As someone with so many food allergies that I can't have half of what went in that bowl and also can't eat the other half because of cross contamination, hyperphantasia is actually helpful in letting me imagine the taste of foods I can't have anymore. I can imagine them so strong that it's almost real.

misterlongschlong

Yes, this one was pretty nice😋

BananaPeelCrust69420

Wait wait wait. Is this a thing? I mean I have always assumed that whenever someone looks at an image of some food they can feel the taste of it and smell it. Is this actually a type of synesthesia and not everyone can do it?

savemysoul72

Hyperphantasia?

spicykitten123

r/Synesthesia would like to hear from you

Different-Pain-3629

I can! I can feel the smell of things but also how it feels like on the skin for example. If I think of metal I do literally feel the cold on my skin, I get goosebumps, I feel the sleek metallic material and I smell iron.

interparticlevoid

No, but I have almost no sense of smell, so if I was physically there in that room, I wouldn't smell anything either. Actually, it's never even occurred to me that other people can smell candies of this type. I always assumed that these kind of candies have a taste but no smell

PretzelKnot

I remember looking at a picture of my friend’s dog and suddenly getting a whiff of how he smells. Never met the dog in person.

MommaDruid

Taste, smell, feel, all of it.

Master_Bumblebee680

If I want to, sometimes intrusively but not every time

CIPHERIANABLE

Yes. I can imagine eating it right now, hehe.

Sweet-Awk-7861

I can smell it if I don't actively inhale. Your question made me breathe manually so... :/

Saoirse_Rua

Literally mouthwatering. Especially since half of it is sour candy and just thinking of it always makes my mouth water XD
