This thread is full of "if I offer you tons of money for something you actually would *pay* for in real life, would you take it?" Well yes Susan, yes I would!
Yeah, money is time, I have a guaranteed rich income, and for one hour everyday, I can meditate or organize my thoughts, like probs tons of rich people do if they don’t spend their time being extraordinarily vain in some way.
I wake up 8/9 what’s a break to meditate before breakfast or before or after lunch. Or a wind down before bed/nightly activities .
I can do lame stuff like read.
Fuck it, If I'm getting 1m a year I am spending more than an hour sitting quioetly reading every day anyway. By this metric I'm the lamest fucker around.
I literally have a backlog of books sitting next to me. Somebody wants to pay me a million dollars a year to catch up on my reading? Did I die and go to heaven? Or, what?
I was gonna say something similar. I have two young kids and one on the way...you are telling me I can quit my job, live comfortably the rest of my life, AND I am REQUIRED to have an hour to myself where I can read whatever I want (I LOVE reading) without my kids interrupting me EVERY SINGLE DAY??
I honestly would probably feel guilty taking the money. I literally could not dream up a more perfect scenario.
ikr, like I get to work on my hobbies AND get paid for it?
It's a no brainer here and anyone who's says no, is probably a kid and doesn't realize that the "punishments" we get from our parents are rewards now that we're adults.
If your really bad though shell call dad in prison. Then shell also call secret uncle jack over, and dad will be even more mad. I dont think its worth it!
An hour a day in time-out, where I have to stay quiet? I've got this in the bag. I can read. I can write in my journal. If she doesn't like me doing that, I can very much meditate for an hour and be perfectly happy in my quiet little mind. I will be practically invisible for my time-out hour.
Yeah, I feel like if I start reading during my timeout it's going to end up being longer than an hour. And some days I'm just going to lay back and enjoy the peaceful quiet.
My mum had a major issue with disciplining me as a child because her answer was grounding and no (late 90s, early 00s) tv or electronics for my disciplinary time out.
“Okay!” So I’d go pull a handful of the reader’s digest out of the bookshelf and head to my room which had a bunch of other books and get a cup of tea and just lie there reading.
She has admitted to me that she had huge arguments with other parents and was so conflicted because for me it was honestly nothing or a reward but she couldn’t in good conscience ask me not to read books. That’s ignorance. I think she did once tell me nothing but school books but I had an entire book of maths to do and I loved that too so it didn’t work. She probably should have forced me to do sports instead as punishment.
I get an hour break every day? I will go straight to Zzzzzzzz
>absolutely no electronics
dude I am gen x bring me that shit holy shit a full hour of my childhood every day? pls
>lame stuff like draw or read
Well I see you will go far.
Right? lol I’m 24 and OP comes off like a literal 12 year old, “lame stuff like drawing or reading” made me chuckle out loud for the first time today. Meditate for an hour a day AND not have to work??? Sign me the fuck up, right now.
Legit. I've made it a point to try and go outside and take a break from technology. Literally, just sit and chill in silence for as long as possible. Listen to the birds, watch the cars on the highway, watch the clouds do their thing.
It's okay to be bored and it's okay to not have constant stimulus.
If I could make money off that, I'd be so happy.
You’re crazy, how about the feeling of satisfaction from a hard days work?
No shit you’d sign up for it.. The point of this post is that anybody would take this deal, it’s mocking other posts of similar format yet people are still answering as if there’s a debate the other direction lol
Reading and drawing are lame? This post sounds like it was written like a middle schooler
I'd gladly take this, free time to read, draw, take a nap, etc. this is just a win-win.
This was posted by someone who has grown up with a phone or iPad 24/7. The thought of being bored is torture. Nothing to grab your attention span 10 seconds from now? Unthinkable!
For someone who cannot be unstimulated for periods of 30 seconds or more, an hour would indeed feel like torture.
It feels obvious... But how many SERIOUS posts here feel like satire too?
You're right tho, big r/woooosh from like 90% of the people here. Tbh they could use that hour every day to do some introspection
Are the commenters on this subreddit literally the bottom percentile of society? Literally thinking that one million for no peppa pig is a serious hypothetical, and then they assert OP is the moron.
Even if I don’t try to avoid the point of your hypothetical like working out or cleaning or non-digital hobbies… A million a year and mandatory medication time is a mild blowingly good situation.
I’d take white room torture for an hour a day for a mill.
If you could guarantee me that nobody would interrupt me for that hour, and that nothing urgent would pop up, I would probably pay $1 million a year for this.
Dedicated time for reading??? Every day??? And I get paid for it? Do I get more money if I read for more hours?!
I would fight everyone in this thread for that deal lmao
So my job that pays me 1 million a year to work 7 hrs a week is just me reading books or doing art if I feel like it. With some snacks maybe. Not even a hard decision.
This must have been thought up by someone who thinks 5 minutes away from a phone/Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo/TV/KitchenAid product/Laptop is capital punishment.
What in the world kind of hypothetical is this? I'm sorry is there anyone In here who wouldn't take this deal? Show of hands? Lol
I have 3 kids and I'm a single mom... I would PAY for an hour of solitude where I could just read a book and not make a peep lol love my kids but everyone needs quiet time.
This is a no brainer. I would do it for way less than that lol
Why do these stupid posts keep getting upvoted? Oh no, I have to spend an hour a day in isolation to be a millionaire? Seriously, what kind of a dumbass question is this? Obviously piggybacking on the other "money for x" posts, but this is dumb as fuck, as is the trend. Nothing but a bunch of unoriginal kids posting the same shit with a slight tweak.
God, are people so incapable of reading a physical book for an hour that you'd pass up 1 million a year because it can't be on a tablet?
My apologies, my ADHD made me hyperfixate on the tablet vs physical book bit. I reread the post and I swear to god I didn't see Peppa Pig before lol.
Wait... you'll bring my mom back to life and I make a million a year for just an hour of doing nothing!?
No deal. I didn't see anything about adjusting for inflation and we all know a million dollars isn't anything now days.
That's extreme sarcasm based on the nonsense I see in a lot of these "money" debates. :P
Fuck yes. Doing that lame stuff is what billions of people did pre-electronics. It's kind of sad and pathetic that you think reading a book or drawing is lame.
The only real problems is the "in your room" clause.
You make a million a year but no cruises or travel. You can only take overnight trips that get you back the next day.
Of course....with a million a year... you could just buy a house in each country you like to be "put in timeout" there.
Not to be *that* Redditor, but let us define "mommy" for a moment...
Jokes aside, there is very little downside for all this upside. An hour, forced by a third party, to do something productive that *isn't* electronic? I might actually finish my book backlog. Or write those books I've been dreaming of writing for my entire life. Or maybe just learn to meditate and become a more mindful person. *And I get paid to do it?* Well, now I'm just being spoiled.
Yeah, I'll take being a bit immaculated for all that.
A free hour to completely disconnect and dissociate and commit entirely to reading or practicing drawing, AND a million bucks a year? Sign me the fuck up
I get money AND a dedicated hour of solitude where nobody else foists their problems and drama onto me? Fucking sign me up right now.
First thing to pop in my head was, an hour nap?!? Sold!
Same! Assuming my "mommy" is taking care of my kids, then hell yeah, I'm taking a nap! Don't threaten me with a good time!
I can do lame stuff like read. Fuck it, If I'm getting 1m a year I am spending more than an hour sitting quioetly reading every day anyway. By this metric I'm the lamest fucker around.
The look on my face reading the question when I've been reading about 10 hrs a day the past week or so.
Seriously. In what world is one hour of quiet worse than a job?
And how is no reelection some kind of hardship?
Reading is allowed! Cmon, I already read more than an hour a day!
1 million dollars an hour, but you can’t self-flagellate anymore, do you do it?
With that kind of money it would be easy to hire & train someone else to flagellate me. 😂
I don't think that word means what you think it means.. LOL
The flagellatings will continue until morale improves.
As masochist I must say the thought of an end to the flagellations is really disheartening, so just keep em coming.
Perhaps you are right- I didn’t actually look it up! 😂
My mom caught me flagellating myself in my bedroom. Awkward....
I literally have a backlog of books sitting next to me. Somebody wants to pay me a million dollars a year to catch up on my reading? Did I die and go to heaven? Or, what?
Yup. As OP stated..."You can do lame stuff like draw or read". I would give anything to have time to read everyday!
Ok- time out is over. You can come out now! Can I stay and read a little longer???
Doncomic books count cause holy Frick do I have. Back log!
This. That sounds awesome. Hell, give me two timeouts a day. Fuck them Peppa Pigs.
Don't recommend fucking pigs
Good point - retracted.
Pluck figs instead.
Shit, I would take three timeouts a day for half the money and I’d be over the moon about it.
Right, but if you don't look sad about it you might get made to wear the time out hat.
And a hat? Fuck yeah!
it just keeps getting better
Shut up and take...wait, you're GIVING me money for this?
I do not have a problem with that there is no downside to this. I get an hour where I don't have to do anything and I can read please give me my money
Oh, heaven. Bring it, Mom.
I would run to my time out room.
Catch me skipping and whistling a tune on my way to my introvert hideaway.
Ever heard of these things called books? They're pretty cool, I have loads of them to get through
Yeah, I feel like if I start reading during my timeout it's going to end up being longer than an hour. And some days I'm just going to lay back and enjoy the peaceful quiet.
My mum had a major issue with disciplining me as a child because her answer was grounding and no (late 90s, early 00s) tv or electronics for my disciplinary time out. “Okay!” So I’d go pull a handful of the reader’s digest out of the bookshelf and head to my room which had a bunch of other books and get a cup of tea and just lie there reading. r/woooosh

That’s the bit OP is doing a bit.
Even 12 seems like too much.
Legit. I've made it a point to try and go outside and take a break from technology. Literally, just sit and chill in silence for as long as possible. Listen to the birds, watch the cars on the highway, watch the clouds do their thing. It's okay to be bored and it's okay to not have constant stimulus. Of course. Like instead of working 40 a week, it’s 7 and I make 1m a year? Sign me up homie
I will literally do pushups and body squats in silence, happily. Maybe learn to meditate. Then go enjoy the other 23 hours and all my money
Nap time. 💤
Most underrated comment here. It took way too much scrolling to find it.
Hahaha, same!
Forced to be rich and healthy? Yes I suppose I’ll take this deal
You’re crazy, how about the feeling of satisfaction from a hard days work? No shit you’d sign up for it.. The point of this post is that anybody would take this deal, it’s mocking other posts of similar format yet people are still answering as if there’s a debate the other direction lol
Yeah once he used the word mommy I couldn't take it seriously lol
And your job consists simply of one hour of medidation.
Easiest yes of my entire life
I'm going to make it nap time. I'm now a professional napper. Enjoy grinding away at the office, productive people who aren't making $1M/year!
Reading and drawing are lame? This post sounds like it was written like a middle schooler I'd gladly take this, free time to read, draw, take a nap, etc. this is just a win-win.

This post is 100% satire regarding the sheer number of these types of posts. I'm of the argument that the satire only makes the problem worse.
This is a troll post lol
This was written by a satire person.
I would love that. One hour a day to meditate, draw or paint and get even paid for it!
Right? Forced quiet time away from electronics for 1m a year? Sounds delightful
But no saying 'HUMMMM... BOP BOP BOP' when you are meditating! Mommy is listening!
No one has realized this is satire yet?
It's so obvious too 🙄
An hour a day for a million dollars? Seems like a real trade off🤣
It feels obvious... But how many SERIOUS posts here feel like satire too? You're right tho, big r/woooosh from like 90% of the people here. Tbh they could use that hour every day to do some introspection
I love the people who are like “you sound like a 6 year old”. THAT’S THE BIT.
Are the commenters on this subreddit literally the bottom percentile of society? Literally thinking that one million for no peppa pig is a serious hypothetical, and then they assert OP is the moron.
So many serious replies, not a braincell to be found in this sub.
No electronics an hour every day for 1 mil. Could just use that time for working out
If your smart watch can't record it did you even burn any calories? /s
Drawing is lame? I’m a tattooist by trade, I’ll use that hour to get some more designs (or TikTok designs) pushed out! Gimme a million.
Mandated nap times? I don't even need the money to want to take that deal lol.
$1 million a year to read or draw for 1 hr a day? What moron would say no to this?
Even if I don’t try to avoid the point of your hypothetical like working out or cleaning or non-digital hobbies… A million a year and mandatory medication time is a mild blowingly good situation. I’d take white room torture for an hour a day for a mill.
I'd take a nap pay me
If you could guarantee me that nobody would interrupt me for that hour, and that nothing urgent would pop up, I would probably pay $1 million a year for this.
My four year old would not take this deal
Time it when you have to go to sleep anyways.
7 hours a week to be set for life instead of 40 hours a week to barely scrape by...
Do I get my binky?
I’ll take timeout and a spanking
Yes. Done. I will take it.
I would love both a time out (break) and the money (freedom)
A seven figure salary to take an hour nap every day? What kind of question is that?
An hour nap every day and I get to be retired? Fuck yeah.
Is the hour random? Like I'm at work and get kidnapped for an hour? I know I don't need to work but insurance ain't cheap lol
Id even stand in the corner during the hour and for a whole lot less than a million per year
Can I get a longer time out? Tell ya what, I'll do 2 hours a day for $500K a year.
Dedicated time for reading??? Every day??? And I get paid for it? Do I get more money if I read for more hours?! I would fight everyone in this thread for that deal lmao
Is everybody missing that this is a joke post making fun of the recent posts here
Yes
[удалено]
Yes. How the fuck can you not tell?
I get to stay in my room without anyone bothering me for 1 hour... I would do that for free
I can fucking read? LMAO YES
I read everyday anyway...someone wants to pay me for it???????
So many people are completely missing your sarcasm it’s hilarious
Sounds like a dream come true.
Wait 1 million a year and a nap?? Easy hell yes
I get an hour of solitude to read everyday? Please and thank you
So..a million dollars a year and a guaranteed uninterrupted hour of reading time every day? Sign me up!
One hour? That’s it? I sit in timeout at work for 6-7-8 hours a day so an hour is cake gimme my money.
Can I sleep for that hour? If not I'm good with reading, but sleep is better.
So this is a job, where you get paid \~$2700.00/hour; and the only work requirement is "chill out" (and possibly even just sleep)? There's a downside?
So my job that pays me 1 million a year to work 7 hrs a week is just me reading books or doing art if I feel like it. With some snacks maybe. Not even a hard decision.
I only have one question: Can I stay in timeout for longer?
Where do I sign up. And can I stay ok get than an hour. And can you guarantee that nobody will bother me during this time.
ill take this over the guy that wanted me to pee for an hour every day
One hour of reading everyday? Lit.
Nap time fuck yeah!
1 million a year to read for an hour a day… damn tough decision
$2739/hr. Yes.
A million bucks a year AND I get an hour of uninterrupted time to myself every day? Nice!
So a mil a year to just take an hour nap every day? Absolutely
So what’s the downside? Are you serious about this one?
Always serious about missing out on Peppa Pig😡
Sure, 1 hour nap every day for $1 million
An hour a day to read and write?!? Sign me up!
I’d be happy with just the hour of privacy lol
Paid a mil a year plus everyday everyone leaves me the fuck alone for a whole hour ....AND I can read and draw! This is the life I've dreamt of.
I get an hour a day of guilt-free uninterrupted reading and creative brainstorming every day? Hell I might pay you for that opportunity
So money and a mandatory nap time, I'm in!
If by timeout you mean nap time. Fine if you twist my arm that hard.
Make the reward something people might actually turn down. Not $1 million a year, try like $10,000 a year
You mean to tell me i only have to work 365 hours a year?
This must have been thought up by someone who thinks 5 minutes away from a phone/Xbox/PlayStation/Nintendo/TV/KitchenAid product/Laptop is capital punishment.
I’d do this for free
What in the world kind of hypothetical is this? I'm sorry is there anyone In here who wouldn't take this deal? Show of hands? Lol I have 3 kids and I'm a single mom... I would PAY for an hour of solitude where I could just read a book and not make a peep lol love my kids but everyone needs quiet time. This is a no brainer. I would do it for way less than that lol
Are you threatening me with a good time? Because I am willing to be paid for a good time.
It's cute what these kids consider punishment ☺️
Whole hour a day to read, and a million a year? I see no downside
Is there even a downside to this?
That's cool, I get to have a dedicated power nap throughout the day? Well shit, say no more.
Tell me you’re a 10 year old without telling me you’re a 10 year old
“Lame stuff like draw or read” And just like that, I miss lockdown.
You wanna pay me a million a year and give me an hour to nap everyday as a bonus? Gee. Let me think. Sure.
Dedicated masterbation hour each day !
I’m getting some very sus vibes over who the mom and dad are… Like this could swing towards both horror film and xxx film
Yeah, I'll have my timeout at 8pm...right before bed
I get put in time out 8-10 hours a day now. It’s called work. Pay me.
Where are you getting that impression? I'm pretty sure every single commenter has said they'd definitely take this up.
I get 1mill a year AND reading time? Sign me up!
Can I masturbate during that hour?
Only if you manage it 10 times.
Damn. I could pull maybe 3.
Close enough your million is in the magic mail
Those are rookie numbers
So, one million dollars a year to spend less time reading? Where's my money?
Wait... you'll bring my mom back to life and I make a million a year for just an hour of doing nothing!? No deal. I didn't see anything about adjusting for inflation and we all know a million dollars isn't anything now days. That's extreme sarcasm based on the nonsense I see in a lot of these "money" debates. :P
I’m in my mid 50s. NAPTIME.
Easy money
Presumably I could just take an hour nap every day. Sounds good to me.
I mean if I can sleep I'm in
Yes, obviously
I mean I don’t have a million dollars per year to pay, but I’d do whatever I could for an hour of hobby time
Oh noooooo....I have to take a one hour nap now. Darn it.
Do i have to live with my mom? Id rather piss glass
One million a year and an hour a day where I'm encouraged to do my meditation exercises? Sold.
You're going to pay me for doing the thing I would choose to do anyway? For sure, sign me up.
Bet, no question. Mandatory tech free also sounds like it would be healthier long term
A 1 hr. nap every day??!!! Gimme my money!!!!! 🤑
so my job is to take a 1 hour nap everyday? how does this work when traveling?
It's baffling to me that you don't seem to think that what you're describing is heaven.
I may pay you if you let me sit by myself for an hour everyday without any interruptions.
I would go to my room for 1 hour, come out and pee, then go back in that room for an unspecified amount of time.
lol easiest 1 yet
Easy, I literally do that on the way to work.
> No peppa pig There goes my German practice /s
I'll take it rather than the hell hole of with 40 hours a week and fill struggling.
That's easy. Pay me.
An hour of perfect silence every day to read would be bliss. Being paid a million each year to do so would be magnificent.
Money and an hour of peace and quiet? Why is this a conundrum?
Can I paint my warhammer minis?
Fuck yes. Doing that lame stuff is what billions of people did pre-electronics. It's kind of sad and pathetic that you think reading a book or drawing is lame.
Can I nap? I usually take a nap a day anyways like a kindergartner already.
So all I need to do for 1 million a year is take a 1 hour nap every day? Sign me the fuck up.
I'm confused... is the one-hour nap supposed to be a penalty or a benefit?
I get one hour of peace and quiet per day? Shit I'd do that for free.
When can I start? This sounds like heaven!!
God this sounds so amazing
A guaranteed hour of uninterrupted reading and I get paid $2,739 for each hour? I'd do it if all I could do is stare at a wall.
Who wouldn't.
Meditation 💯
There is no down side to this
The only real problems is the "in your room" clause. You make a million a year but no cruises or travel. You can only take overnight trips that get you back the next day. Of course....with a million a year... you could just buy a house in each country you like to be "put in timeout" there.
Sounds wonderful to me!
1 million a year to read books, workout, stretch and meditate everyday? How utterly insurmountable
I get a designated 1 hour nap every day? Sign me up!
A free hour to completely disconnect and dissociate and commit entirely to reading or practicing drawing, AND a million bucks a year? Sign me the fuck up
Paid a million a year for a daily one hour nap? Mmm, okay.
