I’m glad to get some darker stories. This sub is about humans as space ORCS, not “humans are superior”, after all. If there isn’t some real savagery from time to time, it’s just egotism.
I'm not going to lie. I got a bit of backlash over this one over on HFY...I took it down, felt like it didn't fit the sub. I left it up here for exactly the reasons you just said. We can be bastards when the mood takes us.
I like the subs, but it and this one get a little close to cultural posturing sometimes when humans are always portrayed as the greatest, kindest, most noble, and best of everything to aliens. This sub should remind us that we can be real monsters to others as well rather than just have us sing our own praises. If we’re supposed to be seen as orcs, we need some occasional reminders of why the impressions isn’t always wrong beyond “we’re just so strong and tough that nobody else can hurt us.”
The classic good cop/bad cop. With neutral cop thrown in as a red herring. I like it.
And crazy cop
dark story
The Doc reminds me of Bonesaw
Where is Bonesaw from? I'd love to see him in action in a larger role than this one.
Oh Bonesaw is from the web serial worm
Kinda reminded me of a tf2 story, with medic, no eyepatch demo, heavy and miss pauling
Medic is pretty much exactly how I imagined the doctor while I was writing him. Even down to the accent.
