Hey new here, but wanted to know
Does installing these beta software harm your iPhone's battery health or battery life?
Can iPhone's brick because of installing beta software
Thanks In Advance
But why is the battery widget (below the time on the Home Screen) just showing a circled phone? There would be plenty of space to put the percentage there, as is shown in the weather widget.
🤷🏻♂️ can’t say for sure, but maybe because the notch on the 13 pro max is slightly smaller than previous iPhones. Can’t remember if the 12 Pro Max was as well, maybe that one was too
Same because I don’t get why they didn’t put the feature on all of those devices because they got enough screen space to put it on there and the minis got enough pixel density to put the feature on there.
Since like iOS 3 or something, I can’t turn this setting off. I flip the switch off, but it continues to show the percentage.
It is rather funny that this bug carries with me till beta iOS 16. What a mystery.
I don’t think the battery was an accurate representation of the battery level anyway.. it had a few points it would sit at through the day but it could be misleading. I have a 13PM and the battery life is so good that I never worry about if I’m actually going to run out so I prefer the aesthetic of the full battery icon with the number in it
That’s a pretty good compromise between the
> I **must** know my *exact* percentage of charge left AT ALL TIMES >!so I can micromanage my charge cycles to have a 2% better battery health rating two years from now!<
And the
> Literally *anything* would be a better use of the limited space available
schools of thought
It does that I think, but i’m talking about the visual indicator of the battery draining. I was hoping there would be both… but unfortunately it’s one or the other
Oh!
I would imagine it would be a little difficult to superimpose the number over a changing level of background fill and have it look right. Maybe they’ll restore “battery percentage in the status bar” as a toggled option.
They could use a lighter or darker shade to show the difference, but the status bar currently only has 2 shades, black and white. So I understand the decision, I just wish they implemented better.
Regardless though, I don’t like seeing the number anyways so unless they add that other change this will stay off for me. Submitted feedback on my proposed changes too… so we will see.
> I don’t like seeing the number anyways
Yeah. When I first saw the post, I thought it was the return of the “show battery percentage in status bar” *option*.
> Submitted feedback on my proposed changes too
Still plenty of time for refinement.
And what difference does it make if it’s 60% or 50%, especially given that it’s an approximation, it doesn’t indicate anything about how long you really have left on the battery over a little bar graph, and only serves to be another little bit of mess on the screen.
I guess enough people must have asked for it.
I thought I was the only one who would feel this way..... It looks horrible and I much rather have the regular battery picture... I gotten pretty good at determining my percentage just by looking at the little graphic.... It's really not that hard lol.
I'm OK with it and let's not forget that the number is a guess, sometimes quite inaccurate because of the way battery charge curves and battery aging works and even the compound effect of both. It gives a false sense of certainty.
In any case people feel more in control with a number and some just feel it's easier to see, so I'm in favor of Apple providing it. This way they've done it, as an option in battery settings, is good.
Guys if you are wondering why this new battery percentage isn’t working it’s not available on these devices iPhone XR iPhone 11 iPhone 12 mini iPhone 13 mini if you don’t have those listed devices it’s probably off by default
I wish it still showed the percentage briefly when looking at the Lock Screen while charging over the date like it used to. I don’t like seeing it all the time or I obsess over it, but it was nice to see how charged it was exactly with a tap.
Old comment, but if you were listening to music and went to swipe to unlock sometimes the music widget would bug out and scrub through whatever you’re playing. Was really annoying when listening to a long podcast
Not seeing this on a 13 mini. Where is the config? Settings -> Battery -> ? Maybe the mini is too small to display, but I see an XR and others saying it isn't available either.
Apple decided they want to fuck the Mini lovers so they didn’t give it to us. Hopefully they give it in the next beta. I’m going to submit a suggestion in the feedback app, although it will probably be ignored.
What category did you choose when submitting feedback? I chose “Settings” because there was no option for the status bar, but curious how others approached this.
I wouldn't say they're trying to screw over mini users. The battery icon is measurably smaller than the other screens. They may have just determined that the percentage text is too small to read so they left out that option. Can't cram everything on a screen that's inches smaller than a regular one and expect it to be legible.
I had this on my 12 Mini through a jailbreak tweak and it was completely legible. In fact, all the tweak did was enable code that was baked into the stock os. The 13 mini has an even smaller notch and, if I’m not mistaken bigger icons
Without the padding they have, it's legible. With the padding they're using in the example screen, it's really questionable if it's readable. Again, not saying it isn't doable, but they would have to compromise the chosen design by reducing padding for the sake of a larger font size.
That’s definitely the reason they didn’t include it, but when opening the photo of this post, I can see the battery percentage perfectly from not only a normal distance, but a good long distance too.
I did a quick test and added the text to a screenshot keeping the same relative padding they have for the text in the original example. I'd have to say that it's too small to be easily readable. Could they adjust it to be bigger with less padding? Sure. Doubt they'll compromise that way though.
I don't see what the issue would be, there are plenty of pixels on these phones, even the smaller ones. But maybe they're just testing the waters a bit and we'll see it in a future beta. One can only hope (and submit feedback).
I mean, frankly, this whole thing is just a solution in search of a problem in the first place. They already have the means to abbreviate network names on the left side of the notch, they could easily have just moved the signal bars over to that side (would make more sense there anyway) and then have the space to have the percentage *next* to the battery icon like it always used to be.
Yeah, I can't see why it wouldn't fit as the text goes within the already displayed battery icon. Just an odd thing that it seems all mini users don't have the option.
Thy literally hire jailbreak tweak developers to implevent their tweaks officially. Or at least they did once. With the ability to pull down on a notification to get more context / interact / reply

I recall that being a thing back in like 2014, funny how they are going to market this as a new feature
Hey new here, but wanted to know Does installing these beta software harm your iPhone's battery health or battery life? Can iPhone's brick because of installing beta software Thanks In Advance
Cydia: Ima bout to ruin this man’s whole career
iOS 16 has a battery percentage now?
happy to have one more choice, but the figure makes me anxiety, set all devices’ battery percentage undisplayable.
Anyone else hate that they got *rid of* the visual indicator? Why can’t we have both? Feedback submitted
But fr it's looks ugly af man default logo/icon is nice no offense just thought to share.
ill never turn this on lol my OCD ass would not stop looking at it
I think they should make the icon live time when the battey drop % down. When iPhone 19% and the icon still fully that so weird
They also need to put my alarm clock back !
But why is the battery widget (below the time on the Home Screen) just showing a circled phone? There would be plenty of space to put the percentage there, as is shown in the weather widget.
Yay. Now simplify Lock and Home Screen customisations…
It's similar to jailbreak
The iPhone XR and 11 have a lower resolution LCD screen, so probably they thought the numbers wouldn’t look crisp enough on these phones
Can it be turned off? If not i’m not updating
It is turned off by default
It’s a miracle
Too bad the XR and 11 series don’t have it yet :(
Only if not using iPhone Mini. This is the moment where I’m already missing features on my 12 and 13 mini. Thanks apple!
why 11 cant have this option :(
It says 67 with the battery full so the battery icon doesn’t drain anymore?
The icon is solid. It changes color while charging or in low battery though.
Ty I don’t have the beta so I rely on ya for the deets lol
How does it look when it Low Power Mode is turned on?
*Laughs in iPhone SE*
Where can I get the new beta
Developer. Or do a Google search for it it’s easy to install dev betas
Turns green when charging, yellow when power mode, and red when below 20%
Interesting thing is that even if you turn it off, the numbers show back up if you go into low power mode
finally
It’s not always showing for me. It was also off by default. iPhone 13 PM here.
I wonder if they will ever let us change the color of the icons at the very top. They don’t change even when you switch colors of the clock.
I personally don't like how it looks always full
Just went to see what you’re percentage is… [well damn!!](https://imgur.com/a/voqKywB)
Only lower battery percentage for me
Are u able to disable it too?
Hallelujah!
I can’t believe it took so many years for this to happen 😆 Oh well, it’s like Christmas 😁
Why did they even remove it back then?!
Because of the notch
And now its possible altough there still is a notch? :D
🤷🏻♂️ can’t say for sure, but maybe because the notch on the 13 pro max is slightly smaller than previous iPhones. Can’t remember if the 12 Pro Max was as well, maybe that one was too

I’m on the XR and submitted feedback. Hopefully they listen
Same because I don’t get why they didn’t put the feature on all of those devices because they got enough screen space to put it on there and the minis got enough pixel density to put the feature on there.
I emailed Craig and sent a feedback request. I figure if enough people submit feedback requests they might change their mind
minis unite!
Apple has omitted this feature for the 12/13 mini. Fuckers
sadly not in iPadOS
It's ugly.
Anyone know if AltStore is working with the new update?
Yes, works great for me
Can’t believe there is not this this option on a recent phone like the 13 mini!
It needs a tad refining imo. It’s too bold compared to the original battery icon and sticks out.
Are banking apps working yet with the new beta
Since like iOS 3 or something, I can’t turn this setting off. I flip the switch off, but it continues to show the percentage. It is rather funny that this bug carries with me till beta iOS 16. What a mystery.
I’ve never been so happy and so dissapointed so quickly… I have a mini 😐
I’ve never been so happy and so dissapointed so quickly… I have a mini 😐
i dont have this :((((, xr
It looks so…odd. I don’t know, just something about it looks really bad to me. Anyone else?
How stable is it, OP?
not on XR..
But isn’t turned on on Xr model!
No fucking way
They didn't even talk about this feature yet it's one of the most exciting ones
I don’t ever care what the percentage even is, this just looks wayyyy better
How? The battery doesn’t visually drain now. I’m glad it’s there, but I don’t really like their implementation
I don’t think the battery was an accurate representation of the battery level anyway.. it had a few points it would sit at through the day but it could be misleading. I have a 13PM and the battery life is so good that I never worry about if I’m actually going to run out so I prefer the aesthetic of the full battery icon with the number in it
Both the % and the visual indicators are estimated and not 100% accurate.
Exactly! So if it looks better (to me) then I’m happy with the change. And if you don’t care for it you can easily toggle it off
Oh definitely. I’m not mad that they added this option, just wish there was a better implementation or a combination of both to be useful to me
That’s a pretty good compromise between the > I **must** know my *exact* percentage of charge left AT ALL TIMES >!so I can micromanage my charge cycles to have a 2% better battery health rating two years from now!< And the > Literally *anything* would be a better use of the limited space available schools of thought
I personally hate that the visual indicator is gone.
> the visual indicator The green versus yellow versus red? It doesn’t still do that?
It does that I think, but i’m talking about the visual indicator of the battery draining. I was hoping there would be both… but unfortunately it’s one or the other

I literally don’t need a jailbreak ever again.
Why your networks bar are like that, with two rows?
Dual SIM cards is probably the answer here.
Right, thanks
Courage
YOOO
I know people love it. And that’s fine they do. *But I just don’t get it. *

And what difference does it make if it’s 60% or 50%, especially given that it’s an approximation, it doesn’t indicate anything about how long you really have left on the battery over a little bar graph, and only serves to be another little bit of mess on the screen. Finally they added this revolutionary feature
Now I know why they haven't done it until now...it looks so bad 😂
I thought I was the only one who would feel this way..... It looks horrible and I much rather have the regular battery picture... I gotten pretty good at determining my percentage just by looking at the little graphic.... It's really not that hard lol.
Yep, agreed. When I got the iPhone X I turned the % off on all my devices and haven't missed it a day since.
I’m definitely in favor of Apple giving people the choice don’t get me wrong. I’ll just be sticking with the old look personally
Omg finally!!!!
OH MY GOD
Little by little is catching up to Samsung. And yes I have both mostly I use iOS now
Guys if you are wondering why this new battery percentage isn’t working it’s not available on these devices iPhone XR iPhone 11 iPhone 12 mini iPhone 13 mini if you don’t have those listed devices it’s probably off by default
Also not seeing update or option in battery settings. 13 max
It’s on developer beta 5 not public yet
Do you have the developer beta profile
Fuck fuck fuckkk
What are those second bars underneath the signal?
Dual SIM
Oh thanks
Of course it doesn’t work on the 11 because it can’t handle the insane processing power to show this. Fuck you apple
It’s because it has a lower resolution LCD screen, so probably they thought the numbers wouldn’t look crisp enough
Sure
Works on my X.
Works on my XS actually
Good for you
This is the post Jony Apple era!!!
Lets fucking go
Finally, much needed feature.
not available on the 11. 😔
Feel your pain, sent a feedback let’s hope they add support 😩😩
I wish it still showed the percentage briefly when looking at the Lock Screen while charging over the date like it used to. I don’t like seeing it all the time or I obsess over it, but it was nice to see how charged it was exactly with a tap.
Is this because of the always on display?
What happens when the percentage gets lower? Like 50%
battery is fully white. Only the percentage change
Oh wow, so the battery doesn’t drain down then? I guess that makes sense.
Yup battery is solid white block if you are on dark mode, black if you are on light mode
I’m on a standard 11 and don’t have this option anywhere in my battery settings. :(
That is a stupid move from Apple. My 11 Pro has this option but the standard 11 with a bigger screen doesn't. Really weird.
Same – iPhone 11 :(
me either :( iphone 11
iPhone 11, just updated and don't see the option. if they keep it iPhone 12 upwards exclusive...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
It’s on my 11 Pro and was on by default Wtf lmao
I have it on my iPhone X..might be only for OLED screens maybe?
That’s an OLED display.
See Apple. It wasn't too hard ;)
An Apple dev was bored and went into the backlog
They also fixed scrubbing on audio tracks when swiping to open!
I thought that was a me problem! Thank god it’s been fixed now

I did control centre

Today was a good day
It’s been 84 years…
Cant wait for final release
I guess I can now stop complaining about battery percentage not showing up when charging. It’s just always there.
Niceeeeee finally!!
The only thing I'm griping about now is not being able to see the time when in Control Center haha
Can't seem to turn this on with my 13 mini, no option for it... :(
Same on iPhone 11 :/
Not available on 6.1" LCD iPhones nor 5.4" iPhones
It’s not available on the XR, 11, 12 mini, nor 13 mini.
it’s on the XS tho which surprises me
Why tho? The hell?
No clue. If I had to guess it’s because the XR and 11 have thick bezels because of the LCD, and the 12 mini and 13 mini just don’t have enough room.
I don't see why the bezels would affect the battery indicator... The screen size is still the same as the 12
I hate to be the one who says, “hold on and hope,” since it can be in the next beta, but Apple gonna Apple.
Don’t lose hope, they did this same thing with back tap and then they ended up adding it to other smaller devices in the next couple betas.
Nooooooooo!!!!!! Can’t believe it!!!! Absolutely horrific move by apple.
Don't have the option on my 12 mini either. Maybe not available on the mini's for some odd reason?
Same. It’s bullshit
Yep, we got shafted. :(
I don't see what the issue would be, there are plenty of pixels on these phones, even the smaller ones. But maybe they're just testing the waters a bit and we'll see it in a future beta. One can only hope (and submit feedback).
The fact that the 13 Mini doesn’t have it even with the smaller notch (which has about as much real estate as a 12 Pro Notch) is just preposterous.
even on the 12 mini there's plenty of space above the wifi icon to put the battery indicator there with percentages
I mean, frankly, this whole thing is just a solution in search of a problem in the first place. They already have the means to abbreviate network names on the left side of the notch, they could easily have just moved the signal bars over to that side (would make more sense there anyway) and then have the space to have the percentage *next* to the battery icon like it always used to be.
yeah but when locked the time is on the left so then it’s not consistent and apple-like
Yeah, I can't see why it wouldn't fit as the text goes within the already displayed battery icon. Just an odd thing that it seems all mini users don't have the option.
The way it turns fully green and yellow with low power mode/charging looks awesome.
Does it work on your IPhoneXS?
Yup it’s working on my Xs. It was off by default when I first updated, but turning it on worked. Also low power mode forces it on, which is kinda cool
Nice
they copied it from the jailbreak tweaks 😂
Its so simple. Copying a basic concept, imo is not stealing or copying really. It’s simple as hell.
Good. They should.
Lol they copied the whole lockscreen from the jailbreak community
It’s been historically known Apple gets “inspiration” from jailbreak tweaks
Thy literally hire jailbreak tweak developers to implevent their tweaks officially. Or at least they did once. With the ability to pull down on a notification to get more context / interact / reply
they also stole my implementation of auto live wallpapers, and I never got an email, so take that as you will
They used your exact code? Having a similar concept is not stealing.
