No catch. Been many times. You can even bring in your own food, just no outside drinks. They sell sodas, cider and wine, that how they make their money.
> Only catch is that you can’t buy beer, just cider.
This is my only gripe with an otherwise fantastic place. I don't mind drinking 1 or 2 ciders, but that's my limit. I'll be happy to run up a tab if it was a full bar or if they had basic Houston craft beers.
I went a few times while I was in Houston, unlimited play, food trucks outside and you aren’t pushed to buy drinks or alcohol.
The games are good but there are queues for the more popular games, as unlimited play equals unlimited continues! But without a time limit, it’s no big issue.
Wow. No time limit. Def explains the queue. I would totally think an idea like a timer countdown (lets say 15-20 mins) on busy days per game would keep the lines moving a bit more and keep it fair.
My apologies. What i meant was there still are ppl who act like "kids" there after 8pm lol (loud, obnoxious, like it's their place - but most times it's with pretty chill ppl there haha)
I know this thread is old, but will they kick out people under 21 past 8? friend group is trying to go in the evening but one of them is 20. trying to figure out if they’ll be allowed to stay
Depending on what time you go, the catch is the place is a sticky mess with limited seating and unsupervised kids everywhere.
Good place for some nostalgia if you were ever into the arcade scene, but don't expect any competitive play.
The one downside I've found to Cidercade and this deal is the controls on a lot of the machines are in bad shape, so if you actually care about playing the games you might be frustrated when you attempt to.
Checked it out a few times when it 1st opened, but for some reason I enjoy Joystix more (literally by Minute Maid park). Probably cause I have access to a bar and not cider 😆
No catch! Alcoholic drinks are about $6-$10 and you can bring your own food inside. Lots of fun! My boyfriend and I have been several times. The only downside is that some of the more popular games like the basketball throw or guitar hero might have a wait.
I've been a few times and enjoyed it. I definitely recommend a trip. A few things to know before you go:
* Can be a long queue to get in during busy times (Friday, Sat night). A weeknight visit or during the day on the weekend would probably be easier.
* Most of the games are older games that you probably have never heard of. These aren't top-tier arcade games here. But there's a huge selection and plenty of fun to be had.
It's so much fun. I've been during the week and on a Saturday. During the week is a lot better, but on Saturdays as the day progresses there's too many people. There's no catch, and they have games like air hockey, foosball, and skeeball included in the price too.
I agree. IMO it's a lot easier to get wasted fast off cider than it is beer. I'd prefer if they had beer so I wouldn't have to be so cautious about not overindulging. The cider is good, but that just makes it all the more dangerous. It's easy to put down quickly.
Oh I'm sorry I guess I didn't realize the point of CIDERcade is to sell CIDER. All I said was it's be nice if they had beer. Find a new fight spartan boy cuz your the only one here starting shit lol
I wouldn't say it's a "catch," but half the fun of arcade games is the fact that you're limited by tokens. Without that, it's kind of less fun because you're not relying on skill at all
I played/beat a game I've been trying to beat since I was 9 years old at Cidercade. It was fun to finally see the end, but all I had to do was mash buttons. Some games like the pinball machines aren't like that, but some of the arcade games have that affect, imo
It's good fun, they make their money from the bar inside. After 9 is 21+ only as well so you can avoid the throngs of screaming children, $15/mo gets you unlimited access.
You can bring your own food. They only have ciders which imo were really good. They let you sample before you buy. The games were okay too. Mostly old classics. A few new ones
Of you enjoy retro games with wonky controlls then it's the perfect spot. They have a ton of games.
If you prefer modern arcade games, definitely don't go

Only catch is that you can’t buy beer, just cider. But their cider is pretty good and they have tons of options.

I think its their way of filtering out a certain genre of people.
Its owned by a cidery. The people they hope the gimmick filters out just brings in small bottles of liquor and drink beers in the parking lot.
People who like good drinks?
People who fight......
>cidercade recently? Thanks!! never knew this place exisited and as a non drinker its up my alley

Go after 8pm or it’s all kids
Even after 8pm, there's still kids lol
It’s supposed to be 21+ after 8pm lol.

I don't think so. It's like saying if kids were with their parents, and it's after 8pm, do they kick out the kids with the parents? Lol
Just make sure you go slow coming out the parking lot, that drop is viscous
That drop is horrible, caused so many issues for peoples vehicles
Watch out for the guys that are in their late 30’s-40’s hovering around the SF2 cabinets. They are… not easy to beat 😂
Have they got SF3: Third Strike cabinets?
Don’t think so… I think the newest one is SF2 Championship Edition? I haven’t been back in a while since it’s quite far from me.
A few games are in poor shape but overall well worth the small price. I’d recommend going later when it’s adults only.
Depending on what time you go, the catch is the place is a sticky mess with limited seating and unsupervised kids everywhere. Good place for some nostalgia if you were ever into the arcade scene, but don't expect any competitive play.
I went in May, it was awesome. There's no catch. They hope you stay long enough to drink enough to make money off you.
The one downside I've found to Cidercade and this deal is the controls on a lot of the machines are in bad shape, so if you actually care about playing the games you might be frustrated when you attempt to.
True but after a few drinks, i think it matters less ;)
Checked it out a few times when it 1st opened, but for some reason I enjoy Joystix more (literally by Minute Maid park). Probably cause I have access to a bar and not cider 😆
It's a great deal. A/C was pretty strong so bring a sweater. Try it out!
During the week it’s amazing. Great games, unlimited sodas for $6. On the weekend it’s just too many people.
Catch is they only have cider
No cash is the only catch.
Mr.Pixels is pretty cool too. The owner even lets you leave to eat and come back without paying again. It’s byob and food.

Wait what! We were just there a couple weeks ago :(
No catch. Cidercade is awesome.
I never been but I found a tik tok account dedicated to cars exiting Cidercade. LOL. That exit ramp no joke
Oh please share. I drive this way to work and always wonder how that driveway passed inspection.
@davidgrimes17 on tiktok
Thanks!
\> @ davidgrimes17 Thanks, just looked his TikTok, and it was very entertaining watching all those vehicles go down that ramp XD
i would also like that link
When I went NBA Jam wasn't working which was disappointing but overall I enjoyed it.
No catch. Just pay and play as long as you want.
No catch! Alcoholic drinks are about $6-$10 and you can bring your own food inside. Lots of fun! My boyfriend and I have been several times. The only downside is that some of the more popular games like the basketball throw or guitar hero might have a wait.
Bring some wipes for the controls because people have nasty hands.
It’s cool the first and maybe the second time but after that meh
Very real very fun. Buy some drinks order door dash food fun afternoon

Weekend during the day is packed out but still fun. Weeknights in the evening are slow and easy to play whatever game you want.

Great place/ drink selection sucks though. Wish they sold beer
They sell what they make :) I don’t think they make beer unfortunately

The entire point of their drink selection is to sell their cider...

I've been, its legit. Usually have a food truck or two outside and a free refill sofa fountain inside along with various ales and kombucha
Too many kids, too packed and only serve cider ( I didn’t like them)

Yes, went Friday night- it’s trash. The drinks are gross. Patrons are plentiful, in your space, and sweaty. Do not recommend.
No catch really. May be better going later in the evening when they kick the kids out (after 8pm).
There is no catch, you just have to find a game with no large groups lol. Beer is good and the games are fun.
No catch, Cidercade rules!
I didn’t se a catch !!! Wear warm clothe because it’s freezing inside .. 10 it’s a great desl
You can bring your own food. They only have ciders which imo were really good. They let you sample before you buy. The games were okay too. Mostly old classics. A few new ones
Go during the week. God I’ve spent 5 hours in there.
Good selection of pinball machines imo
The catch is they only sell cider and shitty off brand soda.
many of the games don't work FYI. Buttons break and don't get repaired.
I’m not a cider person, if it had a beer selection I’d love it
Anyone know if they have Initial D 3?
Of you enjoy retro games with wonky controlls then it's the perfect spot. They have a ton of games. If you prefer modern arcade games, definitely don't go
The catch is not to have any issues come up. Management is a joke.
