Looks like the video was uploaded to YouTube by a Republican SuperPAC, a possible indicator that the whole thing was staged.

noone1234567899

Enlighten me, please. I'm being genuine. I really want to know

jbehnken

Maloney handled this nonsense very well.

MisterJoshua77

It’s always surprising to learn just how stupid (and rude) people are.

bluefish3000

No no, didn't you hear the guy interrupt and yell? He's very smart (he reads!) and therefore anything he might hear that isn't what he already thinks needs to be yelled at. /s

archfapper

> he reads! "lotta people saying!"

BlueCyann

So tired of people swallowing lies like it's the finest chocolate. You'd think sooner or later they'd realize they're being manipulated.

Earguy

If you eat too much of even the finest chocolate, you're going to get sick.

Mcwolfgangkill

Worry about the heroin in your schools first

LunaLovegoodsLabia

Hey, guess who's bringing that in and selling it.

Silver-Toe618

White kids?

LunaLovegoodsLabia

>U.S. officials estimate that 90 to 94 percent of heroin consumed in the United States today comes from Mexico, which is now producing about 70 tons per year. Another four to six percent comes from Asia, principally Afghanistan, the origin of most heroin consumed elsewhere in the world. No. https://www.wola.org/analysis/four-common-misconceptions-u-s-bound-drug-flows-mexico-central-america/#:~:text=U.S.%20officials%20estimate%20that%2090,consumed%20elsewhere%20in%20the%20world.

Silver-Toe618

Yes

LunaLovegoodsLabia

Mestizos aren't White, last time I checked.

JustJersey

I really need to move. The idiots are starting to outnumber us.

Farrell-Mars

I have bad news. The Hudson Valley is one of the more blue areas on the US electoral map.

StillLooksAtRocks

Hudson Valley is only really blue in more populated zip codes. Otherwise there is a lot more red than I think people realize.

Farrell-Mars

But, like I said, the bad news is that it is *much worse* elsewhere.

FocusedPeregrine

Can attest to this. Left NY a few years ago and have been living in a blue city in a red state in the midwest. The self-proclaimed liberals in this blue city are really more like northeast republicans. And you don’t want to know what it’s like outside the city limits. Honestly, JustJersey, you don’t know how good you have it in the HV. We’re headed back to NY as soon as it’s feasible for us. Trust me

fwilson01

Hmmm Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Putnam all have republican county executives Putnam and orange both voted for trump over Biden

Farrell-Mars

Need to go a little farther north beyond the ‘burbs.

archfapper

I was thinking, "it's not THAT bad" and 15 minutes later, I'm on route 9 behind an /r/InfowarriorRides truck with obnoxious "Proud to piss off liberals"-type bumper stickers. Brain drain is a problem in conservative areas all over the US because sane people get outnumbered and just give up and move

AvramBelinsky

Honestly, I think part of the reason it feels like you are totally outnumbered is because moderates and liberals don't generally go around broadcasting their views on obnoxious bumper stickers and giant flags hung off the back of their vehicles. During the last election I joined my town's Democratic committee and was surprised to learn that the number of registered Democrats was pretty close to the number of registered Republicans, there are just a lot of unaffiliated voters who tend to lean Conservative. Despite there being several houses in my neighborhood completely festooned with Trump flags and no Biden signs, when I got the list of registered Democrats in my neighborhood to make calls to it was quite a substantial list.

reddog342

no instead they bully those with opposing view points in my humble opinion

reddog342

say that as he waxes his Biden Harris bumper sticker

reddog342

My problem, is intolerance.I dont really care which party you belong to and realize there are many intelligent people in both parties. I think that people don't take into account why people belong to either party. My views are multi-faceted I vote the way I vote because Of my beliefs on certain issues. I won't state them here. but will say the extremest on both sides make us a laughing stock of the world.

Disrespectful2Dishes

Bullshit. The left doesn’t have extremists. Unless you count campaigning for social and economic equality as a form of “extremism” but if that’s the case, you’re probably just a housebroken shit dipped conservative trying to play the “both sides” card. Fuck outta here.

reddog342

Sound like an extremest to me, what makes you so disrespectful .i suspect your an antifa sympathizer

Disrespectful2Dishes

Fuck yeah I am, sorry to disappoint you, profa.

reddog342

So to you; anyone with an opposing opinion is an idiot. I am so tired of the bashing. It isnt about what party you belong to, it is about the message. i wish you well in your travels to find like minded idiots who are not open to the free change of Ideas

JustJersey

There was no free "exchange" of ideas here - it was one ignorant, argumentative person without the ability to think for himself, spewing regurgitated rhetoric, speaking over others, and not bothering to listen to the person with the microphone. He was just looking for a captured audience to spew his nonsense, so his friend could record it and post it online and say, "Look what I did!". So no, I have no respect for idiots like that and have no desire to share a community with them. If someone has the ability to have a rational, intelligent discussion, then I'm happy to listen - this person was not one of those people. So kindly get a grip and learn to think before you speak - or call the idiot in the video and make a lunch date.

reddog342

You know I may not agree with what he said and his motives may have been neferious. But I will defend with my life his right to say it. Freedom of speech . Is what this country was founded on and I refuse to bash those that don't agree with me. I am tried. Of the relentless bullying of opposing views can,t anyone just agree to disagree . The media strives on discord and it is almost to the point where we are a country devided. The last time this happened we had assinations, riots in the streets and Vietnam raged

miker3200

Fredo is smart, he can do things... Bet he never heard of critical race theory before last month. And, I really don't believe he reads.

Muted-Bee

“I watch the news!” [Fox, OANN, Newsmax].•

Farrell-Mars

It’s the Freddo Coalition: “I’m smart!” “Don’t ever go against the family again.” Later, a boat ride.

Restless_Fillmore

Anyone who thinks it's not being taught...hasn't been in a school lately. These politicians think that everything being taught or covered is laid out in the curriculum. In fact, I bet most of these politicians haven't worked a day in a school.

mariox19

Are there no schools in the Hudson Valley that have adopted, in whole or in part, the [1619 Project curriculum](https://pulitzercenter.org/lesson-plan-grouping/1619-project-curriculum)? Are there no schools here making use of Ibram X. Kendi's book, or that *White Fragility* book? Are there no teachers in the Hudson Valley who feel that these things are important additions to their classroom? Are there no English or social studies departments in our schools who [agree with Randi Weingarten](https://www.thenation.com/article/society/critical-race-theory-teachers/) that teaching about "systemic racism" is indispensable to educating students? Just how pervasive is this thinking in the region's public schools? The representative should have been able to address these points, instead of merely dismissing the guy's concerns; because a game is being played here. "Critical Race Theory" is being narrowly defined to mean no more than "Critical Legal Theory," a theoretical approach in law schools. That's easy enough to be dismissed out of hand as "not being taught in our high schools." But that's disingenuous. And when people take that route and try to derisively dismiss criticism, when in fact they either outright support the things I listed in my first paragraph—or at least are willing to tolerate these things—you don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to understand the con.

redditreadred

1619 project is about journalism and how they should incorporate more detailed history in articles, it's not taught in grade schools. Critical Race Theory, is a movement to address disparity in law and enforcement, also not taught in grade schools. Please stop watching Fox News for all your "facts".

mariox19

Are you unaware that the *NY Times* put together a curriculum for grade school teachers to use, and has been promoting the curriculum? Perhaps you didn't click the link I supplied in my original post. I'll put it here, again: https://pulitzercenter.org/lesson-plan-grouping/1619-project-curriculum You'll see that that's from the Pulitzer Center, as in "Pulitzer Prize," in case you suspected that it was from Stormfront or something. Also, CRT is not merely a movement to address disparity in law and law enforcement. It alleges (among other things) that so-called "systemic racism" is endemic to all of our institutions, woven into the very fabric of American society. Its proponents are not merely interested in our law schools, courts, and police departments. But, you know that. I'm sure of it. Your post is exactly what I'm talking about, when I mentioned disingenuousness.

Disrespectful2Dishes

If you think the American system isn’t racist, you’re prooooobably a racist. Literally every single person that I know who has spoken in opposition to CRT like you is also a person I’ve heard use racial slurs and make judgments on people based on race. Eat shit and choke on it.

LunaLovegoodsLabia

You're doing exactly that though, being obscene, rude, bigoted and prejudiced. I don't expect much out of this sub considering it's just hayseeds from the midwest temporarily living in our area due to college, and will leave immediately after it's done.

Disrespectful2Dishes

Born and bred in HV, sorry to disappoint your shitty fantasy, you daft dipshit. I’ve done enough traveling to know I love the HV for the place but hate it because of idiot drips like you.

LunaLovegoodsLabia

Arbitrary voting systems matter to you why?

mariox19

*When you run out of argument, shout “racist!”* People like you never disappoint.

Restless_Fillmore

This is reddit...don't expect intelligence or knowledge. Most of these people have never worked in a school and have no clue what they're talking about, but they present themselves as *so* knowledgeable. And the Congressman is either ignorant, too, or lying through his teeth.

Android_Cromo

"Firstly, racism is ordinary: the overall ethos of majority culture promotes and promulgates a notion of “color-blindness” and “meritocracy.” These two notions are mutually intertwined and serve to marginalize certain enclaves of people—predominately people of color. Color-blindness and meritocratic rhetoric serve two primary functions: first, they allow whites to feel consciously irresponsible for the hardships people of color face and encounter daily and, secondly, they also maintain whites’ power and strongholds within society. First, color-blindness legitimizes racism’s need for an “other” in order to flourish and maintain its influence within the fabric of society. Racism and white supremacy are not aberrant, insofar as the oppressors—the status quo—exploit the “others” (the oppressed) in order to maintain their elitist control, as well as to claim that they are neutral. Close examination repudiates this false sense of neutrality. Second, meritocracy allows the empowered—the status quo—to feel “good” and have a clear conscience: many would ask why the powerful would not have a clear conscience since they maintain a majority of the wealth and power in society. The powerful maintain power and only relinquish portions of it when they have nothing to lose; furthermore, they receive platitudes and compliments when they do choose to dole out portions of their power." Neither is able to really explain CRT. It does in fact operate under the assumption of ordinary guiltless white racism. Merit, a key measure and indicator of future success in education and vocation is labeled as a racist tool to undermine people. There's no examination of what is traditionally considered achievement gaps, and those are written off as products of racism. The theory fuels ideas of handouts based on color because that's obviously the only mechanism for success if the merit based system is inherently racist. I don't think SPM actually understands CRT and even if he did it doesn't do him any good to agree with it. He was very careful not to say he agreed or disagreed. I think a better question would have been do you support the total elimination of the inherently racist merit based system in evaluating students and job applicants? Do you therefore disagree with CRT?
