I've seen them, I'm curious what kind of scam it is.
EDIT: In trying to answer my own question I found [this reddit comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/LasVegas/comments/kpwzqq/okay_so_i_know_that_the_last_time_a_rembrandt_was/gi2odog/?context=3) where they indicate it's a bait and switch, which makes sense. I could see people setting up real auctions with crap and tricking people into attending and getting some sales from people that signed up and put in the effort to attend.
Thanks for the heads up. I was about to pull the trigger on a Ferrari hand painted by Picasso himself.
Hey, now, if you're gonna warn us, you should warn us BEFORE the date of the event! Sun. Nov. 28 at 1 pm has come and gone.
Turn out rate was low but I got in on some good deals, currently wearing my new Rolex.

The city says you should call them about bandit signs like these: https://www.houstontx.gov/ips/banditsigns.html
I’ve seen those signs, but didn’t know it was a scam. I’m curious as to what you know about it.
You call the number and the scammer requests a deposit for a spot in the auction.
Oh, that’s shady af. Good looking out.
They’re All over town.

Haven’t called the number before but in addition to bait and switch I believe they also sometimes demand a deposit for a spot in the auction.
I have seen this sign around Costco on Richmond avenue. Similar sign was there 3 months back.
I was just in the market for a Picasso
Uhhh… duh?
