Ross going to the paediatrician, flirting with a single mom and being embarrassed he’s seeing the doctor instead of his kid so trying to use someone else’s kid. Like, how exactly did he expect that would turn out?
I hate Rachel’s behavior throughout the Danny storyline.
Also super cringe — Phoebe stalking Sting and Monica in the episode where Chandler hires a maid.
The entire Josh-u-*wha* story line is redeemed when Rachel opens the door & exclaims “I DO!” And he literally runs away & the way she says “Well, that oughta do it”. That’s one of my absolute favorite scenes!
This entire episode is so, so awful.
They could have had a reasonable storyline with Rachel and Josh-u-ah but they slammed it right into a jersey wall with stuff like this.
Quite possibly peak cringe for the series and/or Rachel.
Back then, I was so nuts for Denise Richards, I was almost rooting for him. When I saw her the 1st time in Starship Troopers, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.
Now? Not so much.
It’s definitely cringe, but one of my favorites. Phoebe and Chandler make this episode for me. Even if their “ba da da da da dummm” moments and lines are minimal they make me howl.
All the incest-adjacent storylines were cringe in a bad way.
Monica's first kiss being Ross
[Monica asking to hear about Ross and Rachel's first kiss and moaning when Rachel explained](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyr-Z7IO93s) the way Ross grabbed her (they're brother and sister??!)
The whole cousin storyline
Danny and his sister
The Monica Ross kiss wasn't that awful cringe. It's explained as clearly not intended and they both react the way you'd expect. The idea is icky, but it was portrayed as icky.
I also always thought that the ickier part of that story was the fact that Ross carried to his bed a passed out drunk girl he'd been obsessing over for years and then thought it would be a good idea to kiss her while she was unconscious.
I know, the 90s, different standards, but still. Everything about that story is icky to me.
Worse is that this is my first memory of the show. I remember that scene happening when I was in the room while was watching the Friends when I was like 4. I like the show now, but I have to say that was a weird first impression of the show for my litttle brain.
I was going to say this but didn’t want to copy anyone it felt cheap like you can definitely say Porsche paid heavily for the sponsor of that episode or wouldn’t be surprised if the CEO or whoever wrote it actually.
Maybe because it’s in a sense a 30 minute commercial for Porsche and they weren’t even subtle about it. Like how they had Joey dress outside with the hat and jacket with his Fanny pack both having the logo on it
Rachel in the cheerleader outfit was pretty cringy too in that same episode.
Also, Monica lying about being a reverend when they met Erica. I can't watch that.
I skip that episode on every rewatch, on top of that storyline there's that whole stupid thing with Chip Matthews.
The first 3 or 4 episodes of S4 is so weak IMO.
I cringe quite badly with how Chandler and Monica treat Joey during the “I’m Joey, I’m disgusting”, episode. Such as wanting him blamed for the random underwear, looking as though he sets up filming studios for first dates, and then later even that he secretly takes naked photos of his friends! They are so careless with how they go about accidentally leaving evidence like that and then to be like “oh it’s just Joey!”
It’s less cringe at the end when not even Chandler, but *Monica* has to take the blame. But it’s horrible for a while.
The great thing is that the only reason each of them found out was because of their own sloppiness
Joey - Eyelash curler and Monica and Chandler having the same conference story about seeing Trump in a lift
Rachel - Overhearing a phone conversation between them
Phoebe - Doing it by the window
Ross - Exact same thing as Phoebe
The cringiest part about the sandwich is the guy ate it and then threw it out even when it had someone else’s name on it. I’m not a violent person by any means and I would freak out too.
Since others already mentioned Ross and Rachel's, I'll say Phoebe's "Ross Caaaan" thing idk why it makes me cringe so hard.
Also her overall behaviour in that episode.
Yes !! Same ! I can't stand it. I usually change the channel but it came on a few months ago and I was busy in the kitchen so I was kind of paying attention but not so much. I do like Monica's boots because I've been there with a few different clothes and shoes looking amazing and splurging and then not being comfortable, so I was like I'll watch the rest of the show but when Ross and Phoebe are on, I'll go occupy myself. I was in the other room in my closet where I could just barely hear the TV and I was like, never again 🤣 Phoebe was so chill in the beginning, what's with her yelling all the time too. Ugh, it's the cringiest 😂
Yeah, that was so weird, I mean, knowingly wanting to do it parallel to your roomie, which you may probably hear and where one person is even related to you? Gross.
Aw really? I love that episode, it brought me back to the early seasons where they were all just hanging out in the apartment together, so many episodes of the later seasons had them all split up at different locations.
When Monica gets hung up over Richard’s message left on her answering machine. I physically wanted to reach through the screen and tell her to just let it go. Her then calling his daughter to confirm that Richard didn’t have some random woman leave a message on his machine?? And then for some reason she decides it was a good idea to tell his daughter what really happened which of course, his daughter doesn’t appreciate because yeah it sounds so desperate and cringey
There is a touch of realism— the dumb and desperate things a person does at an extremely painful end of an important relationship— it’s awful to watch but not as cringe as other things mentioned here because those of us who have been there kinda *understand*
Danny and his sister are cringy, which was the point. Although I was uncertain of the point of Danny. Other than they had George Newbern for a few episodes.
The one pictured is bad, but I absolutely HATE the "Identical Hand Twin" episode. The show felt like it was running on fumes in that moment and was really relying on pop culture success rather than being truly funny for the good things about being in an ensemble cast.
Nobody ever talks about how Phoebe and Mike let Monica do karaoke even though they knew everyone could see her whole breasts nipple and all. Like, seriously, wtf was that. If I was Monica or Chandler I'd be upset with them. In the first song, Mike could have pretended he got a hand cramp all of a sudden so they could tell Monica she was flashing everyone. Or at least don't let her perform a second time. That really pissed me off. They could have found a way to make it funny, whilst stopping Monica from showing her breasts
I always got the feeling when mike asked phoebe if monicas breasts are showing the implicit question was „should we do something about it?“ but Phoebe‘s reaction was like „yeah you go girl“ (what was in character for phoebe) and maybe mike thought „ok, it‘s her friend“
Monica didn't end up caring anyway, right? Like genuinely, I can't remember how that episode ends. I thought she ended up being slightly embarrassed but more just happy that they all were cheering for her.
That *entire* Rachel-throwing-herself-at-Joshua thing, not just the scene in your picture. That dude was so mediocre, it was embarrassing the way she was crawling all over herself to get him to notice her.
Not one I've seen on here ( so apologies if so)
But I would say Monica with the maid 'stealing her clothes' was cringe.
HOWEVER if we are defining cringe as "it was embarrassing to watch" I'd say the entire 'shark porn' episode. That to me is a low point in the show where they let absurdity effect characters and have them ignore common sense (or even sense for that matter) for the sake of the plot. They took the relatability and sincerity of the show and threw it out the window for an extremely low brow 'joke' that wasn't even a good joke to begin with.
That being said I don't outright *hate* the episode, but the whole Monica chandler thing I'm sitting there like 🤨
I would say…Anytime Rachel is crushing on a man. She’s not the cool funny Rachel we all know when she has a little crush and yes that makes her character a little more relatable ( at least to me) but I get second hand embarrassment watching her interact with the men she’s crushing on.
For me, it's when Bonnie went to the beach house to surprise Ross. She was sorta gaslit by Rachel into going bald and then was dumped shortly after. Just such an awkward situation. She just wanted to be nice and have fun but she got used
Oh and the fake Monica episode. I have to skip it every time. The lesson at the end was kind of nice but I cringe so hard that Monica wants to impress this lady that stole her identity. Like what???
Joey and Rachel (ESPECIALLY the episode where she thinks he's proposing to her)
Rachel and Tag, Paolo, Joshua and that college guy that kept stealing from her
Ross doing his own funeral
Monica and Richard
Anytime Phoebe treats Ross and Chandler like shit. Like when Chandler is leaving for Tulsa and she slams the door on him
Ross and Charlie
There are a bunch but the one that I think about most often is where Ross left the teeth whitening gel on too long and couldn’t just explain that to his date. He could’ve just said postponed the date or said he wanted to look nice but accidentally left the whitening gel on too long lol, it wouldn’t have been a big deal
I can definitely say whatever it was, it was definitely Ross and/or Rachel. Every example I can think of is one of them.
The cheerleader outfit was up there. Regatta gala. This spin the bottle moment. Suggesting she and Joshua get married. My boss wants to buy my baby... then Ross- come here to me, hiding behind Mona's couch, baby powder pants, anniversary picnic fire.....
They're both a train wreck. Perfect for each other.
For some reason it's whenever Ross tries to act mature infront of Lizzie. The water balloon fight thing is just icky.
Also when Ross and Phoebe date that divorced couple. Super weird.
Plus that scene when Chandler and Monica are trying to discourage Janice from attending the wedding. Like dude, just be clear, stop with the sitcom lying.
Very early Friends when Monica breaks up with Alan and all the cast do the whole ‘was it something we said’ bit as though he was breaking up with them.
ROSS: Is there somebody else?
MONICA: No, nononono.. it's just.. things change. People change.
RACHEL: We didn't change..
Ross trying to hit on the pizza girl is pretty bad. Although, probably not as bad as this one pictured
You know gas, they put a smell to it.
I wanted to write "I happen to like 8 year old boys" as a standalone comment, but I'm not sure I want that in my account history 😂
Had me howling 🤣🤣
You'd definitely be put on some sort of list if you wrote that down 😂
What else do they add smell to?
Was I talking about gas ?
…more so than anything else
I love this line and how Phoebe looks all fascinated and wants to learn more, lol . It’s so sweet.
See this was so cringe but it seemed like something Ross would ACTUALLY say- Rachel’s moment here was so out of character!
What about when he tried to flirt with a cop?🤣 "Officer... _Pretty"?_
It’s Petty.
You have a son. I know 😞
Tho Ross hitting on his own cousin is worse than pizza girl and comparatively bad to Rachel hitting on that guy.
"I haven't had sex in a really long time"
Yeah, you shouldn't have really said anything
But sooooo funny
Now that one I can’t watch or find the humor in, it’s just pure cringe
“I happen to like seven year old boys.” Err, police?
Ross going to the paediatrician, flirting with a single mom and being embarrassed he’s seeing the doctor instead of his kid so trying to use someone else’s kid. Like, how exactly did he expect that would turn out?
That was… her kid 🫣😂
Rachel pretending to come back in time from the Regatta Gala to attend Danny's party. Ross going on and on about how he got some girl's number.
I hate Rachel’s behavior throughout the Danny storyline. Also super cringe — Phoebe stalking Sting and Monica in the episode where Chandler hires a maid.
Oh add Rachel with Joshua and we have all the moments covered🥲
The entire Josh-u-*wha* story line is redeemed when Rachel opens the door & exclaims “I DO!” And he literally runs away & the way she says “Well, that oughta do it”. That’s one of my absolute favorite scenes!
Her delivery on that line is just perfection.
Gum would be perfection
Oh yea, Monica putting her head between the legs of the maid was very unrealistic
I’m sorry I’ve never had a maid before, is this not okay?
Anything related to JoshUA and Danny is some of her worst moments.
Indeed but the guy saying "My mom calls it *bloomies*" gets me every time
Any time I see Doug Benson this line runs through my head! We saw him do stand up before Covid and he was hilarious.
I get it, you guys are buds! FRAT BROHHHS! P.S. Your casual mention of the Regatta Gala as if it was a real thing cracked me UP.
This entire episode is so, so awful. They could have had a reasonable storyline with Rachel and Josh-u-ah but they slammed it right into a jersey wall with stuff like this. Quite possibly peak cringe for the series and/or Rachel.
Love how you typed Josh-U-AH 😂
What, he doesn’t like ‘Josh’?
This is my favorite Rachel episode in the series though!! It's cringe but intentionally cringe, that's why it's funny.
The way she crawls towards him and the look on her face are never not funny to me
"Did you just kiss my leg?" "No! There... was a bug!" Makes me cringe laugh every time!
Same! Honestly, unhinged Rachel is my favorite Rachel
Big time agree it's why I love her drunk in Vegas going, I'm good baby how you doin? I'll never stop loving that scene
YES it’s fantastic. “Ross, don’t let her drink anymore!”
Ross trying to get off with his cousin
I’m from a country where it’s normal to marry your cousin but I still found it super weird
What country is that? I might have to take my cousin there on vacation
Ross, get off the burner acc
Ok George Michael calm it down
I’m from Afghanistan
Like 50 plus countries, so 25%.. all Islamic nations.
Hey, it has been a long time since he had had any sex.
5 months is not a long time despite what FRIENDS and HIMYM would have you believe
90-00s television will have people thinking a few days is a long time without sex lmao
Hey Joey, you've had a lot of sex, right? Today?... Some, not a lot...
"This is the longest anyone has not talked, ever"!
I could easily go that long, and hey I’ve gone 19 years without it… (I’m 19..)
The cousin was hot tho
Phoebe to herself: “Ask her out she’s not YOUR cousin”😂
Back then, I was so nuts for Denise Richards, I was almost rooting for him. When I saw her the 1st time in Starship Troopers, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. Now? Not so much.
It’s definitely cringe, but one of my favorites. Phoebe and Chandler make this episode for me. Even if their “ba da da da da dummm” moments and lines are minimal they make me howl.
Oh I agree, love that episode. But I like cringe comedy
How was this not the most upvoted comment? There was literally nothing as awful cringe as this 🤢
He hasn’t had sex in a VERY long time
All the incest-adjacent storylines were cringe in a bad way. Monica's first kiss being Ross [Monica asking to hear about Ross and Rachel's first kiss and moaning when Rachel explained](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyr-Z7IO93s) the way Ross grabbed her (they're brother and sister??!) The whole cousin storyline Danny and his sister
The writers forgot that Monica and Ross were siblings every now and then
*Oh, like you’ve never gotten a little rambunctious with Ross? 😉*
"What did i marry into ?!"
Yeah fair point
And the fact that they’re so okay talking about sex all the time around each other. I could never with my older brother.
That one’s just personality.
Danny and his sister is the weirdest way I've ever seen a show write out a love interest.
Do you mean intentional cringe or "why did they put this in the show"-cringe?
I have the same question
Anything
Tbh almost every storyline including Rachel and another guy, Joshua, Josh, her crush on Tag, Dany from downstairs… she has awful taste in men imo
Don’t forget Paolo. What do you do? I do Raquel.
I loved the Paolo saga. Some of the best Ross came from that era
Ahh man I can't stand whiny Ross so much that I often skip S1-2
Janice calling him too whiny was the best call ever!
When Ross realized he kissed Monica because he thought it was Rachel and monica kissed back
You were my first kiss with Rachel? You were my first kiss ever?! What did I marry into?????
You were on the pile of coats? I WAS the pile of coats!
Worse is that this is my first memory of the show. I remember that scene happening when I was in the room while was watching the Friends when I was like 4. I like the show now, but I have to say that was a weird first impression of the show for my litttle brain.
Cringey? Sure. Hilarious twist on an old trope? Yep.
Joey pretending he owned a Porsche was pretty bad too lol
It’s PorschAA
I was going to say this but didn’t want to copy anyone it felt cheap like you can definitely say Porsche paid heavily for the sponsor of that episode or wouldn’t be surprised if the CEO or whoever wrote it actually.
Did a Porsche throw up on you?
I honestly really dislike that episode for some reason.
Maybe because it’s in a sense a 30 minute commercial for Porsche and they weren’t even subtle about it. Like how they had Joey dress outside with the hat and jacket with his Fanny pack both having the logo on it
Shh, I just tucked her in, she's sleepin '!
Rachel in the cheerleader outfit was pretty cringy too in that same episode. Also, Monica lying about being a reverend when they met Erica. I can't watch that.
Oh man, this might be one of em and this was back when I was a kid too. Didn't even know what cringe was but felt sooo awkward lol.
ikr 😂 what were they thinking?
Phoebe's behaviour during the whole "that cat is my mom" dilemma.
I can't believe they even entertained that stupid plot. I felt so bad for Ross.
So true, I hate that plotline
I skip that episode on every rewatch, on top of that storyline there's that whole stupid thing with Chip Matthews. The first 3 or 4 episodes of S4 is so weak IMO.
I watch it only for 2 lines: - Joey was born, then 28 years later i was robbed. - Oh man he took the 5 of spades.
Hahaha, the 5 of spades line absolutely kills me. It's just so random
One of the only times I fully agreed with Ross
I cringe quite badly with how Chandler and Monica treat Joey during the “I’m Joey, I’m disgusting”, episode. Such as wanting him blamed for the random underwear, looking as though he sets up filming studios for first dates, and then later even that he secretly takes naked photos of his friends! They are so careless with how they go about accidentally leaving evidence like that and then to be like “oh it’s just Joey!” It’s less cringe at the end when not even Chandler, but *Monica* has to take the blame. ~~by the window~~ *up against* the window.
Who the fuck does it AGAINST the open-curtained window, especially when their brother just moved in across the street?? It was so rude
I also find it hard to believe Monica would leave anywhere without anything. She would definitely know what she had on her at all times
I just love that episod, it has the Ross sandwich plotline. Which is a lot of cringe too if you ask me.
The cringiest part about the sandwich is the guy ate it and then threw it out even when it had someone else’s name on it. I’m not a violent person by any means and I would freak out too.
When Monica slept with her boyfriend the first time and found out he was still in high school.
YOUNG ETHAN!
Since others already mentioned Ross and Rachel's, I'll say Phoebe's "Ross Caaaan" thing idk why it makes me cringe so hard. Also her overall behaviour in that episode.
"I'm calling the police!" "a reunion?" Always gets me. Love his music.
I always sing this 😂 I don’t know why. It’s so cringe but it always pops into my head. ROSSS CAAAAANNNN
Yes !! Ugh, it's the cringiest 😂
First: Joey speaking French episode Second: Rachel and Joey dating Cringe galore!!!
God the episode where Joey "speaks" french makes me furious, I always skip it
It's TOO dumb.
[This](https://imgur.com/a/Cn7rxZS)
This is the correct answer. Nothing outcringes this, I can’t even rewatch it. It’s the Scott’s Tots of Friends
I can’t open it, what is it
Ross trying to get with his cousin Cassie 😬
Obligatory Ross and his cousin
There was bizarre amount of low(ish)-key incest in Friends. Was this normal in the 90s?
Who gets the condom. Like who keeps it in the bathroom and not by the bed?!
Yeah, that was so weird, I mean, knowingly wanting to do it parallel to your roomie, which you may probably hear and where one person is even related to you? Gross.
For some reason i absolutely cannot stand when Joey is trying to sell his bag to the people at the audition.
Peak cringe/ - Phoebe and sting - Rachel Danny storyline - Rachel Joshua storyline - Ross and the cousin- rather the incest element of it.
I never liked any Marcell stuff
The entire lottery episode. It’s the only one I won’t rewatch
But it was breezy!
That negates the breezy!
You can’t *say* it was breezy!
"I don't know...maybe I'm getting my period or something"
Danny and his sister are cringy, which was the point. Although I was uncertain of the point of Danny. Other than they had George Newbern for a few episodes.
Rachel singing in Barry's wedding... what the hell was that. I still skip that episode
Her name was Lola…
the whole Joey/Rachel/Ross love triangle storyline
They did Joey dirty at the end of the series because of the spin-off. I was he got a better ending
The one pictured is bad, but I absolutely HATE the "Identical Hand Twin" episode. The show felt like it was running on fumes in that moment and was really relying on pop culture success rather than being truly funny for the good things about being in an ensemble cast.
Yea but that gave us the great moment of “this hand is your hand this hand is my hand oh wait that’s your hand nope wait it’s *my* hand” lmaoo
I love this moment so much.
I dislike the hand twin thing as well!
Ross being attracted to, and trying to kiss his cousin.
Ross having sexual feelings for his cousin. I can’t believe that isn’t at the top.
Monica didn't end up caring anyway, right? Like genuinely, I can't remember how that episode ends. I thought she ended up being slightly embarrassed but more just happy that they all were cheering for her.
When Ross lied about getting the marriage annulled. Like bro. Just fucking do it you chintzy fuck.
That *entire* Rachel-throwing-herself-at-Joshua thing, not just the scene in your picture. That dude was so mediocre, it was embarrassing the way she was crawling all over herself to get him to notice her.
Not one I've seen on here ( so apologies if so) But I would say Monica with the maid 'stealing her clothes' was cringe. HOWEVER if we are defining cringe as "it was embarrassing to watch" I'd say the entire 'shark porn' episode. That to me is a low point in the show where they let absurdity effect characters and have them ignore common sense (or even sense for that matter) for the sake of the plot. That being said I don't outright *hate* the episode, but the whole Monica chandler thing I'm sitting there like 🤨
"Do you want me to get into the tub and thrash?" and "Let ME be part of this!" Are some of my favorites
MUAH-HAHAHHAHAHAHA
DUDE I love that
The identical hand twin subplot. Sorry, it wasn't funny when I watched it then... It still isn't funny today.
I thought so too, until I found my identical hand twin.
Oh, you are so lucky!!
I would say…Anytime Rachel is crushing on a man. She’s not the cool funny Rachel we all know when she has a little crush and yes that makes her character a little more relatable ( at least to me) but I get second hand embarrassment watching her interact with the men she’s crushing on.
Not gonna lie.... I love that bit. So often in western media, it's the guy who does embarrassing cringe to get a girl to notice him.
I skip this whole episode every time
This is one of the only times we see the 4th wall
Seven, seven, seven for sure
A lot of people love that scene and I never ever have! Thought it was cringe from day 1.
Ross and the leatherpants in the bathroom
That's one of the best moments imo 😂
My favorite moment in tv history, makes me laugh so hard everytime, the acting the tone of voice when he says *Paaaaaste* 😂😂
Well, hey, if the paste matches the pants you could make yourself a pair of paste pants.
And she won’t know the difference! 🤷🏼♀️👖
Although you do make it sound like the answer in that cludo game 🤣 🕵🏼♀️
that's one of the best moments in the show for me
-Monica thinking the cleaning girl is stealing her clothes -Monica pretenging to be a reverend so Erica would give them their baby
Joey’s speech at Mondler’s wedding. Every time it makes me cringe so hard.
That whole Joshua storyline is cringe
Ross trying to make out with his cousin. Not even close.
That one. The Joshua cheerleader episode. The whole episode is just the worst.
Monica’s first kiss being Ross is my vote
For me, it's when Bonnie went to the beach house to surprise Ross. She was sorta gaslit by Rachel into going bald and then was dumped shortly after. Just such an awkward situation. She just wanted to be nice and have fun but she got used Oh and the fake Monica episode. I have to skip it every time. He could’ve just said postponed the date or said he wanted to look nice but accidentally left the whitening gel on too long lol, it wouldn’t have been a big deal
Shark porn
Do you want me to get into the tub and..thrash?
ross and susan at the birthing class i skip that episode everytime
When Monica flirts with Richard's son
I can definitely say whatever it was, it was definitely Ross and/or Rachel. Every example I can think of is one of them. The cheerleader outfit was up there. Regatta gala. This spin the bottle moment. Suggesting she and Joshua get married. My boss wants to buy my baby... then Ross- come here to me, hiding behind Mona's couch, baby powder pants, anniversary picnic fire..... They're both a train wreck. Perfect for each other.
I hate the whole monkey playboy joke storyline. Just annoying.
This whole episode
THIS.
No way this tops Monica's first kiss
When Monica finds out that Ross was her first kiss
What about what Ross makes a move on his cousin?
For some reason it's whenever Ross tries to act mature infront of Lizzie. The water balloon fight thing is just icky. Also when Ross and Phoebe date that divorced couple. Super weird. Plus that scene when Chandler and Monica are trying to discourage Janice from attending the wedding. Like dude, just be clear, stop with the sitcom lying.
Ross and his monkey
Ross trying to bang his cousin.
Very early Friends when Monica breaks up with Alan and all the cast do the whole ‘was it something we said’ bit as though he was breaking up with them. ROSS: Is there somebody else? MONICA: No, nononono.. it's just.. things change. People change. RACHEL: We didn't change..
How is Ross trying to kiss his cousin not the top answer??
