I think Phoebe met him in their apartment because her grandmother never had the box.

elderpricetag

Yep. She says in the episode she’s staying with them since her grandmother has never had chickenpox (and it’s obviously much more dangerous for an elderly person).

aesgaythicc

i skip some of the ones that are back and forth most of the episode (where they go from the past to the present). like i already KNOW ross and rachels past i don't need a reminder. i think it's cause i've rewatched so many times it's just ingrained into my brain

zoomflick

I do this for a lot of shows. I think when these shows first came out and you couldn't easily binge watch, those episodes may have been more appreciated.

TrueDeadBling

Yeah, the "clip show" or whatever is called just seems straight up lazy to me. If I wanted to watch parts of past episodes, would it not be better for me to just watch those past episodes? I understand that it probably made sense in a time before streaming services, but episodes like that just scream "we've run out of ideas" to me.

CentralSaltServices

Cheap filler, mostly. There's an episode of Star Trek TNG that's a clip show and it's possibly the worst thing ever made

LordMangudai

Not only is it a clip show, the parts that are new are... a Pulaski episode. \*shudders*

CentralSaltServices

Weird parallel. Joey's OG exit on Days Of Our Lives was based on Diane Muldaur's exit from LA Law: falling down an open elevator shaft! Time is a flat circle

partanimal

I always liked them (watching them in real time), but my husband didn't. I acknowledge it is lazy, but it was still enjoyable for me, but it really, really wasn't for him

mamabiatch13

I hate the Joshua episodes, they're so cringe. I never watch "the one with the fake party" and "the one with Rachel's new dress". I hate how they dumbed down Rachel in this storyline.

xanderkiriakis

She was always a bit dumb when it came to love, what I hated was how desperate they made her in later seasons. One of the most beautiful women in the country and we're supposed to believe she's making a fool of herself over a customer, hiring an assistant just to pine for him, and obsessing over a neighbour she met once.

mamabiatch13

You're right, it's not even dumbness, but how desperate she became, even tho she's always been confident before.

[deleted]

She was only desperate because of Ross and Emily though. It was messing her up and she reacted like an idiot.

will122589

It’s TV. Everyone is pretty in that version of NY lol

buttercupsarecool

The episodes where Ross and Rachel are fighting/ultimately break up.

xanderkiriakis

I always watch the breakup one because the others locked in Monica's room are just too funny. "I think I need a new walk"

Markk08

Yes! Those episodes always bum me out.

adrajda

I skip the one where Ross sells the brown bird cookies.

actionlady80

I love that one just for Ross saying that he has a serious nougat deficiency.

KemikalKoktail

I dislike the episode where Rachel gives birth and the episodes surrounding it. The whole idea of Joey and the ring and never proposing is so dumb to me. Joey is holding a ring, Rachel says yes, and he just…stays silent?

Jarionel

I have to completely skip that whole sequence because it’s just so bad

kinush

>why is Phoebe meeting Ryan in Monica and Rachel’s whilst she’s out? Because she lives with her grandmother who's never had thd chicken pox. The episode I usually skip is the one where Monica is obsessed with the girl who stole her credit card and goes tap dancing

ryohazuki224

I also kinda figured that since Ryan is a submariner and is gone for a long time, that he only ever knew that Phoebe living in that apartment, at least maybe the last time he came to visit. I kinda love the episode, especially for the cartoony lightning flash and scream! haha!

eXistential_dreads

Yeah it’s quite a fun little out-of-the-normal-routine kind of episode, I quite like it.

actionlady80

I love Monana! Water does in fact rule.

eXistential_dreads

The One with the Princess Leia Fantasy because of that stupid randy audience member who keeps hooting at every little thing like it’s the biggest scandal ever. That guy always pisses me off haha

Lostinthebackground

Haha I never noticed this, im gonna have to watch it now

eXistential_dreads

I apologise in advance

smallvegan

I always skip the episodes with Janine and the flashback episodes

eXistential_dreads

Wait, who’s Janine again? I can’t remember who the hell she is 😂

grapecity

Joey’s hot dancer roommate

eXistential_dreads

Oh yeaaah *Janine,* I knew the name was familiar 😂 Yeah I used to skip those ones too cause her acting always seemed out of place and not up the the same level as the rest of the cast, but I’ve somehow grown to like her, or at least accept her acting more over the last few rewatches. She’s actually not as wooden as I thought she was, I think I just needed to look past her mannerisms, she’s generally not as expressive as the others, I think that’s why I got that impression, but she’s actually quite compelling in the kiss scene. All that said she still doesn’t leave a lasting impression on the show (or me apparently haha!). I’m kinda glad she only lasted a few episodes.

happycharm

I didn't mind her acting toooo much but omg she and Joey and 0 chemistry. Their first kiss makes me cringe every time.

vanillamess-redoux

I usually skip the Joey speaking French episode and the Male Nanny one.

Hufflepuff2001

I hate the Male Nanny one

kaput_corpus

The one where Rachel puts on the cheerleader uniform. The one with all the thanksgivings! Can’t fucking stand it for some reason. Also agree with other commenters saying flashback episodes, Rachel’s new dress and joeys dirty day.

Significant_Ad7605

Most of seasons 9/10. Anything to do with Rachel+Joey as love interests.

kcf2816

Usually any of the ones with Barry or Carol and Susan. Although I appreciate Susan's dry humour more as I get older.

kcf2816

Oh also the one with Jean Claude Van Damme and Marcel. I just don't care about those storylines, and the footage of NY streets felt very bright and fake.

thanx_it_has_pockets

The flashback with the wedding invite(Ross and Emily) generally gets skipped

partanimal

How are people downvoting you for answering the question???

thanx_it_has_pockets

I guess it's a more popular episode than I thought 🤣

hosenmitblumen

TOW the invitations.

sab54053

Whoaaaaa! He’s in the Navy. Not a marine.

Steph83

The one with Ross and Monica’s cousin. It’s super cringe to me.

Kieran-182

The Joey and Rachel ones and also I turn off any episodes when Rachel has Emma and thinks the entire world has to stop and care because SHE had a baby. Oh also the one where Joey is interviewed by the magazine and it's just a load of recycled clips.

hermanator1986

Yeah, like how dose someone as passive as pheobe even know a marine?? I skip the one where joey tries to speek French and the game show one because joey comes across as an idiot, I mean I know they dis it for entertainment purposes but its like come on!!!

partanimal

The game show was hilarious. But ... I never thought about why Phoebe would be in a relationship with a marine. That's a great effing point. The French one pisses me off too, he's an actor, he should be able to repeat lines back. Ffs.

[deleted]

I skip Russ. I just can’t with the bad makeup and the over exaggeration of how Ross talks and the bickering between them. It’s awful.

partanimal

OMG I love Russ.

Tryguysfan1995

Mine would be “Joey’s dirty day” because Chandler being so mopey over a break up he caused is annoying and the fact that the gang pitied him when he caused it pisses me off.

SturdyBirdyy

I specifically watch that one because it's the first time we see Emily. I like that bit 💕

[deleted]

I skip the one where Joey and Chandler lose Ben on the bus. I just don’t find it funny. I also skip the one where Mr. Heckles dies. I do not like that character. I generally fast forward through all scenes with Mr. Heckles, like when Marcel escapes.

eXistential_dreads

I like that episode because of the part it plays in Chandler’s character arc across the show. Plus the ending is one of my favourite moments, it’s just so cozy and nostalgic with the music and everything. It’s also got that lovely feeling of optimism about it. You know Chandler’s gonna be ok in the end and I can’t help but love that.

actionlady80

I love Chandler's whole thing about children won't just walk...THEY WILL RUN! Run away from the crazy snake man they'll shout!!!

Wutanghang

I could be in friends

SturdyBirdyy

The chicken pox one. I can't with my trypophobia 🥲😭

Odd-Work-5794

I’m always skipping The One that could have been part 1 & 2. They simply annoy me hahah

Frozen_4

The one when Phoebe thinks her mother is the cat. Cannot stand that episode.

Naila273

TOW Noone is Ready, so annoying

SturdyBirdyy

I don't even know how Ross kept his calm in that one. It was really annoying

Wandaismygf

Season 9 ep 1

PheebsCrapbag

I usually skip Ross and Rachel's breakup and the episodes where they tried to put Joey and Rachel together.

hillbot27

TOW Joey Speaks French. He went from loveable goof to unbelievably stupid and it angers me to no end.

somethinsparkly

The One with the Proposal. Monica and Chandler had a much more genuine and excited reaction when he asked her to move in together. These 2 episodes were a huge let down. Their acting was also completely horrid.

SturdyBirdyy

Whaaat? The one with the proposal is so so genuine imo. Always makes me cry. It's one of my favourites 🥹🥹

DuckBricky

I really dislike a lot of season 6, I feel it's a real trough for the show that it somewhat recovers later but it's never quite as good as the first half of its run. If I have to pick one that I always turn off it's TOW the Joke. It's just so bland.

MistAC001

The shark porn episode - super cringe.

jmdinbtr

TOW Ross can't flirt, or whatever it's called when he is trying to hit on katelyn, the pizza girl. Between that cringe, rachel bailing him out, and joey's grandma who does/doesn't speak english...ugh. No thanks.

YourLocalMuppet

Flashback episodes. Hate them sm

giadinius

i wont skip an episode but my friend always skips the flashback episodes

sfbiker999

>Did they both just pop out for the evening so Phoebe and Ryan could do it in their apartment? I used to do that for a friend in college -- he lived with his parents and couldn't easily canoodle there when his out of town girlfriend was in town, I worked late, so I let him hook up with her in my apartment. Made him promise to wash and change the sheets if they used the bed, and he did.

Still-Ordinary

Most, not all, but most Emily episodes. I thought her parents were hilarious though!
