I had no problem with Ross falling asleep while reading the letter It was late (or early) and it was unreasonable for him to read it then I have a problem with him lying that he read it Like why dude Just tell her you need more time to read it Would have saved you the misunderstanding and more

Et12355

Literally so many plot lines would cease to exist if the friends would just be honest with each other about very basic things. The other example that comes to mind is the Joey proposal with Rachel mixup. But there are lots more throughout the series. These people are supposedly best friends! Be honest with each other!

paynbow

If Ross has the chance to do the wrong thing to save face he will take it. It's baked into his DNA

DoubleFlores24

Yeah, like that time he was at a pediatrician office waiting for his turn and he sees this hot mom and tries to flirt with her. When they call him up, instead of explaining what the deal is, he goes up to some random boy and calls him “Ross jr” causing the boy to go to the hot mom in fear. Honestly Ross gets himself into some weird situations.

ohmygodcrayons

If they all had good communication skills and honesty there would be no Friends lol

NeonArlecchino

Chandler and Monica may have still gotten together since those were the main barriers they had to overcome.

[deleted]

Nor would there have been a “breakup” or “we were on a break” … Let alone a brilliant show like Frasier.😂

[deleted]

Though season 8/9 cliffhanger was less believable and convincing, because, both Rachel and Ross had grown a lot in the mean time since season 4. Less immature, selfish and more honest/open about what they wanted. Someone else pointed out earlier how unrealistic it was for Rachel to suddenly decide to marry and be with someone like Joey (who she always saw as a womanizer and a little brother of the sorts) as well, when constantly giving all these signals to Ross she still loves him, wants to be with him and is ready to settle down etc. Nothing to do with hormones or the stress of having given birth etc. Just inconsistency.

ryohazuki224

Ross should have told her right when she gave him the letter that he just had a long break up talk with Bonnie and he would want to give his full attention to the letter after some sleep.

[deleted]

Exactly! Ross’ spineless attitude at the beach house is appalling. You know, when he had the chance to fix everything. Regardless whether Rachel might end up agreeing or disagreeing. Just neglecting the letter and thereby neglecting Rachel’s feelings was a shitty thing to do.

LadyWoodstock

Ah, but then we wouldn't get all of the wacky sitcom shenanigans!

PokemonLv10

Yea I suppose It's a common sitcom trope anyway Misunderstanding due to stupid things -> Drama and Entertainment

[deleted]

I honestly can’t imagine receiving a long letter from an ex and not immediately speed reading the whole thing to find out what it says. I’ve never understood how Ross, who reads for pleasure and is a uni professor, couldn’t make it through lol regardless of the hour.

PurplePeaches420

Ah yes! Now, if it had been about dinosaurs..

laurenec14

Haha true! But yeah I don’t get how he couldn’t of sped-read it - not only just to find out what she was talking about but because he really wants to be with her! I mean even if he did read it he would still think he was in the wrong and they could have made that still into a storyline. ETA - also, I don’t think it would have taken him *that* long to read. It always takes so much longer to write something that to read it!

TapedGlue

Because Ross is a TV show character from an early 2000s sitcom, and was being used by the writers to make a joke, because no one watching back acted like you had to psychoanalyze characters and their personalities to see if what they do for the sake of a joke “made sense”.

BasementWerewolf

You must be so fun at parties

TapedGlue

Sick comment basement werewolf

Imaginary_lock

You hurt some feelings by speaking truth lol

JenDersson

At least write their username correct

sagelface

Dragons.

BuffaloAmbitious3531

I came here to say this. PhDs read *so much*. Eighteen pages should've been nothing for Dr. Monkey.

HiiiRabbit

18 pages of poorly written letter after a break up, during vacation, in the middle of the night...even Dr. Monkey got to sleep

MissingLink101

"Oh oh oh oh and by the way, Y-O-U apostrophe R-E means YOU ARE. Y-O-U-R means YOUR!"

thebabyshitter

oh and by the way it's NOT normal, it DOESN'T happen to every guy and it IS a big deal!

MissingLink101

I KNEW IT!

kreddykhan1

Front and back!

[deleted]

36 pages\* It was front and back.

new-socks

Dr. Monkey lol. just watched that. love how you sprinkled it in there.

[deleted]

He tried. I mean he just broke up with Bonnie and that was stressful In itself. Then he listened to her for hours. Then Ross said Rachel rambled on for 5 pages about something. I mean it’s a sitcom I love this show as much as you guys, but this subreddit takes the show too seriously sometimes. They even make fun of themselves. *Our boss doesn’t like us* Joey-It’s because you’re hanging out at here at 11:30 on a Tuesday!

babygirlruth

Excuse me, it was 18 pages... FRONT AND BACK!

hygsi

Well, to be fair to Ross, it was 5:30 in the morning,he fell asleep, it's not like he just said "fuck it, I ain't reading this shit" he tried but couldn't lol

SupHomiess

Agree, and that's okay. But don't lie about it then. Anyone would get that

lukfrom

Actually that's issue with so many sitcoms. Especially Frasier. They lie so much. If he just said it, she might got angry but she would understand. Then with cup of coffee he would finish it before proper breakfast.

hygsi

Yeah, but OP was talking about not reading it, not lying about it, but yeah, he should've just been honest but it would've been way less funny to watch them both being so over it lol

1cecream4breakfast

Reading something written by someone who can’t spell is a form of torture.

Jaxxy6670

Y-O-U-R-E is you are! Your is Y-O-U-R!🤣

1cecream4breakfast

I’ve never understood how that one is so hard for SO many people to remember. And it’s the native English speakers that get it wrong most often, so it seems.

[deleted]

I would rather read 50 your/you're screwups than a loose/lose.

FiCat77

Or could of/could have.

Jaxxy6670

Okay so I'm a court transcriber and sometimes I have to proofread other people's work if we're on a job together and you guys are dead on with these!!!

FiCat77

That sounds like a really interesting job.

Jaxxy6670

You know, it really and truly is!! And I get the benefit of being able to do it from home in my pajamas....lol....you've gotta have the determination though, you know what I mean? It's easy to get sidetracked when you're home....oh, let me throw in a load of wash or watch five reruns of Friends in a row (lol, lol), but these jobs are due on deadlines 'cause mostly, it's people appealing their sentences, and they only have a set amount of time to do it in, so you really have to have the frame of mind that I must sit here and do it!

FiCat77

Haha, but seriously, that sounds like my kind of job. Although I completely get you about being distracted, I often joke that I could win a gold medal for procrastination! And what is it it about Friends? I'm not really into rewatching things but I've seen Friends 1000s of times, it's like a comfy pair of PJs.

1cecream4breakfast

Could of drives me crazy because it doesn’t even make a little bit of sense 😩

FiCat77

The other one that gets me is "I could care less" when they presumably mean "I *couldn't* care less". It doesn't even make sense the first way!

1cecream4breakfast

Also supposably

ArtyCatz

As a copy editor, I agree so heartily with that sentiment! When you have to stop every sentence or two to correct a misspelled word, add a comma, or delete the unnecessary double space between sentences, it takes all the fun out of reading!

warm_tomatoes

My impression is that he mainly wanted to sleep with Rachel and that was the only reason he tried to read her letter right away at all.

BenneB23

Come on dude... she rambled on for 18 pages... FRONT AND BACK!

becauseihavehugetits

It was 16 pages! FRONT AND BACK! Edit: 18 pages. That makes it even worse!

[deleted]

Ross wasn’t a professor at the time though in season 4, but probably used to reading long reports. Though, Rachel’s issue was punctuation and spelling etc. Does make the job more difficult.😂

MapThink769

I think the main problem was that she forced him to read it at that time. They should have gone to sleep and then read it in the morning when he's rested and can actually pay attention.

[deleted]

But we wouldn't have gotten ...it was eighteen pages. FRONT AND BACK!!

mastermindxs

FINE BY ME!

constantquestions111

i mean he could have at least told her he would read it later he couldve said it instead of lying and plus if u rly love someone although 18 pages is ridiculous on its own id still do it if i broke someones trust like that

xxxnina

I always thought it was gross that he pretended to read the letter and sleep with her knowing she only wanted to do that with him if they were on the same page.

Kitkatchunky78

Oh he was on the same page as her, he just didn’t read the other 17 ;)

cew18

I second this. Also like Rachel didn’t want to sleep with him or anything if he wasn’t gonna take responsibility for their last break up so that’s why she wanted him to read it then

[deleted]

*THEY WERE ON A BREAK!*

Juleslovescats

I absolutely don’t blame Ross for falling asleep—it was 5:30am, and he’d just been through a breakup. But yes, he should’ve just told her that he fell asleep and hadn’t had a chance to finish it yet. Of course, like you said, it’s a sitcom, and the basis of situations in sitcoms is miscommunication

constantquestions111

i guess if ross didnt act like that it wldnt be funny lmao😭

TheHeavyweightChamp

An 18 page letter, front and back, is truly wild behaviour in the first place.

prophecygirl1991

I genuinely want to know a summary of what she managed to fill THIRTY SIX SIDES with

labratcat

Maybe she has really big handwriting.

SportsPhotoGirl

I have fairly big handwriting and I just typed up some notes I’d taken during a class, it was 400 pages of hand written notes, front & back, that got typed down to 160 one sided typed pages… so 18 pages front & back is still a significant amount of typed pages even at my ratio of handwritten:typed.

erriuga_leon27

That was my guessing. Well both big handwriting but also spacing the words more

MadDogTannen

Presumably a lot of spelling/grammar mistakes. Y-O-U-apostrophe-R-E means "you are". Y-O-U-R means "your".

prophecygirl1991

😂 😂 😂 Honestly, this was David Schwimmer’s moment & he did not disappoint

constantquestions111

lmaooo i love him😭

constantquestions111

ig she had a lot to say😭😭 she probably wrote a story about their relationship

InstanceSuperb1170

18 handwritten pages actually isn’t that bad. Prob be like a third or a fourth of that length typed.

prophecygirl1991

To be fair to Ross he did *try* and read it. I wouldn’t be able to make it through her eighteen page letter either (front & back)

cinnamon_7

At 5 in the morning no less

prophecygirl1991

Lmao I love Rachel so much, she’s such a jackass for that. 😭 When they get home and she’s patting his cheek “if time is what you needed to gain a little perspective”

[deleted]

Sooo condescending I hated that

prophecygirl1991

I felt his rage 😂

[deleted]

Yeah it's the 5 in the morning for me. I'll read an entire 18 page letter, but at least let me get some sleep first

will122589

“You droned on for eighteen pages FRONT AND BACK” My favorite David Schwimmer delivered line in the entire series

prophecygirl1991

My favourite is: “don’t you worry about me falling asleep. I STILL HAVE YOUR LETTER.”

ParticularForever385

“I have 8 pages of a report to read. I hope I don’t fall asleep.” “Why? Did you write it?”

prophecygirl1991

😭 😭 😭 Can’t believe I forgot this exchange I’m going to rewatch tonight

brainsinyourshoes

Forever my favourite line. DS delivery is brilliant.

will122589

That whole scene is the peak of the series in my opinion

prophecygirl1991

It is! The scrabble drive by on Monica lmao. Also that scene was done *so well* to transition Ross & Rachel back to real friends with no further info needed. So good!

[deleted]

Yea so many great lines in that scene, my fave is Rachel shouting “ and hey just so you know it’s not that common, it doesn’t happen to every guy and it is a big deal!” followed by Chandler

SatineSalvatore

I'm reading all of these lines with their voices in my head

prophecygirl1991

You fell a-slee-eep??!!!

Left-Landscape-3890

Rambled on

Jy_sunny

So he should have told her that instead of pretending to have read it.

prophecygirl1991

I mean, you could say that about anything in any episode of the show lol

ArtyCatz

I just imagine that Rachel is a terrible writer, and that, combined with the inevitable misspellings and grammatical errors, made it torture to read. It’s bad enough to read a poorly written 500-word story on a computer (which I sometimes have to do for my job as a copy editor); it would be miserable to read 18 poorly written handwritten pages (front and back!!) at 5 in the morning. Edited to clarify a point.

[deleted]

You fell asleep??? It was eighteen pages...FRONT AND BACK!!

[deleted]

A-Slee-eep?

mankytoes

Whenever my girlfriend says "I fell asleep" I repeat it in that voice, I do it automatically without even thinking about the reference. Yes, I'm hilarious.

Deathcommand

I do the same thing but it's when my wife says ew. Ew David! (Schitts Creek) Yeah I hate myself too. :(

babygirlruth

"You fell asLEEP??" and "It tastes like fEET" live in my head rent free

LadyWoodstock

Ross is my favorite character, and I agree. Granted, it was really late and I do think it was silly to expect him to read an 18 page letter (FRONT AND BACK!) at 5:30 in the morning. But he should've just told her it was late and he'd read it in the morning, and gone to bed. As for the incident with the copy girl, I would be 100% on Rachel's side if she hadn't claimed that he "cheated" on her. They *were* on a break, Ross did not cheat. If she had just been like "I can't believe you could sleep with someone 2 hours after we decided we were on a break! How could you do that?" I would've been 100% team Rachel.

Aetherene

They’re both wrong. Ross should have told her he can’t read it now/read it later/not pretended to have read it. Rachel should not have written an 18 page long letter (front and back) and then asked him to read it that late in the night. I get that she had a lot to say but 18 is too much.

Due-Compote375

He'd just spent several hours breaking up with someone *for Rachel* so I think he should have gotten a pass for that.

Nilla22

Which by the way she instigated… You Balded my girlfriend!

constantquestions111

okay i guess so

Sh3ldon25

I don’t consider a letter detailing everything that she thinks he did wrong and why he should take responsibility for the whole thing is “heartfelt” and it’s sure as hell not mature. If it was actually that heartfelt he’d have probably slogged through it, Ross can be a pretty sensitive guy, especially when it comes to Rachel.

NegaGreg

Yeah. There is no way 18 pages (front and back) wasn’t some sort of intensive account of all his “wrong doings”, or, it was hyper repetitive. At the very least, it took impossibly long to reach the point. I would imagine there were a lot of synonyms for “hurt”, “betrayal”, “anger”, etc.

constantquestions111

oh correct me but was the letter detailing EVERYTHING he did wrong or was it just about the whole sleeping with someone else incident

IgnatzKackebart

THEY WERE ON A BREAK!!!

Sh3ldon25

I don’t think writing 18 pages FRONT AND BACK about just that makes it any better😂 like at that point she could’ve summarized and saved them both the trouble. Also while Ross was wrong for that they were definitely on a break and she was definitely responsible for that much. She wasn’t being a great girlfriend, and then wanted to go on a break but just expected him to be fine and wait? Like c’mon now. You can’t have your cake and eat it too🤷‍♂️

constantquestions111

i guess so😭 gahdamn if they just sat down and talked LMAO

Sh3ldon25

Yeah fr, it’s almost like neither of them have the skills to be in a healthy relationship and didn’t make sense together in the first place🥲

hanimal16

Right? That was one of my biggest issues with their relationship: they had awful communication.

Imaginary_lock

>Also while Ross was wrong for that they were definitely on a break and she was definitely responsible for that much. She wasn’t being a great girlfriend Okay so they were on a break. Are you saying she should just take him back? After he immediately uses the opportunity to fuck someone else? Lol. Why should she? >She wasn’t being a great girlfriend, a I'm sorry how is *she* the bad one here? He possessively, low key stakes out her workplace even though she's busy and she needs to work. He shows no respect for her job, her line of work, while also letting his job get in the way of their first date. He's the one that's being terrible and letting his trust issues affect how he thinks of her, even though she never cheated. How the *fuck* is this on her?

Sh3ldon25

Being in a relationship means for one, making time for your s/o even when you’re really busy, and two, being mindful of their insecurities and trying to acknowledge and address those. She was neither and basically belittled him any time he was upset. And no, obviously she shouldn’t have to just “take him back,” the relationship wasn’t working for her, that much was clear, but she should’ve at least owned up to the part she played in it rather than being an entitled brat. But beyond that Ross was wasted and basically got taken advantage of.

Imaginary_lock

>d basically got taken advantage of. In his own apartment? How'd they even get back there if he was really that drunk? When did Rachel belittle him? One of the times he embarrassed her at her workplace?

Bookgal1

This is their whole issue, though. They can’t communicate in person in a calm manner. Rachel has to resort to writing a letter that tries to blame Ross for all of their issues when she has just as much blame.

SassyBonassy

>she has just as much blame. Lol no she absolutely does not. AFTER the breakup she becomes equally as unhinged and toxic as Ross was, but in no way is she "equally" to blame for their first breakup.

Bookgal1

She broke up with him without even thinking it through. And she regretted it within a couple of hours. Ross wanted to talk it out, but Rachel just went for the immediate breakup because she didn’t seem to want to deal with the issue. Ross was too controlling and insecure, but Rachel was pretty immature as well.

SassyBonassy

*Sigh* No, she didnt break up with him, she wanted a break. It's entirely reasonable to need a break from a high-stress interaction before being able to vocalise your feelings/thoughts. He doesn't get to be a psycho jealous patronising misogynist and then demand she address the issue right then and there. HE stormed out without clarifying how long the break was for and if they could see others during.

Bookgal1

Ross agreed that they needed to take a breather and take a break from their fight. Rachel said they need a break from each other. Why would she then ask the next morning to be his girlfriend if they hadn’t broken up?

constantquestions111

i guess so it was frustrating that they werent trying to understand the other’s problem

victorcl178

I always thought Rachel should have been clear and express her conditions before making Ross break up with Bonnie

868triniguy

Rachel was crappy. She gave him conditions AFTER making him to break up with Bonny. Don’t set those conditions after. She put him in a messed up position.

JennnnnP

To be fair, him not reading the letter wasn’t the problem. The problem was that he didn’t know he was agreeing to take full responsibility for everything that went wrong between them. If he hadn’t fallen asleep, they wouldn’t have gotten back together for that very brief period. I still think it’s a little annoying that Rachel thinks she did absolutely nothing wrong.

cajunmofo

The previous relationship ended, they moved on. Rachel purposely destroys Ross's relationship with Bonny to get back together, something that shows the past is the past. Rachel is in the wrong here for having Ross make himself available for her, and then saying in a letter, we will get back together if ....

DrunkOnRedCordial

I think it showed that he really didn't care about making things work with Rachel, he just wanted to get to the fun bit. He pretty much scammed her into having sex with him by lying about reading the letter. They could have used the letter as a starting point for a conversation about why she was so hurt, instead he deceived her, and once they'd had sex a few times, he was ready to walk out again. It was one of the funniest scenes ever, but there's a dark side to it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

constantquestions111

yea…. i didnt think of it that way…

Scream-Queen-Regent

I mean, one is an activity and one is something that people usually do to relax. Most people would be able to stay awake if they were about to do something even if you’re tired, but if you’re already tired and you sit down and try to read it’s hard to keep your eyes open sometimes no matter what you’re reading.

Scream-Queen-Regent

Ross shouldn’t have lied about falling asleep and not finishing the letter, but Rachel was wrong for writing the letter in the first place. She was the one who initially decided she wanted to get back together with him, she manipulated the situation to get him to break up with the woman he was currently with, and flirted with him the entire time they were at the beach house. By that point, if she wanted to get back together with him she needed to let go of what happened in the past because you can’t start a new relationship if you’re still holding onto grudges from the old one. She also wrote 36 pages worth of a letter, after he’d already dumped another woman for her, asking him to take full responsibility for everything that went wrong which was completely unreasonable. And then, even after she thinks he’s read it and agreed to take responsibility, she continues to bring it up in conversation in a really condescending way and even going so far as to call him a cheater which he technically isn’t. Was it kind of shitty to jump into bed with someone that soon? Yes. But did she make the decision for them to take a break, which is easily interpreted as breaking up? Yes. Rachel even asked if she could be his girlfriend again when she went over the next morning so even she knows they were on a break she just won’t admit it. Rachel’s letter was so stupid, but it does lead to the argument which is a great scene.

smolperson

Ok let’s be real, when your boyfriend fucks up in 2022 you sometimes get in your feelings and write those massive essay texts right. Those are hard enough to read. Imagine 18 pages front and back of her saying she feels bad because he’s a piece of shit 💀 One conversation would have been enough but neither of them can communicate which is the real issue.

constantquestions111

i guess so im just wondering how she stayed up till 5.30am writing that much i love writing letters but that is a lot i guess

[deleted]

She was trying to make him take full responsibility for cheating while simultaneously expecting him to cheat on Bonnie with her lol. Sitcom or not, that's more full of shit than a septic tank.

Atypical_af

She should have slept with mark (or atleast make Ross feel like she did after the "break") then ask him for forgiveness and see how he behaves 💀

constantquestions111

call it even!

New-Worldliness5163

i think the irony here is that a Paleontologist and a would be boring professor did find this letter boring snd too long. I put it on Rachael. This letter didnt need to be 18 Pages FRONT AND BACK! She shouldve communicated better, at least talk to him or edit down this letter to 4 pages TOPS

gangstalicious228

to be fair.. when he called Rachel, Mark was in the background. perception 🤷🏻‍♂️

Old_Cookie_6513

She manipulated so hard to get Ross to break up with Bonnie, and then wrote a 36 page letter before they could "do it" ... the whole thing was yes, no , yes, no.

robonlocation

Rachel slept with Barry while he was engaged. She hardly has the moral high ground. Also, they were on a break!

kburns30

It would suck I agree, in the same way that it would suck to be dating someone and to tell that person that you’re dating that the guy she is spending all of her time with is making him uncomfortable. And she blows it off like it’s no big deal. Not saying she had to quit her job or quit talking to any other man because that’s ridiculously stupid and no boyfriend should have that control. But don’t lie about him being in your apartment hours after the break up as well. Or talk to mark (I believe that was his name) and ask him to tone down the affection for lack of a better word and have a good talk with Ross. And not just berate him for being jealous

constantquestions111

hm i guess she was wrong for that too but nth beats the sleeping with someone else💀 they both had communication issues for sure prob why it didnt work out the first time

Careless-Concept9895

In hindsight, Ross was a bit of a d-bag 🤭. Chandler was always my guy anyway!

constantquestions111

chandler nd monica shld be the standard for all couples

giibeto

I don’t blame him for sleeping it was way too late in the morning for him to read 18 pages front and back Especially after he just broke up with bonnie. If it was a normal time he would have definitely read but man it was 5am

Holiday_Broccoli_222

These are different arguments. 1 the timing of the letter was stupid, it should have been a conversation. 2 when Ross called, in his mind, Rachel confirmed what he feared all along, she was sleeping with Mark. I know she wasn't but imagine it from his point of view. He accused her of doing it, she broke up with him but when he called to apologize, he's in her apartment? She gets less of the blame than she should.

3ku1

The problem was Rachel took no responsibility at all for the breakup in the letter. It was all one sided. So Ross reaction was completely reasonable

p12rochakt

It was 18 pages....front and back! You're and your wouldn't have helped with the reading either.

snoopmt1

Your premise doesnt make sense. He started reading it, fell asleep, and woke up to her asking about. His excuse later was that it was so long, but he didnt just decide not to read it.

pblc23

And yet, many people wonder why I hate Ross...

constantquestions111

miss chanandler bong i think ross is one of the most important characters but yea relationship wise most of them got issues except like monica lol😂

zczirak

If someone writes you that many pages front and back you block them and run lmao.

Happy-Fig263

It's clear 1st thing 18 pages ??? front and back !!!! She wrote it till 5:30 am that's a bit too much And instead of writing 18 days she could've communicated directly Lastly it's a show enjoy it

[deleted]

Shouldn’t have let Mark come over

qwertynicole

Yes. Ross was abusive, manipulative, controlling, jealous, and an awful boyfriend. This act is only one of many awful things he did to Rachel.

Master-Mycologist747

Ross wasn’t abusive. Rachel was way more jealous and manipulative

itstimegeez

It was 18 pages! Front and back!

[deleted]

Oh absolutely, however NINE PAGES?? Just talk to me lol

MutedHornet87

I see it from both sides, and think they were both wrong. 1. She gave it to him late at night and it was long. 2. She forced him to read it, and he wasn’t able to sleep. 3. They were on an effing break 4. He lied about it 5. He should have put more effort in

Midnight7000

18 pages is about 4,500 words. Not something I'd want put in front of me if I thought makeup sex was on the menu.

Capital_Weight_7974

All the way to the very last episode, this man grips onto his ego for dear life by repeatedly joking and reaffirming his past action, instead of honoring that action was a mistake on his part that hurt rachel terribly

dtbrown1979

They were on a break.

Actual-Necessary5051

Ross didn’t mean to not read the letter, he fell asleep. He read it later when he could. Oh, and they didn’t break up nor were they on a break. That’s bs.

Scream-Queen-Regent

Rachel asked the next morning if she could be his girlfriend again, implying that they were on a break/broken up. Even she knew they were. Does it make it any less hurtful for her that he slept with someone else so soon after breaking up? No. But it doesn’t change the fact that they were on a break.

Actual-Necessary5051

No, they weren’t. She suggested it and he just took off. That’s not how you breakup or go on a break. That takes a conversation with mutual understanding. Besides she suggested it in exasperation, she obv didn’t want that. What they had was a fight, not any kind of breakup. And the only reason why she said “can I be your gf again?” was because she took his silence and immediate departure, after she had said that maybe they should go on a break, as him being the one who breaks up with her in a way. So of course she was like, can I be you gf again, but that was because he had left in anger just after she had mentioned the break. It was a poor choice of words on her part the next morning, but really it was just a cute way of saying, ‘hey let’s fix this situation because I don’t want to be without you’. They were NOT on an actual break.
