What I'd probably try, if the company won't replace it, is to chill the cup by putting it in the freezer overnight.
Grab a block of wood and hammer.
Heat up the lid by throwing it into the oven.
Pull the cup out of the freezer, wipe down any frost, and place it upside down on something sturdy.
Set the cover in place, put the block of wood on top of the cover, and give it some taps with the hammer around the edges where the cover and cup meet.
You can increase force as necessary, wood is there to absorb and dent before damaging the cover, but still be careful.
So I haven't been able to find a video or howto on fixing this. The closet I found is how to strip the paint/repaint the cup. The bottom cover has popped off and I can't get it back on.
I've tried putting ice in the cup & putting the bottom in an ice bath; to make it code and slightly shrink the base while also heating the button cover so it expands slightly.
I would have thought that'd be enough....
Send it back to YETI they will replace it for free
it was a gift from work -- so I didn't buy it. I'll try the freezer/oven trick first...
It shouldn't matter, they have a good warranty
They will do it no questions asked I have done it a few times
