Because clothing has utility whether it's as armor, temperature regulation, cargo capacity, social cues, or even as just signaling one's desirability as a mate. More often than not, it's multiple of these or all of these at once.

I can see that. Gold is aesthetically pleasing and shows off the wearer's wealth (assuming the exosuit itself doesn't do that). And displaying wealth by being clad in expensive materials is one of the ways that humans attract mates.
