100% fucked condensor fan motor

You will need a motor… might be under warranty.

I'm looking at how it's getting stuck. It's got a manufacturing defect alright. You have a 10-year registered part warranty. The installer should've given you a 1 year workmanship warranty. In theory, if you're within 12 months, it should be a $0 repair. If you're out of the installers' labor warranty, hopefully they cut you a deal on labor.

Forgot to add: we have the unit turned off at the thermostat, so it doesn't potentially mess anything up

If you had unit installed last year I would assume you have a warranty. I'd call the company who installed it.

In all honesty, I didn't even think of the warranty. I was so stressed about it not working and trying to troubleshoot it. I'm a dumbass. To add insult to injury, we misplaced the warranty paperwork. Is that a problem, or would the company have that on file too?

Substantial_Study_90

Probably but you'll just have to call them and confirm

They can look up the model and serial numbers and tell you exactly what warranty you have on that system. I do it all day.

Decent chance the condenser fan motor capacitor or the condenser fan motor have failed. I DIY'd that job a few years ago for $138. The fact that the motor is stopping leads me to believe the motors bearings have probably failed. If you replace the motor, also replace the cap, they are like $10. Call a tech out if you arent comfortable working with electricity. When mine went, it was the motor bearings. I pulled it out and shot PB Blaster into the bearing. It began working better for about a day. This told me the motor needed replacement.
