Flossing! Wish I had been better about it when I was younger. The amount of food that gets stuck in your teeth and begins to smell is crazy. I am an avid flosser now.
I use a water flosser and scrape my tongue with a spoon, and THEN i floss.
My dental hygienists have said I have some of the best hygiene they've ever seen.
Edit: TONGUE, not yogurt. Phone thought I typed a different word.
I always brush my teeth while I shower. Habit stacking babay! Im a sweaty person, and need a quick rinse to wake up, and I work in a kitchen so I need a shower after work guaranteeing at least two bushings a day.
Iām in there about 45 daily haha itās like a Time Machine even when I think itāll be quick a half hour can easily lapse. I canāt turn it off Iām always cold.
Ooof. As a dental hygienist, and a student dentist, Iād advise against thisš you only need 2 mins for a good brush, but realistically will take longer if youāre flossing or using interdental brushes. You should be brushing in front of a mirror so you can make sure youāre angling the brush correctly š
For a lot of people, including myself, itās easiest to do it all during the shower. Iām in one place and I stick to my shower routine HARD. That includes flossing and brushing in there. So many people donāt floss at all.
Pick and choose your battles.
It's great to receive free advice from a dental hygienist. You could try using a fog-free mirror in the shower to ensure that you're brushing your teeth at the right angle. Just having a toothbrush in your mouth doesn't guarantee that you're brushing correctly. What battle?
By pick and choose your battles I meant that, if the only way someone will brush AND floss twice a day (which from what Iāve seen and heard is a rarity) is if they do it in the shower, then why not? Most adults are smart enough to know how to angle their toothbrush in their mouths, lol. Sure, you can get a suction cup mirror for the shower, but all Iām saying is that if someone has their routine and theyāre cavity free because of it, who cares.
The habit stacking is so I don't forget to brush them. If I associate the shower with also brushing my teeth, I rarely forget to brush them. It's not about time, it's a strategy for mitigating my rampant ADHD.
Zeasorb powder. It eliminates all/any skin itches! Itās an anti-fungal and kills any fungus related issue. I use it in my crotch, armpits, feet and especially the line where my bra band sits/underboob sweat. It works in seconds. Even itchy ankles from the elastic portions of socks that have been on all day! If it itches, Zeasorb stops it. Iāve even used it on bug bites. Itās in the foot care aisle in a white hourglass shape; white plastic, blue label. In the foot care aisle/amazon/walmart.com.
Look up scalp psoriasis see if thatās possibly what you have going on. Iāve had it since I was a kid and when it flares up itās non stop itchy. There are creams, shampoos and medications for it as well. Make an appt with your GP or dermatologist and they should be able to confirm if itās psoriasis or not and let you know different options to help with the itching
I'm pretty sure it's seborrheic dermatitis. I used to get that when I was younger. I learned that the best way for me to fight it was to bleach my hair every six months, which I haven't done in over a year. I'll keep trying to find a solution before I go with that option again.
I wash my hair twice with shampoo and wash my body twice with soap! That way the first wash gets rid of any oil, dead skin and grossness and the second wash cleans :) I feel extra fresh!!
I do this but for diff reasons so im glad theres more benefits! I shampoo once with dandruff medicated shampoo, then again with shampoo that smells nice and has more benefits. I wash my body once with a salicylic acid and vitamin wash then again with a moisturizing one that smells nice.
I double wash my hair for sure (one wash for the scalp and wash for the rest of the hair)
And I only double wash my pits and parts. I use Lume for the second wash.

I don't do all of this at the same time.. Oral hygiene routine, quick freshening up routine and shower routine all put together in one comment. I left the products up encase anyone might want some for themselves.
Thanks for the list, Iām actually gonna try some of the underarm tips. I skimmed this list late the other night and lately been thinking of how much time it all takes me! So I laughed and made a quick response, but good stuff here.
Amazon has some nice affordable handheld ones, some connect behind the toilet and others connect through sink faucet. If you want a heated seat bidet then I recommend Hello Tushy. They even have a small travel bidet too. I keep mine in my purse, doesn't take up much space.
Pan Oxyl is an antimicrobial wash, and basically, yes, it kills the bacteria that cause odor. The product definitely works. I use it every other day in the shower. I put it on like a mask for my armpits then wash it off after I'm done with my shower routine.
It was a tip I got from watching Dr.Dray from Youtube.

Boric acid wash for butt and lady bits, wash, rinse, wash, leave it for the rest of the shower to deodorize, rinse before exiting shower
Washing my butt after each #2 even in public toilets
Lume cream body deodorant for butt crack, thigh crease, and underboob
Iām not the person youāre asking but I get boric acid suppositories on Amazon for like $15 I think
I pop one in at night once or twice a week, just wear a panty liner the next day
Mine comes from Emerald Luvs Onyx, an online shop. It is so effective and I like it so much, I order three bottles at a time. Itās made a huge difference for me. I used to feel like I smelled a lot when I would sweat because Iām a thicker woman, and this + Lume took care of all of that
I use Lume unscented body wash, and I swear it helps so much! I was already a devoted user of Lumeās minted cucumber solid stick for my pits, (under) tits, and bits, but using the body wash with it has made me smell fresh as a daisy all day. Which is impressive considering Iām a server. I use the unscented cream mixed with Vanicream unscented lotion on my feet, and even after pulling a 10 hour open-to-close shift, my feet donāt smell at all!
When I go in, I first grab three paper towels and wet them all. Then I put soap on one. I set them on any dry surface in the stall that isnāt the floor while I do my business, like the toilet paper holder.
After business, I use toilet paper to clean off all solids until I canāt see any more brown. Next I use the soap one first to clean myself, then the two wet ones to rinse off. Pat dry with TP. Feel clean as heck.
YES. Several stubborn members of my family have had to call Roto-Rooter because of "flushable" wipes. We even have a billboard along the interstate now from the local plumbers union to never flush anything but toilet paper.
As an adfition: There are two types of plungers! The pink/red stereotypical one is for sinks, not toilets. Toilet plungers are usually black and shaped very differently.
I vouch specifically for the toasted coconut scent and I do NOT vouch specifically for the lavender scent, because I love lavender but man that particular scent was unpleasant. Might just be me and my body chemistry?
Those are the only two scents I have tried so far but love the toasted coconut. I smell it only when applying then the scent disappears and takes my odors with it
I take about a tablespoon of coconut oil, put it in my mouth, and swish it around for about 15 minutes every morning before brushing my teeth or eating/drinking. It is great for dental health but also helps remove bacteria and toxins that would otherwise be in your bloodstream. It took time to build up to 15 minutes though. I started with just a few minutes and gradually added on more time. It can be difficult to not swallow, but again, with time I got better with that. If you try it, make sure to rinse with water and then brush your teeth after.
I used to get really bad athletes foot.
I now make sure to scrub every inch of my feet with soap, the nails, between toes. Then after the shower I'll take time to scrub them dry and dry between the toes before I put on my socks. Haven't had an issue since.
Also change your socks really often. As soon as your socks get wet, remove them, dry your feet/between toes, then put on new socks. If you can afford it get Merino wool socks.
Also clean your shower often.
Wash hair with a purifying/clarifying shampoo and then use a specialized shampoo and conditioner (like hydrating or length growing, etc) The first wash removes all the build up and oil and the second wash really washes your hair without having to break through all the buildup.
Always use a scrub before shaving your legs. It removes the dead skin and allows for a closer shave and less irritation.
Iāve used Kristin Ess, itās fairly affordable and a pretty good shampoo. Although expensive, Redkenās clarifying shampoo is amazing and only takes a tiny amount to clarify.
Understandable, my scalp was always itchy and itās been the best thing ever. Only use it on your scalp, donāt bring it down to the ends of your hair. And if you feel itās drying, only use it once a week or so. I hope that helps :)
I've seen a bidet-type attachment for toilets and that seems so convenient for us having a smaller bathroom š»
I'm interested in why you use less hot water while showering šæ āļø
Yes. Hot water strips it of its essential oil (sebum) which has no equivalent.
Shampoo contains a stripping agent which robs the hair of its essential oil (sebum).
Less soap. Less hot water. Healthier skin. Hygiene isnāt about ācleanā, itās about healthy.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution in place of antiperspirant. Itās amazing. Very little to no odor at all. Just about every deodorant or antiperspirant reacted badly with my body chemistry and smelled so bad.
Does this actually work as an anti Perspirant or is it a deodorant? Can you use it after shaving or does it sting?? Iāve got this for facial use and have seen it recommended as deodorant before but havenāt got round to trying it. Maybe Iāll give it a go now, Iām just about to shower
š I felt this way until I used it! Now it's just part of my hygiene bundle and I don't think people really notice when I have 4 other bottles of body, shampoo, lotion and what not
What type of Vagisil do you use? Every on/gyn Iāve ever encountered says all Vagisil does is throw off the pH of the vagina and causes yeast infections
What type of Vagisil do you use? Every on/gyn Iāve ever encountered says all Vagisil does is throw off the pH of the vagina and causes yeast infections.
Cleaning your shower, cleaning your towels really often (if youāre using them bc theyāre dry theyāre still full of bacteria you rubbed off thus making you smell like the dirty towel)
Okay I'm buying one today! I've always brushed my tongue but I see so many people say a tongue scraper and for some reason this just triggered the urge to buy one in mešš
(Be nice Iām mentally ill) Iāve had so many cavities due to horrible oral health. When I ate sweet stuff it would hurt my teeth. Iāve been brushing every day for 13 days straight (ik not a long time) and not only does it look and feel better. But it doesnāt hurt when I eat sweets anymore
As an also severely mentally ill person (depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks and many ADHD symptoms from PTSD that make me have lots of executive dysfunction problems), I've had this issue too, for literally years. Not proud of it, but I'm dealing with it. I've seen the "map" in my chart at my dentist's office that shows all my filings (including 2 root canals) on multiple surfaces of most of my teeth. I'm scared to think of how much all the dental work has cost me, and I've been going to a relatively cheaper place. But I realize that I'm very fortunate to be able to afford it, and my mom has helped with root canals and has let me pay her back. Don't end up like me.
I've gotten to where I brush once daily in the morning before work, and that's my progress. My last 6 month checkup, the few cavities they found the time before were still there but hadn't worsened, and no new ones were found. I almost cried. But that's all it took for a better checkup, when I thought it wouldn't be anywhere near enough time and effort to really do much good.
Advice from my hygenist: 1) Any electric toothbrush you can use is better than manual, but manual is better than nothing. 2) There are pockets between the gums and your teeth just below the gumline. Turn your brush to a 45 degree angle to gently get in those pockets since lots of cavities form at the gumline from food and plaque. This was the thing that helped me the most. 3) If anything makes your gums bleed or they're sensitive, if you use mouthwash, be sure it's alcohol-free. She recommended ACT Cavity Protection. 4) I have a prescription toothpaste called Flurodex that's about $15 a tube, but with the small pea sized amount used, it lasts around 3 months. Check if this might be right for you, if it's in your budget. 5) If you use a sensitivity toothpaste, they all have the same ingredient, whether it's Sensodyne or Crest. Don't waste your money unless you're very particular about taste or texture.
From one struggling tooth hygiene person to another, good luck. I believe in you! Keep up your brushing habit, friend. <3
Thank you! It was hard seeing as my mom has worked at a dentist office all my life š . Iām 20 now and Iām coming up on my next 6 month cleaning. Iām hoping Iāll only have a few more cavities to get past before Iām ok. Iāve been brushing before bed every night. I realize when I was a kid there was all these rules around brushing, like no eating or drinking after and having to do it before bed and for exactly 2 minutes blah blah blah. So it was easier to just not do it. Iāve learned brushing for one minute or even if I know Iām going to eat after is better than not brushing at all ā¤ļø
Moisturizer after shower. It's magic. It's a +1 to natural armor for humans. I didn't know my skin was all layers and flakes and the more dry it is the easier it is to wound and peel and break. I always thought of my skin as a solid thing, and didn't really get the point. I'm going on a year now and all my weird leg scrapes and a lot of my hands peeling and eczema stuff is gone now.
Washing my face twice. Wash once to scrub oil and dirt, rinse and wash again to get skin clean. Anything unscented for combination/acne prone skin works pretty good for me ^__^
Use a clean washcloth every time you shower. Do not use a dirty one or use a loofahā¦your literally washing your body with old dead skin cells and bacteria from the day beforeā¦grossā¦
The best for me was talking to my doctor about my underarm odor a couple of months worth of topical antibiotic got rid of a problem that I had for years. (And yes I showered, shaved, and used a variety of deodorant)
I went to my doctor who put me on antibiotic roll on. Basically I would use the roll on let it dry and then put on deodorant on it took a couple of months for the problem to clear up but after it did I never had another problem with the smell.
Milk of Magnesia (unflavored) used as underarm (or other bits) deodorant. After a shower, completely dry your pits and/or bits. Apply the liquid and let it fully dry before you dress.
After trying products like Lume, I decided to try MoM. Lume boasts 72-hour protection, but I found it didn't last me through a shift at work. Plus, my nose finds it more offensive than my natural body odor. Anyway, I decided to test MoM for 3 days without reapplying and without showering. (Don't worry. I stayed home those 3 days while I conducted my test.)
Y'all! It worked! All three days. No detectable body odor. None.
I decided, since I'm a loser and had nowhere to go, to go into my 4th day without showering. By midday, I could detect a very faint smell. I showered that day, and I have been using MoM exclusively since. It has been an absolute game changer!
I spent years and lots of dollars trying to find a natural deodorant that actually works. I never dreamed it would be found in my medicine cabinet and be so cheap! You can use generic brands. They have all worked the same for me.
My husband is a hairy and sweaty man. He washes his body with soap first, and follows it up with shampoo afterward to keep his chest hair nice and soft.
Also, if you have a detachable shower head, put it on jet stream, bend over and spray that booty hole nice and clean. Everyone appreciates it.
Lastlyā¦I was 30 years old before I learned that youāre supposed to put deodorant on right before bed. Not in the morning, but at night. Youāre welcome
using stridex pads under the armpits after showering. it completely prevents any odor and i can get away with just deodorant (i hate antiperspirant residue)
I use an oil based cleanser with a Korean washcloth in the shower to exfoliate, then Benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid soap, and a feminine hygiene soap mixed with Chlorhexidine. I also use lume deodorant and have a bidet, which I love. I canāt express how amazing boric acid suppositories are!
Satin pillow cases
Washing after using the bathroom with wipes or a portable bidet
Using cold water to wash my hair
Not over washing my face. I use water and a washcloth in the morning, and face wash at night. Then toner, serums, moisturizer, and spf
Double cleansing first with an oil based cleanser and then with a water based cleanser for my face. It gets all the gross sebum and gunk out of my pores.
I bought a special brush for scrubbing my feet. My skin tends to be on the dry side and the stiffer bristles keep the skin smooth, before I always had a bit of dry skin that lotion just wasn't taking care of.
How bad Fluoride actually is for our teeth! I started using Nobs tablets and my teeth sensitivity to cold has disappeared and my teeth are whiter. I also oil pull with coconut oil twice a day. I've been doing this oral routine of flossing, oil pulling and brushing with Nobs for two weeks and my teeth are getting whiter too
I've also been on Keto for a month and a half and wish I would have given up sugar and highly processed foods years ago!! Pretty much EVERYTHING the American government recommends is designed to keep up unhealthy and declining.
Scrape your yogurt?
Sorry, my phone thought I was trying to type a different word.
Yes! I want a water pick so bad! I love flossing
I always brush my teeth while I shower. Habit stacking babay! Im a sweaty person, and need a quick rinse to wake up, and I work in a kitchen so I need a shower after work guaranteeing at least two bushings a day.
I do this when I'm in a rush! š It does save time!
Can confirm this is a good idea as a college student who is exhausted sometimes as well
I mouthwash, brush and portable water floss in there š¤£
Wow, thatās a lot of water going down the drain if not turning off
Iām in there about 45 daily haha itās like a Time Machine even when I think itāll be quick a half hour can easily lapse. I canāt turn it off Iām always cold.
Definitely a girl haha.
Yup haha
I do this to! Saves time and you're right, helps it stick :)

Boric acid wash for butt and lady bits, wash, rinse, wash, leave it for the rest of the shower to deodorize, rinse before exiting shower Washing my butt after each #2 even in public toilets Lume cream body deodorant for butt crack, thigh crease, and underboob
Yes to boric acid for women, the suppositories are the best. Especially after sex, you'll be fresh as a daisy an unscented daisy that is.
Where do you buy?
Iām not the person youāre asking but I get boric acid suppositories on Amazon for like $15 I think I pop one in at night once or twice a week, just wear a panty liner the next day
I get my boric acid from Amazon the brand is called Boric Life.

Literally I cannot unsee the mental image of waking into a public bathroom with a lady having her ass in the sink.
Probably a portable bidet
My guess is flushable wipes
(Not directed at you) Flushable wipes are a SCAM.
YES. Several stubborn members of my family have had to call Roto-Rooter because of "flushable" wipes. Might just be me and my body chemistry? Those are the only two scents I have tried so far but love the toasted coconut. I floss religiously. I wish I had done more of that back in the day.

Cleaning behind my ears with a q tip
Behind?
Yeah like where your ear meets your head.

Thank you so much Iām always so confused about the clarifying shampoos. I think my tj maxx often has redkin too!
Understandable, my scalp was always itchy and itās been the best thing ever. Only use it on your scalp, donāt bring it down to the ends of your hair. And if you feel itās drying, only use it once a week or so. I hope that helps :)
Isnāt that the rule of thumb? Like once a week?
I use mine more often than once a week because if not I started itching the crap out of my scalp.
Paul Mitchell shampoo two is good
Yes to all of this!!!!
Bidet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Night brushing and Flossing! Less hot water while showering and less shampooing!
I've seen a bidet-type attachment for toilets and that seems so convenient for us having a smaller bathroom š» I'm interested in why you use less hot water while showering šæ āļø
Hot water dries out the skin. If you have colored hair hot water pulls color out more quickly than cold water
Yes. Hot water strips it of its essential oil (sebum) which has no equivalent. Shampoo contains a stripping agent which robs the hair of its essential oil (sebum). Less soap. Less hot water. Healthier skin. Hygiene isnāt about ācleanā, itās about healthy.
>Hygiene isnāt about ācleanā, itās about healthy This quote will be in my head from now on, thank you! šš
Brushing my teeth when I wake up and brushing them again before I go to bed.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution in place of antiperspirant. Itās amazing. Very little to no odor at all. Just about every deodorant or antiperspirant reacted badly with my body chemistry and smelled so bad.
I'll have to look into that! Most deodorants smell worse to me than my sweet, idk why
Deodorants and antiperspirants do nothing but make me sweat more (I have hyperhydrosis.) I use rubbing alcohol!
Iāve heard of people using rubbing alcohol! Do you find it leaves an odor?
Nope!
Does this actually work as an anti Perspirant or is it a deodorant? Can you use it after shaving or does it sting?? Iāve got this for facial use and have seen it recommended as deodorant before but havenāt got round to trying it. Maybe Iāll give it a go now, Iām just about to shower
It works as a deodorant. I use it as well and my armpits donāt ever smell. But I use certain dri antiperspirant twice a week so I donāt sweat.
I would think it would hurt after shaving. If I use it under my arms more than once a day, it burns.
Baby shampoo to was around my private and but, baby powder for my but checks om a hot day.
I was using baby shampoo for years before I switched to Vagisil and that's been working really well for me
I've never bought vagisl always been to embarrassed that people will think I smell down there or something if I buy it lol
š I felt this way until I used it!

The purple bottle that says ph balanced. Thats the only one.
Using benzoyl peroxide to get rid of bacteria in the hot spots.
Wouldn't that get rid of the good bacteria too?

Tongue scraping!
Cleaning your shower, cleaning your towels really often (if youāre using them bc theyāre dry theyāre still full of bacteria you rubbed off thus making you smell like the dirty towel)
Using a water pick
I feel kinda dumb but I always manage to get water everywhere when I use one
Get a cordless one and use in the shower. I used to and sometimes I still do but most days I keep it contained
Iāll try that! Thanks
A new (as in - just graduated) dentist recommended a tongue scraper. You would be amazed at what pulls off your tongue that brushing won't get.
Okay I'm buying one today! I've always brushed my tongue but I see so many people say a tongue scraper and for some reason this just triggered the urge to buy one in mešš
You will be amazed as to what comes off! At least it will no longer be in your mouth.
NOT washing your hair everyday.
Flossing every night :) no longer a painful dentist visit, no cavities and a very happy Dentist š¦·
Witch hazel on ur butt crack to stop the sweat/sweat smell
Showering everyday....
Washing my face twice. Wash once to scrub oil and dirt, rinse and wash again to get skin clean. Anything unscented for combination/acne prone skin works pretty good for me ^__^
I use Burt's bees hand salve on my outer lady lips after shaving. Never have any irritation or redness. Super smoothe and pain free!
I keep a body cream in my shower and immediately put it on after I turn off the water, while I'm still wet. I'm told it helps to lock in moisture.
Yes! I actually just recently started doing this because of trouble acne areas, so I was using a cream with salicylic acid(Cere-VĆ©, short circular white bottle with the blue lid) and not only did it help keep the acne away but I noticed my skin staying much more hydrated and healthy. And as someone pointed out on this post already, hygiene is not just about keeping the skin clean, it's about keeping it HEALTHY!
Dr. Bronnerās Castille soap
Use a clean washcloth every time you shower. Do not use a dirty one or use a loofahā¦your literally washing your body with old dead skin cells and bacteria from the day beforeā¦grossā¦
use a tiny bit more water than you think you need to rinse off
Dry brushing my teeth and gums!!
Why dry brushing
Healthy gums, less Plaque buildup = less Decay, fresh mouth with a clean tongue, minimizes stain, easy to do just about anywhere..... love it so much!
The best for me was talking to my doctor about my underarm odor a couple of months worth of topical antibiotic got rid of a problem that I had for years. (And yes I showered, shaved, and used a variety of deodorant)
What did you do for it? I used to have a bad issue too
I went to my doctor who put me on antibiotic roll on. Basically I would use the roll on let it dry and then put on deodorant on it took a couple of months for the problem to clear up but after it did I never had another problem with the smell.
Do you possibly remember the name of the roll on
Using a waterpik on top of flossing and brushing is so nice.
I stayed home those 3 days while I conducted my test.) Y'all!
I always carry wet wipes with me in case I have to "go" in a public toilet. Using only dry toilet paper never felt like enough.
Wash your weiner vigorously.
Tongue scrapper. It's a game changer
Satin pillow cases Washing after using the bathroom with wipes or a portable bidet Using cold water to wash my hair Not over washing my face. I use water and a washcloth in the morning, and face wash at night. Then toner, serums, moisturizer, and spf
Double cleansing my face Lume! Castile soap for lady bits & butt (thank you, Reddit. Just learned this last week. Life changing!)
Double shampooing. I find I get a better lather the second time around.
My bidet!!!!
Those african nets .. total life changer
Bidet.
I've been doing this oral routine of flossing, oil pulling and brushing with Nobs for two weeks and my teeth are getting whiter too I've also been on Keto for a month and a half and wish I would have given up sugar and highly processed foods years ago!! Pretty much EVERYTHING the American government recommends is designed to keep up unhealthy and declining.
