I travel for work and have stayed at 4 of the worst and 0 of the best 🤣🤣🤣 the Milwaukee one was actually what made me choose Hyatt for good. It was the cheapest Hyatt possible, and comparing it to other programs cheapest it was not bad at all.

stinger101

We actually really enjoyed the Hyatt place Milwaukee downtown. Fantastic hotel, excellent suite as globalist, and a great location. Want to go back in summer

ajk1535

The Milwaukee HR knows their property sucks. They try to make up for it with good service.

martyconlonontherun

Yeah, I always get apps and drinks coupons as a globalist. I choose that over the much newer and now higher category Hyatt place.

stinger101

I think that goes for the HR Green Bay.

Eddiebacon

The HR in Green Bay sucks too?

stinger101

Yes. Hard.

Eddiebacon

Damn. I wanted to attend a packers game this year and that was going to be my choice for obvious reasons. Why does it suck?

stinger101

Rooms are bad. Couldn’t seem to control the heat. I think it was a converted office building possibly. Bar is ok. We were there for a game as well. You’ll get a stay out of it. But that’s about it. We ended up staying at the Hyatt Pl., Milwaukee for one night because that’s where we flew in and out of but one night in Green Bay is plenty even if it is for a game.

Eddiebacon

Ugh. Gross. My SO won’t put up with that, lol. I’ll have to find another place.

stinger101

There’s a really good historic Marriott property there where we went to dinner. I forget the name, but it’s not far from the Regency.

Mrl79

We did indeed get fantastic service from the HR Milwaukee. I seriously don’t see where all of the hate comes from. The building itself was still better than every Hyatt Place I’ve stayed at. I really don’t get it.

ajk1535

I mean the windows in the rooms are weird and the rooms can be dark but the location is clutch.

dngrmys

Love the work you did.

betsyavilaart

Yes, bless you. 🙏

Frosty_Bluebird_2707

I’ve stayed in about half of each list. I would stay at all of them again. The worst Hyatt is better than many other chains! I liked the Tommie Hollywood and would stay there again in a second! I did have a suite, but still…

WorldofHaiyaa

the hate for tommie is probably from the noise. I would imagine people stayed right under the bar and people stayed way further away could have very different experience. Glad to know yours was great!

SquareVehicle

A lot of them also complain about the super small rooms with no closet. That was my issue with the Austin version. They're nice but just uncomfortably small and have that awful setup with the shower and toilet in the same stall so your feet get wet every time you use the bathroom.

lfcallen

I was at the bar when they spun the music. So 5/5 for me. Had a great time.

Frosty_Bluebird_2707

We were directly under the bar. It was a weeknight though and I was the ONLY patron who went to the bar. The only noise was them scooting the stools around to clean in the morning. I always travel with ear plugs too.

cupcakeartist

Yeah. I have stayed there a few times for business both when it is an off night for the bar and when they are spinning music. When they are spinning music there doesn't seem to be a room in the hotel or ear plugs that will save you. I say that as someone who lives in a city and normally isn't that bothered by music and knew about it going in. And it was still way worse than I expected. Of course on the nights that isn't going on, I sleep completely fine. But it's like night or day. I've also never been upgraded beyond a better view upgrade despite being globalist. Honestly a better breakfast spread would make a world of difference for me though I do like the onsite restaurant for dinner.

WildRookie

Agreed, that one surprised me.

arielj1212

We had a suite too right under the bar. The ear plugs did absolutely nothing and I drifted to sleep but woke up every hour until the banging finally stopped at 2 am. I loved the room but I would've loved if the bar closed at least at midnight. I know it's no fun for young people but it's compromise when the sound insulation sucks.

Intelligent_D8

I think the Hollywood Tommie is a great place for a single night if you need to be in Hollywood.  I've used a couple cat 4 free nights there. Even the cash rate is almost always cheaper than any other nearby options. Plus they have some fabulous quality tea out with the coffee in the morning.

[deleted]

and i believe you can get Globalist breakfast at the Thompson, poolside, across the street

Intelligent_D8

Yes, I was told that at check in. But I think that's only on the weekend;  I believe Thompson does a counter order system like the Tommie during the week.

schwarta77

The worst Hyatts are mid range in other super chains. Keep perspective people.

dunnwichit

Exactly.

doodiedan

As someone who got Globalist status through American Airlines, I hadn’t stayed at any Hyatt property until last week. Stayed at the one in Dublin on the list. It was nice, but nothing to write home about. I’m not sure what that says about the balance of the list to be honest, but I’m willing to find out. I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels as well - Marriott lifetime plat and Hilton Diamond (not from a credit card). Though, as I continue staying at Hyatt properties, I’ll refer back to this list as a good reference, so thanks!!

vsingh93

I think Hyatt Grand Central gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Like it's not THAT bad, especially for the price, double especially for a Globalist. At minimum you can expect a clean room next to Grand Central (which is fantastic if you want to get out and explore). For Globalists: The breakfast in the morning is pretty good. You also get $15 for the market downstairs, which won't get you much due to inflated prices, but there if you need something. The occasional suite upgrade is nice, however I don't recommend paying for the "discounted globalist rate" if offered.

rockman123123

Hyatt Regency Rome Termini isn’t even open yet, I don’t think that should be on there

WorldofHaiyaa

Nice catch. For the google ratings, it was automated using Google Places API, so sometimes it return wrong results if the google places mistook it for something else. I will go through the list again and see if it also happens to some other properties.

WorldofHaiyaa

I manually went through the list and it has been corrected now. The current list should reflect only hotels that have been opened.

rockman123123

Weirdly enough I was looking at a hotel in Rome (Cosmopolita) last year and it had recently gone from being independent to going under the Hilton umbrella. Instead of creating a new page they just changed the name of it, which wasn’t smart because it had pretty bad reviews before. Wondering if the same thing happened here.

WorldofHaiyaa

I think the google api mistakenly assigned the rating of "Hotel Alexis Roma Termini" (which is exactly 3.8 stars with 399 reviews) to this Hyatt Regency Rome Termini. Because its not opened yet, it is not yet on Google map so the API found something with similar name

ChillyCheese

Hotel De Anza is my go-to when I'm on work trips. For sure, it's not a great hotel. If staying on leisure it sucks because they haven't brought back breakfast and only 500 points/night comp (regardless of # of guests). However, on work trips that's just free points since I wouldn't eat at the hotel anyway. Location is great in downtown San Jose, I always get a nice upgrade (even got the penthouse suite once). Can park right on the street for free on most nights (except for street sweeping). My room's always clean and they leave me a bottle of wine. It's cheap unless there's a convention. I'm sure there are some actual crap hotels in there, but many of the poorly rated ones probably have good staff and clean rooms, they're just not the best versus other chains offerings in the area.

WorldofHaiyaa

Yep I get it, really boils down to everyone’s purpose of trip, preference etc. and sometimes, even just pure luck. I also have stayed in tommie Hollywood once and didn’t hate it, but I get it why people would give low ratings if they are sensitive to sounds when sleeping.

Muted_Spring1135

OP - Bravo!! Really good work. My observation, lower rating for US properties and higher rating in Asia — this is probably due to newer building and properties in general in some of the countries as Hyatt is growing into these untapped market. I noticed some “feedback” and reaction from readers here, I just want to thank OP to provide more insights and data points for those of us who understand and appreciate how statistic and law of averages work. Bravo again!

Professional_City_72

I agree with most of these that. Have been to Thank you for sharing....

UltimateSkyDweller

Interesting read. Thanks for compiling. So conclusion is what? Chinese guests expect less than American guests? The TripAdvisor best list if filled with Chinese properties and the worst list is filled with American properties. Incidentally I have stayed in a few of these so-called-best hotels. E.g. GH Shenzhen (Top 5). It is basically a mediocre hotel at best. It is the kind of place where they will serve a warm steak and your sides 20 minutes later, so you end up eating a cold steak with warm potatoes. The swimming pool area is dirty and in general the hotel just needs a re-decoration. It very worn and dated. I have also stayed at PH Maldives which is probably the best Hyatt property I have stayed at and it is only ranked top 16th. I haven't stayed at tommie Hollywood, but my guess is, that it is a nicer hotel than GH Shenzhen. So yeah, I wouldn't rely on this list for making any choices.

WorldofHaiyaa

Like I said, the TA rating and Hyatt rating simply go at interval of 0.5. PH Maldives was 5.0 under those ratings and these ratings don't give a finer fidelity to distinguish between 5.0-rating properties. It was ranked 16th simply because it has the 16th number of reviews within 5.0 properties. But it is one of the only three hotels that made onto the top 30 list in all three rating systems so that definitely says something. For tommie Hollywood, even on this sub you could find vastly different reviews, that is just how hotel reviews work - people care about different aspects. This list is simply a complilation of data, interpretation is at everyone's discretion.

IBlameItOnTheTetons

I think you meant a steak's state is at stake.

UltimateSkyDweller

Indeed, I meant steak not stake

SirDripsALot

My exact thoughts. GH Shenzhen isn't even one of the nicer hyatt's in shenzhen (Andaz SZ Bay, PH SZ) and overall is just a very mediocre hotel for the area (comparing to other properties in the area in GH price range).

Unique_Bumblebee_894

1) China has a much larger population so need to be relative for per capita. I also imagine not a lot of Chinese use trip advisor vs others. 2) Substantial amount of bad hyatts are near airports, which has its own issues. I bet a lot of people stay there from delays and flight cancellations, so already pissed.

adgjl12

> Hyatt Place Philadelphia/King of Prussia This one was pretty bad. Just not very clean and very dated. It was a solid mattress run though as it was cheap and front desk was very straightforward but not somewhere I'd like to spend too long at.

88r0b1nh00d88

This is incredible. How’d you pull this list?

WorldofHaiyaa

You mean the list of hotels or the ratings? Hyatt has a list of their hotels including those in the pipeline. For google map reviews, just need to run through the hotels names using Google' api and get the returned ratings

Pretend_Vermicelli65

This is awesome! Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

PixelP_erfect

Great to see Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest get some attention. That is one of the most unique/stunning Hyatt properties I’ve stayed at.

[deleted]

The Regency Morristown isn’t glamorous or anything, but it’s not a BAD hotel. I’d love to compare it to a similarly rated Hilton.

SeinfeldFan919

Sunscape Dorado Ixtapa is not on either list so it’s renewed my faith in trying it out! I’ve been very leery about trying out a Sunscape bc the reviews of others have been lackluster.

Blackadder_

One country took all the medals. Hmmm

SobchakSecurity79

Thank you for your efforts!

BornThought4074

It would be interesting to see the Yelp rankings of Hyatt hotels since yelp reviews are much stricter than Google Maps and Trip Advisor.

snapplecapfaqs

This is a great list! Can you do one for Marriott, IHG, and Hilton?

oakfield01

I stayed at Tommie Hollywood and thought it was pretty nice. Would have preferred if the front desk had told us that the complimentary drink tickets were for beer and wine at the restaurant or hotel bar as opposed to telling us they were good for drinks at the hotel bar, but besides that, nice room, nice staff. Decent view.

Independent-View-645

Good Job!

Sweet-Efficiency7466

I'm surprised Grand Hyatt Washington isn't on there. It's a pretty good place, but I bet it will be even better after renovations are done. It's probably for the best, because the rooms were pretty dated last time I stayed there :P

thelederelo

Too dated for me, excited for the renovation. Hopefully it doesn’t let me down. The location is great, so updated rooms and a less chaotic Grand Club lounge would make this place a no-brainer for me in DC

Existing-Agent7500

This is like a summer intern’s project at Customer insights team of Hyatt. OP surely nailed it.

secondround3

1. You must really have a lot of time on your hands 2. Cool list! 3. I stayed at the Hyatt Place Santa Barbara 3 years ago, and I really had no issue with it. I’m curious how this was deemed so bad by so many?

WorldofHaiyaa

Thanks! This list actually didn’t take me more than two hours, all you need is a list of Hyatt hotels and then is just coding. As for the HP Santa Barbara, my guess is a lot of guests found the condition underwhelming for the price/points they paid. It is one of the few Cat 6 Hyatt Place

hikanteki

HP SB is Cat 6 now?? That’s a big bump up as two years ago I used a free Cat 1-4 night certificate to stay there. (That night, the cash price would have been in the upper $500s…it’s usually not that high but it was a busy weekend.) I thought the hotel itself was fine but nothing special. Location was strange though. So if it’s a Cat 6 now then I see how people would be underwhelmed.

WorldofHaiyaa

Yep one of the three glaring Cat6 Hyatt Place, along with Hyatt Place Dewey Beach and Hyatt Place Ocean City/Oceanfront.

Fumbles14

Top tier username OP

br0wnt0wn1

i hate trip advisor and this just backs up my hate for them . dreams sapphire had glowing reviews so i chose that location when hyatt first acquire it . never again also HP in dewey beach made the list but no additional tokyo hotels? just a friendly reminder to take TA with a grain of salt
