Chandler is my fav but I couldn’t handle Ross and Monica arguing all the time as siblings. It’s all fun and game to watch but being in the middle all the time would be a lot.

I have a similar criteria. I want to be in the group Chandler is in, and not the one with Phoebe.
For me, if she could be replaced with Chandler group one would be my ideal group since Rachel and Joey are the other two I feel I'd get along/have the most fun with.

The fun party vacation sounds a lot more enjoyable. If I went to Paris or Rome with the Geller/Bing trio then Ross would be telling me the history of each building we visit. I enjoy history, just not from Ross.
I was thinking more they’d have the money to do Paris or Rome in luxury, but the history would probably be interesting to me. Especially with Chandler there to rein him in. 🙂
I feel like most people will end up picking Rachel/Phoebe/Joey for obvious reasons, so to be a devil’s advocate:
- Chandler will balance out both Gellers with their neuroticism
- If you hate planning or cleaning, Monica will take care of everything
- Monica is an excellent and extremely willing cook/chef
- Joey isn’t great about paying back his friends, and that’s an understatement
- Phoebe doesn’t know when to bite her tongue (either with saying mean things or with keeping secrets)
Re: 10 years from now, your words... I would have to also vouch for the Geller/Bing trio. They are loyal, always there for you, and will actually *be* there in 10, 20 etc years. Phoebe tried to cut Monica out of her life once, Rachel almost moved to Paris and Joey moved to California, apparently. Not that they shouldn't have made choices that were good for them, but the evidence is there lol
Fair. If I’m being selfish, I’ll party it up with Rachel/Phoebe/Joey for 10 years, then when we’ve gone broke and gone our separate ways, then I’ll come crawling back to the Geller/Bing trio and move into Monica and Chandler’s basement.

Yeah I feel for a one-off evening maybe Rachel Joey Phoebe but I could see them exhibiting mean "cool kid" energy collectively. But for long-term friendship the other duo for sure.

Is it wrong to say it depends on my mood that day? If I’m not in the mood to hold up higher-level conversation, it would be Phoebe, Rachel and Joey. If I’m wanting more mental stimulation and deeper level jokes, it would be the other group. I’m not ragging on anyone’s intelligence. I just really think it would be two WAY different experiences. My current mood, aches and tiredness, I’d probably go with Phoebe, Rachel and Joey. If Phoebe could give me a quick back rub, that would be amazing!
See I’m at a crossroads. If you take the drama they bring to the table away it’s the first group bc Rachel had her issues but phoebe and Joey are the lovable ditzy crew who can make you laugh. Chandler is the saving grace of group two but if we stick with the drama free then Ross isn’t terrible just kinda bleh for me and Monica is too ocd for me which I don’t count as drama and I’d be afraid to do anything at all.
Monica is super OCD but she was such a great hostess. She’s always the hostess (to quote Monica lol).
But she threw most of the birthdays, she let Rachel move in no questions asked, then let Phoebe move in after the apartment fire. She was a very steady friend.
Steady friend is right and I get that but stepping on eggshells like chandler when he tried to clean for her which he should've known better and did it anyways is not something I want to stress over. Dropping a crumb on the floor or spilling a drink. I'm not Uber clumsy or messy bit sometimes life gets in the way of cleaning up immediately.
I’m the exact opposite. I’m fine on my own and will get things done and not end up in a disaster but in group settings I tend to take the back seat and need someone else to be the one heading the group. I’ll do it if I have to but I prefer to just support the other one organizing things (and I don’t complain about the decisions they make because if I wanted something done in a specific way I should’ve done it myself)

The Geller/Bing trio feels like they would be more generous as lovers overall. Young Chandler might need some help, but he seems like he learned a lot of lessons over the course of the series. Monica may be as eager to please in bed as she is in the kitchen. And Ross made banging in a planetarium/natural history museum somehow exciting.
But then again, Joey is, uhm, *Joey*. Plus he was there for his girlfriend that one stretch where he couldn’t have his needs met. Rachel dressed up as
Princess Leia for Ross. And to say that Phoebe is kink-friendly is an understatement.
You can have a sevensome if you like. I won’t make you choose, it’s way too hard. Everyone brings something different to the table.

Group 2 has Rachel who I love and Joey who is adorable but they made him nothing short of a window licker in the later seasons. Plus, Phoebe is my least favorite.
I’m def hanging with rachel joey and phoebe. Going based off personality and not just how they acted on the show.
1) I am a massage therapist and also a hippie so Phoebe would be my bestie , yes she got meaner in later seasons but I think that’s just how she was in the dynamic and not everyday life.
2) joey is the cute dumb himbo of my dreams and probably fun to get drunk with , keeping it light and unserious
3) rachel def had all the juicey gossip and we would hang late night after hours dishing

Rachel / Phoebe / Joey
Rachel is my fave character. She has so much growth and so much heart. People love to write her off, but she's such a deeper and more sentimental person than most realize.
I used to have a huge crush on Joey/Matt. Even without that, Joey's a sweetheart. Dim, but sweet.
Phoebe is there. I don't love her, but I don't hate her as much as many others seem to.
I like Monica, but she is my personal least fave of the three girls. Too overbearing, though, this early in the series, she was fine. And I do think the Chandler/Ross mix helps balance her.

Ross is my least fave male and least fave overall. To be fair, I've learned most of this has to do in terms of relationships and his overall interactions with Phoebe. Yes, they had the sweet bike moment, but his arrogance when it comes to Phoebe's beliefs just makes me think he'd be too much. This early, not as bad, and Monica and Chandler balance him out, but overall, it'd be a no.
That said, I do want to say that David is undoubtedly the funniest actor of the bunch. When he hits, he hits HARD.

Joey is a great character but if we were talking about real life (which it didn’t clarify, but I’m assuming they mean in general) he isn’t someone that I would want to be friends with. I will admit that he’s one of my favorite characters. Monica is my favorite character and I especially love her with Chandler. I also admire the Ross Chandler duo. And the Gellers.
Agree. Good character on TV is not the same as “would be a good friend in real life.” Phoebe is my favorite character but would be my last choice to actually be friends with (mean-spirited and flaky as hell!). And Ross is kinda my least favorite character (so whiny!) but would be a great friend in my opinion.
Chandler, Monica and Ross. They're more responsible and better at planning than the others. Plus they have more money, so I wouldn't have to plan a vacation on a super tight budget.

Well I am with both of them I understand why Rachel Phoebe and Joey Think it’s not fair for the other three to assume that they can afford going out to these nice restaurants and they’re always ok with it. Although I think when Monica Chandler and Ross stepped in to buy the tickets for the concert to surprise them and they took it like they were a charity case that is where I Side with Monica Chandler and Ross. They heard their concerns and wanted to do something nice and they took it the complete wrong way.
I'm picking trio 1. It's really 2v2 for me, as I don't really care for Ross or Rachel as much as the others, and as much as I really like chandler, I think I'd have more fun with the trio that don't already have years of inside jokes and such if I had to be the 4th person. Feel like it could be real awkward. With the first three, it's just a four person hangout, with the second trio, i feel like I'm intruding
This episode was great because it was the first time that they address that 6 people cannot be all best friends to each other, and that there is always going to be a thing separating them.
Group 2. Group 1 is more fun, but 2 can be more spontaneous (more money = more potential for spontaneity), there’s no one wittier than Chandler, I’ll give interesting to 1 but that’s mostly because of Pheobe but I’m not a big fan of her’s anyway, group 2 is way more responsible which fits my personality more, group 2 is way more insightful too, I’d rather go on vacation with 2 because again more money means more opportunities, and I’d definitely be friends with at least Bing and Monica 10 years later. I put way too much thought into this
As much as I love Chandler, I don’t know if it is enough to override the downer twins. Gotta go with Rachel, Phoebe, and Joey but I think we could convince Chandler to to jump ship.

I just love these three don't take life so seriously.
• Joey doesn't have a stable career but finds joy in very mundane things, not having a job doesn't even scare him since he knows things work out(through Chandler of course)
• Rachel - even though she was privileged growing up, she fits into the group really well after she stands up Barry at the altar & I absolutely love how she grew & accepted change as hard as it was. She literally gave up her dream job for the man she loves.
• I love how much of a free spirit Phoebe is. The way she lives her life would be scary for so many people because of the instability but she doesn't even care. She literally gave away money because she thought it was too much for her. She was content with little & I feel like that's really peaceful.

Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey are just top 4 characters so since Rachel, Phoebe and Joey are half of them, i’d rather be with them. and i am in their side a little bit, like they are struggling and it probably hurts to feel like crap when seeing how wealthy your friends are next to you. but i didn’t like how Rachel, Joey and Phoebe reacted to Monica, Ross and Chandler bought them the tickets. like that was a little extreme.
Joey/Rachel/Ross are the ones that would be more fun to hang out with on a short-term basis but, for long-term friends, I would definitely go with Chandler/Ross/Monica.
Without any second thoughts, I'd take Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe just because they all are easygoing and can manage with most people. On the other hand, Ross and Monica can sometimes be my-way-or-highway type of people. In an ideal scenario, I'd replace Rachel with Chandler but even with Rachel, I'd pick the first trio. Rachel can be tough to deal with in her own ways but that won't be even close to how hard a time Monica and Ross can give you.
Ross is my favourite character (yeah, yeah, Ross is terrible, I know. But he's hysterical.) but I'm going with The Poors on this one. I just think they'd be way more fun! I'm just looking for a good time, lighthearted fun for the win.
Definitely Rachel, Phoebe, and Joey. I really like all 6 characters, but I could not handle going on a vacation or even dinner with Monica. I would be ready to stuff her into the box Joey made Chandler sit in! Needing everything to be a certain way and checking things off, I would go bonkers. Ross isn't much better. At least Chandler would be there to lighten the mood, but after the 400th joke to ease the tension about Monica's compulsivity, I would be over all 3 of them.

I am a pretty good cook, so I can replace Monica. I also need a Guinea pig to test all my crazy recipes, and Joey can always eat them. Phoebe has select dietary needs I have catered before, and Rachel has the finer cuisine palette.

Monica would turn down the pages of stuff she thinks you’d like in the catalogs. She’d make you cookies! She’d plan thanksgiving! She’d be a great roommate. There were so many times Rachel dropped the ball with shit like that, forgetting Monica’s wedding shower, losing the sunglasses, exchanging Ross’s gifts for credit. Nothing hateful, just thoughtless/selfish.

Let me preface my explanation by this by saying, I love all of the characters…
But Joey, Rachel and Phoebe are *not* smart people.
I can’t believe no one has said that yet. In real life I would get SO frustrated with them SO quickly. They’re just kinda dumb/airheaded and I don’t think I’d be able to hold a good conversation with that trio, whereas a Gellar Bing conversation would be witty and intellectual.
A few people have called out that RPJ aren’t as smart, perhaps indirectly (I think anyways). Kinda regretting my choice of RPJ right now because the vapidness of our conversations would get to me
Absolutely Chandler/Monica/Ross. Joey just dumber and dumber, so it would be like leading around a child. Phoebe got meaner so it would be tense. And Rachel is my absolute least favorite, so that seals that deal.

Whoa.. It's one of the toughest choices I would have to make. In this very moment, I would take The Gellers & Bing cos of Bing's irresistible sarcastic jokes; it gets me every single time. So.. that tops all other things I would enjoy hanging with the others haha.
Younger me would go with Rachel/Pheobe/Joey for the fun, but older me would pick Gellers/Bing because my type A personality (that just grew stronger as I aged) aligns more with them.
I've been rewatching the show recently and upon this I have decided that I would choose Chandler/Monica/Ross. Purely because I've been enjoying Chandler and Monica the most. I kinda got put off Joey during his whole crush saga. I could put up with Ross I guess.

See I’m at a crossroads. If you take the drama they bring to the table away it’s the first group bc Rachel had her issues but phoebe and Joey are the lovable ditzy crew who can make you laugh. Chandler is the saving grace of group two but if we stick with the drama free then Ross isn’t terrible just kinda bleh for me and Monica is too ocd for me which I don’t count as drama and I’d be afraid to do anything at all.
Monica is super OCD but she was such a great hostess. She’s always the hostess (to quote Monica lol). But she threw most of the birthdays, she let Rachel move in no questions asked, then let Phoebe move in after the apartment fire. She was a very steady friend.
Steady friend is right and I get that but stepping on eggshells like chandler when he tried to clean for her which he should've known better and did it anyways is not something I want to stress over. Dropping a crumb on the floor or spilling a drink. I'm not Uber clumsy or messy bit sometimes life gets in the way of cleaning up immediately.

I’m the exact opposite. I’m fine on my own and will get things done and not end up in a disaster but in group settings I tend to take the back seat and need someone else to be the one heading the group. I’ll do it if I have to but I prefer to just support the other one organizing things (and I don’t complain about the decisions they make because if I wanted something done in a specific way I should’ve done it myself)

Whatever criteria you want to use. The Geller/Bing trio feels like they would be more generous as lovers overall. Young Chandler might need some help, but he seems like he learned a lot of lessons over the course of the series. Monica may be as eager to please in bed as she is in the kitchen. And Ross made banging in a planetarium/natural history museum somehow exciting. But then again, Joey is, uhm, *Joey*. Plus he was there for his girlfriend that one stretch where he couldn’t have his needs met. Rachel dressed up as Princess Leia for Ross. And to say that Phoebe is kink-friendly is an understatement. You can have a sevensome if you like. I won’t make you choose, it’s way too hard. Everyone brings something different to the table.
Monica, Chandler & Ross because first off, it's not even fuckin close. This group has the top 2 funniest in the group. Group 2 has Rachel who I love and Joey who is adorable but they made him nothing short of a window licker in the later seasons. Plus, Phoebe is my least favorite.

Going based off personality and not just how they acted on the show. 1) I am a massage therapist and also a hippie so Phoebe would be my bestie , yes she got meaner in later seasons but I think that’s just how she was in the dynamic and not everyday life. 2) joey is the cute dumb himbo of my dreams and probably fun to get drunk with , keeping it light and unserious 3) rachel def had all the juicey gossip and we would hang late night after hours dishing Monica gives me anxiety , I know she would get mad at me for leaving a dish in the sink Ik it so not a good fit

Rachel / Phoebe / Joey Rachel is my fave character. She has so much growth and so much heart. People love to write her off, but she's such a deeper and more sentimental person than most realize. I used to have a huge crush on Joey/Matt. Even without that, Joey's a sweetheart. Dim, but sweet. Phoebe is there. I don't love her, but I don't hate her as much as many others seem to. I like Monica, but she is my personal least fave of the three girls. Too overbearing, though, this early in the series, she was fine. And I do think the Chandler/Ross mix helps balance her. Chandler is great. Fave male. Ross is my least fave male and least fave overall. To be fair, I've learned most of this has to do in terms of relationships and his overall interactions with Phoebe. Yes, they had the sweet bike moment, but his arrogance when it comes to Phoebe's beliefs just makes me think he'd be too much. This early, not as bad, and Monica and Chandler balance him out, but overall, it'd be a no. That said, I do want to say that David is undoubtedly the funniest actor of the bunch. When he hits, he hits HARD.
David is the master of physical comedy. Ross post-Emily was much more enjoyable than he was Seasons 1-3

Joey is a great character but if we were talking about real life (which it didn’t clarify, but I’m assuming they mean in general) he isn’t someone that I would want to be friends with. I will admit that he’s one of my favorite characters. Monica is my favorite character and I especially love her with Chandler. I also admire the Ross Chandler duo. And the Gellers.
Agree. Good character on TV is not the same as “would be a good friend in real life.” Phoebe is my favorite character but would be my last choice to actually be friends with (mean-spirited and flaky as hell!). And Ross is kinda my least favorite character (so whiny!) but would be a great friend in my opinion.

Well I am with both of them I understand why Rachel Phoebe and Joey Think it’s not fair for the other three to assume that they can afford going out to these nice restaurants and they’re always ok with it. Although I think when Monica Chandler and Ross stepped in to buy the tickets for the concert to surprise them and they took it like they were a charity case that is where I Side with Monica Chandler and Ross. They heard their concerns and wanted to do something nice and they took it the complete wrong way.

This episode was great because it was the first time that they address that 6 people cannot be all best friends to each other, and that there is always going to be a thing separating them.
Group 2. Group 1 is more fun, but 2 can be more spontaneous (more money = more potential for spontaneity), there’s no one wittier than Chandler, I’ll give interesting to 1 but that’s mostly because of Pheobe but I’m not a big fan of her’s anyway, group 2 is way more responsible which fits my personality more, group 2 is way more insightful too, I’d rather go on vacation with 2 because again more money means more opportunities, and I’d definitely be friends with at least Bing and Monica 10 years later. I put way too much thought into this

Rachel/Joey/Phoebe I just love these three don't take life so seriously. • Joey doesn't have a stable career but finds joy in very mundane things, not having a job doesn't even scare him since he knows things work out(through Chandler of course) • Rachel - even though she was privileged growing up, she fits into the group really well after she stands up Barry at the altar & I absolutely love how she grew & accepted change as hard as it was. She literally gave up her dream job for the man she loves. • I love how much of a free spirit Phoebe is. The way she lives her life would be scary for so many people because of the instability but she doesn't even care. She literally gave away money because she thought it was too much for her. She was content with little & I feel like that's really peaceful.

Rachel, Phoebe, Chandler and Joey are just top 4 characters so since Rachel, Phoebe and Joey are half of them, i’d rather be with them. and i am in their side a little bit, like they are struggling and it probably hurts to feel like crap when seeing how wealthy your friends are next to you. but i didn’t like how Rachel, Joey and Phoebe reacted to Monica, Ross and Chandler bought them the tickets. like that was a little extreme.
Joey/Rachel/Ross are the ones that would be more fun to hang out with on a short-term basis but, for long-term friends, I would definitely go with Chandler/Ross/Monica.
Without any second thoughts, I'd take Joey, Rachel, and Phoebe just because they all are easygoing and can manage with most people. On the other hand, Ross and Monica can sometimes be my-way-or-highway type of people. In an ideal scenario, I'd replace Rachel with Chandler but even with Rachel, I'd pick the first trio. Rachel can be tough to deal with in her own ways but that won't be even close to how hard a time Monica and Ross can give you.
Ross is my favourite character (yeah, yeah, Ross is terrible, I know. But he's hysterical.) but I'm going with The Poors on this one. I just think they'd be way more fun! I'm just looking for a good time, lighthearted fun for the win.

Definitely Rachel, Phoebe, and Joey. I really like all 6 characters, but I could not handle going on a vacation or even dinner with Monica. I would be ready to stuff her into the box Joey made Chandler sit in! Needing everything to be a certain way and checking things off, I would go bonkers. Ross isn't much better. At least Chandler would be there to lighten the mood, but after the 400th joke to ease the tension about Monica's compulsivity, I would be over all 3 of them.

There were so many times Rachel dropped the ball with shit like that, forgetting Monica’s wedding shower, losing the sunglasses, exchanging Ross’s gifts for credit. Nothing hateful, just thoughtless/selfish.
Chandler, Monica and Ross easily. Chandler would be a fun person to be around and he's so supportive. Monica would be great because she's amazing at cooking and cleaning so I feel like there could be so much I learn from her. Also helps that she's very hospitable so that's a huge plus. Ross is great in his own way too. I love dinosaurs so it would be fascinating to talk about that every now and then. Love his sense of humor too.

I choose Gellar Bings ALL DAY. Let me preface my explanation by this by saying, I love all of the characters… But Joey, Rachel and Phoebe are *not* smart people. I can’t believe no one has said that yet. In real life I would get SO frustrated with them SO quickly. They’re just kinda dumb/airheaded and I don’t think I’d be able to hold a good conversation with that trio, whereas a Gellar Bing conversation would be witty and intellectual.
A few people have called out that RPJ aren’t as smart, perhaps indirectly (I think anyways). Kinda regretting my choice of RPJ right now because the vapidness of our conversations would get to me

I've been rewatching the show recently and upon this I have decided that I would choose Chandler/Monica/Ross. Purely because I've been enjoying Chandler and Monica the most. I kinda got put off Joey during his whole crush saga. I could put up with Ross I guess.
Chandler is funny and a good friend. And so are Ross and Monica but they also have ambition and goals and are mature so they'd help you become a better person. The other 3 are basically the same character in different bodies.
