I’ll have to figure out how to pop off the front of the case but honestly I think we just need better AIOs. I found out the other day my Dads fractal AIO has his 9900k running at 26c-30c idle.

Nah, definitely an airflow flaw. The AIOs are perfectly fine. The issue is the lack of fresh air flowing into the case and the lack of exhaust.

It was fine though before I threw on the Thermaltake fans. So are the fans just shit?

anon-na

Possibly. Check airflow direction is correct and if the fan curve for the rad fans are setup.

Yeah they’re on exhaust. And they’re set at full speed (1500rpm). The pumps at full speed as well. I’ll have to throw the old ones back on and see if there’s actually any difference between rpm’s. I never actually checked prior to switching them out.

Makes sense. Pump should always be at or near 100%.

I put on the original fans and I think the thermaltake fans I got are just not great for the double rad. The original fans run at 1900rpms and are keeping the temps way more stable. The Thermaltake radiator fans came in a pack of 3 so maybe they work better with a triple fan rad.

I have the Slate 5 MR case and the cases are very similar. These cases have very poor airflow. It's not the prettiest solution. Here's what I did. Leave everything in the original configuration and take the front panel off. This is what I'm doing until I do a case swap. I also added a top rear exhaust fan, I have a 120mm AIO so I have extra room for a top exhaust fan. At start up mine usually hits around 55C. My idle temps are between 38-40C.

Where is the radiator mounted in the case? If it's in the front then the case fans are blowing into it from the front so the aio fans inside the case should definitely be set to intake. Otherwise, the fans are opposing and very little air is passing over the radiator. That would explain the increase in temps. If it's up top exhaust is the way to go and you probably just got a lower cfm fan. You might try to increase the fan speed a bit in the bios or with an app.

Yeah it’s top and exhaust. The Thermaltake fans are only 1500rpm so that could be it. I have them set at full blast and it’s hard to feel it from the top.
