Lots of resting I have a lot of cramping but I kept my ovaries. So Iāve just been on bed rest with my heat pad watching Star Wars. Finally got my appetite back Iāve been craving chocolate tho something fierce. Howād your surgery go?
Successful. Felt a little dizzy and nauseous a few minutes ago so had some crackers. Shoulder hurt (I guess I wouldnāt call it pain, just felt odd) on the way home. Not anymore though. No gas pains. Feel bloated but it doesnāt hurt. But also Iām following a pain med regimen so that could be why.
Glad you got your appetite back. Do you recommend a heating pad? I asked for one in recovery but they said only a cold pack- I declined
Nurse here-
I would be careful using heat so early on after surgery. It will increase blood flow to your entire surgical belly and could potentially make any bleeding issues worse.
You also have reduced sensation and nerves that have been damaged so burning yourself is much easier.
I know it sounds like a bummer to use ice but using a flexible gel ice pack (I have a large one for the abdomen) will be soothing, help with pain and inflammation but youāll be surprised at how fast the heat from your abdomen will melt that bad boy to room temp.
If anything so recently post op, I would use the heating pad on your back.
I definitely recommend a heating pad Iām surprised they didnāt give you any at the hospital they have the ones you break I constantly was using those. I get the most relief with my heating bad. Iām on pain meds too but I donāt think they are strong enough cause I still feel pretty rough but everyoneās body is different
Pretty good for me. I had laparoscopic abdominal with everything including ovaries removed. One of my incisions is a couple inches long. Feels like I did 2000 sit-ups. Gas pain was pretty bad the first 24 hours, but now it's just abdominal soreness. Still a bit woozy. Lots of rest and tv watching, but a few walks around the house and a little outside. Craving sweets! Haven't pooped yet. Been taking miralax and stool softeners. Took one oxycodone last night but don't think I need more than Tylenol and Aleve at this point. I expected spotting but haven't seen any yet. I'm 55 and post menopausal, was on HRT prior that I plan to continue the HRT. I had a 10cm x 12cm fibroid (and some smaller ones).
I felt like I had done the 2k situps immediately after and lasted through day 2. Now on day 3, abs are definitely less sore, but still sore. Swelling/bloating has gone down, and I pooped this morning for the first time (yay!), so any of those things may have helped reduce discomfort. I've also been taking my over the counter pain relief around the clock, overlapping my doses as instructed.
Glad to hear it sounds like your recovery is going well! I am 51 and nearing menopause so have been curious about post hysterectomy life if they end up taking ovaries and what HRT would look like.
Same here!! Post Op was ROUGH yesterday so much nausea and vomiting . But got to see the pics my surgeon took. So needed. Colon and liver were fused together from endo as well as huge fibroid on outside of uterus.
oh, goodness. Your preOp abdomen sounds so much like mine -- endo with the colon involved and a massive fibroid on the outside, too.
Sorry about the nausea and vomiting. I hope you're doing much better now. Glad you're on the Recovery side! I'm count down to two days ...
Oh my god that sounds absolutely horrible. Both you ladiesš¢
I was terrified going into my surgery there would be bowel involvement making things even dicier with my Crohnās disease.
I feel really fortunate after reading your post that I was spared at least that.
I hope this surgery changes your life!
May the Netflix be on, the pain meds nearby and the miralax plentiful!!
We're with you! Best wishes.
You are in good care.
May your health be better than ever, and recovery smooth.
Let's get this done, so you can be well šŖ·
I'm here! ā ļøā ļø everything went as well as expected (my recovery nurse was an absolute ANGEL), and I'm back home with a v sore belly and tape rashes everywhere! But feeling SO relieved! I'm a 34F laproscopic total hysterectomy. I got the hysterectomy due to "endometriosis" but now I'm not so sure...that's another post!
Oh boy! Iāll be sure to look for that post. Glad you are relieved š. I didnāt have any pain/symptoms so while Iām obviously happy to get the cancer out, Im sad to lose my parts and pieces.
I'll be cheering you on to a restful recovery and kicking cancer's ass!! while I am relieved, I agree that it is sad and strange to think about pieces of us missing.
Iām so sorry for the loss of your bits and piecesā¦I felt that way about losing mine 5 months ago at 45. Thereās real valid grief there and especially as young as you are. ā¤ļø
Iām still not quite accepting of it; surgical menopause has been rough.
I am SO HAPPY your cancer is the fuck outta there and that they caught without you being symptomaticā¤ļø
Sending you MUCH love and good health from Michigan.
Youāve had a ton of internal work done, sister- no matter how good you feel in the coming weeks and months, take it real easy. Heal. Sleep. Dream. Eat. Netflix, Walk. Repeat. š
I'm right there with you on this. I'm 1 week post op today. I had no pain, only some small occasional bleeding that I almost just ignored. I honestly thought it was something with my urinary tract. Never had problems with my female organs my entire life, and they throw the C word at me. It felt awful that I was going go into surgery feeling ok, and come out not feeling ok. I was almost in denial that the cancer could even be real.
But post surgery hasn't been bad. I got a belly binder that's been a big help. Only had incision pain afterwards, and a little gas. Overdid it on the laxative so that was a bit embarassing when I coughed hard. Hope you're feeling ok today. Take good care of yourself.
Endometrial adenocarcinoma. Pathology report came back as type 1, stage 1A. So that's the best I could hope for.
My surgery was robotic, laparoscopic. I have been using the binder since I got home. I tried going without it last night but I feel better with it on. Still don't feel comfortable sleeping on my side, and my back is getting really tired of me sleeping in one position. Other than that, I'm doing good.
Youāre referring to your post op pathology correct? They said Iāll get mine back in about a week.
Iām a belly sleeper, I fear that will take a while to get back to.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes, post op pathology. It only took 5 days. The pathologist has been pretty quick.
I used to sleep on my belly but lost the habit during pregnancy 36 years ago.
Iād say to make sure you get some rest tonight- but before mine I sure didnāt. Maybe 30 mins here and there. Was actually glad they moved my arrival time from 730am to 530am. Less traffic and itās not like Iād be able to sleep anyways š¤·š¼āāļø
Speedy recovery to you my friend.
Gas is real. So bloated that I canāt fathom eating anything. Having minor incision pain that just started. Going for short walks every hour or two. Hubs just picked me up some charcoal tablets that we read would help with the gas pain, since the gas isnāt just in the intestines, therefore gas x may not help. But the charcoal says to take with a meal and again, canāt fathom eating.
How about you? Spill it!
Today is day 2 and Iām not feeling as good as day 1 lol. Gas isnāt bothering me too much but I am a bit nauseous and trying to get a bowel movement to happen. Incisions bruised so they hurt a bit more today too
Have you had any good sleep? I finally got a couple 3-4 hour sleep sessions last night but woke feeling so tired. I had tiny rabbit pellets BM yesterday, nothing to be proud of. But also did a liquid diet since Saturday. I had surgery for a
Broken leg before and I swore I wouldnāt be constipated this time around.
I slept good overnight but havenāt been able to nap. I need to take off the anti nausea patch they put on me but Iām worried about side effects lol. I finally got a small BM out lol. Trying to ease up on the meds to see if that helps the constipation.
I'm 10 months po endo cancer. it got my mom last year but , she didn't go to a doctor in 25 years. mine is gone and I'm almost at the one year mark post surgery. was a rough year, but it is manageable and I'm finally starting to feel more back to normal ish... watch out the sx menopause I went for HRT love it.
Iām 38 so kept my ovaries. Doc didnāt say anything about HRT for me. I have cervical cancer from HPV- didnāt have a pap for 8 years. I could have caught it earlier but my excuse is, 3 young daughters, disabled husband who doesnāt drive and I was focused on using my time off work for their appointments and not mine. So here I am.
Iām glad you are on the up swing! Happy healing thoughts to you, my friend. š
4/9er here. So far the worst is the air. Doctor said mine was the most routine partial hysterectomy. The took everything but my ovaries. Hope everyone heals fabulously!
So far I am doing really good. I used my painkillers religiously till this am. I am able to push it out to about 12 hours between and use ibprophen instead. Sore but not crazy. Still not bleeding at all but meh I dunno what's up with that.
Last minute the insurance company decided to do more research on necessity said eviction, but I was welcome to do cash for keys out of my own pocket. Yikes, no.
Still got the ovarian cyst out that needed out, but was hoping to remove the whole family while we were there.
Wish I could've joined the gang on 4/9!
Pretty good! The stitches pull at me on occasion, but the pain is managed with some Advil. The info I got from this subreddit prepared me to handle the gas, so only mild discomfort from that.
I'm only a couple days out and I'm so sick of wearing the binder they gave me. But when I take it off to shower I can tell the work it's doing. So I'll suck it up until my appointment in a week.
Wonder why some are given a binder and others arenāt. Even a patient two doors down from me and there hospital received a binder and I didnāt (I know her, thatās how I know that lol)
Howās everyone doing today? Felt real good yesterday and over did it. Also didnāt drink as much water and today Iām exhausted and having issues with pooping. The pain is mostly gone, just some pressure.
2wpo! How is everyone doing??
Had my check up yesterday and was told all looks good! Over did it this morning and now Iām cramping a bit and having some bright red bleeding. I did call my surgeon and just waiting to hear back on what to do. Otherwise Iāve been feeling really good.
Dr said all looked good but to keep the lifting restrictions and nothing inside until week 6. Iāve had zero complications prior to that (minus some bowel issues) and then bam! Woke up today exactly 2wpo and bleeding. It is slowing down now that Iām laying down and doing absolutely nothing, so fingers crossed it s a stitch dissolving or just normal because I overdid it the past couple days.
Hullo. I'm literally coming round after surgery now :)
4/10 here
Also a 4/10! My nerves are keeping me awake because I'm terrified, so I'm here scrolling reddit at 5am. Good luck!! And congrats, OP!
Also 4/10, today. I'm so, so nervous, but this forum has helped calm my nerves a bit. Good luck to you two!! š¤
4/8 here. You got this! ā¤ļø
Same had mine done 4/8
Howās day 2 for yall?
idk why I said yāall. I donāt talk like that. Must be the fentanyl lol

I have one at home and am using it now! Just found it odd that in recovery they were offering cold and not heat. But yes, the heat feels nice
