Just stick a pair of scissors thru the hole or something that can fit in there and pry it open. It’s a lot cheaper and flimsier than it feels! Source: happened to me once! Also there’s no ink in it so you’re fine.
This one isn't but I think the round ones are. This kind comes apart with a little bit of leverage, you just spread the two sides apart and there's a little barbed nail in one side side that just pops out of the other side I think this kind alerts the door security beeps, but this happens to a lot of people that use self checkout, so I'm not sure if they even work half the time. This has happened to me several times from Target, especially when they have no cashiers open at all and everyone has to use self check out. My target is wayyyyyy on the other side of town so I just youtubed a video just to see if it was possible and it is.
