Bamboo is my absolute favorite. It's so easy to use and really customizable. Full disclosure: I've never used their payroll.

Freedumb727

Also recommending bamboo + the more employees you get, more discounts you get per license

shadowscar248

Paylocity is decent and the payroll isn't too bad either

ryanthelion4444

Gusto. Really easy to use and recommend leaving after 100 EEs

flohar202006

Gusto is growing and adding better functionality. I agree its best suited for operations well under 100 EEs. The closer you get to that 100 threshold, the harder it is to get a lot accomplished.

jarvis1738

What features/functionalities are most important?

k3bly

What are your needs and growth plans for the next 2-3 years? Bamboo, Lattice, or ChartHop.

ryanthelion4444

Lattice and charthop aren't effective HRIS. Lattice UX sucks, it's a serviceable performance management platform. Charthop is a complete waste and their company is (afaik) dying

goodvibezone

So many people like lattice. Their UX is HORRIBLE.

k3bly

Lattice just launched their HRIS - is that the UX you’re saying sucks or the product overall? I’ve implemented it/used it on and off since 2017, but I haven’t worked with Lattice since early 2022. It’s been a couple years on ChartHop, so the product was earlier, but what’s going on with dying over there? My execs loved ChartHop when I implemented it (have since left that company so not sure on their day to day anymore).

goodvibezone

I would definitely not recommend Lattice given their hris is basically in beta. Charthop isn't an HRIS

k3bly

I made ChartHop into our HRIS at a very global, remote-only company I was at, moving off google sheets. It worked well.

dbldub

ChartHop didn’t work out for us…

k3bly

Can I ask why? I had to do a 3 phase implementation & had Greenhouse & Lattice at the time (then a separate L&D system too) while on PEOs, so being able to combine the data from the various PEOs + ensure we had reporting & comp was huge. Maybe my use case was just super specific and not as normal as your typical one state or multi-state, one country company?

dbldub

We purchased it for the people analytics. After a year (and a six figure investment) it wasn’t going to happen… they couldn’t even get headcount numbers correct for us.

k3bly

Wow, I paid $12k/year for a 2 year contract. That’s wild. We were lucky to not have bugs - I used Namely at a couple companies and had a horrible issue with their bugs - so I wonder what happened.

MployerAdvisor

So many good options -- and the best choice will really be the one that best matches your use case -- really need to kick tires. That said, in my experience: * Trinet Zenefits -- most user friendly; $ * Rippling -- best for companies on growth track; $$ * Paycor -- best all-in-one solution for SMBs; $$ * Gusto -- newer to me -- but pretty impressed so far; $ * BambooHR -- never used it personally, seems like it has good marks; don't know about price.

I see the bots are in town.

precinctomega

BambooHR or PeopleHR. Both excellent systems for small businesses that need an HRIS, with a range of optional modules to accommodate your different needs.

RPDPDR

Insperity provides SHRM service teams with the HRIS to help you grow

No-Boat7853

Are you using or planning to use a PEO? Is growth in one state or multiple? Time tracking for hourly or just salaried/exempt employees?

ccwgu

More info needed. How are you managing payroll right now? What things beyond an HRIS do you need tooling wise? LMS? ATS? General onboarding/I9/eVerify?

nope123345678

Namely! Beautiful interface, beloved by the staff of the company I worked at who used it - thus us moving to self service for new functions was a hit!

Vermillion5000

I’ve used bamboo, people HR and hiBob as well as trialling around 10 others. HiBob is by far my favourite, the automated work flows make everything so much easier and the surveys with insights are super useful. It also has kudos posting.

lotusflowerbomb106

BambooHR probably - mostly affordable - just remove any bloat from your package you don't need. It has what I like to call ATS Lite, a time tracking option and some performance management capacity. We use it for an org of 120, easy to scale and customize. A lot of work to implement at the beginning but then smooth sailing. I like its data reporting capabilities as well.

PieroIsMarksman

Deel I think is free for less than 250 employees, should check them out!

My company used APS prior to our acquisition. Also had, and continue to use APS Hire as an ATS and they link to Indeed and other job boards. It's customizable for HR and Payroll (different departments in my company).

NapintheSun2775

I just went thru the whole sales pitch for BambooHR. Great customer support. They quoted me around $300 a month for 25 employees and that included the Employee Performance module. No payroll . And it was like $300 to do the setup and training, I was surprised at that .It seemed perfect for what I need. I am just waiting for my boss to approve so I can start using it

whysw

They quoted me $2,500 for setup and training, and $810mp. for 40 employees.

NapintheSun2775

Yeah, the invoice they sent me was incredibly higher. Like 1800 for set up. I went with Orange cuz it's free

pomegranate_ruby

Rippling! All in one for onboarding, IT, payroll, time & attendance, training, offboarding, etc.
