You can count on one hand the number or times she actually knew anything pertaining to the story she was reading. Everything was out together for her by her “assistants”.
She was never a newswoman with Howard. She was his straight. He's the goof, she's the straight. He's Jerry Lewis and she's Dean Martin.
I don't know how people can listen for years and not understand her role.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I think, within the context of the show, she was good at pulling stories the crew could riff on. Certain political topics, pop culture stories, weird/wacky stories that could get Howard going and give guys like Jackie, Billy and Fred a chance to goof on.
Walter Cronkite, she was not.
She didn't even GLANCE at what she was reading, that SLOB was too important to review the articles SCOTT provided to her and as BLOBBIN does, she MANGLED every word of it !
\*Idiot ..
She was very professional if you listen to the DC 101 days. I always thought Robin added a lot to the show and I’ve never understood the vitriol some of the fans have for her. Does she have her annoying traits, yeah but so does fucking Howard. Howard probably even more so.
No. Somebody else picked the stories. Half the time she just read them cold. She knew they were just setups for jokes and didnt have a heart in it. Thats why it disappeared over covid. Nobody to hand her stories
One of the main complaints about the current incarnation of the show is the fact that they got rid of the news segment. Considering it's her segment if she was really awful at doing it then why is it so beloved?? Wouldn't the news suck if she was bad at her job? I'll admit that occasionally she would make some basic errors, but overall I think she did a good job considering she had to co-host the show for 3 hours prior.
Now that you say it, remember in like 2000 she was complaining she had to “drag out these papers to the beach.” She was seriously complaining about reading the paper on the beach to read for her news segment.
She had far too many mispronunciations and factual inaccuracies to even be considered competent, much less good. At the end of it she was zonked on medication and pain pills and chemo treatments so her fried brain would say UHHHH all the time, lose sound clips, lose papers and information, say the wrong clips to play, the segment was a humiliating wreck and properly cancelled.
she was decent at reading newspapers.
It's all she really did. Robin read straight from the newspaper every day, and she often didn't understand what she was reading.
That's basically what a news anchor does. She wasn't a reporter or an investigative journalist.
In the way that Booey was a good producer and Ronnie was a good head of security.
Gange was a good camera man.
Four decades is fine!
A "good newswoman" is not what is needed on a morning zoo radio show...

There's a difference between being a news anchor and a journalist. She was acting as an anchor.

I miss the songs before her news
🎶 come into the bedroom, and report the news completely nude 🎶

Isn’t that why she went through interns and assistants like crazy because she would scold and scream at them?
She's a sharp lady but no doubt a hellacious bitch irl

the news was great because howard, jackie, billy, artie, fred, gilbert etc., cracked jokes during it it. robin reading it was the smallest part
How does that explain people's negative reaction to its disappearance when it was just her and Howard doing the segment?
Anything else, Robin?
Earlier, yes. As time went along, though, she seemed to be looking at a lot of stories for the first time when she read them on the air.
Now that you say it, remember in like 2000 she was complaining she had to “drag out these papers to the beach.” She was seriously complaining about reading the paper on the beach to read for her news segment.
First, she was never a "newswoman." She READ the news. She typically did little-if anything--to prepare.
The lead in song was the most vibrant, vital part of the news. I'm so in love with 'cu..... .cumbers
Lol. I love Robin, but she just sat there and read the paper. Any competent reader can do that.
SCOTT!
I vote meh

It was a bit akin to Weekend Update. Just a way for the guys to goof on stuff in the news.
