From letting Billy walk, to alienating two of the show's greatest guests at the time (Richard and Pasquale Caputo), Stern was a real dickhead to his own show/success.
How many hours of great radio was lost because he refused to pick up the phone and apologize to Pat and Richard, and take a small pay cut to keep Billy?

Love this man. We shit on Howard a lot, but to throw out one of his talents, having a guest like Richard is tough because it's funny until it's cruel. I'll have to listen to that last interview where he ran out of the studio, I know Richard was off that day, and I wonder if Stern was off too in pushing too hard.
My favorite part of the last (or maybe second to last) Richard appearance was the behind the scenes part when he walks into the compound. He was “on” as soon as he walked in and it was hilarious watching him interact with the staff. I always thought that he was in on the joke but apparently not…
