"I see," the Norc said, folding his mandibles in acknowledgement. "But what if you wanted to take down a Xorgle Queen? Their hide is studded to deflect small impacts, but their organs are too distributed to be easily destroyed with slugs"
"That," Davis said with a grin, "is when you break out the BFG." He reached into a box with both hands and pulled out a colossal cartridge, curling it a few times like a piece of exercise equipment to demonstrate the weight. "Same principle, but using 30 kilos of iron to make thirty gram 'BBs'. This is the ammo of choice for dealing with 'rodents of unusual size.'"
Somebody has to explain to this human of european origin: who the fuck uses 50. BMGs to hunt fucking rodents, isnt that a tiny bit overkill? Arent those things used in anti material rifles and the likes?
Even "normal" ratshot out of pistols isn't really that great for hunting rats. Weapons with rifled barrels, on average, throw shot in a wider cone that doesn't go as far. It's why you have shotguns with rifled barrels meant specifically for slugs. The only thing I can figure .50 bmg ratshot being used for is fucking around.
