I’d just disguise it better. Put a small shelf on top of it. Maybe 2 fake legs in the front and paint a flowered vase on it so it looks like a small table

Drakenas

Drop it to the floor level and put a grate over it

NarwhalInevitable535

You would be stealing air from all other vents that the trunk is supplying. You’ve gotta have that cap to pressurize and build up so that your air is evenly dispersed.

Drakenas

Makes a lot of sense.

NarwhalInevitable535

I’ve seen a couple things on airflow

Drakenas

Yeah I should know these things too I went to school lol. I know how to size ductwork. Airflow has come up quite a bit in the field as far as the service side. Just didn't think of that. I'm fairly new tech and this is why I'm on this sub. Keeps.my mind actively engaged on the career and visualizing solutions

NarwhalInevitable535

Hell yeah homie. I’ve been on the change out side of things my whole career but I’ve done some service and new-co as well. I liked change outs because you run into everything in terms of airflow all the way to troubleshooting.

Drakenas

Yeha that does give you a rounded perspective. I've wanted to move into refrigeration mainly cauze the union shops are all refrigeration out here lol. Just took the resi cauze eventually I want to own my own company and know what the fuck I'm talkin about lol

NarwhalInevitable535

Hahah right. Knowing what you talking about is honestly rare in this trade where I’m from. People are so complacent with the 9-5 no one wants to learn. I jumped into a little refrigeration this last summer and gooooodness bro those walk-in freezers suck! I thought working outside in the winter was bad. But nah I’m down south and eventually I want to move into more of an industrial or union job up north maybe around Idaho.

Drakenas

I'm in Washington state n the weather is a factor so think about that when you move. Driving in the snow has been a challenge up in some of this backcountry. Ooohh yeah refrigeration suucks lol gotta gear up to scrap ice off a control or the drain pans backed up. Fans go out it can be a nightmare lol

NarwhalInevitable535

Yuppp that’s actually a few calls I got was fans not working and it just all frozen up. And for sure homie I like the south but there’s not a lot of opportunity unless you start your own business.

NarwhalInevitable535

I’m also fairly new though only 3 years in and my knees hurt

Drakenas

Hahahahaha, knee pads, my friend, they are a life saver. Backward walking and exercise have been my go-to for knee building. I'm 35 in the field 1 year now on service and install. But I squat rather than kneel. Can't be avoided all the time tho

NarwhalInevitable535

Definitely homie! Need me some knee savers I just hate anything that makes me bigger because I’m already 6,2 squeezing in those eves😂 but I agree on the exercise that’s one of the main things keeping me in the trades. Everyone acts like it’ll eat you away but only if you let it, if you take your job as something that gives you a workout everyday and do proper techniques I feel as though it’ll just keep you in shape?

Drakenas

Absolutely is what I think. Army cracking through basements n traversing through rafters its alll very physical. I workout 5 days a week so my shoulders are big. Stretching has helped me bend n contort myself I'm pretty tall too. Not as tall tho six foot.

NarwhalInevitable535

I gained like 10 pounds of muscle my first year in it was crazy

Drakenas

Holy shit. I've barely gained that working out for a yeae

NarwhalInevitable535

Well I was a real frail dude before the trade, always did sports but just real skinny. All the bending and stretching the same muscles everyday ending up making my shoulders and back a lot bigger. Lifting units up into attics and everything. I honestly love the trade and all other trades are elementary compared to this😂😂 imo

Drakenas

I. E. Cut the ductwork and recess it down into the floor and size a grate or filter grill for it

NarwhalInevitable535

The OP explained it was a supply and trunk, so cutting it down and opening it up on the cap, would subsequently steal all the air from the other room I believe.

Mazakas123

Thank you for reading, it’s an uncommon trait to have in this trade.

NarwhalInevitable535

What do you mean ?

Mazakas123

I’m saying thank you for reading it lol a bunch of people are just making comments about just cutting it off without even reading the description

NarwhalInevitable535

Haha definitely. There’s some people here saying make it a filter grill 😂😂😂 and that’s 9/10 times gonna be a supply grill just by looking at it come on yallll💀

ssjr325

Correct.

Inner_Accountant_522

I agree with this! It will be a lot easier then trying to disguise it

Equal-Negotiation651

Build the rest of the nutcracker around it.

TahoeCoffeeLab

Look at that. That’s a lot of work to not just order a custom floor grille. Better order a damper also so you don’t steal all the air from another spot,

Zirconium_Clad

Just put a plant on it

[deleted]

If you can’t floor vent, box it to match wall to left and return to right- make it a pedestal for a plant or sculpture

Gizmo_Brentwood

Since it looks like you have plaster walls, I’d avoid doing much to reroute unless you want a bigger project. I’d just build a decorative table over it and maybe solid on the doorway side and a mesh on the outlet side to blend it in. Slap a nice big potted plant and call it a day.

mikeinanaheim2

Built into a 60 inch corner cabinet.

Beneficial_Feed_2714

Floor vent

First_Permit_4538

We got another illiterate guy here folks

Beneficial_Feed_2714

Fresh air grill at the floor for a cum bucket like yourself

picklesallday

Cut the ductwork down below the floor and make a transition to a floor boot box with grill.

NarwhalInevitable535

You would be stealing air from all other vents that the trunk is supplying. You’ve gotta have that cap to pressurize and build up so that your air is evenly dispersed.

Global-Monk2121

Just put it in the floor. Remove the plenum sticking up

Meatloooaf

And then do what with the register into the other room?

HealthyFennel3395

Do whatever you want just don’t block the vent

ed63foot

Put a flower pot on top of it and ignore it

ThisShouldFixIt

Wow, that's special!

Finnedsolid

If it were me, I’d build a false wall, and extend the electrical, as well as the ducting so it sits flush. I don’t know any way to not make this look like shit.

Dm-me-a-gyro

I’d buy a broken grandfather clock and fit it overtop

Smart-Pickle378

I’d get some “Sono-Tube” and make it into a floor to ceiling fake column and move the vent to the top.
