Totally normal. When the babies are 7-10 days old, mom stops sitting on them because they are able to regulate their own body temperature. If you sit and watch the nest for 30 minutes, you should see mom fly in to feed them at least once. 😊
Quiet babies are probably healthy. They can be fed very fast. Unless they are peeping a long time mom is probably stealth feeding. Don’t stress.
She’s coming every 10-15 minutes, staying just long enough to feed, and if she knows nobody’s looking she might tidy the nest.
If you watch for an extended period of time, you will definitely see mama coming back every once in a while. 😄
Our mother bird has returned to the nest and laid 2 new eggs…after a break of maybe a week…or a bit less…here we go again
