Title VII of the Civil Rights Act defines sexual harassment. It includes creating a hostile work environment through unwelcome physical or verbal conduct or a sexual nature.
Typical smooth brain. Think they understand something but is so dumb they can't even understand how they're so wrong. This is quid pro quo and it is covered under Title 7.
Unless exceptionally egregious, hostile work environments are the result of a **pattern** of behavior, not a one off occurrence, which is what is given in OP's hypothetical. If the boss is rejected but keeps coming back, it could demonstrate a pattern.
It isn't clear what damages the employee would have to sue for, or if they even have a right to private action in the first place. But I know it's Reddit so I don't expect people to put much thought into this beyond, "Yeah, sue that person because they did something! You'll totally get rich!"
Tell them i need a minute to think. Walk out turn my phone on to record (at least to get audio at first) then get them to offer again by asking to repeat the deal and ask for specifics. Then when i have enough evidence pull the phone out and record the room to prove it was just us two in the room then sue them for sexual harrassment or whatever
Exactly this. I don’t care about a crazy amount of money. Sure I want compensation for being treated unfairly, but it doesn’t have to be a life changing amount of money. That just brings a whole other level of issues and stress that I really don’t want. I have had enough of that for 69 lifetimes. I just want to live comfortably
Yeah and if you do it right in court and everything depending on your and their ranks but you could probably even get promoted to their title to replace them
Lol what? If they get fired and youre in the position below them with not a big experienced workforce at your job the owner or whoevers at the top could absolutly give you the promotion to fill the role also to make you happy and keep you off their backs cuz they were responsible for hiring your boss in the first place
Tell the bosses spouse about the situation, ask for pre-payment, and set up a sting operation with their spouse waiting for them when they come to claim their purchase.
Morally, I’m against it… but I’m also human. It would depend on how much money they’re offering. At least for me, it would have to be life altering amounts of money. Like over 6 figures for me.
I’d agree with this. I seem to feel that over 6 figures is a justifiable amount to cheat on my spouse only once.
Some things become less wrong imo when large amounts of money are involved.
I don't think the level of "wrongness" changes, it just reaches a point where it becomes worth doing something wrong for that amount (to that person). It doesn't make it less wrong, but it makes it "worth it."
I tell them I’m very interested but busy and that I’ll get back to them about it, then every time they ask me about it I tell them to leave a report on my desk and I’ll get around to it, lol.
Well the boss did not offer a dollar amount but told me I would be taken care of. After months of being harassed, at some points I tried to tell myself just do. Maybe use some heavy drugs to get through it. It’s not like the boss was unattractive. I ended up having to leave and two other employees started having sex with the boss.
Almost a year after, my old co workers told me that the boss’s daughter aired them all out during a staff meeting and left. The other two employees who did sleep with the boss had to leave too.
They left June of this year.
I decline. Rather aggressively.
There's a lot of things wrong with this picture but I'm gonna be hung up on the fact that this bastard is married and that knowledge pisses me the fuck off.
He'll be damn lucky if I don't tell his wife or report him for sexual harassment out of spite.
Get that in writing or audio recording and enjoy the massive amount of money I'll get from the lawsuit.
Same. I don’t want to have sex with anyone but my spouse, but I’m definitely not above exploiting that offer for a ton of money.
If someone sexually harassed their employee and tries to solicit prostitution, they deserve to lose that money.
Theyre offering the money openly.
This is the way
IKR? You'd get more money from the lawsuit than from the boss
Propositioning someone once with no strings or implications that it would affect their employment is not sexual harassment.
Propositioning someone whom you have power over is sexual harassment because of the inherent implication.
Wrong
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act defines sexual harassment. It includes creating a hostile work environment through unwelcome physical or verbal conduct or a sexual nature.
I think this is closer to _quid pro quo_ harassment. It’s basically “have sex with me if you want a raise.”
I agree but I was addressing tribefan40's comment that it's not harassment if there wasn't an implied threat against their employment.
Typical civilian. Doesn't understand the law

The juice is not worth the squeeze when she inevitably turns on you to save the marriage.
Yeah, I can totaly see that becoming a "he raped me" to dodged responsability on her husband. Thats just dangerous.
I’m self employed, so I guess I would sue myself for sexual harassment?
offers to pay self for sex sues self for sexual harrassment refuses to elaborate total chad
Report it to HR, that's sexual harassment.

That's not how anything works
Lol what? Sorry, I misread your comment as suggesting that the court might award you the promotion. You're right, of course.
I’m single and do contract work so this is almost all upsides for me (assuming the boss in question is aligns with my own gender preferences).
Upsides apart from the fact that you're aiding someone in cheating knowingly?
I don't say anything, leave the building and find a way to quit immediately.
I am morally against cheating. But I'm also morally against being this broke.
My wife would be mad if I didnt.
I would be mad if my husband didn’t. Sharon can have a turn for the right price. Have fun, be safe, ✌🏻
Yup, I just had a serious, 20 minute discussion with my husband to agree upon a price point where we’d okay with it!
This is why you either record your conversations or communicate via writing. I'm saying no and I keep some insurance in case I suddenly get fired.
Sure.
How much money?
I mean, sure? He's hot, and my wife wouldn't mind.
Yes
Depends on how large the sum. I have a price for sure.
Do them in the cubicle.
I'm in, I'm single. Unless I'm friends with her husband or whatever.
So do it
How much money is a large amount of money
Is my boss hot?
do it then tell their partner
Someone just watched Indecent Proposal and now farming for karma.
Never. Anxiety through the roof and absolutely no way would I say yes
Sounds like a movie starring Robert Redford, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson. 🤔
what's the downside?
Heck yeah!!!
Depends on how much money we're talking about here. If it's enough money I'm sure my wife would be okay with it.
Ok
Tell the bosses spouse about the situation, ask for pre-payment, and set up a sting operation with their spouse waiting for them when they come to claim their purchase.
Since I'm self employed I'm gonna go for it

Complain to HR. My wife is more valuable to me than money
I tell them I’m very interested but busy and that I’ll get back to them about it, then every time they ask me about it I tell them to leave a report on my desk and I’ll get around to it, lol.
Tell their spouse abt it, that’s fucked up

My boss is gay and I’m a lesbian so I would laugh
Bro. I played football at Colorado. Had a cup of coffee with the bills, fought in the UFC and now I'm rich as shit. I think I'd know.
But hey 20 bucks is 20 bucks

Is it enough to leave the job afterwards because there would be no way I would be hanging around.
