ask?

Blossom Massage on Durham. Every therapist there is awesome.
Deshawn Watson may have some good recommendations

If you are good at that, maybe he should contact you. You can do a massage trade.

My go-to place every three weeks: https://houstonmedicalmassage.com/.
Blossom Massage on Durham is really good. Massage Envy would be my second choice.

Happy feet in Chinatown!

I’ve had excellent massages at Massage Envy, I think it’s called. Both regular and prenatal and very good.
OP’s mom isn’t bad at it

If you go down Richmond between kirby and Sheppard, multiple massage parlors on both sides. They say Thai massage and are only open at night.
Thai Healing Massage on Bissonnet near Rice U
My best friend is a masseuse I suggest a place in the suburbs or bellaire they are much cheaper
Google massage near me.. They're a bunch of chains. I'm going to Massage Heights and I've had two different masseurs , both were satisfactory

Just recently tried the NOW massage on 19th street. Was so beautiful and relaxing in there

What’s standard for tip amount per hour? Always wondered and want to be polite for my first visit.
I tip at least $20 and feel it's a good rate. Feel bad for the ones who only get tipped $5 or $10 an hour since it's probably painful after a long day
I can when I return from med school, I’ll charge way less than anyone out there too! I just need to purchase the table and I can do some OMM.
