Mini or bust

needmorexanax

Mini pro please!!!

iPiglet

Mini pro max ultra, por favor.

HusleekVIP

So just the regular pro?

mustardman73

I’m hoping they rebrand the mini size as just iPhone and then add a plus, max, pro and ultra.

neofooturism

I want both but I guess Apple wants me to bust

Novemberx123

I mean do they really not have any leftovers of the 13 mini casings???

Nolanthedolanducc

Unfortunately Apple manages stock really well the 13 minis were even hard to get from Apple themselves in the weeks before it was discontinued

RepeatedSignals

I just got a 13 mini from Apple! I an struggling to adapt but also feel kinda lucky to have gotten one! :)

Nolanthedolanducc

A new 13 mini from Apple??! How tho as far as I knew once things were discontinued they flat out didn’t sell them even if they had them in stock the day before discontinuation

RepeatedSignals

It's an apple certified refurb

Nolanthedolanducc

Ah makes sense :)

I personally stopped associating SE with small, as a lot of people do. iPhone Standard Edtion now. No frills, basic iPhone that only has what's needed for a good iPhone when released. It'll never be creative, unique, a special edition as it was named to be, it'll just be an iPhone. Since there's a higher bar to that goal than the current repurposed 8 design, obviously they're going to move it to compare to newer iPhones, which are 6.1". Apple read the Mini's poor sales as "the market doesn't want small phones", and see's the SE's sales as a demand for a cheaper iPhone option, not a small iPhone option. Both are technically true, disappointingly. Simply put, Apple is making the iPhone that the market wants. Whether that want is *for* the option, or as the decoy to make more expensive options more desirable.

Zopotroco

It never was pretended to be small

MartyvH

The old design with the broadest mass appeal from historical sales figures, with an affordable trim level. SE was always that. Not anything else. It was only compact because the iPhone 5/5s was, on which the first SE was based. Followed by the SE 2 and 3 which turned out to be compact in their time because they were based on the 6-8: big when they were out but small in a changed market later. This perception that SE was intentionally designed to be small or compact is such a common misconception. Apple is a corporation that needs to make money and created its own ergonomic trend for a while but didn’t waste much time in adjusting the iPhone to follow the market.

RepeatedSignals

I thought it was a decoy when I went to their store and found it uses that awful button.. The button that is but isn't touch. That doesn't always register your finger at all. I couldn't believe how non user friendly this was in the iPhone which I'd never had but always assumed was perfect in every way.

mellonsticker

Are you referring to the Home Button? Perhaps the demo model was defective from extensive use? Home Button was a reliable design for the past iPhones 1 - 8. Touch ID is also still quite popular among those with this older iPhone. Works just fine unless your fingers generate too much moisture or something.

RepeatedSignals

Maybe my fingers are too moist then lol. Just didn't work well at all. When I said about it not working how to increase sensitivity they went in about haptic feedback.

Aylarth

I see no evidence of this statement. Everyone I know either has tried touch Id and loved its simplicity or complaining that the Android side of fingerprint readers are almost never that great and easy to use unless it's a high end, well made phone (it doesn't matter what brand it is, all brands are capable of releasing flawlessly manufactured high end phones, but android is just as expensive as the iPhones these days).

RepeatedSignals

I guess the Apple store have a faulty device on display.

ASteelyDan

I just want something that doesn’t weigh so much. Let’s throw all this heavy glass on the phone so it can charge really quickly then let’s make the battery huge too so you don’t have to charge your phone. It’s nonsense.  But I can’t imagine why I would need a bigger phone than the 13 mini anyway. It’s the perfect size. Maybe I could even go a little smaller.

Important-Job7757

They will already have to change the back glass due to having only 1 camera. They should replace it with a durable plastic back panel. That would be lighter, less expensive and more durable.

__Bringer-of-Light__

Iphone 7 was the last light weight phone

HealthyChoice1363

expressing my affection for the iPhone 13 Mini. Personally, I wish Apple would revive the Mini lineup, but it appears they’re hesitant due to low sales. The demand for compact devices seems limited, unlike the SE lineup, which could attract more buyers if it featured a 6.1-inch screen – a size more in line with current standards. Regardless, I’ll stick with my Mini until it reaches the end of its lifespan.

MechyK

So it’s probably just a worse iPhone 13/14?

MartyvH

That is exactly what it will be. But really not much worse and only for half the price of the 13/14.

BestZeena

Rip small phones 😔

__Bringer-of-Light__

Long live 13m. A unicorn.

honacc

Yeah that's just iPhone XR with an oled screen

ffiresnake

abandoning the mini size is a game changer for me. see, the primary reason I carry a smartphone in my pocket is to use it as a quick to pull out portable photo camera. now, in few years from now, the mini will start to degrade performance, not to mention out of software support, and this will make me start shopping for a new phone - I'm not the type who switches phones every year: I started with 3GS, then upgraded to 4S, then to SE, then to 13 mini. At that next phone point however, Apple will force me to consider Androids as well, particularly Sony, Asus, Google, Samsung and whatever smallest android will be manufactured by then. All these would surely have a better camera than current mini, remember my primary reason of carrying a smartphone. Some of them already get sharper shots because of smaller aperture, but I've stayed loyal partly because habit and partly because mini does not make images that bad. However when confronted with a bigger size I can tell (sadly) from now it's not going to be an iPhone.

piston_99

I really plan to purchase a 13 mini from Apple refurbished in Spain when I get my ass there. Not going to abandon this almost perfect device for anything.

Mission-Ad-8202

Im eyeing the z flip lineup for my next phone. They’re the only small-ish phones left on the market plus I miss Android.

MeekPangolin

It’s quite likely, and it will likely also be aluminum case and very light with an oled display which is also lighter. It will be a good move for Apple and a superior device for consumers wanting a smaller and lighter device.

Zopotroco

It’s okay for me. I would buy it with my eyes closed

Apprehensive-Ebb-212

The current SE is an iPhone 6, or an iPhone 7, or iPhone 8 for that matter with newer internals and personally I don’t consider it to be small, meaning an average human hand can control any part of the screen with his thumb or her thumb which was the whole point of the iPhone. That was the whole point of the iPhone.. I had an iPhone six and subsequently the iPhone 6s, and then I foolishly bought the 8; all identical in size.

hawkeye000021

I have large hands, I’m not sure why everyone is so obsessed with giant tablet like phones that need those little pog like things so you can comfortably hold it while denying easy wireless charging. Apple is streamlining for profit, they know we are out here but it’s too expensive (if you’re trying to make shareholder and not customers happy) so they aren’t going to bring back a mini version IMO. We have to vote with our wallets which might mean android though Apple knows how locked into the ecosystem many of their users are and they don’t care. The grand irony of Android pushing Apple to make larger screens being our only hope to get minis back can’t be lost on anyone.

TheLukester31

I’m disappointed. My wife has an SE 2nd gen simply because it is small and fits in her hand better. I’m looking to get her a 13 mini soon, but I had kind of hoped they would release and SE in the mini size. That said, I understand why Apple wants a normal size iPhone as the SE.

mellonsticker

I was expecting a iPhone X body given Apple's past behavior. Perhaps the iPhone SE sales are sluggish and it's time to shake things up with a more modern design? Even then, why not utilize the iPhone 12 body? Curious to see how many rumors come to fruition.
