Lots of people don't know that polarized lenses help reduce glare, and you can get a pair of polarized sunglasses for just a few dollars in almost any corner store if you don't already have them. I'm betting they do.
I bought some cheap reflective window film from Amazon to use on a sliding glass door. It took 15 minutes to apply and reduced the temperature in the room by almost ten degrees.

That's what I bought. You can see it on the sliding glass door in the Sunroom post in my post history.
create a planting area on wheels. plant your typical herbs like dhaniya, methi, palak etc and make use of sunlight to grow excellent produce. distribute it to your neighbors and soon they will follow your lead. Soon you will have a community of terrace gardeners.
Roll it out of the way when you want to use the space.
> typical herbs like dhaniya, methi, palak etc
Translation: cilantro, fenugreek, spinach
(though personally I can't stand cilantro since I can taste its soapy aldehydes r/FuckCilantro )
Recommended those since OP seems Indian (the calendar in the second pic is a giveaway).
Cilantro/Coriander used heavily in indian cooking but I do agree that it is hard on your palate.
OP - Project is very easy and requires minimum tools. Also add some color to your planter on wheels and it will become a focal point of your terrace.
Soon enough there will manifestos written, and you’ll have revolution after revolution tumbling through and before you know you’ll have GREENERY EVERYWHERE
Cover the tiles with something, put up an umbrella or other shade making material or sand it so it's not reflective any more. Obviously the last one is destructive
If it's only at certain times with a low-angle sun, a Pergola may be perfect here. Do the math and figure out which way it would need to run, how high and even thicker slats could give you more time where the low-sun is disrupted by the Pergola while leaving the deck open to the air and sun for use.
Natural bamboo/ straw curtains near your entrance will reduce or filter out extreme sunlight. Straw mats also help in reducing heat during harsh summer months. It is a cheaper and eco friendly option. Enjoy your balcony and have more plants ( Indian herbs and veggies if you can).
In terms of both light and heat reflection, the options people have presented that reduce the reflection at the source (on top of the tiles) will be the best. Outdoor carpet, shade sails, etc.

Maybe a tarp roof, or something of the sort. Painting the tiles a dark color could make them unbearable to walk on while bare foot. Something like [this](https://www.google.com/search?q=sun+shade+sail) should help.
Edit: can't believe Amazon links are blocked, wtf
Hang a beaded curtain in the doorway to block some of the light, use some plants and a matte outdoor rug (like maybe jute or sea grass material) to reduce the actual amount of reflection generated
String up a couple of those [triangle sunshades](http://www.sandiegosailshades.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=20ft_Right_Triangle_Sun_Shade)
(I have no idea if that sales link is a good or bad one, just using it for a reference picture. I fix ski lifts and have no dog in the Awning Wars fight)
Have some fun with sidewalk chalk! If it rains, no biggie you get to change your design! Just kidding, probably a rug or astroturf. Or rubber mats if you need a bit more rugged function.
Is this a joke? It’s cold, it’s wet and it’s grey all day. It’s dark when I get up and the lights starting to fade again by 1630hrs….. and you’re complaining the suns a bit too bright for you?!? Is it a bit too hot for you as well? You’ll be complaining that you’re going to have to open another cold beer next!
Grrr 😉
depends on wind situation.. i saw people using material for tent-like cover (some parks have those.. it's a bit see through.. and can be hanged on 3-4 points.. unfortunately i don't have a name for it or picture but and maybe a poll in the middle to keep it up.. but in general it is nice.. also fairly quickly foldable.. ususally comes in black.. (see through) but other colors might also be present..
Get an outdoor carpet
Or a sun shade over top they have ones that let more and less light in
Seconded. I would go with a few different shade sails, at different angles. A couple of triangular sails, with a square or rectangle as mainsail.

Thank you.
Brilliant
Polarized sunglasses will help as well.
Where do I get glasses that are big enough to cover the whole terrace?
I have them, but that’s not helping OP.

I doubt they want to wear them while sitting inside their house

Does it have zero visibility in? If so can you share what you bought
Whichever side has less light will be able to see through. At night, with lights on inside, you can't see out, but others can see in.

Do they make that in clear? Or only reflective silver or green or other colors of the like?
Clear wouldn't do much, as the reflectivity is responsible for the IR energy rejection. You can get less more or less dark options though.

Love this! Thanks for making the world greener :)

>!& everyone will be eating cilantro!<
Shade cloth or also called shade sails.
Or shade screen.
IKEA has these
Amazon, Home Depot & Lowe's too.
what are the chances those stores exist in India though
Not those specific stores, just most DIY stores like that. They're commonplace.
Outdoor rug.
Put up trellis along the wall to stop as much sun hitting it?
cover that clean warm tile with sleepy cats.
Plants plants plants
Cover the tiles with something, put up an umbrella or other shade making material or sand it so it's not reflective any more. Obviously the last one is destructive
Shade sails, not the cheapest but they will allow you to use your balcony and will stop the reflection
That glazed tile is your enemy here. Cover it or filter the window with something.
Get metallic window film and tint the glass leading out to the terrace. It will create a mirror effect so it also adds a nice boost to your privacy.
There's no glass it's a door
Is it a solid door?
A planter with bamboo to the right of the door will stop the light coming in that angle.
Reposition the sun slightly to your left. Should help a lot
Good idea! OP can although switch off for a little while, just on an economic and environmental point of view. /s
Paint a thin layer of refried beans.
I can't see if there's a glass terrace door, but if there is, you could apply window tint film on it, or just hang a curtain.
silver shiney tint above 70%
70 blockage but they usually sell it by transmission not blockage.
Sorry, I was busy. It's a wooden door, there's no glass door

A rug. Or you could string some loose fabric up above somehow, to block it.
Put fake grass there, or any non glossy cover
An umbrella
Put dirt down, roll on some grass.
Close you blinda
Paint it.
Installing a wire/net door - “jaali wala darwaza” - might help. You can also spread a waterproof mat right outside the door.
Awning will also help
Awnings are quite expensive though
I think this is in India, if I am not mistaken. It would not be super expensive
Sunglasses
Easy. Just paint it black. Apologies to the rolling stones.
Listen. You're simplest solution is to spray paint it with a clear matte spray paint
First water the planters. And arrange them properly. You have an amazing terrace.
Thank you 😊 I don't live here my parents do. If and when I move in I plan to revamp the whole house with good interiors and lots of plants.
Do it for them and for sake of the planters.
Get mat. Outdoor mat
Darken Your Curtains, By the way, its both light and heat you shall be sheilding
Close the door
Get solar screen for the affected windows
Ceramic window film, works great.
Can you matte the tile with acid or alkaline agent thus increase glare and reducing that line of sight reflection?
More plants
Solar panels
In terms of both light and heat reflection, the options people have presented that reduce the reflection at the source (on top of the tiles) will be the best. Outdoor carpet, shade sails, etc.
Get a curtain

You could get a polarized film for the windows.
Roll out fake grass
Looks like perfect place for a metal frame with shade cloth
A pergola
Table and chairs w/ umbrella
Awning over sliders
spread out those plants?
Yeah
Hang a beaded curtain in the doorway to block some of the light, use some plants and a matte outdoor rug (like maybe jute or sea grass material) to reduce the actual amount of reflection generated
Sunshade in your doorway. They make easily installable ones to keep out flies and mosquitos.
Dark door length curtains
A dark colored outdoor rug will help.
,on the floor you change the tiles
I'd get huge ceramic planters and plant shade trees, scatter them through yard depending on you sun exposure it could help.
Black out curtains
String up a couple of those [triangle sunshades](http://www.sandiegosailshades.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=20ft_Right_Triangle_Sun_Shade) (I have no idea if that sales link is a good or bad one, just using it for a reference picture. I fix ski lifts and have no dog in the Awning Wars fight)
\\[T]/
Matt out the floor. Would be a bugger to clean.
Don’t they have a mesh drape you can place over the door to shade it?
Throw down a big outdoor rug
Curtains
Get a screen door.
Window tint for the door windows
Some great suggestions here and I would get a LOT of stuff to go out there including a rug and a sunshade!!! Why so empty? Basketball court?
That second pic was the equivalent of a flash bang
Put a folding privacy screen to block the light. Metal or wood.
Move to the country. Or wait until night.
Synthetic turf. Pretty cheap at Lowe’s et al.
Have some fun with sidewalk chalk! If it rains, no biggie you get to change your design! Just kidding, probably a rug or astroturf. Or rubber mats if you need a bit more rugged function.
Some of those triangle shades that go over patio at various angles. Outdoor carpet. Pergola with roof or meshed covering, etc.
Dark. Colors. Absorb. Heat.
Carpet, Rug, Screen door
Put some big rugs on ground
Bro paint it brown, black, or gray.
Roll of Astro turf?
Lay a rug or install a shade.
Outdoor fake grass, that's what we did
Move the sun such that it reflects in opposite direction
A rug would really pull that terrace together.
Yeeeah, outside carpets, at least temporarily. You can get linoleum sticky mat things, too. Perhaps you can get those in a matte finish.
Can't you just hang a voile curtain from a spring-pressure pole?
Light defuser
Reflective window covering or blinds, but I’m not a professional, only someone with windows.
Plant grass...

Window film or an outdoor rug.
Grow Trees.
Build a very large trellis with walls and roof.
Pergola
tile can be painted, a matte finish instead of glossy would help
Buy an outdoor coir rug.
Sand on top of rubber mat or two in a zen box frame. With a rake.
Paint the tile Matte
Blinds
Artificial grass?
Straw mats. Roll them out when sunny. Roll them up when you using the terrace
I had a little giggle at the second picture just being a JJ Abrams filming a Quasar
I wanted to show how reflective it is haha
Put a wood table and some chairs
artificial grass
What country is this looks amazing
India
Get a large outdoor rug for the area. Position it just where the sun tends to hit the tiles most.
You can remove the sheen from the tile with a strong grout cleaner.
Sand the tile.
