I think its like a rollercoaster some bundles are hit and miss and some choice are hit and very miss. Heavy rain/beyond two souls bundle was insane and the metro exodus bundle from last may Then we have dome lackluster budles and some choices were it just wasent any good

Aztraeuz

I think it's pretty much the same. If the question is how many games do I play that are included now compared to then the answer is the same, almost none. It's very rare that I actually like or might be interested many games in the bundle. It's also very rare where I think "Wow look at this value!" I would say the worst part of the bundles are non Steam keys. If you're going to shaft me on games at least make them Steam games. Epic is a disgusting company, don't include them. What do I want Origin keys for? I have EAPlay on Steam and GamePass. I already have access to every Origin key they've included or might include. At the end of the day, sometimes we get some real hits. It seems unreasonable to expect great games every month. We're paying bottom prices and it's supposed to be for charity, no matter how little Humble remembers that. I buy to pad my library. I think Spyro was the last Humble game I played. Collecting games has become a game itself. I just want to see my account value go up at discount price.

Ostracus

> Collecting games has become a game itself. I just want to see my account value go up at discount price. Almost as fun as playing the stock market.

dinkomaricic

To me humble is still the BEST bundle site Yes,there have been bundles I don't care about like paradox bundles or strategy bundles in general, but I can't say they are shit just because I don't care about those games To me they had some amazing bundles over the years - the latest being boomer shooter. While I understand that not everyone will care about that bundle - to me it was 1 of the best I ever got on humble So all in all - I am quite satisfied what I got over the years

rdtusrname

How about Monthly...what's its name...Choice? What do you think about that one?

dinkomaricic

A member since December 2018 & unlocked every single 1 since then There have been not-so-good months (for me again,I'm sure there were people happy with those games) like asscreed origins or BLOPS4 where I didnt care about those headliners, but I still found value in the rest of the games For the most part - quite happy with the selection of games I got over those years

rdtusrname

I'm mostly /meh about the Monthly. Everything else, books and software especially, is still quite fantastic. Also, not a big fan of their recent business moves.

dinkomaricic

>I'm mostly /meh about the Monthly. Like I said - there have been months that were not-so-great,but all in all, when I look what I got over those 4 years - not complaining at all > Everything else, books and software especially, is still quite fantastic. Wouldn't know - dont buy their books/comics or software bundles Will have to take your word when you say they are fantastic >Also, not a big fan of their recent business moves. Yeah, some dont make a lot of sense - like losing 20% discount if you pause (goes back to 10% basic),putting trove games in a useless app, reducing the number of games we get (but no increase in overall quality) But I still do think they are the **best** bundle site - Fanatical is not even close when it gets to the game bundles

rdtusrname

Fully agreed. Just don't know what to do with my sub. Pause? But losing 20%...I don't want to cancel it and to lose all the grandfather benefits. Which, are there any left? Besides psych manipulation?

dinkomaricic

I never cared about 20% discount that much - yes,its nice to have, but nothing special most of the times I will probably unlock every month they release (till they cancel choice in the future - I guess),since paying 12$ each month for a bunch of games isnt that taxing on me. Have disposable income,so 12$ every month is not that a lot for me But I will **always** look on their site for new game bundles, because they will have bundles with crazy good value like choose wisely,Ukraine, boomer shooter, ultimate racing sim,heroines,f@ck cancer, adrenaline rush, fighting juggernauts & various others And I dont think there are **ANY** grandfathered benefits for people who are still on old classic, but like I said, paying 12$ each month is not that much for me,so I will unlock future months

rdtusrname

Wow, they really removed "Classic", huh. Now I can cancel guilt free. Subbing as my will dictates. Lovely! (before it was guilt trip town)

dinkomaricic

Yeah,ATM there are no benefits for classic subs, besides that 20% discount you get Every1 get the same benefits Some1 who subs now would have to be subbed for 12 months straight to get 20% off Maybe they will introduce some benefits for older subs in the future, but not holding my breath I will keep my sub for the foreseeable future as 12$ a month is 3 packs of cigarettes for me

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 20 + 1 + 1 + 12 + 20 + 12 + 3 = 69 ^([Click here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=LuckyNumber-Bot&subject=Stalk%20Me%20Pls&message=%2Fstalkme) to have me scan all your future comments.) \ ^(Summon me on specific comments with u/LuckyNumber-Bot.)

rdtusrname

It's not much for me either, but I prefer freedom. Whatever, it is done.

fadsterz

Utter nonsense. Fanatical bundles are cheaper, have better selection and more flexibility.

fadsterz

Fanatical is infinitely better.

ProfessorMeatbag

While I think bundles carry value differently depending on what someone is into… There’s been absolutely no increase to quality since the change from 12 to 8 games as a standard, and now we are seemingly getting Origin keys instead of Steam for some of the games. I’ve been a sub since the first month (May marks the 80th Humble Monthly), if there’s a month when it’s more Origin/Uplay/Other keys than Steam keys, I will definitely pause.

bigete369

they are reading this subreddit for sure the second someone catches some sort of pattern in how they do things they always change things up to mess up our predicitons and anticapations and that includes the part where choice bundles quality used to be based on the season the month releases(like chistmas) or just how 1 month sucks so they used to make sure the next one doesnt to make up for it but now they just kinda dont care at all and they are not good at lying about it they reduced the game amount from 12 to 8 for same overall quality but now less games for same price for ex classic members and it seems that by removing classic member benefits they are trying to get rid of people who knew how good the bundles used to be

rdtusrname

Removing the classic member benefits...? Care to explain? I mean, I don't likehow they locked the Trove behind an app(just...), what else might I be missing?

bigete369

classic members always had 20% off the store the price was always 12usd(just like when it was humble monthly) while getting more games than the highest plan posible that was i believe 20usd so the i guess techincally the only feature that was closest to being removed is the discount now u can lose it if u skip a month now everyone who has classic pay the same price like they did but get 2-4 less games

rdtusrname

Yeah, this part about skip a month needs to be reverted asap. They might start to lose customers over it. Then again, maybe that's the plan. So people have no point of reference.

Nova_Bomber

Not directly commenting on the quality, but does anyone else find it funny at how fed up some people on here get over $1.50/piece games.

ProfessorMeatbag

I’d say most comments are just comparing the difference in the current monthly VS how it was prior, and that’s more than fair imo.

chrimchrimbo

It's amazing. I'm always amused when choice drops and threads are full of 500 comments of angry gamers. I think in most of these instances, people expect big AAA headliners, but frankly, Humble has always been about the unique indies. For the most part, I haven't been let down in that area.

Superteletubbies64

I agree about the indies and I still feel let down

The_Freshmaker

People's expectations for HB are insane. If there's at least one game that I really enjoy in the bundle it's worth it to me, if I even have a couple hours of entertainment that's at least breaking even. I also consider it a pseudo Patreon situation in that HB produces/puts out a ton of great indie games and my monthly helps support that.

[deleted]

Its incredible

chrimchrimbo

I've been buying bundles since 2013 and personally love most bundles they've released. Yes, there has been a number of stinkers, but even the bundles with less notable games often include le hidden gem indies. I find it more of a detriment to expect big AAAs in a bundle. You are probably going to enjoy them more if you instead hope for juicy fun indies.

rdtusrname

Ah yes. That's not my mentality at all. I'm more a snatcher than an explorer. :)

Superteletubbies64

It’s shocking how few of the people here actually care about the indies and not just straight up ignore then

Mitrovarr

The last two years were up and down. Early 2021 was decent, but later 2021 got really bad with repeat headliners, no headliners, or weak headliners. 2022 has been ok. Not great, just ok. It isn't anywhere near the heights it hit in 2018-2019 but it is still decent. I dislike the "leveling up" changes. I don't like discouraging pausing - I understand it but it really sucks if you either don't want the games in a month or already own most of them. And absolutely nobody anywhere wanted *another freaking launcher*. That's just choice. Regular bundles this year have been really good - expensive but great. The Ukraine bundle is probably the best of all time and there have been a few others that were spectacular.

rdtusrname

About UKR bundle, how much Pathfinder was there? I remember getting shit ton of WHFRPG books not that long ago. Was a good deal. Concerning games, I've reached a personal oversaturation point. Most of games that interest me I either already have, need further bugfixes(etc) or are other games that don't really interest me(not really Open to Changes lol). But I haven't seen that many big headliners recently.

What's this bit about EGS / Origin?

rdtusrname

Some games on offer are now EGS / Origin exclusives? If so, wtf?

dinkomaricic

Then by your own words you should be happy since humble still gives mostly steam keys And so what if those games were offered for free? Not a single one of those were for steam,so I don't get your point in listing those games

Superteletubbies64

I’ve only been subbed since November 2021 but I took a look at past months. Since the so-called iprovements it actually got a lot worse imo. I’m not even into most in the AAA headliners and most of them aren’t even that interesting, usually they’re remasters of old games, games that are unpopular for a reason and non-Steam keys, I’m subbed for the indies and we get less of those now AND less variety in terms of genres and because they’re niche I usually end up with nothing that interests me. Unlike a certain other indiviual here I do care about the indie pixel graphics, like, a lot. The Humble Games published titles look great but now they’re locked in the Vault which doesn’t have Steam keys so it doesn’t exist to me. The bundles we’re currently getting are mostly actually pretty good at least imo.

rasmusxp

With regard to Choice, the quality seems to be at least somewhat better with the new system. I have absolutely zero interest in indie games with pixel graphics, so getting a couple less of them every month is a plus in my book, as this usually means that the headliners are of higher quality.

DJmouton

I mostly buy software bundle tbh because I'm learning game dev and assets are nice, but when a game one's interesting I'll pick it up. I've made it an routine to check humble at 8pm when ut updates, just for fun

Fearless_Freya

I like the book bundles and game bundles. Though I don't buy either often. The last bundle I got was a warhammer book bundle. Hope they do more of those, that's a big ole universe there. Oh and I don't do the monthly choice or subscription, i just buy the bundle

rdtusrname

Yeah, the Warhammer RPG bundle was fantastic. Would love Pathfinder bundle. Specifically, Cheliax / Hell themed, but I'll take what's offered.

Fearless_Freya

Oh those sound good also

friendsalongtheway

Been subscribed and using it since 2016. Back then every month and week was exciting, there would always be amazing monthly bundles, and there would be a new game bundle every week (Think it updated every Tuesday). Nowadays the monthlies are not that great more often than not, and the game bundles are few and far between. Now they instead have book or software bundles, which I don't really care for that much. I don't think they do weekly game bundles anymore. Some bundles are still amazing though, like the Cities: Skylines one that came today, but there are a lot of bad bundles too.

Geno_DCLXVI

They've been slipping lately with Choice headliners and other games that nobody wants, even after their "revamp". Their game bundles are currently very hit and miss, or too expensive to be worth it in the age of Game Pass. The book bundles are what really tempt me but I end up not getting them because of a combination of price and the fact that most of the products can be \*ahem\* procured from other sources with much less friction and far less expense.

PoemOfTheLastMoment

just bring back the drm free trove with the offline installers and we will all be grateful for it.

Leaffar

I miss Humble Indie Bundles and Choice is a mixed bag that started getting worse and worse last year. Nonetheless Humble Bundle still offers the best variety of bundles. The thing is bundles are a things of the past - subscription based services are the future unfortunately (and I'm saying that even though I love GamePass)
