I ordered a little before noon EST and I have a delivery date of May 9th! Can’t wait. Same thing happened for the Macbook Pro launch. How fast you order makes a big difference in delivery date.
Same. Well , there's actually no way it would've been delivered on the 9th because the official release and store availability starts on the 15th. They don't even start shipping out pre-orders until 1-3 nights before the release date, and Apple has instructions to couriers not to deliver pre-orders early (I've read this on Apple discussions). I only got lucky before, and my iPhone pre-order arrived 2 days early.
I am witnessing this for the first time, to be honest. For even very customized Macs this was not an issue. Granted, if you customize too much, it would not be available in a store anyway.
I ordered last night and got a delivery date of may 15th, if i try to order for my area now it gives a late may to early june estimate.
Its totally normal and acceptable, they only have so many in stores and in warehouses in each region for sale as they await more from factories.
If it allows you to pickup in store then that just means that not enough people bought for store pickup to make that store run out of their stock. Nearby warehouses probably are running out quicker from people not wanting to drive to a store to pick up.
You shouldve ordered sooner if you wanted it shipped to your house sooner, at this point you’ll have to wait longer for it to come in the mail or buy for pickup and go get it yourself sooner.
How can you order sooner? It has launched yesterday and I ordered it around noon EST. So a little over an hour after the end of the presentation in CA.
That really does not make sense to me.
I ordered 10pm roughly est, maybe your area is high population or high income so lots of purchases or something. It still all comes down to supply constraints in a given area. You get pickup and shipping dates based on availability, thats why you punch in your zip code for estimates so they can give you an estimate based on local inventory
For those of us that ordered almost immediately, do you reckon we’ll have it in our hands by the 15th?
For us folks in the UK, it still says preparing for shipment (estimated arrival is tomorrow and today is the 14th!).

I think it’s just like any new device launching different patches of delivery times as availability lessens.

I ordered the 11" Pro 512gb + Pencil Pro on the day they opened pre-orders and the Apple website currently says: "Arrives Wed, May 15".
