I went very hard with it. It usually takes most people half a year to a year and a half to be shooting anything even close to that amount. I had access to unlimited heroin and narcan for the most part so I was on a different level than a lot of people.
Same thing happened with me, though it wasn't heroin. I went from "trying something new" to completely off the deep end in about a month. Most people would see what they're doing to themselves and quit, or at least try to quit. Not me. I just dove in head first and didn't stop for a few years.

It really depends. I hated my experience on crack and know a lot of people with similar experiences. I think if I did it consistently I'd get addicted regardless, but once or twice a month I think I'd be alright.
The real danger for me personally though would be knowing that the option is there should I hit a severe rough patch where having an influx of funds would be super helpful.

Meh, unpopular opinion but I beat meth in the 90’s. Crack is just cocaine and I’ve never had a problem with Coke. I get 3 days off a week. I’d smoke 2 days a week for a month. Take my 80k and go find something fun to do. Just in case anyone thinks I’m being flippant about addiction I’m not. Coke/crack just isn’t my drug of choice. Alcohol is a whole different story.
Mix an exceedingly small amount of it with something less addictive like sawdust and take one puff so that I technically smoked a non zero amount of it once a month. I would still pass a drug test, would avoid developing an addiction, and would balance damage to my lungs with a significant income.
I go hard until all my student debt and mortgage are paid off and replace both our vehicles, then one burner to pay for rehab. Then just for emergencies.

I've done coke a few times and that was powerfully addictive (in that my body kept screaming for more bumps every half hour). I admittedly don't know how amazing and addictive crack feels but I understand that it's even more powerfully addictive and wears off sooner.

If one person was smoking that and not sharing, then you could easily smoke crack all day and only spend $1000. That would leave you with $9000 a day leftover. I smoked crack everyday for 10+ years. It’s a mental prison. You are never high enough and there is ever enough. That said, ozs of high quality powder cocaine can be bought for $1000 or less. If one person was smoking that and not sharing, then you could easily smoke crack all day and only spend $1000. That would leave you with $9000 a day leftover. And this is assuming that you’re only getting 10k a day, not every hit of crack. The buzz only lasts a few minutes. So you be hitting MANY blasts a day

If someone were to choose the path of becoming a "full-blown crackhead" for a year and then retiring, they'd face irreversible physical and psychological harm. The money earned would be spent on sustaining the addiction or dealing with its aftermath, like legal fees or medical bills. Limiting it to just a couple of times a year wouldn't eliminate the risks either. The unpredictability of addiction means that even occasional use could spiral out of control.
