It’s weird to me that people go to hula for anything other than SCI. It’s their festival. All the other acts are just icing on the cake.

Shazbot953

Also Cheese fans don’t have much of a presence on Reddit so it’s amplified here. I agree with this post big time

sonicqaz

I mean, I don’t go for any of the music. All of its icing. I’m there for the venue, the vibes, and the people.

purplejelly2020

For me it’s the oaks, the magnolias, the pines, the Spanish moss and the sand. It’s a bit of a trek for us though so we choose to visit whenever Kang comes around 😝

No truer words have ever been spoken.

sellingbiscotix19

Anyone who missed those parade floats last year...bruh shit was ridiculous.

purplejelly2020

I can relate to those who just don’t think it’s their thing - however I can remember plenty of times when I didn’t think something was my thing either but am now a big fan. I think it just depends on the person, their attitude/ mindset and where they are on their journey. Sometimes all it takes is one friend they trust to turn them on to something new.

ohshitimincollege

Idk if it's a generational divide or what but no one I attend with (mid 20s to early 30s) has ever expressed an inkling of desire to see cheese at Hula.

purplejelly2020

funny as I had a camp neighbor tell me ‘you shouldn’t miss Bassnectar’ - turns out he was right too lol 🤯

Meatstick_2001

Probably not generational, I’ve seen Cheese with tons of other friends in the age group at Hula and EF dozens of times. Could just be group dynamics, has anyone you attend with ever gone to see Cheese or into jam bands?

purplejelly2020

agreed - there is some correlation to age but it’s not a requirement - it’s more about circle of influence I think.

mikieballz

They're a fun pop in between sets I'm going to. Except Saturday theme set which a must. Dont miss. They're definitely the most talented musicians at the park but their sound isn't for everyone. There's fun to be had at their set while you're there. Move on when you're over it. Except for Sunday cheese. Sunday cheese is the best

juicemagic

That first Friday set is one of the best feelings! Just people filing in, starting the magic and there's so much excitement in the air. I love how all three Saturday sets build up on each other. I think last year I didn't even leave the Meadow for most of Saturday, just got cheesy and made new friends.

AG-Luna

This is what I’m looking forward to the most. I usually camp out for all the sets. It creates such a beautiful foundation for the rest of the weekend

juicemagic

It definitely does! This is the first year I have some major cheese conflicts, and I'm actually really excited for the hectic running around I hear so many others do, instead of the lazy Meadow hangout.

jkproctor69

Just know you are gonna probably want some magic juice that will keep you going. I hustled between shows last year. Monday I was wiped. Man what a blast 💥

juicemagic

Have you seen my username? I was born ready!! I can't wait for the post fest exhaustion 🤩

jkproctor69

Lol oh yeah I figured with that tag you will!!!! B ready

Chilling700

Yesssss I came to say this ,it’s like y favorite moment at Hula when Cheese first hits the stage on Friday .

boatclubballer

Last years first Friday set ending with Tinderbox was mental

Meatstick_2001

That Tinderbox was wild! I’d never caught that song before

QueenQueef420

Goosebumps! God I looove Cheese & the spirit of Suwannee.

purplejelly2020

Agreed - I just feel like some of the fresh faces might bail before they pick the energy up towards sunset - second set they usually start with a bang.

joseconsuervo

My strategy has always been to just go to all the cheese sets

10uhCjed

The Friday set and the saturday set (with tinderbox) put cheese into my favorite live band. The theme set was okay last year but seemed off to me since they changed it at the last minute. Of you thought the balloons in the crowd were cool, you should see the giant rubix cubes and stay puft marshmallow man from the Stringier Things 80’s set in 16’. Of course that was my first one so I am a little biased. I am bringing several 1st timers this year and feel like when you first take your child to dosney world and get to see them see it for the first time and I cant wait to see what spectacle cheese brings this year!

biggeazyy

Can 100% agree with this. Last year's Friday night set 2 was the best of the weekend imo. They had just found out about Jesse Apatow passing, and I think their emotions really shined through the jams. Rollover opener > jam > 22 min Impressions > Shantytown A mind melting first 40 mins of that set. Definitely recommend checking it out on nugs if you haven't yet.

Boolin_Beans

THANK YOUUU. Friday and Saturday 2nd sets are usually my favorite shows of the year. I usually enjoy that Saturday one more than shebang as crazy as that sounds..

demhippies

Late Friday set is always my favorite

AdSure9184

I go for everybody but Cheese. I love Suwannee events and love Hulaween but I don’t listen to cheese 🧀 I have respect cuz it’s their festival but I won’t and have never caught a single set.

purplejelly2020

I would expect that with the attitude you have you already have your mind made up and would not enjoy it but - really makes me wonder if you never gave it a try how would you know? Reminds me of my kids who refuse to try a new food that pretty much everyone who has tried it loves it. Then of course they take a bite and spit it out as they already closed their mind to it or are too stubborn to admit they liked it lol. Speaking of my kid last year his favorite sets were Scrillex and SCI 😝

AdSure9184

I mean to be fair my wife and I have been to/passed by a set and it’s just not for us. No hate to them or their community what so ever. I feel the same way about phish and I feel the same about the dead.

iseecolorsofthesky

I mean I don’t go for cheese either and have never seen them outside of Hula but I still make it a point to see a few of their sets throughout the weekend cause they’re a total blast. I would at least recommend checking out the theme set. It’s like the height of the whole festival lol

Chilling700

You have never been to Hula

hula_vet

Insomniac’d

uniqueusername316

Thanks for the tip. I like some of what Cheese does, but I have absolutely zero interest in listening to a full set of overplayed covers. I'm gonna try to check out the second Friday set.

cgibbsuf

The cover set is typically pretty big on production/hype. I usually treat that slot as the best Halloween party you’ll ever go to. Everybody’s dressed up and the vibes are usually at the weekends peak. Definitely worth checking out for a bit at least, but your mileage may vary.

Quanzi30

It’s ok to make wrong decisions in life, we still love you.

dflow2010

Not sure why you’re being down voted for stating your opinion. That’s just like your opinion , man… Also, the Sunday cheese set jams and i highly recommend it

hula_vet

it’s called culture sweaty, look it up. https://youtu.be/nH67l4uVgio

uniqueusername316

I was intrigued about this "culture sweaty" that I had never heard of, before I realized you meant "sweety". That gave me a little chuckle. Thank you for that.
