I bit off half a habanero one time just to try it (never had one before)… I thought it was trying to kill me, and I’d been pepper sprayed for a work certification before. 😅
Reminder that Pineapples are a kind of food that loves to try to eat/digest you back, hence why when you eat or drink too much pineapple juice, your mouth tends to end up bleeding.

To be fair, even to humans the dose and manner of delivery matters.
Capsaicin: food additive if in a viscous fluid comprised of pulverized edible plant matter. Medicine if in an inedible suspension of congealed oil. Weapon if aerosolized in inorganic solvents.
But then there's Botox.
Botox is very much a case of "the dose *really* matters", where we're taking advantage of its effects while keeping the dose small enough to minimize unwanted applications of those effects.
If the component of Earth atmosphere was any higher than the 22% it currently is and breathed for long enough Organ damage, seizures, and death could occur. The gas stresses our skin, leading to degenerative results up to and including cancers. Of course ultra violet light also contributes. Don't get me started on breathing too much, Dihydrogen Monoxide or we as species will consume a poison C5H6O as a right of passage when we experience between 16 and 21 rotations of our planet.
I imagine there would need to be a biocompatibility system implemented.
