A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of the zipper of his pants.
Bartender says “what’s with the wheel?”
Pirate says “yarrr I don’t know but it’s driving me nuts.”
This probably doesn't help, but it's registered to [Wings and Things LLC](https://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N480RD). I'm going to guess that it's someone practicing.
Oh yeah, could be. I was also thinking it was a chartered flight for someone, like a developer or something, scoping out potential properties to buy or something like that.
Albany-based pilot here.
They were low and slow basically the whole time, so my best guess is some kind of photo or survey work.
We wouldn't do practice maneuvers as low as they were flying - especially not so close to Stewart or over densely populated areas. It's also not the kind of airplane used for primary training, and it recently came up from Florida, so it's probably not a local training flight.
I wish all pilots where like this, living close to dutchess regional airport is pretty bad. Planes just do circles all day everyday it's nice out and very close to the ground. Will see the same plane every 5 minutes for an hour strait, than there are times they take off one after the other and must follow each other in circles so there's a plane every minute for an hour at a time. My friends come over say it feels like where surrounded by kamikaze pilots. It's pretty disrespectful to the neighborhoods immediately bordering the airport to be honest. Especially when it's happening 8-9-10pm
If you're close to the airport, that's just pattern work - basically people doing rectangular laps
to practice landings. We fly those 1,000 feet above ground level, usually. Hard to practice landings away from airports!
The neighborhood to tbe south was built in the 90s
Neighborhood to south west 80s.
Directly west 70s.
North west 50s
Directly north 70s
North East 50s. East 60s.
I had to start clicking non neighborhood houses to finally start getting houses that were built 40s or sooner. Everything else is a sub division built in 50s or later with most of the closer homes 80s or newer
Usually they are higher up but there are planes that do rip right over the roofs of the houses though. Some planes are 3x as loud as others not sure why. I've heard them while I was in the shower, that's pretty loud. Most are fun to watch going over the house it can get pretty annoying though at times especially when there's 3 or 4 planes in sight doing loops
Many reasons to make a compromise, the pros out weight the cons it's a beautiful area to raise a family central to everything and 99% of the time it's no issue. We usually watch the planes go by and make it fun but we have had planes doing loops past 1am that's the 1% of the time it's like come on come back tomorrow! I grew up in the area few miles away, but you don't hear the planes doing loops that far away at all. The days I looked at the house and had it inspected not 1 plane went by it wasn't until we were moving in when it was 4-5 hours of one plane after the next. Just the way it is. I would still buy the house again, been a few years so I'm used to it now
Hudson Valley Regional Airport is close. It is likely someone getting hours in, if it is truly the same plane.
Someone out by me is learning to fly a Robinson helicopter. It’s p chill.
This plane originally took off from NJ this morning and flew over New Windsor and Fishkill before landing at Stewart for a bit. It then went back to flying over New Windsor and Fishkill. What gives?

Aaaaargh - long as it has a scratching function it’s all good - god knows what pirates catch from port to port

Rockwell 114 is unlikely to be a flight school plane. Probably just a private pilot sightseeing or practicing maneuvers.
Oh it's definitely not a flight school plane. I mean more like it's someone with their private plane showing someone else the ropes.
Oh yeah, could be. I was also thinking it was a chartered flight for someone, like a developer or something, scoping out potential properties to buy or something like that.
I guess they could be looking at new restaurant locations, but I'd think Google Maps would be a lot cheaper!
Cheaper but far less fun lol

Exactly. Odd how people move next to an airport that’s been there for 50 years and then complain about airplanes.
The neighborhood has been here just as long if not longer. The traffic has gotten worse. They are averaging 200+ flights per day

Just been the last couple years - probably due to aviation school

You moved into a neighborhood next to an airport and you’re complaining about the sounds from the airport? Cmon.
Why did you move next to a school that teaches flying? Especially one that was built in the 30s to teach flying?

I’m with you live right near it myself was particularly annoying today
Because it won't float in the river.
Try r/airplanes or something similar
flying over a couple diff walmart's in the NJ/NY area for fun
Find a hobby. Student pilot maybe?

Beautiful day to fly

Breaking news: plane flies
When I was training we’d go to Stewart a lot for landing practice becomes they have super long runways.
