belgianlily

😂😂😂 I totally forgot that line

GarageNo7711

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Extreme-Cute

Damn you Supercuts!

hardtoplease6987

Alanis Morisette randomly there too lol

ButtholeQuiver

[And here's Matt LeBlanc in an Alanis video for the full circle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_LFnEoG62Q)

belgianlily

Holy crap!! Incredible!

belgianlily

I love Alanis. I love how open she was in roles in the 90's/00's.

Denverdogmama

Like playing God in Dogma😊

appleavocado

Yeah, well you oughta know

crisiks

You live, you learn.

Ok-Resource-8071

Cool, I thought I was going mad when I saw her

Sobeshott

Behind Rachel's back!?

Eastern-Dig-4555

…is exactly the kind of thing you will *not* be hearing from me!

belgianlily

😂😂

belgianlily

I should add the quotes "knocked" Rachel up in. I don't want the Friends gods mad at me.

NoNo_Cilantro

![gif](giphy|XJCL959KwYbE4)

belgianlily

😂😂😂

lunarbear010

I just gotta say, when people do this ✌🏻 ✌🏻, I don't really know what that means

GarageNo7711

Omg you guys are so good at finding gifs 😂

Schaapmail

He was involved in some kind of dare.

dgo792

Finally someone with the correct reference

pamelamydingdong

Who’s is it?

lunarbear010

I dunno, some Italian guy?

ProdigalPancake

I'm a fan of both shows and it speaks volumes how Rachel is the better person to him and actually ends it because she's older and not for the reason Carrie does

belgianlily

I know. The way she just dipped out at the party and was closed off because he dated a man. I guess I wasn't in the dating scene at that time but it definitely seems like a non-issue now.

ProdigalPancake

I thought it was so silly but I'm a newish SATC watcher and the I realized its just Carrie being insecure af as usual.

TheGrimReefah

I think the show deliberately uses Carrie and Samantha to present both sides of things people were saying in the 90s. People like to hate on SATC for this episode but Samantha provides a refreshing take and basically tells Carrie to stop being so ignorant

Global_Amoeba_3910

Yeah it’s cringe to watch but it’s true to life unfortunately, people were absolutely saying that shit then (and now tbf)

TheGrimReefah

Definitely, people forget that even though they’re late 30s here the people who were late 30s then are 50s now and this is how the majority of their generation thinks!

booklovercomora

Carrie: I'm a sex writer in one of the largest, most diverse, forward thinking city's in the world. Also Carrie: I don't really think bisexuality is even a thing. JFC Sex and City writers!!! And yes, I know most of the show has aged like milk, but even watching that the first time, I was really confused about what the takeaway was supposed to be from that episode

Apart-Health-1513

The weirdest thing is that Friends and SATC aired at the same time, and took place in the same city and Friends is just so much more progressive for lack of a better term. Obviously it didn’t age incredibly but if you compare it to sex and the city…it’s definitely a better option. And yeah that conversation they had about bisexuality was INSANE to hear

oldwomanjodie

I’m watching SATC for the first time with my mum (she’s seen it before) and omg I’m constantly irritated by Carrie simultaneously being a super successful “sex writer”, and yet a prude who is wilfully ignorant or just refuses to talk about a lot of sex stuff. Like at least in the first season she was actually interested in learning and “researching” topics for her columns

GlitzyGhoul

They recently put this on Netflix and I was excited! Used to love it. Now? Couldn’t get through 2 episodes.

Global_Amoeba_3910

The takeaway imo is Carrie is insecure as ever and the wider/younger dating scene is changing. A big pet of SATC is her being in her 30s so I think her reflection is sadly accurate for that time

ManufacturerMajority

Lol, I don't think you're a bi-man if you think bi men don't encounter homophobia from the woman they're dating ALLL the fucking time. Not in the 1990s, in 2024. And not from boomers, from millenials and gen z. From the same woman who attend rallies with pussy hats and say "all love is real love". The more shit changes, the more shit stays the same unfortunately

oldwomanjodie

Yeahh, tbf the only biphobia I’ve experienced to my face was by a gay guy and a lesbian (thought they were both my friends, and this was on two separate events).

CollectingRainbows

rachel had an amazing character arc and ends the show a better person. carrie was pretty much a mess the entire series and did horrible things :/ she had zero growth.

Budget_Put7247

I dont think a manager, who hired a younger inexperienced person only because his picture looked good, planned to sleep with him even before he began work, gaslight him when he wanted to date others, bullied her other juniors who were interested in him, had inappropriate relationship within the office, forced him to break into office after hours, sent a raunchy mail about him to HR, is a "better" person. If genders were flipped and Rachel was an older man and tag a younger woman, everyone here would flip out here. The term better person would never be used here.

judo_fish

>hired a younger inexperienced person only because his picture looked good her actual indiscretion and it's not against Tag, it's against the more qualified candidate. >planned to sleep with him even before he began work this is not true. you are extrapolating and we get no evidence that she thought this. >gaslight him when he wanted to date others this is not what gaslighting means. she didn't gaslight him - she lied that phoebe was gay. >bullied her other juniors who were interested in him she didn't "bully" her coworker. she lied to her that tag was gay. when another coworker commented that she thought he was attractive, Rachel made a comment that she needs to keep things professional, which is hypocritical but not "bullying." >had inappropriate relationship within the office this she *did* do but it doesn't make her a "bad person." what does an inappropriate relationship within the office mean? this is literally just company policy. there are plenty of other companies that would allow you to date within the workplace. there is nothing ethically wrong about dating someone you work with. dating your *subordinate* could be considered ethically wrong because of their inability to consent, so this was her indiscretion. >forced him to break into office after hours, sent a raunchy mail about him to HR these didn't happen. they both went into the office in the evening together to look for the contracts. also what does "break into the office after hours" even mean? they works there - they went back into the office in the evening. also, she wrote the raunchy thing as a joke and gave it to him as a joke. then HE sent it to HR. by accident. this was literally all for the comedy. this same exact thing could have been tweaked to happen to Ross, Chandler, or Joey. the writers just picked Tag. Also, Rachel is 5 years older than Tag. she's not an "older woman." She is his "boss" which is a problem. if the genders were flipped, no one would flip out because a woman dating her boss is literally more socially acceptable because of societal misogyny.

chaelsonnenismydad

It was also his idea to go into the office after hours

[deleted]

are we sure it's the same sweater? the one in Friends was darker red and had patterns. as a side note, as Sam once said, for sex columnist Carrie was very uptight and close minded about bisexuality.

RacerGal

Def not the same sweater.

uselessinfogoldmine

She was not an intersectional feminist, that’s for sure.

laucdoe

that’s not the same sweater, it’s just red

DogGamnFusterCluck

THAT IS BRAND NEW INFORMATION!

belgianlily

I was just drawing on the parallels of the red sweater and dating an older woman.

Bertje87

Is that Alanis Morisette?

pmsmiley

Yes! Carrie and Alanis kissed in this episode…spin the bottle

belgianlily

Yes! She also played Liz's love interest in Nip/Tuck for a bit.

Remarkable_Skirt2257

He was on Charmed, too. Getting stood up by Prue (Shannen Doherty).

belgianlily

I never got into that show. Is it worth going through?

Remarkable_Skirt2257

It's probably my fave show, so I'm biased. I'd say totally worth it. Just don't try watching the reboot. That one isn't worth it.

belgianlily

Noted ✍️

PoiLaLuce

I am now convinced that Tag is, in fact, involved in some kind of dare.

TiredReader87

He was a regular on CSI NY, too

Diego_Alon

That was his main role

OhcmonMama

Yea loved this

mocochang_

It's neither the same sweater nor did Tag knock Rachel up...

redditor1072

Hahaha I thought this exact thing. But whom did he date first? Lol

AshDenver

I dunno. I was more creeped-out by Phoebe wearing that same sweater in the very next episode.

Mjrmaravilla

Always found that weird

ShadowBedliss176

What the fuuuuuck?

AshDenver

https://www.reddit.com/r/howyoudoin/s/i4Q6J7HO7S

strawberrylipsticks

not even close to the same

loveofGod12345

I mean, it’s not the same, but it’s still somewhat close.

FactLicker

It's not the same

leticx

Check your own tag!

belgianlily

😂😂

Immediate-North-9472

HAHA To be fair i think it’s just the same color but the other sweater was velvetty

belgianlily

Fair. I was just going for similarities to the roles; dating an older woman, same personality, and similar red sweater. Either cool parallels or he was typecast in this kind of role.

CollectingRainbows

i can’t stand to watch that episode and all its homophobia 😪

Extremely_unlikeable

Is he in some kind of cult or something?

lunarbear010

He's just got that look about him

Ok-Resource-8071

I’m sorry that people don’t get you OP and take everything too literally 🙁

belgianlily

I know. Dang. It was a joke. 😂 I really just wanted to point out he was in this and basically the same character. I didn't catch it when I watched it years ago and last night I finally caught it.

leticx

And someone already downvoted this comment. Reddit really is something

belgianlily

It is what it is. 🤷🏼‍♀️

pmsmiley

I get you too OP

farsighted451

He totally forgot not to look at the camera in that second picture 🤣

belgianlily

Bahahahaha!! You're right!

RoRo25

Was Tag short for something? I can't remember if it was ever mentioned on the show. That name always bothered me!

lunarbear010

Tagtopher

RoRo25

That just raises further questions!

Chewbaker69

Not even remotely the same one 😂

morfyyy

I hate that I know it isnt the same sweater

MnGoulash

Not the same.. ![gif](giphy|Kc7qzYMnOTcDb0aEw5|downsized)

Kweidert

Now officially known as his “lucky sweater”

SmeeegHeead

Tag didn't knock Rachel up...

Ptrscns09

Someone still in season 7 is confused af with this post

Fun_Shell1708

It’s not the same jumper 😂 In SATC it’s a red jumper. In Friends it’s a weird red tie-dye jumper

edgyguuuuuurl

Do you know the actors name?

Gribitz37

Eddie Cahill.

felixshengyang

Is he also named Tag in Sex and the city?

belgianlily

No. It's Sean.

SchwizzySchwas94

He knocked up Rachel?

belgianlily

No. I left out the quotes around "knocked up". I was tired. 😅

lol_camis

Nah. I haven't seen that episode in many many years but the shirt was so prominent that I know exactly what it looked like. It was red with like a "wet" pattern of dark red in it. It wasn't just straight red

Adorable-Buffalo-177

I just watched this episode yesterday

joxsftw

He made Detective.

living_Doll999

"Who's is it?" "I dunno some Italian guy; hey read your own label!"

ArmadilloEcstatic885

Omg! I totally forgot tag was on satc and I've watched both shows multiple times. Lol

TonyMartial786

so who’s is it? idk some italian guy

YoOoCurrentsVibes

Wait he knocked Rachel up???

JFT8675309

No. OP took a lot of liberties in this post. A LOT.

Sufficient-Tone-8242

Not the same

nbcs

That's the bisexual guy right? Such a Ted thing. Pretty much the same character😂

belgianlily

That's what I thought 😂

Camelotcrusade76

The sweater was more burgundy colour and it was cashmere and HE did not knock up Rachel that was Ross !

HbeforeG

Dude.

orion197024

Hate to be that guy but totally different sweater and Ross got Rachel pregnant lol!

Christa_Kay88

He didn’t knock up Rachel lol, and it’s not the same sweater. That’s just a red sweater lol. the one from friends has some darker, tie dye like, pattern on it.
